@whatwonder yes very easy to get new next2me mattresses. Seem to remember I got mine on Amazon. Knowing how much this little one has been sick I think a random wouldn't want there baby on it either 😂😂

That does sound really stressful with the movements and CTG, I agree with frankly that is good reassurance and just have a very low threshold for going and being seen in Spain? Xx

@Minster2012 wow a baby born same gestation must be making it feel really real! I'm the same only 5' and 6'4 OH so these babies were always going to be a bit bigger !!

@Juno231 isn't it funny how they think you can just attend at the drop of the hat..!

Franklydear · 03/03/2022 06:07

@Juno231 oh it’s started, you must drop everything when summoned now, try to not get stressed with work
@Minster2012 I am 5’2 but all the boys in my family and dh’s are around 6, at 11, ds is nearly as tall as me,
@whatwonder I got a cot bed that lasted 5 years, matresses get replaced, I would get new, it’s not worth the worry

Franklydear · 03/03/2022 06:10

This could be really out of order and you might throw me out, but babies born in Spanish soil automatically qualify for nationality, and they can’t throw you out while in labour, a way to get European nationality....

Minster2012 · 03/03/2022 07:07

Tiny needle very tiny needle it was @Juno231 just in case @paintfairy is reading. Sorry I'm used to telling it like it is!! The appointments are a RIGHT ball ache @Juno231 but hopefully you can work around it, it seems to have got a bit heavy for you all of a sudden

Yeah there's a lot of taller men around & smaller women so it makes sense to take that into account???

@whatwonder yes you could go get a growth scan but realistically they won't do anything after that, just monitor & scan you another week so you should be ok to go then get scanned when you return

A screaming morning since 5.40am here today so what's the betting there's no getting dressed up for world boom day 😂🤣did I mention he was a great sleeper until 3 years old?! We got good baby nightmare toddler 🤣

I was also thinking about second hand mattresses & things when awake this morning & I thought it's things like you don't know if anyone smoked near it /in the house as well as the dips in mattresses (which a large baby getting larger will make a bigger one then if you put in a smaller baby it's going into a crater) so it's lots of things really

DKDK123 · 03/03/2022 07:56

Before anyone gets excited the photo is of DS to show @Franklydear something, dont get excited, still waiting happily in the turn to give birth queue 🤣

@franklydear don't worry I kept the special blankets that people had handmade for DS but also had a bag full of other ones which were just sitting in the cupboard going to waste which was such a shame as there were some lovely ones there just not enough time to use them all. So handed them into a womens refuge place incase any of them have babies.
I thought of you actually when going through DSs old things I came across the starfish blanket/sleeping bag type things someone made for him and thought you could make some for your stall. He used to love waving his arms and feet around inside it giggling then fall asleep (on his good days), it was hilarious to watch the wee arms and legs going in the starfish 😂 He was a winter baby tho so maybe sell them more in winter time they'd be too hot for summer.

@blackcurrantqueen refluxy babies are tough going but at least having been through it before you know there is eventually light at the end of the tunnel. How is DD taking to being a big sister?

@larrythelizard I think you hit the nail on the head with the secret to baby sleeping is in the baby! My friend has 4 kids, she says 2 were an absolute doddle to get to sleep and 2 a complete nightmare despite all her experience. My other friend with 2 kids said if she'd had her second child first she never would have went on to have any more she's such a hard baby. It gives me hope as DS was a terrible sleeper so im hoping I get it lucky 2nd time round 😂🤞

@Minster2012 The thought of a wee 28weeker is scary but also reasurring that they're both OK. That's the 2nd person this week I've heard of that had theirs at 28 weeks but again the other one is doing well too 😁
Ouch on your poor arm! But glad all's still going well. As others have said I'd take the measurements with a pinch of salt, they kept telling me DS was measuring too small but he was 5lb 2 when born, however bearing in mind he was a whole month early I thought that was a great weight, he'd probably have been a perfect weight if he'd went to term at that rate.

@whatwonder as we've said to minster, take the growth scans with a pinch of salt they seem to be mostly inaccurate. They will however have to cover their own backs by telling you to come back for a rescan, although realistically that's all theyll do is rescan and then keep scanning every 2 weeks to monitor the growth so whether you go in 72hours or after your holiday it shouldn't make much of a difference. if they were highly concerned about baby they wouldn't have let you leave the hospital and definitely wouldnt have okayed you to fly. How far along are you now? As others have said just make sure you have good travel insurance and if any concerns while away just go to hospital there. I like Franklys idea of dual citizenship as a bonus, not that we want baby out early but silver linings if it did!
I also echo what others say about the mattress, they're not that expensive in the grand scheme of peace of mind so I've gotten new mattresses for the cot, crib, moses basket and carrycot. But like everything baby related just read up on it from trusted sources and decide what's best for you.

@feliznavidad2 I had morning sickness creep back in again around that time too, it lasted about 3 weeks and seems to have disappeared again now. There must be a big hormonal surge around that point, hang on in there.

@Juno231 I love how you're expected just to be available last minute to jump to an appointment 🙄

28 weeks today 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Little Emily is so strong her movements actually hurt at times but I take every punch and kick as a win, she definitely has been our wee fighter 🥰 Scary thing is I'm now down to single digits, 9 weeks at the latest till she'll be getting evicted that seems to have flown in! 😲

Minster2012 · 03/03/2022 08:21

Ooooo that's a great idea for @Franklydear how gorgeous is that?!!

So glad Emily is fighting away in there & good and strong, not too long left though!! It's scary isn't it?!

larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 08:26

Oh yay of course the lasagne scan @Minster2012 that's really not long! Migraine mainly shifted by bed, no idea what caused yesterdays, annoying! Ooh yes genetics vs carrying will be fascinating!

Oh that's stressful @whatwonder, pleased you went it and got monitored though. Surely they'd have told you not to fly if it was that concerning?

Nothing like organisation @Juno231!! Hopefully you can work around it?

Thankfully world book day dressing up not a thing for DS' nursery as he's not a fan of fancy dress!

Get you @DKDK123 -28 weeks!! That really has flown...the next 9 will too no doubt. That starfish is really cute!

Justanothercyster · 03/03/2022 08:53

@2020mission we've been trying this whole "drowsy but awake" shenanigans lol, only tip is make sure he's REALLY bloody drowsy but has his eyes open to see where he is, then shush pat and head stroke. Persevere, it takes a long time!

@Lexber exciting!!!

@bez91 thank you! It's not as bad as it was the last couple of weeks but still not great 😞

@Minster2012 @larrythelizard oooh have you got a link for that programme? WhTs the basic idea?

@Kate105 thanks for sharing :)

Will have to catch up again later as I've just been gifted with a morning poonami 🙄

Kate105 · 03/03/2022 09:01

My OH is only 5"9 so we don't have the same issue... in fact, we have it the other way. Have to roll up all the Pope's sleeves and his feet are nowhere near the end of his babygrows 😂😂😂 in fact had a 5am wake up last night. Not because he was hungry, but because his sleeve had rolled back down and he couldn't suck his fingers any more 🤦🏼‍♀️

Ohhhh that's so cute @DKDK123

I'm not sure why, because I'm not usually an overly anxious person or anything, but the situation in Ukraine is really stressing me out. Couldn't get to sleep for ages last night. Filled 2 bin bags of clothes so far to donate to our local Polish shop which is collecting for Ukrainian refugees. Taking the opportunity to "regift" some of the outfits I've been given for the Pope which aren't really my thing 😬 best to give them to someone who might actually be grateful!

larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 09:07

Me too @Kate105 - and we had a company wide call thing yesterday and the CEO said it had taken until yesterday morning to make sure all the people in my company in Ukraine were safe and it just brought it all home again. I'm waiting for payday then going to make some ££ donations.

It's an app @Justanothercyster and you buy it based on age - I got a special offer at some point and bought the whole thing up to 3 years. They're on Facebook too and you can read other peoples questions etc. A poonami, lucky you!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 03/03/2022 09:13

I also got it on special offer @larrythelizard but yeah @Justanothercyster it's based on the principles of certain ages need to "be awake" for a certain rough time to then "build up enough sleep pressure" to keep them asleep. I really liked the routine of it as it gave guide times for naps based on ages so it gave me a structure to work too, but the shushing & patting features heavily 😂ahhhh the poonami's remember them well

@Kate105 DS's school are doing shoe box donations for kids so it's good timing as they are asking for things in buying atm for the baby & im also adding in some sleepsuits we were given that aren't really us

@larrythelizard I just got him to school for the morning dressed up, boom!! First time ever. Despite a morning of tantrums. He's off to "arrest his friends" and im back to sort more baby stuff 😂

Minster2012 · 03/03/2022 09:38

Oh and also using consistent "sleep cues" for all sleeping /naps which are a comforter, constant white noise & darkness. Like complete darkness to signify "we sleep when it's night" @Justanothercyster

Vil10 · 03/03/2022 09:52

@paintfairy yeah that would drive me insane!!! I'm also looking at the BT monitor, a few people I know use them and like them, just wonder what the range on them is like!

@Minster2012 I mean I've never had orange, only lemon, but maybe I should try it!! I'm excited to try the paint, I'm part of the forum on Facebook so I'll get some ideas from there and then maybe a YouTube a tutorial! Winner on having more stuff from DS than you thought!!

@larrythelizard so glad you got to hear a nice heartbeat!! Hopefully you're 20w scan will come through soon!!

@Minster2012 wow what a faff!!! I swear sometimes they have no idea what they're doing and their communication is just awful!!

@blackcurrantqueen ohh sorry to hear to your struggling with a reflux baby and allergies too! How's it all going though?? How is DD1 taking to big sister duties??

@feliznavidad2 yoga and food out sounds lovely! I'm at yoga tonight too!

@Minster2012 glad to hear baby girl is doing well and wriggling away!! All these needles don't sound fun!! Luckily all I've never is the standard blood tests, I'm rubbish with needles and injections, really hate them!! The time between Your next scan will fly!!

@larrythelizard ohhh the headaches aren't they bad!! I've been struggling with sinus headaches these last few weeks, I try not to complain but they really aren't nice!

@paintfairy @feliznavidad2 @whatwonder @Minster2012 @blackcurrantqueen I think I agree on the getting a new mattress for a second hand next to me crib, like others have said if yours is a 6lb baby and the mattress belonged to a 10lb baby there'll be a big dip, you don't know if it's come from a smokers home etc, I'm quite ocd with things like that though and would have to get a new mattress, but suppose it's what people to decide is best for themselves and their baby!

@whatwonder I also agree with frankly! Try and enjoy your holiday x

@Juno231 oh that's annoying, nothing like last minute!!

@DKDK123 28 weeks!! Amazing!! Little Emily really is a fighter!!

So we got some good news yesterday, the vendors in the house we're buying have had an offer accepted on a property and the vendors of thst one have said they'll move out and rent somewhere once it's all gone through so there'll be no good ups or delays🤞🏼 so searches and surveyors are all underway and we should get those back in 2-3 weeks, mortgage advisor got in contact with us yesterday and we've sent over wage slips, bank statements, proof of deposit etc so he can get going with our mortgage, so looking like we'll be in by May time which will be perfect!!

Vil10 · 03/03/2022 10:01

Also started having green smoothies from this morning!! I've found since being pregnant I haven't ate as much green veg as usual so starting with kiwi, spinach, kale, mango and pineapple juice smoothies! Also tried introducing egg back into my diet as at the start of my pregnancy the smell and taste was just awful, like pollution so had egg and avocado on toast the last few days for my dinners but the egg whites just taste awful🤢 might just have to stick with avocado on toast!

larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 10:09

I love a green smoothie but the thought of cleaning the nutribullet has been enough to put me off for a while @Vil10! Fab update on the house!

OP posts:
larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 10:10

Oh and nice one @Minster2012, that's impressive work.

Ive arrived a bit early for my eyebrow appt so just killing a few minutes as they don't like you waiting inside still!

OP posts:
Franklydear · 03/03/2022 10:22

@Minster2012 world boom day 😜
@DKDK123 that is brilliant, love it, I'll find a pattern 🥰
@Vil10 the nutritional value is in the yolk, just throw the whites if that's better

Lexber · 03/03/2022 14:21

@bez91 washing machine in there made me smile - I'm more like a tumble dryer with a pair of trainers banging a bout yeh sides!! 🤣 we went out for tea last night and the kids freaked out when one of the babies started pushing out my belly making it move 🤣🤣🤣
@Vil10 I think I have most things now, should I need to go I think we would be ok...

While everyone is buying baby things I'm buying a new hoover 🤣🤣🤣

Busy week for me month end at work and training my temp replacement up too. 3 days in office and my hips are ruined I was in ago last night so working from home today - not ideal but needed for me! Means I can try and catch up here lol

@DKDK123 it's coming around so quickly- I hit 30weeks yesterday 😬🤰scarily they could be any time from now.. it yet I hope but in reality I need to be prepared!!
Someone in my due in group had her baby this week 28+- that scares me a little how easily they could just appear when they want! @Minitster2012 it may be the same baby ... are you on the May Fb page?
@Franklydear home made blankets are the best!! We were given 2 matts auntie knitted for the twins in white she did before the gender reveal but I'm sure she is knitting again in pink and blue 💙💖

Lovely to hear from you @blackcurrantqueen hope things ease up a little for you all regulus is hard and the allergies must be difficult too xx

@feliznavidad2 I have hit the hungry stage now they must be having a growth spurt as I seem to be so hungry all the time!!

@Kate105 PTSD 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@whatwonder they're behaving for now but so much stronger kicks now they take my breathe away sometimes!! Enjoy Spain, mine changed slightly but they'd both moved positions

Lexber · 03/03/2022 16:38

The down side to twins is that you can't tell if one has moved or not... possible reduction of movement in twin 2 girl but most likely moved positions 🤷🏽‍♀️ off to be monitored I go... checked my bags are ready just in case as I know if they are I won't need them and if they aren't they will keep me In (that's how my mind works 🤣🤣)

Juno231 · 03/03/2022 16:51

@Lexber oh that's annoying - I hope you're right and they've just moved positions!

@DKDK123 9 weeks!! You looked lovely in the pic on insta today 😻

@Vil10 oh it's all working out smoothly then!

My appointments today have really knackered me out! The 10.20 was so delayed that I ended up leaving at 12.15 and it was such a pointless chat. They're basically getting me back in next Thursday for a scan, followed by another appointment straight after. I also now have to go and get a bacterial flora test by going to a sexual health clinic tomorrow 😂.

Midwife appointment was lovely though and she said that with her I'll get to hear the heartbeat at every appointment 😁. Was lovely to hear the baby's heartbeat and get that confirmation that it's still in there 😂. Not sure if I should keep my private scan on Saturday now - I'm veering towards cancelling it but OH thinks we should keep it.

bez91 · 03/03/2022 18:27

Quick check in... Wednesdays and Thursdays are always absolutely manic.
Will catch up properly later.

Rant incoming... Work is peeing me off, still not put out advertisement for my cover so they won't be starting before I finish, I know shouldn't but just feel guilty as it'll get divided out between everyone else who already are swamped. I've blocked out my diary so I can't be booked anymore visits than the ones already in there, whose picking them up instead is anyones guess.
Also the 28 week bloods that they forgot to do last week at the hospital they did at the midwife base on Tuesday instead or so I thought until they rang me today and told me the hospital messed up processing them so I need to do them again next week, third time lucky hopefully 🤞🏼

Will catch up now..

larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 18:29

I hadn't thought about that @Lexber particularly now they have limbs everywhere! I like your reverse psychology around the bags though! Fingers crossed she's just moved and all is good.

I've not been to an appt yet which is on time @Juno231 I don't really understand it! Pleased you have a bit of a plan now though. Maybe push your scan to 24w or something if you're having one next week, then presumably 20w not too far off? I imagine if you're in for extra scans later on they wouldn't start until 28w?

OP posts:
Juno231 · 03/03/2022 18:56

@larrythelizard good idea in theory but I'm 17 weeks atm and next NHS scan isn't until 21+6! I might as well keep it 😅 how did the eyebrow appointment go? I've never had one in my life!

@bez91 eurgh on the bright side you'll stop worrying about your colleagues as soon as you go off on leave 🙈

@Franklydear saw Spanish week in Lidl today and thought of you! Then also started thinking about how the only people i know who knit are spanish! Even my BILs Spanish gf's mother has knitted my baby something 😻

Minsters Side Car - A few more bumps have now turned into babies - Thread 6
larrythelizard · 03/03/2022 19:12

They did nothing to cover me in my old job and I pretty much stropped out a week early as they annoyed me (long story) and they coped without me @bez91, it's harsh but it's not your problem!

Ah ok yeah that's a way off @Juno231. I'm still waiting on my appt letter for 20 week scan, I think it'll be last week of April so a while still. Just a quick wax and tint, I look so much more out together without having to do anything about it!!

OP posts:
bez91 · 03/03/2022 19:30

@DKDK123 wow here within 9 weeks 🤯 I'm only 12 days ahead of you, I wonder how close we'll be in birthdays. Those star blankets are super cute! We have one although sadly not handmade. They'd sure be popular @Franklydear

Argggh what a pain on the allergies @blackcurrantqueen they seem so much more common in babies these days, you poor things 🙁

I'm with you @larrythelizard I breathed a sigh of relief that World Book day is a Thursday also none nursery day as it becomes bloody expensive 😆

@Vil10 great news on the house, really hope it's May for you 🤞🏼the smoothies sound good and will definitely keep your iron levels up. Mine is low so thanks for the inspo!

@Lexber hope all is ok, I can't imagine what its like trying to second guess the movement and position of 2 babies, one is hard enough. This baby never stops moving but because of the washing machine situation no idea on their position, it changes so frequently 😆

Sounds a pain in the bum with your appointments too @Juno231 😩 yeah I'd definitely keep the scan too! @larrythelizard I know I shouldn't care 😆 I won't when I'm gone but it's the whole thing of someone having to pick up my physical visits when I'm still working albeit from home that's the stress factor, they keep dating they'll sort it then don't 🙈
