I'm 43 my husband is 50. He has anti sperm antibodies. We tried ivf and icsi a few years ago but no luck. We adopted two kids and we are a happy family of four. The kids are in their teens.

Haven't had a period since november presumed menopause. Just to tile it out ive done a pregnancy test. You can guess the rest.

How many of these are
False positives with the menopause etc

What!!

Omg what a story ! I doubt they will be false positives , these tests test for levels of HCG in your urine and HCG is only produced in pregnancy ? How do you feel about it or does it not feel real yet ?

Lagarthatheviking · 14/03/2022 21:44

Congratulations!

GeneLovesJezebel · 14/03/2022 21:45

Congratulations ! How wonderful.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 14/03/2022 21:47

Well I wasn't expecting that... Congrats!

WelshyMaud · 14/03/2022 21:48

Oh wow, congrats op!

Very unlikely to be a false positive. I'd get yourself to the GP ASAP though, depending on when in November, you could be anywhere up to 20 weeks gone!

Furmummy · 14/03/2022 21:51

Congratulations - I was early menapausal and got told couldn’t have children - I’m now 30 weeks pregnant naturally. I didn’t believe my test and got it confirmed by EPAU as asked them to do bloods. The doctor assured me you can’t get a false positive with menapausal hormones - congratulations!!!!!! Xx

McScreamysGhostPants · 14/03/2022 21:51

Conversations op!

McScreamysGhostPants · 14/03/2022 21:52

And congratulations too 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

BigskyMontana · 14/03/2022 21:57

Wow congratulations!

To get a 3+ you have to have quite a high level of HCG. I doubt that could be a false positive. I would book a private scan and see what’s going on. Have you had any other symptoms?

Ellie5341 · 14/03/2022 22:29

Congratulations!

ChloeHel · 14/03/2022 22:31

Oh wow congratulations! You must be at-least 16 weeks if it’s from November/December!

Let us know how you get on with everything!

Allaboutyou222 · 14/03/2022 22:35

Awww that’s great. How you feeling about it? I bet it’s a shock.

Btw I was 45 when I had my DD!

Flowerbug1994 · 14/03/2022 22:39

Congratulations. It must be a massive shock and the fact that you could be quite for along. Look on the bright side if you are over 12 weeks then you’ve done the hardest waiting part thag but is drag xx

MarmiteCoriander · 14/03/2022 22:42

How are YOU feeling with this news OP?

Qwill · 14/03/2022 22:45

Yes, how are you feeling? It must be a shock.

HammerToFall · 14/03/2022 22:50

@MarmiteCoriander

How are YOU feeling with this news OP?
I don't know! Part of me doesn't believe it, part of me thinks I can't do it all again, my youngest hasn't been easy and is currently on a provisional placement in a PRU as she is unable to manage in mainstream. My oldest is doing his exams and leaving next year to go in the navy!

I think I need a scan just to clarify and confirm everything. I'm googling false positives oeri menopausal giving false positives but it doesn't seem to be a thing.

Also I'm worried as I've drank not knowing. I take tramadol slow release for my arthritis and this can pass through the placenta.

And ridiculously I work in maternity. I'm based in labour and delivery ward but I have dealing with the service and often cover in antenatal and post natal wards. I know everyone there and it's freaking me out.

What's the next step, do you go to your doctor to confirm the pregnancy. I have never done this before. Haven't got a clue

Congrats i bet its a massive shock just now . how you feeling. To get a 3+ means you are pretty furthet than you think..

kathykat · 14/03/2022 22:55

Congratulations op! I found out I was 20 weeks pregnant at the beginning of the year!
I got the contact details for the community midwife (my area you self refer, gp will give you details if you can't find them online). They were really great and got me in for a scan within days due to being so far along. I'm sure they'll be really keen to get you in ASAP.

bluebell34567 · 14/03/2022 23:16

Congratulations op! what a nice surprise Smile

NeverChange · 14/03/2022 23:21

Wow, congrats on your miracle!

Haggisfish3 · 14/03/2022 23:24

You don’t need to confirm at gp anymore. Just get number of local midwife and phone to make appt with them.

strawberrysummer19 · 15/03/2022 07:05

Wow! What a story and an inspiration for some also.

Early pregnancy scan I would think to see how far gone you are xx

DesignerRecliner · 15/03/2022 07:06

Personally OP, the quickest way to get everything checked out is a private scan, they're usually around £50 for a dating scan and they'll be able to check how far along you are and if there's a heartbeat etc etc. you could be almost halfway if no period since November though! Congratulations!

123walrus · 15/03/2022 07:16

As @DesignerRecliner says the quickest and easiest way to start is to book a private scan. You may even be able to get one today. That’ll tell you how far along you are and allow you to consider your options.

Good luck

Rrrob · 15/03/2022 07:19

Wow how exciting! And what a shock! My last period was mid Nov and I am 18 weeks tomorrow…so you are probably nearly half way along!
I would get a private scan today/ tomorrow to confirm and then book an urgent booking appt at your hospital of choice.
