Another two orders @Franklydear?? Love it!

I actually think the secret to baby sleep is in the baby @Minster2012 - I just hope the one I'm cooking is amenable to the old shush and pat. Also maybe a little more fun than their big brother, he asks to go to bed around 7 most nights...!

Jude is a lovely name @bez91 apart from I fell out with a man call Jude at work who was a bellend so it's out for me as it makes me think of him!

@blackcurrantqueen lovely to hear from you, sorry to hear DD2 is refluxy and allergicy but at least you have experience of it? How is DD1 finding her little sister?

Baby clearly wanted a snack too @feliznavidad2

Take some paracetemol if it helps @Minster2012 - mine was really dead after the Pfizer.

I've had peanut butter on toast and decaff tea for breakfast and it's given me heartburn. FFS there's nothing sweet, or acidic, or spicy or even pretty flavoursome in it!

I just realised that if we gave TSD his new full title of Pope TSD then that would make him PTSD which feels very appropriate 😂😂😂😂

Hope the arm isn't too sore @Minster2012 and that the hospital get their shit together today!

I also hope everyone had nice pancakes yesterday 🥳 I'm feeling smug because we actually remembered this year and didn't have to resort to the weird fridge lemon juice 😂

paintfairy · 02/03/2022 09:23

@larrythelizard yes, it's on Friday. Oh no, dreaded heartburn. Hate.
@blackcurrantqueen nice to see you! I'm glad you are keeping busy. 🤣 Ah, suppose its not the worse club I could be in!
@feliznavidad2 omg. I've managed to refrain from night eating so far. Its not good is it? They tell you to not to overeat, but when you are permanently starving its not exactly easy? 😫
@Minster2012 God, I hope they are more efficient today! Useless. How many blankets do we actually need do you reckon? 🤔 I've not got any yet.
@Kate105 PTSD 😁 Bless him.

We actually didn't have pancakes yesterday. DH went to get eggs so we could and we were going to have some after dinner for dessert. But we ate not that early and I wasn't really hungry! 🤦‍♀️ He wasn't bothered, so it never happened. We'll have to have them another night.

Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 09:29

PTSD ong I'm a genius @Kate105 😂😂

whatwonder · 02/03/2022 09:45

sorry gang, still struggling to catch up with everything, have been a shit passenger. has been a mad week at work (new starter joined my team on Monday) so have been flat out.

big congrats to @becarefuloutthere !! so glad to hear you're both doing well, sounds like you completely bossed your labour! missed the name though, did you post it on here?

people with events coming up (soz can't remember who to tag them) what about renting a dress/outfit?

@Minster2012 that hospital experience is such a joke, I'm having second hand frustration for you!

@Lexber wow you're next! hope the twins are playing nice and not causing you too much drama (Emily - you and mama @DKDK123 need to wait your turn!)

@Kate105 scandi naps all the way! and think, soon he'll be able to have his scandi naps in a pub garden, bonus!

I completely missed pancake day yesterday, was too busy with work then cba to make any when I got home. more fun when you're doing them with other people anyways (we used to make a big deal of pancake day at my old office, we had little induction hobs to make fresh pancakes and everyone would bring toppings. I love a lemon and sugar, but being Canadian ofc have to rep the maple syrup!)

Off to Spain tomorrow, tbh haven't had time to think of it. Baby's movements have changed a bit in the past day or so (although I've been on my feet running around at work for 10ish hours a day so that probably has something to do with it). Nothing like a last minute surge of anxiety before a holiday :/

whatwonder · 02/03/2022 09:49

also question for the group - for those who have bought second hand cots/snuzpods/etc - are you buying new mattresses for them? or not bothering?

paintfairy · 02/03/2022 10:00

@whatwonder the one I bought looks really good condition and was also used with a sleepyhead, so wasn't directly slept on. So I might not bother. However I haven't looked at it properly, so I will check it at some point. I'll buy a new one if I think I need to.

Juno231 · 02/03/2022 10:02

@Kate105 poor ptsd 🤣

@Minster2012 wow how do they manage to fuck up your appointments so often!! It's not like you have anything better to do 🙄🙄🙄

No pancakes here either, but purely cause I'm working late atm so have no time to cook properly. Maybe I'll make sure to have a pancake breakfast this weekend.

Sorry I'm not a fan of Jude but it's only because it's the word for Jew in a lot of European languages so always found it a bit weird to say!

Got a midwife appointment tomorrow but not expecting much as I don't think my trust does Doppler checks until much later. I've chased them three times about the cervix checks but no one has replied so I'm no longer impressed by them 😅.

Took me 1,5 to get into work this morning due to issues on the tube - I haven't missed this!

larrythelizard · 02/03/2022 10:13

😂😂😂 I quite like pope for short @Kate105

No pancakes for me either @paintfairy but I can't eat milk or eggs and couldn't be arsed to make any vegan ones!

I've been looking at dress rental @whatwonder but suspect I'm too fat. Need to take measurements and work from there at some point! Have you got time to get in for some monitoring today?

Yeah I considered going to an event at the Excel today and/or tomorrow @Juno231 but decided I couldn't be arsed in case that tube line was also on strike (clearly I didn't need much of an excuse as I haven't actually checked...!)

becarefuloutthere · 02/03/2022 10:21

Guys I'm so sorry for not posting more! It's hard keeping up with msgs in real life now, let alone here too 😅
Good to read everyone is well tho and eek @Lexber you are indeed next!!
Thanks @whatwonder I didn't write the name on here as I'm a bit para but if you have me on insta I put it on there.

Oh and pancake day completely passed me by of course 😅 but who needs a day to tell them to eat pancakes, live your best life girls and eat whatever you want, when you want 😃

blackcurrantqueen · 02/03/2022 10:28

@whatwonder I've always got new mattresses for everything I've got second hand, I think it's to do with SIDS, they're usually pretty cheap to replace!

@larrythelizard she thinks she's great 75% of the time - she hates her crying though which makes for some great fun🙃😂

@becarefuloutthere I can't even remember if I've said congratulations - she is gorgeous 🥰😍 xx

Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 13:18

Lunchtime check in

Def loving Pope for short @Kate105 @larrythelizard

@whatwonder I had some Canadian maple syrup on mine, the Mafia maple! Was lovely but for some reason the pancakes took ages so they weren't amazing, can't believe you did them in the office! I too always buy new mattresses, hope you have a lovely time in Spain

@larrythelizard was that the big meeting?

@Juno231 that's not an ideal commute 😬, what's the work got suddenly so much? Did you hear back from the other builder? The cervix checks (lack of) it's so bloody annoying what more can we do?!

@becarefuloutthere I bet its a bit hectic as a three are you loving 🥰 it?

larrythelizard · 02/03/2022 13:44

I'd take 75% @blackcurrantqueen. We've told DS now but not sure he gets it, he thinks it's a little brother though!

Hmm sort of ok @Minster2012 - Spanish man I was presenting to wasn't very impressed but only so much I can do about that, I have put a lot of energy and activity into it! How's the hospital been today?

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 14:00

Oooo a little brother @larrythelizard we'll see! We need more boys and you will have done your best def so don't worry bout it! Scan at 5pm so I'm going in for about 4.15 to try get rhesus D too, cos of the timing DH can't come either as he will have to go pick DS up which is annoying.

Oooo someone on the may group today had an emergency C section at the same day as me today 28+3, both ok by the looks which is great but it's like eeeeeeeeekkkkkk that's a real baby!!

feliznavidad2 · 02/03/2022 16:56

Hope you managed to get your anti D and scan is lovely @Minster2012

A little brother for your DS would be lush @larrythelizard ❤️

Lovely to hear from you @becarefuloutthere - hope you and babe are doing well!

@whatwonder I've heard the same as @blackcurrantqueen - it's to do with an increased risk of SIDS so they recommend new mattresses. I have bought a new next2me mattress one that was marked down due to a damaged box. Spain! 🇪🇸 holiday or work? Either way have fun, is non-alcoholic sangria a thing? 😉

Morning sickness appears to be creeping back at 22 weeks annoyingly. No vomiting but lots of nausea unless I eat. Feel like a bottomless pit. 😫 Yoga tonight and going for dinner with some of the girls from it which should be nice.

Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 18:53

Ooooo yoga mates @feliznavidad2 that sounds great 😊 not so great on the nausea though

So I got my anti D, mannnn that needle is big!!! And it had to go into my already painful arm 😬so i'm now feeling very sorry for myself 😆however, all good on the scan, apparently she was wriggling around loads but I couldn't feel much with her poking me too. Holder they said baby is measuring big 97% percentile and above their "ideal range" for my bmi (so it's in comparison to me) and about 3lb 4oz now so I got sent back round to antenatal clinic to talk to them. They checked the bloods from yesterday for the diabetes result and that's all good so it's just monitoring next time in 4 weeks 💓

2020mission · 02/03/2022 19:02

@Minster2012 I was told Matthew was measuring big - the 97th percentile too but he was born at 7lbs 1oz 😅 so don't trust their measurements too much!

larrythelizard · 02/03/2022 19:36

Yeah I agree they thought DS was going to be 11lb+ but nope, a more normal 9lber @2020mission

Sounds all good @Minster2012 next scan will roll around really quick now.

I'd be just fine with a baby brother @feliznavidad2

Migraine tonight. Ergh. Why oh why do they keep coming!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 02/03/2022 19:49

@whatwonder @feliznavidad2 @blackcurrantqueen The thought on the used mattress and SIDS is that the mattress is no longer supportive enough. But that surely hinges on the age of the mattress? If it's been used for 4 months I really can't see that it wouldn't be ok? Plus some really are quite thin and not really mattress like or supportive anyhow? But one 2 years old would not be like one 2 months old so it would hinge on how old the mattress was? There's second hand and second hand.......
@Minster2012 Don't tell me the injection is big! Bloody hell. Like I've not had enough?! Mind, so have you...... And yeah their measurements can be up to 20% out or something, so I wouldn't worry yet.
@2020mission yeah that's a completely normal baby size! @larrythelizard 9lb really is not! If mine is 9lb I shall not be happy. 🤣🤣🤣

Kate105 · 02/03/2022 19:58

I agree with the general consensus on mattresses @whatwonder I borrowed a next to me cot for the Pope (TP? Or PJ for Pope James?) and was just going to reuse the mattress but my friend made the decision for me by throwing her original mattress out before it got to me. So dutifully bought a new one (relatively cheap) and after 4 months of papal snoozes there is a definite dip in the mattress! So now I get it 😂 and HOORAY for Scandi naps in pub gardens! Cannot bloody wait 🙌🏻

And yes, I got sent to get extra scans because of "excessive growth" and told I had a 6lb baby at like 32 weeks... who then turned out to be a very normal 8lb11 and that was at two weeks over. Pinch of salt @Minster2012 ! I remember the midwife at the time telling me that the growth scans got less accurate the later you are in your pregnancy but I can't remember why 🙄

Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 20:14

Yeah I completely agree on the growth scans/weight potential for inaccuracy @2020mission @Kate105 & @paintfairy

& I guess (fortunately) cos she's coming out the Sun roof then it matters less anyway 😂but it's interesting cos X was 9lb so again it raises the genetic vs carrying debate. I think the genetics are more to blame & so why wouldn't X & this one (& my SILs) seem big compared to us when our husbands are well over 6' & us wives aren't huge 😂

@paintfairy it's not just time though, a 9lb baby at birth will make a bigger dip in a mattress than a 6lb one for instance over 4 months surely?? Or one for a baby who slept in it well vs one where a baby wouldn't stay in it long? So not just an age thing. Most ppl think it's not worth the risk

@larrythelizard I have rearranged lasagne scan too for 2 weeks so that's in between the growth scans 🥰another migraine???? That's not good, can you tolerate the coffee /salt that might help just a little bit?

whatwonder · 02/03/2022 20:46

okay good to know, re: mattresses! I'm borrowing a next to me cot from my SIL, so will buy a new mattress for it (assuming it's easy to buy new mattresses for old models?)

ended up going to maternity triage as I was getting really stressed out in the lack/change of movements. Ended up being there for over 5 hours - they saw me relatively quickly but were quite short staffed so had only a couple of midwives/obs looking after a bunch of patients. ended up having to do nearly 2 hours of ctg monitoring as baby was not being cooperative and they couldn't get a proper read on their heart rate. Eventually got the all clear, but was seen by the OB and she said I'm measuring small and recommends I get a growth scan in the next 72 hours. I told her I'm leaving for Spain tomorrow and her response was "well I can't tell you how to live your life, and it's not an emergency otherwise we'd be admitting you, but our advice is that you get a scan soon". So now feeling a bit frazzled with that. Left it that it should be fine me going to Spain and having the scan when I'm back but I need to go to hospital in Spain if I have any other changes in movement. Confused

Franklydear · 02/03/2022 21:20

@whatwonder Spanish nhs is wonderful for maternity and babies, only specialist doctors even in the smallest clinics, if it was an emergency they would have spelt to you absolutely no flying, just be cautious

Juno231 · 02/03/2022 21:43

@whatwonder i second frankly but just make sure you get travel insurance!

@Minster2012 as soon as you mentioned the needle I thought noooooo paintfairy will see that 😂

So I got a WhatsApp (?!) from the midwives telling me I got an obstetrics appointment tomorrow at 10.20am. So now I have morning and afternoon appointments for the baby and did I mention I have sooooo much work on atm? 😭

feliznavidad2 · 02/03/2022 22:44

Ah @whatwonder that sounds really stressful, poor you. Hope you're ok. Good reassurance from @Franklydear.

Re. Next2me mattresses (even older models), they're available pretty readily online.
