@flowerJ I love next 🤭 river island is cute too

Cheetocat · 07/04/2022 22:53

I think I'm going to get mostly warm babygrows and vests for the winter and a handful of nicer outfits for the week of Christmas & NYE, I feel like we'll mostly be inside our home bonding and feeding otherwise.

@Cheetocat that sounds sensible. I actually have no idea what babies wear so was thinking lots of baby grows as we'll probably be inside as it's winter? Maybe a few outer layers? Do they just wear socks on their feet? Can't wait to hunker down and have a few months off work because getting up in winter is so hard!

Speaking of work, how are people coping? I had a 4am start today (I'm a baker) and was just so so tired on shift. I had to go into the toilet and have a little cry because I just felt so overwhelmed! Another 4am start tomorrow which is killing me 😭

Casper94 · 08/04/2022 03:38

@fuckwhatshouldido so so sorry for what you're going through, sending hugs make sure you look after yourself 💐

ALittleBitofVitriol · 08/04/2022 05:18

Ouch @rickandmorts, baking is a tough gig at the best of times! (My dh is a baker).

My babies wore grow suits with vests underneath. You only need socks if the grow suits don't have feet, ime they lose socks all the time. Sometimes two piece outfits like a t that snaps together at the bottom under leggings - with socks/jumper if necessary. We did a lot of grow suits and extra blankets to help regulate the temp. I was told that what you're wearing plus one layer was a good baby rule of thumb.

Had an ultrasound this morning, all looks perfect! 9 weeks. Cute little blobby.

Ah boo I don't know why the pic posted twice...

Bramblecrumble21 · 08/04/2022 06:30

@rickandmorts I've been tired but not at work. However, my work is pretty undemanding. Although I do long shifs (three a week) I'm a little worried about the next week as I have 3 in a row (due to easter weekend) and I have mostly been doing Monday Tuesday and Thursday. I have been most sleepy looking after my preschooler. Twice we've watched totoro after lunch and I've napped through it.

We need to buy a pram/travel system. We were given an oyster but then we were asked to return it. I think I'll get a second hand one. There's always loads on marketplace. We have a cupboard full of clothes but may need some warmer newborn stuff as dd1 was a summer baby. Socks are a pain, they fall off. Some people use sockons. I used to do tights under trousers as girls trousers/leggings are so thin. However, I'm thinking about a mobile baby.

FlowerJ · 08/04/2022 06:53

@Kathno4 I absolutely love Next baby clothes 😍

@rickandmorts I just used to put a short sleeved vest under a baby grow or vest, leggings and top. Buy loads of socks as you constantly either lose them or they get eaten by the washing machine haha. Then just a snowsuit or a coat with a hat and blanket for winter walks 🙂 My DD was a Feb baby.
I'm on annual leave atm but dreading the 5.30am starts and night shifts when i go back!

@ALittleBitofVitriol Aww hi little one 😍 So glad your scan went well!

Cheetocat · 08/04/2022 07:43

Was supposed to do a first thing in the morning urine test but woke every two hours for a wee, couldn't get back to sleep unless I let it out. I think I'm gonna have to get another container and hold it 4-6 hours in the day time.

@flowerJ I had completely forgotten about snow suits! Thank you.

Got my booking appointment booked finally but had the most unsettling conversation. I called back 6 minutes after a voicemail and the conversation went midwife: 'hi, how are you? Me:'im fine.' midwife "are you sure, you sound peaved?' me'.... I'm ok, I just don't really like phone calls.' midwife 'what are you calling for?' Then she said lots of information fast, I've forgotten most of what she said as I have low audio processing and was really put off. But I've got the date and time, but actually, I don't know where. I guess I have to call back.

God, that would really put me off, I hate talking on the phone. Hope you get the rest of the information without any trouble.

@Bramblecrumble21 Sounds like such a waste of a call!

I agree I'm a fan of short sleeve vests with a babygrow with feet for those early months. So much easier and no need for socks. I feel like full on outfits just don't look comfy for them and a pain when they inevitably poo through half their clothes!

I like Sainsburys for baby clothes, lots of neutral options including coloured clothes that aren't gender specific. They do lots of different colours than just blue and pink.

Pamctake2 · 08/04/2022 19:52

Haven't been on in a week or so but just wanted to check in. Hope everyone and their bumps are doing well 🥰 just read the last few messages and on the clothes front I honestly bought so little, we got given SO much stuff think we just bought a couple of multipacks of zip up sleepsuits and long sleeved white vests. I've got a 1yo and have managed to avoid the baby section of any actual shops so far, always get my partner to do a quick online order from JL when necessary 👌🏾

Cruz86 · 08/04/2022 21:09

I really don't like to admit this, but is anyone else on a McDonald's diet or similar? I can't seem to stomach anything in the evenings apart from a bloody burger!!

sarahj878 · 08/04/2022 21:18

@Cruz86 I’ve literally just sent husband out for one for me because I couldn’t stomach any tea. I can’t stomach anything now to be honest and have been retching all day and night but I feel like I need to eat something. I’m struggling to drink anything in the morning because of nausea and then last night was so thirsty I drank a load of water quite quickly and kept dashing to loo after. Today I’ve hardly had any water and now all I can stomach is salty chips Confused

Bramblecrumble21 · 08/04/2022 21:24

My first pregnancy I craved those salty Macdonalds fries. Not this time.

sarahj878 · 08/04/2022 21:27

Well I spoke too soon because I’ve just thrown up 6 times in quick succession and that’s before the fries Sad

smiles39 · 08/04/2022 21:28

I’ve literally had my first McDonald’s in ages tonight, those salty chips were soooooooo good.

Cruz86 · 08/04/2022 22:55

Oh no @sarahj878! I hope it's stopped now? To be honest, the food went down well but I've gone straight back to feeling nauseous 😩

Thinking about it @Bramblecrumble21, I craved McDonald's with my son too!

roobearbaby · 08/04/2022 22:55

I've just been to see a show with some friends and couldnt resist stopping at the Drive Through for a McDonald's on my way home! I my regret it with heartburn in the night but I feel like it was worth it 😅

ALittleBitofVitriol · 08/04/2022 23:07

Yes, I've done a sneaky maccas a couple of times and very much enjoyed myself 😄

Cruz86 · 08/04/2022 23:22

I'm so glad it's not just me 😆

Sarahandduckarehigh · 09/04/2022 08:10

@Cheetocat

Have any of you already purchased anything for your November baby? I don't know when it would be realistic to start.
I wouldn't but anything until 20 weeks at the earliest. Not because of superstition but just because it's such a way off and I have nowhere to store anything! What will be baby's room is currently my office and is full of the 3 year old's clothes. I need a massive sort out.
Sarahandduckarehigh · 09/04/2022 08:15

This is my third and since my first I have totally sworn off anything other than babygrows in the first 3 months. Any outfit only gets worn for maximum 4 hours before it gets poo/wee/sick/milk on so cute outfits are totally pointless! And socks are a PITA!!
I totally feel for you with the 4am starts. I had to get up at 5am last week for a work trip and thought I was dying.
