@paintfairy I'll have one of each!! 🥳🥰💖

Kate105 · 03/02/2022 19:51

Hellooooooo I have been back at work today for a KIT day and omg I bloody loved it ❤️ was in for interviews (bloody love an interview) and I wore nice clothes and nice shoes and had actual adult conversations not about bodily functions or how tired I am ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ and TSD actually behaved for his granny so we are winning! And we've hired someone super nice so it's all good 🙌🏻 now to chill with a glass of wine and a Gu pudding because breastfeeding means you can eat what you want, yes?

I'm still knackered though, 4am chats are not the one 😭 now we've officially hit 4 months I'm just waiting for the wee bastard darling to get over his cold and then we are on to sleep training!

Taking TSD swimming for the first time tomorrow. Have some swim nappies so felt very smug and prepared, except now Google tells me that he probably should have some sort of wetsuit thing to prevent him from freezing up. Oh well, too late now... let's just see how blue he goes!

Juno231 · 03/02/2022 19:53

@SWAttempting congratulations!! The full set! How many weeks are you now, I thought you weren't at the gender scan stage yet!

@paintfairy haha I love that you're assuming your baby will be like you 🤣 I got bored today and set up a spreadsheet to pop stuff on whenever I think about something else we need/want. Purely because I all of a sudden remembered I'll need things like baby nail scissors, a forehead/ear thermometer thing etc. The small stuff that I'll def forget otherwise.

@becarefuloutthere yes please squeeze Baba out on the 22nd!!

@Minster2012 in the UK it's just lasagne but ACTUALLY - in Italian lasagne is the plural for the pasta sheets and lasagna is the name of the dish

Had smoked mackerel risotto tonight and am feeling very content now ☺️

larrythelizard · 03/02/2022 19:56

It's size that means you 'need' to move the baby though not age @paintfairy so they may well still fit in the side sleeper at 6mo. DS did not! The cot we have converts into a full size single bed so will do him for a long time (well, it would have done except now we need the cot back and he needs a new bed 😬)

@SWAttempting that's the dream!

Sounds a fantastic day @Kate105, bet Granny is desperate to have him again now! I'm all for sleep training but be aware of the possible 4 month sleep regression which may or may not get you...😬😬😬

OP posts:
larrythelizard · 03/02/2022 19:56

I have a list too @Juno231 but mainly to stop me buying shit I don't really need! What time is your scan tomorrow?

OP posts:
SWAttempting · 03/02/2022 20:02

@Juno231 15+5 officially! 🥰 Went for a private gender today! Have another NHS one on Wednesday

paintfairy · 03/02/2022 20:14

@larrythelizard maybe I'll just hope it's not a big baby. 🤣 But if it's big yet won't sleep alone, I have an issue..... .
@Juno231 the problem is i don't actually know what needs to go in the spreadsheet. Pram, car seat, bed, sleepsuits, baby towel, baby bath, breast pads, after that I'm bloody clueless! 🤣
@Kate105 aren't baby pools warmer? 🤷‍♀️ God. Yeah mine would freeze too. 🤣

bez91 · 03/02/2022 20:36

@larrythelizard @Minster2012 definitely need to pester my dad to have her overnight. I'm not sure of the problem, he brought up me and my brother single handed from us being quite young so he's not green to childcare, I think it's probably more getting up at 6am will probably kill him! @larrythelizard sounds like you have a few lovely weekend planned 😊 definitely mention the migraines to MW, you seem to have had them a long long time

@Minster2012 yes it was me on about DHs fleece 😂 I saw them and wondered about getting one but they were quite expensive and I thought unless you'd fully filled out it might be a bit too baggy

@DKDK123 happy viability day, each day further now without a hospital visit is a win right 💪🏼

@kaylsd glad I'm not alone in stealing clothes 😂 I've told him it's really nice and comfy and he should consider buying another in a different colour - for him of course

@Justanothercyster interesting on the peanut app, always wondered if it was any good. Hope you're less sleep deprived today!

@becarefuloutthere yayyy you made it, happy maternity leave 🥰

@whatwonder that makes sense, my dad is pretty fluent in Spanish so I'm going to test him when I see him next on the lasagne/lasagna front!

@paintfairy think it depends on baby, we moved DD at about 5 months. The noises she made was like sleeping next to a farmyard and she was a light sleeper too so was always awoken by DH getting up for work super early

SWAttempting · 03/02/2022 20:48

@paintfairy -

Hakka is breastfeeding, steriliser for soothers, soothers, nappies, nappy caddy, changing mat, muslins for spit up, white noise (we have ollie the owl), baby wearing sling, bouncer/joie sansa so you can shower...

Juno231 · 03/02/2022 21:10

@SWAttempting haha that's funny cause I just had a chat with @paintfairy about haakaas today! It's on my spreadsheet 😁. 15+5 is brilliant, I'm so chuffed you'll have one of each

SWAttempting · 03/02/2022 21:12

@Juno231 I mean I had to pump exclusively while LO was in NICU but Hakka if you don't have to exclusively pump are amazing! Were you chatting on here about them? I can't keep up with this thread! It needs a WhatsApp chat! 😂

paintfairy · 03/02/2022 21:15

@SWAttempting I'll add them to my list!
@bez91 🤣 farmyard. God, DH can have the baby his side then. I'm a light sleeper and if DH is breathing I get pissed off. Never mind anything else. 🤣

larrythelizard · 03/02/2022 21:57

DS' days were numbered in our room from the night both him and DH were snoring @paintfairy - no one tells you how noisy the little potato babies really are when they sleep!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 03/02/2022 22:26

Quick jump on as been out to say good luck tomorrow @Juno231 💓will catch up on all the pasta chat tomorrow xx

DKDK123 · 04/02/2022 03:37

@larrythelizard you're really not having a good time of it with migraines at the moment 😣 Have you spoken to your midwife to see if they can recommend anything safe to take that may help?

@becarefuloutthere happy 1st no more going into work for a while day 🥳

@paintfairy They're 11-15 year old but all have autism so outbursts when they're dysregulated are part and parcel of the job. Luckily I was moved to one of the least violent classes so it's not a daily occurrence for me at the moment but the further on I'm getting in my pregnancy the slightly more nervous I'm getting when there's an outburst. 🙈
You definitely need to get your own prime, it's great for sleep deprived night feed orders then you wake up the next day to a surprise at the door that you can't even remember ordering 😂

Aww another girl 😁 welcome to team girl @SWAttempting! If we're all still chatting by the time they're teenagers all the team boys will be sitting smuggly while we moan about not being able to put up with teen girl mood swings, dramas and hormones 😂 Thats the stage I'm dreading most about having a girl. With DS I'm dreading the stage beyond that, the going out with the lads on a night out stage!

Chuckling at how much chat lasagne/lasagna can take up 🤣🤣🤣

Glad to hear you enjoyed your KIT day @Kate105. Funny you should mention 4am chats I had a photo pop up on my time hopp yesterday where DS is 4 months of us out walking in the snow with the caption when the terror has been awake since 4am with no signs of going back to sleep, 8am snow walk it is 😂
Aww enjoy your swimming today check your pools policy before you go tho as ours will only let baby in the pool if they have a disposable swim nappy AND a neoprane swim nappy over it, I got caught out with that first time as I thought just a swim nappy was fine. The wee wetsuit warmer things are great as they do get cold quickly but you'll be fine for a shorter dip this time and can ways get one for next time to stay in longer

I know you were having a bit of scanxiety for today @juno231 so here for a hand hold and can't wait to here how it went seeing your bubs on screen again.

Well my Gran definitely is a stubborn woman, she asked my mum how long till baby's born and my mum said around 14 weeks. She said she's going to see this baby and the nurse phoned tonight to say she's started eating a few spoonfuls of yogurt! She hasn't had the strength to eat anything in about 2 weeks! They've also managed to decrease her oxygen tube too, mindblown given she was on deaths doorstep but goes to show what the body can do if you have something to fight for. The docs said not to get hopeful, she's never going to make a 'recovery' as such but she may just get enough strength in her to last comfortably for a while longer yet. Bad thing is tho there's an outbreak of covid in the shared room next to her so we can't go visit as the whole ward is on lockdown. So glad she's in a single room of her own so I'm hoping the covid doesn't spread to her room 🤞

larrythelizard · 04/02/2022 07:17

Good luck today @Juno231

Your gran sounds like a hell of a woman @DKDK123 if Emily has even a smidge of those genes she's going to be absolutely fine! Incredible list you put together there!

@Minster2012 a bell, love it!

I was meant to have packed last night but just put some 7up and a pack of cards in a bag so need to get up and get going, DS needs waking too...my bed is so cosy though!

OP posts:
feliznavidad2 · 04/02/2022 07:25

What everyone else said about noisy babes @paintfairy I started wearing ear plugs when we had DS as he was so noisy when sleeping. Lots of grunting and snuffling. He grew out of it eventually...

Lots of luck for today @Juno231 x x

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 08:44

@larrythelizard potato. 🤣 Omg how did i not know this? @feliznavidad2 Like they aren't noisy enough when they are awake?! 🙈 Maybe I'll sleep in the other room then and the baby can stay with DH......

@DKDK123 thanks for the list! I'll save that for later. I hadn't even thought about medicines and all that side of it. Neoprene swim nappies?! Aaarrrgghhh.
As for the kids- that makes more sense. I thought you just taught horrible brats for a moment! Although you still don't want to be hit by a chair by a child of that size. I usually think I'm invincible, but suddenly when you have a baby to protect its not the same? At least you are well used to dealing with them and now how best to. It must be challenging. That's really good about your gran. Because actually old people could fight but they give up. Like with the not eating etc. So having the baby to think about might really help her turn a corner.
@Minster2012 yeah, see your list is kind of like mine, and that's the problem. 🤣🤣🤣 Also, this will really piss me off but I often shout to DH and he can't hear me (always got headphones in) which means I have to get up and go to him, to say anything. So I could be ringing my bell for a while! 🤬

Do most people use baby sleeping bags now days? The shops are full of them. It does seem lazy though? 🤣

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 09:22

@paintfairy add blue steak 🥩 😂🤪I never used swaddles, one more thing to then get them out of later on down the line (see @Kate105 and party arms!) yep on the sleeping bag front how do you mean lazy?. I also didn't think of meds but I might only get the essentials, same with the swimming stuff and @Kate105 my DS has never worn one of the wetsuit things 😂so wouldn't worry, stay with smug! Call DH on his phone 📞

Also agree your gran sounds amazing & she'll see Emily!

Are you off somewhere now @larrythelizard?

DKDK123 · 04/02/2022 09:28

@paintfairy it's nappies like this one. I might just be our pool with the double nappy policy but ours requires a disposable swim nappy like the Huggies ones you buy then one of these reusable swim nappies over the top of it before you're allowed to take them in the pool until they're potty trained. My old swimming pool didn't have that policy but the baby pool was forever being shut and cleaned for poos that had escaped out the legs of the disposable swim nappies so I'm guessing that's why this one had a double nappy policy in place to contain the 💩 😂

And baby sleeping bags I love, they were a total game changer once I discovered those! I swaddled DS for the first while but once he got stronger and wrigglier no matter how tight I thought I had the Swaddle he'd manage to escape and wake up cold and crying (mind you it was winter time) and would wriggle blankets off that id tucked over him. Shove them in a sleeping bag and there's no worry of them waking up because they've gotten the blanket off and are cold and it's safer too as they can't pull it up over their face like a blanket so its one less thing to worry about. If you do get a baby sleeping bag tho just be aware they have different tog ratings so make sure it's the correct tog for summer/winter you get and most will come with a handy card telling you what best to wear according to the temp of the room eg. Just vest or vest and baby gro along with the sleeping bag. Most sleeping bags the baby's arms are free but if baby still needs arms tucked away to stay sleeping (like DS did initially), some do them with poppers on the arms so you can tuck them in and release the poppers when they're older and want arms out. Think it was tommee tippee that did the ones you can keep their arms in that i got but there may be other brands that do it now.

Minsters Side Car - A few more bumps have now turned into babies - Thread 6
Kate105 · 04/02/2022 09:31

Lol @larrythelizard it already got us 😂 so now the worst of that is over (I hope!!!) we're onwards and upwards...

Good tip, thanks @DKDK123 I've dug a cover out from somewhere! God love your granny ❤️❤️❤️

Nice list @Minster2012 but where is the Aperol??? God I'm so excited for summer ☀️

Yessssss as Minster says @paintfairy the swaddle was incredible for the first couple of months but then disrobing TSD was hideous 😂🙈 so I would say short term gain, long term pain! We're in sleeping bags now and it's much easier than faffing with blankets.

Fell asleep bolt upright in bed last night, light still on, TSD on my shoulder. Must have been out for a good 2 hours... Ooops!

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 09:46

Aperol
Prosecco, yep I bloody love an aperol spritzer 😂
I didn't specify red AND white wine, should've
Also lots of bacon sandwiches 🥪
Lots to add @Kate105 😂

I might actually make a proper list at some point
