@larrythelizard I took deflatine yesterday, but it didn't do much. I just don't even understand why this is back?
@Justanothercyster hmmm, maybe whatever it is will be an issue. 🤣
@2020mission Matthew sounds like he's doing OK to be honest! Be great once you don't have to wake him for feeds!
@bez91 packing off the tampons. 🤣 If it makes you feel better!
@Minster2012 The issue is they aren't reasonable people so I'm not sure complaining would do much good? Its been screaming now since 7.30am. It doesn't even let up! And of course they won't have done anything sensible to know whether it's OK (we used a camera with ours). Neither do I suspect they care. So I'm not sure what good saying anything will do, but I'll have to get DH to do it. It never ends well if I speak to her. 🤣 I just don't any more.
Monitors! Aarrrghhh. Well I did think they might be difficult but I wasn't rushing to worry about it. You aren't meant to leave them unattended straight away, right? So I thought it maybe didn't matter if I didn't have that before birth. I've not even looked. Neutral the blinds will go with, and I'm a neutral fan. The scuffs less so. 🤣

We can't actually sort out our rooms until the inside of the wardrobe is finished in April (was May originally). Because I'll need to move most stuff from our room to do it. So room sorting is on hold until then. 🙄

larrythelizard · 01/03/2022 09:43

I think it's because pregnancy hormones can slow your digestive system down @paintfairy - baby girl probably just having a growth spurt or something!

It's the same MW I had with DS and she did do the heartbeat then @bez91 @Minster2012 but having read some of your experiences I wonder if guidelines have changed since then.

Oh god more needles @Minster2012! I want to ask them to check my iron levels, I do wonder if they're low.

Also used little ones here @Justanothercyster - but in a fairly loose sense of nap structure and guidelines about wake times. Matthew seems to be smashing it if he'll sleep all night though?!

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 for blood results today @bez91. Great idea for the tampons, I'm waiting until payday then going to make a donation.

Yes @DKDK123 tell Emily not to jump the line please!

I like the sentiment behind the names @Lexber - we won't choose family names although my cousin texts me every couple of days with yet another distant family name, a bit irritating really!

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 10:06

@paintfairy yeah you aren't meant to leave them alone for 6 months @paintfairy but I think a lot of ppl on here with their babies who are younger than that have proved that you might actually want to before the 6 months. Plus I'm trying to do all the shitty research buying things before birth whilst I still have some faculties 😂. Yeah I get the impression the neighbours might not be reasonable- do you think they will complain about a crying baby?? As in they think that might be bad but not a crying puppy???

@larrythelizard oh yeah ALL the needles hit me up!! Also from little ones the tickling feet to keep awake whilst feeding & take more, that we did ALL the time 😂

bez91 · 01/03/2022 10:51

@Minster2012 we have the BT baby monitor 6000, it's pretty good. We had my friends baby to stay last about 8 months ago and used it and just got it back out the drawer and it's still got charge 😆 signal wise though it doesn't cover past a certain point in the garden, I think to guarantee coverage you'd have to go via an app? I'm sure they're very secure but I've always thought urgggh what if 🙈

@larrythelizard I think guidelines may have changed as 4.5 years ago they definitely did the Doppler at my 16 week check and this time they seemed a little more cautious. Hope you get to hear the little one 🥰

Midwife app went ok and happy for now, weekly appointments now up to Dday it seems. She said my blood results hadn't yet been reviewed but she had a look and said all seemed ok and didn't indicate baby had an infection but the consultant would also look over them. I'm borderline anaemic which is ok. Had to have more bloods as apparently despite my 8 blood forms last week they missed one 😆 she felt baby's position and she thinks they may have moved head down but she did say she can literally feel I have a lot of amniotic fluid just by feeling around so baby will probably move again as she described it as like a washing machine in there 😆

Vil10 · 01/03/2022 11:49

@paintfairy hope it eases up for you soon🤞🏼 yayy to getting your bed back!! Cannot stand yappy dogs, id be fuming too!!

@Minster2012 it really is all systems go!! That fabric for the blinds looks gorgeous!! Love it!!

@DKDK123 there's something about them isn't there!! Hahaha maybe drop a few hints for him to secretly plan childcare!

@Minster2012 okay so what, you have orange juice on your pancakes????

@Lexber scary but exciting!! Do you have majority of the things for the bags??

@Ltay2 cannot believe he's 1!! Where has that time gone!!

@larrythelizard I do understand the worry but try not to, at mine she just did it, she didn't ask or say she'd do it if I wanted, it must be part of the appointment here! Hopefully you get to hear the heartbeat🤞🏼

@bez91 so glad the midwife app went well and bloods are looking okay!! Washing machine😂😂 as long as you and baby are well that's the main thing!!

So has anyone on here used frenchic paint?? I know Minster has heard of it, but we've decided in the new house we're going to frenchic the fitted wardrobes in our bedroom, and OH is going to do a tongue and groove feature wall between the wardrobes instead of us having a headboard, then fit in some wall lights, but I'm clueless with the process abd with what colour to go!!

SWAttempting · 01/03/2022 11:50

Opinions please...

How many pancakes are justified today?

Of course counting for me and for baby?

I'd say at least 12?! 🤣

Ltay2 · 01/03/2022 12:00

Monitor wise we have the BT 6000. I don't know if it has all the specs you guys might need but I have had no complaints! The screen is big, you can pan around the camera from the monitor for when baby inevitably shuffles out of view and can talk through it if needed although I've always thought that would be a bit creepy.

I would also 100% recommend the owlet sock for monitoring heart rate and oxygen. Obviously not actually needed but when you have a baby that insists on sleeping on his belly from newborn, or more to the point not sleeping at all unless on you then it gives some reassurance and allows you to get a bit of sleep too (obv against lullaby trust guidelines but you do what you have to to not die of sleep deprivation). V pricey but was a godsend for us and we will use it until 1.5-2yrs.

paintfairy · 01/03/2022 12:25

@Minster2012 oh yes, it'll probably be before 6 months here too! 🤣
As for the dog, its still screaming and they are still out. They likely will complain about a crying baby, yes. Despite the fact they've been through that (youngest has now started school). But realistically a baby isn't left in distress for 5 hours alone? The room the baby will be having is also not attached to them. Mainly because they are too bloody noisy!
The BT monitor sounds a winner! 🤣 And I'm a bit wary of those app based things? 🤔
@bez91 great news about the appointment!
@Vil10 its more crying and howling- its high pitched though and going right through me. 5 bloody hours! A neighbour used that paint on her front door, I had never heard of it until then. My bed was amazing! The wind is still there, I've tried a tiny bit of lactulose.
@Ltay2 1 is mental! How time flies.
@SWAttempting I always feel sick after about 3. 🤣

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 13:39

Oh god yeah @paintfairy I'm not saying you would leave a baby crying, more that they might complain about ANYTHING if they are 🍆

@bez91 @Ltay2 thank you for the recommendations, shall check them out, see I'm not bothered by the app /WiFi thing @paintfairy, my brother (IT dude) says it's no more susceptible to hacking than your normal network & if someone wants to watch my baby/toddler sleep or cry then more fool them! It was the only way we could be outside in our last house when he was napping 💤but DH often found it funny to look in when he was at work & I was getting him up and scare me by speaking through it 🙄

@bez91 do you are getting allllll the needles too!! Are you getting anything for the borderline anaemia or just gotta try eat more iron? Weekly apps sound good though.

@Vil10 yes orange juice and sugar was our go to pancake "topping", it was only as an adult that I realised this is not the usual & perhaps a bit weird!! The French chic my friend says you literally just paint it on, no need for sanding or anything & it should go on any surface. I'm not sure if you then need to wax it though like you do chalk paint?

@SWAttempting the correct answer for this scenario is "as many as you want" 😍if you have some fruit on one then you get bonus points for a portion of fruit!

Sat waiting for my consultant appointment, I think they are going to do the rhesus D today too so that would be fab.

From going through my stuff kept from DS I'm pleasantly surprised how much still nice stuff we have, so am sorted for things like sleeping bags of various togs, sheets
The car seats are all washed & sparkly but I've not put them back together yet & I'm making more lists.
We also have a RIDICULOUS amount of blankets & im sure we'll be given some too 😂

Maybe I could paint the baby's room 🤔 might mull that one over

larrythelizard · 01/03/2022 13:56

Heard a lovely strong heartbeat so all good for now, just waiting on the letter for 20w scan now. Consultant doesn't want to see me until 28w so that's also good to know, and will be a straightforward ELCS or not conversation - no other concerns.

Weekly appts a bit of a pain but better to be safe than sorry @bez91. Perhaps you could take inspiration from the washing machine analogy for names, what about Flash?!

Heard of it and seen it on the TV but never tried it @Vil10 - I bet there's loads of YouTubes?

Until you're sick surely @SWAttempting?

We use the Lollipop camera and app and no complaints. Not sure when I'm meant to stop spying on DS though?!

I'm still petitioning to repaint the nursery @Minster2012 despite DH telling me it's stupid (tbf he spent quite a long time painting it last time round!) so I'd deffo vote for slapping some paint on! Hope anti-D injection happens today!

OP posts:
bez91 · 01/03/2022 13:58

@Ltay2 oooh things have moved on from when I had DD 4.5 years ago, we had an angelcare device which is basically a pad you put under the mattress which detects if movement stops and alarms if so. We had a couple of scares which turned out to be nothing and DH literally jumping over the banister to get to get ASAP as it had alarmed 😆 she did have a heart defect so we were probably a bit OTT but that sock sounds perfect for contact napping!

@Minster2012 blankets 😂 we also have loads and I don't know why, I think people just have bought them but she was an October baby so maybe won't need this many! WiFi sounds the best for you then for range! Glad you're hopefully ticking the rhesus D off the list today, one less appointment for you!

bez91 · 01/03/2022 13:59

@larrythelizard yayy glad you heard it and all is well 🥰

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 15:08

Well what a palaver. NOTHING IS EVER SIMPLE.
Still sat at the hospital now waiting to get the rhesus D (an hour so far) so at least I don't have to be back on Thursday BECAUSE...I was told previously I needed growth scans from 28 weeks but one never came for this week, I chased & was told they had a meeting & decided I didn't need it. I get into consultant & she reconfirms my medication & said "have you had your 28week scan?"
No I explained I chased & was told about a meeting where it was decided not needed.
"Yes I was in that meeting but I wasn't aware you are on hydrocortisone, you need a scan then"

Well I'm not in that meeting, and it's surely PLASTERED all over my notes (which is the thing you have to go on??) so what else am I meant to do???

So coming back for a scan tomorrow at 5pm, and desperately trying to avoid the Thursday appointment too FFS why is it always chasing????

Anyways, @larrythelizard so pleased you heard a 💓 that's fab, it's properly real now!! I def think you should do a lick of paint, it's only cos ours will be demolished maybe even before she goes in it that im reticent but it makes me depressed it's that horrible so 🤨

@bez91 those movement pads I decided would make me more anxious than reassured so I steered clear of those

10 mins left on my parking ticket 🤨

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 15:16

Oh I got my 4th covid jab too though. LOVING these needles

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 15:37

Well my injection still hasn't physically left the lab so I have to go get the car & try get it tomorrow in advance of the scan
Honestly FFS

DKDK123 · 01/03/2022 15:57

@paintfairy nothing worse than listening to a dog howl all day as they literally don't give up, and you can hear the distress in their howl which isn't nice knowing there's nothing you can do to help. (Or old neighbours had a dog that howelled all the time when they were out and they did bugger all even after us politely saying we think the dog gets a but distressed when they're gone 🙄)

@lexber don't worry I've had a word with her and told her she's to wait her turn in line, no early appearance 😂

@Ltay2 one so soon, when baby's going through fussy phases and crying all the time it feels like it lasts forever but when they reach their first birthday you look back and think what a quick year, seems like they were only born a few weeks ago.

@Minster2012 fingers crossed they give you the jag today to save you another trip on Thurs. I can't remember what the make of our monitor is as it wasn't a well known brand name but it wasn't overly expensive, from amazon think it was about £30-40, we don't have a big garden but it does reach from upstairs to downstairs in the garden and you can scan the room with it. Had a static one at first but once DS was climbing out it was useless so I definitely like the being able to scan the room function. When DH comes home I'll get him to look at it see if the names on the monitor (I'm too short to see the top of it 😂).
Blankets was something we had tonnes of from DS too, I gave away a whole bag full of blankets and still kept 5!

@bez91 glad to hear alls still going well with baby, even if it does decide its going on a spin cycle in there 😂
We had the angelcare monitor in the crib for DS to, I loved the peace of mind from it as DS had breathing problems when he was born, but yea you'll never fly out of bed as quickly as the first time you heard that alarm go off during the night .....just to discover the wee bugger has just wriggled off the sensor 😂

@larrythelizard glad to hear you had a positive appointment too 😁

@minster2012 just read your last update, what a faff! Tho we did decide earlier that apparently being psychic is supposed to come with pregnancy apparently 🤔 However look on the bright side an extra peek at baby that you weren't expecting and don't have to pay for 😁

Kate105 · 01/03/2022 16:44

Sure thing @Justanothercyster we did somewhere between controlled crying and the gradual retreat method. So basically swapped the bedtime routine so that he's fed first, then nappy etc. Then we pop him down in the cot and to start with just sat there and watched him cry 😂🙈 but didn't pick him up and waited with him until he went to sleep. It literally took him about 4 days to get over himself and now we just pop him down and leave, it takes him longer to get to sleep if we stay 😂 don't know if that's of any use to you too @2020mission ? It honestly didn't take long at all once you get through the rough couple of nights to start with. Probably because he's still quite young (nearly 5m) so not enough time to get properly stuck in his ways! But Matthew sounds like he's doing great. Yay for boys!

Hmmmmm Pope TSD I like it @Minster2012 😂😂😂 we just have a cheapo ikea monitor (no video) but it's been awesome. It has good range for when TSD has been abandoned in the garden has his Scandi naps

paintfairy · 01/03/2022 16:59

@Minster2012 yes they are 🍆 of the highest level. The dog is still yapping......
Yeah I know what you mean about the WiFi stuff. I suppose the only issue is if the network goes down? 🤔 I think I'd be more worried about them tapping in and listening to me, as opposed to watching a baby sleep. 🤣 And I thought orange juice was normal on pancakes? @Vil10 Either that or lemon. Or maple syrup. 🤷‍♀️
@larrythelizard glad everything is OK!
@DKDK123 my dog is fine being left but I still wouldn't leave him all day from 7.30am? They still aren't back. Poor thing is going bananas. And yes you need to patiently wait your turn in line! 😁 No early babies here!
@Kate105 🤣 put him to bed and watch him cry. Sounds like a plan! I think it does work for most people though (within reason). And yes I think the timing age wise probably matters.
@minster2012 your update re the hospital is ridiculous. What is wrong with these people!? Painful. Its like they think you have nothing better to do than go back and forth because they can't get their act together? You can't even park at ours, its a nightmare. I picked the one I thought was easier but it's really not.

My blood test letter came back. My baby is positive group wise, so I'm also going to have to have the anti D injections! I'm sure though the midwife at 16 weeks said that I'll be back for my 25 week appointment and she'll check the results then, and if it was needed I'd just have to book another appointment to see them at 28 weeks. It's only round the corner, so that's not so bad.

larrythelizard · 01/03/2022 17:10

Piss up in a brewery springs to mind @Minster2012!

That sounds impressive @Kate105 - I did so much shushing and patting that those noises give me the shudders 2 years later!

That's not too bad @paintfairy and better to know these things! You must be coming up quite quick to your 20 week scan?

We've fed DS Nutella banana pancakes and now he's on a massive sugar high...I'm off to the gym shortly, hopefully before the sugar crash happens...!

OP posts:
Franklydear · 01/03/2022 18:44

@Ltay2 wow one!
@Vil10 it’s so fun to plan new decor
@Minster2012 😳 people giving you blankets? but surely some are special🥰
@larrythelizard the heartbeat, another milestone, that’s so good, good plan to leave before the crash😂
@DKDK123 but you can never have too many blankets, people!

Nothing much happening here yet, end of cycle coming, but I have 2 more orders today !

Minster2012 · 01/03/2022 19:42

Of course some are special @Franklydear, I alff at I have a lot of knitters in my extended family & I was given my blanket from when I was a baby from my mum so we used that for X a lot so lots of special ones too 💓

@larrythelizard definitely piss up in a brewery honestly so annoyed, I left home at 12.30, got back at 5pm. Omg the shushing & REALLY hard bum patting 😂I think I might try a mixture of the two this time, @Kate105's approach with the Pope & little ones techniques & sleep /awake times

@DKDK123 yeah our last one was about £40 from Amazon & was great, im trying to find the "newer" version of it. Yes I get an extra peek at her which is good, & now rearranged my hair appointment from tomorrow too & also the lasagne scan for 2 weeks so then it's a scan every 2 weeks til 32 weeks

blackcurrantqueen · 02/03/2022 02:58

Hey all!

Just a little check in from me whilst I'm sat propping my refluxy baby up after her feed!

Loving reading all the updates and seeing you all making progress, can't wait to start seeing some babies!! 💗

We are all good, though struggling with reflux and allergies - shouldn't be surprised as DD1 was the same (omg DD1.. that feels WEIRD!)

@Vil10 can't wait to see the new house!!
@Minster2012 loveee the rainbow fabric, sorry the hospital are crap!
@paintfairy sorry you're joining the anti d crew 😂😘
@Lexber that bump! Can't wait to see photos of those babies!
@larrythelizard love the idea of a custom canopy; I ordered new sheepskins for mine which makes it feel new, also got the double buggy which has been useful so far!
@bez91 I love the name Jude - would have been our boy name I think!

feliznavidad2 · 02/03/2022 03:00

Hey @blackcurrantqueen 😊 👋🏻 hope you and babe get back to sleep soon.

I've just had to go and eat some cereal as woken up sooo hungry. And still struggling to get back to sleep. 😫 Feeling lots of baby wriggling though which is nice. ❤️

blackcurrantqueen · 02/03/2022 03:07

@feliznavidad2 thanks! Biscuits have become my night feed snack.. I have consumed FAR Too many chocolate digestives!
It's so funny when they decide to have a little midnight party isn't it! X

Minster2012 · 02/03/2022 07:23

Yummmmm biscuits @blackcurrantqueen 💓

@bez91 I really like Jude too, I don't think it should be taken off the list cos of Nan

@paintfairy it's an exclusive gang this anti D gang, let's hope your hospital can take it out of the bloody fridge when you need it. You get it at 28 weeks

Feeling sorry for myself today, my arm REALLY hurts after the covid jab, it's not hurt like this before. It's not dead it's painful 😖
Gonna try have a pretty chilled day today in advance of the (hopeful) rhesus D later & scan. Need to persuade the dogs they can chill 😆
