17 weeks and I think I'm losing/lost the baby

Had another thread about midwife not finding the heartbeat and how I'm having a scan tomorrow, but I'm having cramps today in my lower back and down my thighs as if I'm about to come on and really sharp pains in my right hand side. I'm convinced I've lost the baby and my body is starting to catch up. I have tried phoning my midwife I don't think she's working today as no answer, I'm too early to go to the ward. What can I do? Or do I have to just sit tight until tomorrow? Sad

I'm so sorry to read this progression of events! I really was hoping that in your other thread the problem was with the midwife or doppler used and not the baby xxx

I've had one natural miscarriage (and one missed mc with surgical management) around 10 weeks and the pain was unbearable, I can't imagine how horrible this must be at 17 weeks. But you're in the best possible place with professionals around.

Dh just keeps saying it's not over yet and there's a reason they won't confirm miscarriage and I just can't understand they've not found the heartbeat multiple times I'm bleeding in pain and then that speculum was worrying how can he still think there's hope. I'm scared to talk to anyone in real life and explain in case he's somehow right and the baby will be fine on the scan but it just feels like false hope

You dont have to explain yourself to anyone right now... you can say that you are experiencing some serious complications with the pregnancy and awaiting more tests.
Your DH is holding onto hope and perhaps in denial a little. Maybe his way of coping. You are going through it and you are more aware of what is happening with your body. Ofc there is always some hope until it is confirmed but in your place I think I would also find it hard to think that way.

Do you know when they will be able to scan you this morning?

Kaw10 · 21/03/2022 08:14

When is your scan OP?

cataline · 21/03/2022 08:19

If he doesn't have hope you both have to deal with the alternative and he's trying to protect you from that until he can't. It's his way of coping, that's all. I know it's probably frustrating though. Be kind to each other Thanks

What time is your scan?
Iv had pain and bleeding at 20 weeks in one of my pregnancies and I had thrush and baby was fine. So there is other reason for pain and bleeding, and with an anterior placenta it might be very difficult to find the heart beat which will be hiding behind the placenta. There is still hope

They've just said my scan is at 9 so atleast I get answers soon

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through!
I’m really hoping for the best for you!
Your dh doesn’t want to give up hope yet.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with talking to people in real life too. What you are going through is stressful no matter what, you’ll need people to support you! 💐

Thinking of you. My dh was the same, kept saying there was still hope even though there clearly wasn't. Didn't help that the Drs were still saying they weren't sure and I might have mixed up my dates when the scan after I started spotting showed an empty 6 week sized sac when I was supposed to be 12 weeks. I suppose they say that in case they get it wrong and you sue them but it's really not helpful.
