@paintfairy sleeping bags or swaddles - blankets are a big no no nowadays due to the risk of suffocation. Babies basically don't know to turn away from fabric covering their mouth/nose so just suffocate in their sleep. That's why cot bumper things are frowned upon now too.

@DKDK123 excellent list, thank you so much! I had completely forgotten about baby sheets for their sleeping areas. Also what's a top n tails bowl? I did laugh as I first read your list as if the first thing on it was "baby" - as in get a baby!

@Minster2012 I do have earplugs on my list tbh 😂. I'd have to add negronis to my alcohol list actually!

My scan is at 1630 today so another long wait! Thank you for the handhold @dkdk123 I hope it goes well!

@larrythelizard hope that migraine stayed away xx

becarefuloutthere · 04/02/2022 10:16

@SWAttempting aww congrats 👏🏾 loving the girl gang on here 💖
@Juno231 id so love to orchestrate that as her bday! Will start praying to the birthing gods 🤪 yum, your dinner last night sounded fab!! Good luck for scan later today 🤞🏾
Thanks @bez91 hope you're keeping well?!
@DKDK123 thanks lovely, I nearly cried with excitement yesterday 😂
Ah your gran sounds amazing! Go her!!
Top list there but I think @Minster2012 just a about trumps it 😜

It was so nice not crawling out of bed exhausted this morning, I mean I'm still tired as I woke 4 times for wees but at least I got bk to sleep until 945am 🙌🏾 now to get my bits waxed 😬😵‍💫

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 10:31

Happy first day of maternity @becarefuloutthere can't believe you are getting your bits waxed as your first thing!! Love it!

@Juno231 damn another long wait for you, I shall add negroni!

Oh and yesssss another in the girl gang @SWAttempting that's awesome!

Feel like a badgers ass today 🦡
Also if anyone has any suggestions on how to get a urine sample from my 30kg pure muscle pointer let me know, she's feeling better (looks like it) but seems to have a little issue down below maybe

Juno231 · 04/02/2022 10:40

@Minster2012 oh dear God.... Take her out for a walk and bring a tupperware to slide in under her midstream? 😂 Why the Badgers ass still, what does that mean in terms of poorliness?

@becarefuloutthere waxing your bits! Does it hurt more when pregnant? Happy mat leave!

@SWAttempting you didn't miss anything, I chat to paintfairy in like 3 other ways on top of this chat 😂

whatwonder · 04/02/2022 10:44

wahoo congrats on being a new member of the girl gang @SWAttempting !

@DKDK123 very useful list, thank you! and biggup your gran! She sounds like a pretty incredible lady :)

@Minster2012 loving your list too, and I second @Juno231 in adding negroni to the list, I have been craving those so bad lately. But very please that come Aperol Spritz season I will be able to drink again Grin

happy mat leave @becarefuloutthere how did the wax go?

Hope the day goes quickly for you @juno321 - not long to go now until you get to see bubs on the screen again :) x

@larrythelizard hope the migraine clears up today, has your MW/GP mentioned anything you can take for them?

larrythelizard · 04/02/2022 10:56

Happy first day of mat leave @becarefuloutthere 🥳🥳🥳

@paintfairy @Juno231 cellular blankets are ok for babies, there's a minimum weight limit on sleeping bags so baby might not come out big enough.

Havent asked any medical professionals @whatwonder - I think I will if they continue, I think that 4 days away from a computer screen will help

Love that list @Minster2012 - I'm still feeling too ropey to be missing alcohol but I'm sure it'll come

Finally left later than planned, DH was predictably useless and I got stuck at my nice neighbours dropping a key over. Mr no nap DS is bizarrely asleep 15 mins from home, ah well, doesn't matter today!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 11:33

@Juno231 yeah gonna have to take a large pot with me & keep her on a leash until she's weed I guess (they are rarely on a lead so she usually wees when I'm about 15m behind her!)
The full sentence I usually use is "rough as a badgers backside" Ive lost my voice, can't breathe much, deathly tired, I use it when I'm feeling rough in a certain way (also hung over!) however was woken up at 5.45 this morning so that doesn't help!

#teamsummerdrinking @whatwonder 🍹

@larrythelizard doesn't matter!! Anything goes now, roll with the naps!

If anyone is querying my baby list I present evidence A...

I've just been to my local post office which is in a Co-op. I bought some milk bread & non alc cider (my essentials!). A lady with a baby came in I'm guessing baby couple of months old. She bought a small bottle of red wine & an X-large bar of chocolate (her essentials maybe?). I rest my case 😂

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 11:51

@Minster2012 @DKDK123 @larrythelizard @Kate105 sleeping bag it is then. But note weight of baby. Got it! The swim pants look good! I can fully see why the pool would not want baby poo floating about in it. 🤣 Grim.
@Minster2012 my friend has a 1 heart old and a 6 year old. She drinks wine. A lot! 🤭
@Juno231 nearly lunch time! Half way there. I hope they aren't running late. I look forward to the update later.

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 12:07

@paintfairy it's the weight of the sleeping bag not baby! Usual is 2.5 tog then the stuff they wear underneath differs depending on temperature

@Juno231 gonna be checking in a lot to check all is good with you later

Vil10 · 04/02/2022 14:09

Quick check in on a busy day!!

@feliznavidad2 aww another baby girl!! Congratulations💗

@Juno231 good kick today!!🤞🏼x

becarefuloutthere · 04/02/2022 16:52

@Minster2012 haha I know 🤪 I figured I may as well get used to some pain! Aw poor doggo! Did you get the sample?
@Juno231 I've not had one since before my wedding in aug2019 so I can't remember. It hurt tho 😓
@whatwonder well I've not taken a look yet as my sister came round and then been on the phone till now catching up with friends so will have an inspection now 🧐 how's things with you?
@larrythelizard thank you 😊 hope your trip went well!
@paintfairy I have loads of sleep bags, given and bought. I still need to check the togs as I think they're all 2.5 🤦🏾‍♀️ luckily i have a room thermometer now so will keep an eye on the temp.
@Vil10 what you up to today then busy bee? X

Justanothercyster · 04/02/2022 18:36

@becarefuloutthere haha that's what I thought but I think being a secondary teacher has made just being with a baby all day a shock to the system! It's definitely hard work but I love her more than anything 🥰

@Minster2012 just a little bit chaotic then? 😂
I prefer your list! And urine... a VERY big funnel??

@paintfairy we use a snuzpod and it's worked from night one well 👍🏻 you don't need half of the stuff haha, nappies, clothes, food and sleep. Everything else is an add on I found!

@SWAttempting aww yay! Another one for team pink 💕

@Kate105 glad you enjoyed your KIT day :)

@bez91 She seems to have gotten over the crap sleep thing again so that's nice! All up and down haha

@Juno231 how did it go? Hope you're ok xx

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 18:53

A big funnel @Justanothercyster it's telling the dog to do that!

I haven't tried yet, cos I didn't want to then take it into town to the vets if I got it. Im effectively gonna try to get a dog to PIAP 😂🤪I've effectively had a holiday day today, I decided I felt awful so today was a day of rest (ok so dog walking doesn't count & I went out bought some paint & painted 4 windows but that only took an hour)
Had a nap in the afternoon, only my second so far & could've slept much much longer, then had a bath & washed my hair watching Cheer on Netflix.

@Juno231 hope all ok 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Juno231 · 04/02/2022 18:59

All went well! She's measuring ahead again so I was 13+1 and my new EDD is 11/08. She was wriggling all over the place, doing head stands and kicking me. Atm the placenta appears to be anterior but they said it doesn't matter at this stage as it tends to move by the time I'll have my anatomy scan. Which is on the 6th of April! Ages away at 21+6.

It was so cool though, he showed me her butterfly shaped brain, her full stomach and bladder to show that she drinks and wees so that's good. They also measured the blood flow in my uterus arteries to risk assess me for pre term pre-eclampsia and it was low risk so that's also all good.

The sonographer was HOTTTT so I'm glad he didn't have to dildo wand me 😂

feliznavidad2 · 04/02/2022 19:03

Ahhh been frantically refreshing for an update, glad all was ok and little lady looked active! 😆 at the hottie sonographer...

feliznavidad2 · 04/02/2022 19:04

@Juno231 that was for you, doh

larrythelizard · 04/02/2022 19:04

Yay @Juno231 have been checking in and out for an update, so pleased! Sounds a lovely lovely experience!

Lol at your day off with painting 4 windows @Minster2012!

Those room eggs are the stuff of the devil @becarefuloutthere at least it's not summer so it won't be red red red at you!

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 19:06

@Justanothercyster I think the snuzpod is what I'm leaning towards. I like the fact it can rock too. What do you plan on doing when she's too big for it? And do you carry it downstairs for day time or did you use something else? Wasn't sure how practical moving it really was?
@Minster2012 omg. PIAP. But you are so well practiced? 🤣
@becarefuloutthere I'm not even sure what tog you need for July? Not a lot I'm guessing! Our house is never cold though.
@Juno231 I think I'd die if it was a hot man! I don't think I've ever had any men thinking about it. Bar the ivf consultants.

Minster2012 · 04/02/2022 19:11

Yessssss @Juno231 that's so good to hear! Loving the update 💓😊❤️amazing baby girl AND a hot sonographer, what an end to a Friday 💓

Juno231 · 04/02/2022 19:23

I'm in the midst of cooking dinner but attaching a pic I took last month that I think might be of use

Vil10 · 04/02/2022 19:31

@becarefuloutthere manic day at work and moving out officially on Tuesday so sorting for my dad to come round with the van tomorrow to move out all the big stuff! And went to view a house after work, but I'm not saying anything else because whenever I do it never works out😂 how was your first day of mat leave?? And the wax? I've only ever had my bikini line done, maybe I should consider it for labour😂

@Juno231 so glad everything went well!!💗 also hot sonographer for the cherry on the cake!!

blackcurrantqueen · 04/02/2022 19:38

@Juno231 have also been refreshing. So glad all is well 🥰

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 19:52

@Juno231 yes that is useful! So pretty much can be used for anything other than hot weather. My house is never cold enough to be an issue the other way. So it hinges on what July is like! We all know it can be red hot or pretty average.

I do find it bizarre people worry about their hair for labour? Like anyone is looking? And if they are, then I want hair to obscure the view! 🤣

Vil10 · 04/02/2022 20:03

@paintfairy I think we're going to get the snuzpod too, from what I've seen when friends and family have used them they've always loved them and good reviews too! Then OH's grandma, weirdly, sent me a Moses basket that she loved and said if we liked it too could she buy it for us, and strangely it was the one I loved too, so we'll use that for downstairs!

Justanothercyster · 04/02/2022 21:51

@Juno231 so glad it went well! I was anterior too, no issues :)

@paintfairy @Vil10 it's useful as it's on a tilt which helps with gas! We've never actually rocked it 🙈 we had her in a Moses basket downstairs during the day initially as the Snuz is quite heavy, but I wouldn't say it's overly awkward to move. She naps upstairs in it during the day now as we use a monitor. We've still got to buy a proper cot 🙈 she's only 3 months but already getting too big for it! Will be transferring her to the cot once we've got it probably in about a month ish. The pod is super cosy and she's never had issues in it though :) I'd say get the little pocket storage attachment if you get it too as it's super helpful for night time changes
