Yes that's it @whatwonder! Was a fun day trip!

As im the higher earner, DH keeps joking im going back after 6 weeks @Juno231 - I think not! I am not looking forward to SMP 😬

Lol were you not on the MAFS train @paintfairy...you say you don't like silly TV?

OP posts:
becarefuloutthere · 09/02/2022 16:23

@Minster2012 not sure I should watch anymore now Confused
@larrythelizard ooh no I haven't! Will ask Dh if he has one as I don't. Thanks for the tip!
Hope you're bk on the up too! Shame you can't eat those crisps, love them and rib n saucy ones 😋
I wonder if it's more scary telling male bosses, I was fine telling my boss (a woman) but then I had to tell her we were doing ivf for the time off for scans etc so I was more scared to tell her that, but she was fine of course.
I'm defo not sharing my mat leave, have always wanted the full year off. Dh has the potential to earn more than me as his is a commission role so he always does well now that he's got an established pipeline.

Kate105 · 09/02/2022 17:12

Yay @Juno231 finally! That's a big job done 💪🏻

Erm not following a specific method per se @Minster2012 (because why would I do that and make life simple for myself) so it's kind of a mix of controlled crying and another one. So basically we put him down and watch him cry rather than leave 😂🙈 that does possibly make us sadists. But I read about 4 different books and confused myself so just made this up as a middle road. But it seems to be ok?! Very awkward at mum club today though when all the other BF mums were being all attachy and gentle and BF to sleep (actual quote "why would you do it any other way?") and I'm there like HELL NO GET TSD AWAY FROM ME 😂😂😂

Minster2012 · 09/02/2022 17:24

@larrythelizard there's no rush to tell your boss is there? And sorry what, bum hole, wee hole vagina?? What?? What am I doing with them? Squeezing them or massaging them?! Those instructions are clearly not graphic enough for me 😜**@Juno231 argh help I'm well behind then ffs I was too worried about taking things easy 🤦🏼‍♀️

You are going hiking @Juno231 in Vancouver? Niccceeeeee you can't be annoyed OH has caught up with you on salary surely that's a good thing not having to worry which of you takes time off?

Yes maple 🍁 syrup very seriously @whatwonder, I had no idea! But I've been given a can now too! They are from Ottowa so we are hoping to visit there in the future!!

@paintfairy well he could tell his folks in between now & Sunday? And yes like @larrythelizard says MAFS?? (Which is back soon!)

@becarefuloutthere that's the issue with commission based, taking time off hits it hard depends how long your pipeline is & other factors (including if you trust ppl to do your work whilst off), if you can take the year off then def good too. Obviously my boss knew pretty early...2nd though not first 😂

Minster2012 · 09/02/2022 17:29

@Kate105 well done keep going! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻feeding to sleep is a big concern for me with breastfeeding 🤱

larrythelizard · 09/02/2022 17:40

3m charging cables are amazing @becarefuloutthere!

Ah yeah one of the mums in my NCT group also full of useful nuggets such as 'I just don't know why you wouldn't breastfeed' (erm, tried really hard, couldn't) and many many others. Ive just decided we're very very different people!

That's how I was told to do a proper pelvic floor squeeze @Minster2012 so I sort of zipping up motion rather than a random squeeze.

Yep, Business Development here whose entire job is building pipeline so it is a concern for me too @becarefuloutthere!

😂😂😂 can you imagine just telling your boss at 26 weeks and handing over your MAT1b @Minster2012?!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 09/02/2022 17:48

@Minster2012 @larrythelizard I meant silly humoured tv. 🤣 Where its meant to be funny but it's just stupid. MAFS is just general trash. 🤭
@becarefuloutthere I think telling men bosses (when you are a woman) is a bit awkward? Mine is fine and really normal, has kids, and I think he'll be OK about it. But I still feel well weird having to tell him.....
@feliznavidad2 I think the wee problem is something that most women will experience. Why are we not men!?
@whatwonder @Juno231 jealous of Canada. I've been to Toronto. Also Alberta - we went to the calgary stampede! Also drove around. Waterton national park is beautiful! I've never been to Portland but after watching twilight I've always wanted to visit that west coast side!
I don't really understand parental leave @juno231 - do they get decent money for their time off? I suspect DHs place would give the bare minimum. Crying telling your boss. 🤣 I felt all over telling my colleague yesterday though and excitable and weird. I suppose bar my mum its the first person I've told not by message. I'm pleased he was ok about it! One less thing to worry about. Maybe I'll tell mine this week......

So- has my consultant appointment this morning. Bloody nightmare. Appointment was 9.30am. By 10.15am I still hadn't even seen the nurse for BP and urine sample. That then happened and I was sent to wait for the consultant. These people honestly must think you have nowhere better to be?! Anyway- in her own time she scanned my abdomen (after I had weed! Result) and I saw the baby! So I got an extra peek. It was apparently wriggly and being uncooperative and at a bad angle, which made me feel better. 🤣 She then did a transvaginal scan and checked my cervix. All OK. She also took swabs for something or other. So the plan is i have to have another cervical scan at my 20 week advanced appointment, and she'll follow this up by phone appointment. I've then got scans (booked in already now) for 28, 32 and 36 weeks and she'll follow each of those up with a phone call also. So fingers crossed I won't have to go there again and wait 400 hours. 🙄
Obviously I came away and googled what my measurements were and then stressed myself out. 🙈 Because the femur measurement is only in the 15th centile. She also took a stomach measurement and that was in the 24th and ok. 🤷‍♀️ So my baby has small legs. Although I also read this is common, so hopefully its OK.
In other news I picked up a snuzpod 4 from fb for £50. 🥳 But I've sent it to mums as I don't want it in my house in case it's bad luck. 🤣

Minster2012 · 09/02/2022 18:05

Now stood at the Aga doing weird internal zipping motions @larrythelizard, on it!! Yeah totally get the commission thing. I took lots of 1/2 days off as opposed to full weeks unless I knew the person taking over from me was gonna do it properly 😂. The midwife at my last appointment gave me my MATb1 form & I was like errrr yeah I guess I need it for paperwork 😂😂m

@paintfairy I think that's a very positive appointment today!

bez91 · 09/02/2022 18:29

@Minster2012 hope things went well with the structural engineer, I've watched 4 episodes of it today whilst wfh, I like it 😂 in fact it's really helped with work stresses today 👍🏼

@becarefuloutthere wow 2 weeks, that'll fly! Feeling a bit more on top of things after today thankyou!

@whatwonder I don't go to her anymore, the burn actually quite hurt and it wasn't getting me pregnant 😂 on the tv show, if pregnant I think you will other love it or hate it. Hope the flight goes well and you enjoy your time away!

@feliznavidad2 I've had a few leakage issues a few weeks ago too when I had a horrendous cough. Never had issues before or after DDs birth, doing pelvic floor exercises everyday has sorted the problem for now!

Thanks @larrythelizard I'm feeling much better today, it's a high stress job anyway as it's always fire fighting but I've got on top of a lot today so feel in a better place. Oh no on chickening our with your boss, maybe drop it in last thing on a Friday then it's done 😅

@Juno231 great your boss was supportive, he sounds really nice. We thought about it (well I did) but it seemed quite complicated the shared parental leave so I'll just have 9/10 months, he'll be back at work after 2 weeks but as @becarefuloutthere DH he's also a bit of a workaholic 🤦🏼‍♀️ 4 weeks will be great time to have off all together. On your later post, I did all the care with DD from birth but DH still extremely hands on then and is now and such a daddy's girl. My best friend is the same as you describe your friends but I find she (like many women do) makes excuses for her DH and IMO it's because he's basically useless and self centred 🙈

Minster2012 · 10/02/2022 06:53

@bez91 it's helped me with the stress too! Structural engineer ok, all sounds expensive & more time 6/8 weeks before structural drawings & spec so no way work can start before baby here I guess

@feliznavidad2 I also leaked once when having a coughing fit. I've never given birth so no excuse for me 😂but now @larrythelizard has told me how to get my inners strong o shall be doing that

Anyone else getting so stuffed up at night? Literally soon as I lie down to sleep my entire nose blocks up & I can't breathe without my mouth open. So obviously snore & get a dry throat. Last night I know I snorted myself awake. Pregnancy glam eh?!

becarefuloutthere · 10/02/2022 08:03

@larrythelizard will add to my Amazon basket as Dh doesn't have one! Oh I'm not the BD so I'm all good 😊
@paintfairy yeah that's true actually! It's quite an intimate thing to say to a man.
Glad all was ok at the scan despite the long waits! Good to have the others booked in too and good going on the purchase, totally get the bad luck thing but I reckon you're out of the woods now 😘
@bez91 I know, I can't believe it's so close now yet still seems so far. Odd huh! I'm glad you're more on top of things now, long may it continue! X
@Minster2012 lol I'm forever saying how glamorous pregnancy is 🤪

Minster2012 · 10/02/2022 08:23

@kaylsd is it your 12 week scan today (though at 13 plus a few!) if so then hooecits early & good Luck xx

larrythelizard · 10/02/2022 09:09

That is a fantastic response @Juno231 I'm so happy for you!

@paintfairy that sounds like a nightmare, I always expect appointments to run late but that really is something else!

Ooh good luck @kaylsd if it's today, an official EDD incoming!

Yep @Minster2012 same here

OP posts:
Juno231 · 10/02/2022 09:36

@kaylsd good luck today!

@bez91 I just don't want to give OH any excuses not to be an equal parent 🤣

@paintfairy Christ I hadn't realised just how late they were for your appointment. I'm so glad you got another peek at the baby though - I hope o get to as well! Oh and as for parental leave - at the end of your mat leave I suspect you'll only get stat pay right? So doesn't matter if it's you or the dad getting that (although some workplaces will pay extra for the dad's leave) - so if you earn more than OH it would make sense money wise for you to split the leave so you go back to earning. Basically in our case it won't make any financial difference so he might as well take some 🤷

Btw paintfairy your OH saying it's weird to know the sex when his family doesn't know about the baby full stop cracks me up 🤣

Juno231 · 10/02/2022 09:37

@Kate105 you seem to be doing really well with tsd! I love all your updates ❤️

Juno231 · 10/02/2022 09:44

Oh and sorry for the triple post but I'm 14 weeks today which I'm excited about 🎉

larrythelizard · 10/02/2022 10:26

Yay @Juno231 14 weeks 🥳🥳🥳

OP posts:
DKDK123 · 10/02/2022 11:11

@juno231 glad all went well with telling your boss, that'll be a weight off your mind. And hooray for 14 weeks 🥳

@larrythelizard that's definitely good advice about the long charging wire!
I've had to pack battery packs too as our hospital don't let you use their sockets to charge your phone 🙄 (at least they didn't when I was in with DS as someone started a fire with a dodgy plug a few months prior so it was only PAT tested hospital equipment allowed to be plugged in, I'm hoping the rules are more relaxed now!)

@paintfairy, our constant clinic actually had a poster up saying your wait could be up to 2 hours. At least they're honest about it but yea it's like they think people don't have lives outside their appointments. I don't think I've ever been seen earlier an hour past my appointment time, it's tedious! Glad all went well with your appointment once you were eventually seen. Great bargain on the Snuzpod!

@minster2012 the constant stuffy nose at night drives me up the wall 🤯 Mine also bleeds at night, not pouring just stays clotting in my nose (charming I know, all about the clots this week 😂) but it can be majorly triggering as it was always in the middle of the night I would start to bleed with DS so waking up to the smell of blood during the night always has me rushing to the loo to check. 🤦‍♀️

I took yesterday off work, first time I've phoned in sick this pregnancy but I was up all night feeling lightheaded and dizzy every time I laid down, think it was just the way baby was lying pressing on something as I was fine once I sat up. But by the morning I was exhausted and still a bit lightheaded, I was going to power through it as I always feel guilty taking time off then thought fuck it me and baby are more important than work so took the day off to lie in bed and relax all day and felt 100% the better of it.
Movie day with DS today, planning on taking it easy over the next few days, mission stay out of hospital as long as possible is underway 😂

Vil10 · 10/02/2022 11:17

Sorry for being such a shit passenger these last few days!! It was all a bit much with the move and feeling a bit stressed and drained so by the time I've been getting home ive been having early nights!! Me and OH are actually quite enjoying being at my mums so far, only on day 3 so plenty of time to change!! We put an offer in on a house last Friday, on Monday they rejected it, we put another in, we didn't hear anything until late Tuesday when they said they were still deciding, and haven't heard anything since...I mean I know they say no news is good news and it's probably a good thing they're taking this long but god it's a horrible wait!! Had my consultant appointment this morning for my back and she basically just referred me for an anaesthetic review, she said it would just be for them to assess whether I could have an epidural if needed, so the review might be anytime from 36 weeks or could even be when I come into the labour ward! But she seemed really happy with everything so far and said im a low risk healthy pregnancy and I can go back to being midwife led! Oh she also said they can prescribe me codeine

@paintfairy I think that appointment sounds positive apart from the wait times!! And you got to see baby again!! Also a good appointment!

@Juno231 yayy for being 14 weeks and telling your boss and him being so lovely and understanding!! I bet you feel like a weights been lifted!!

Vil10 · 10/02/2022 11:18

@DKDK123 so glad you took the day off!! Like you said, you and baby are much more important than work right now!! And a movie day today sounds perfect!!

Minster2012 · 10/02/2022 11:43

@DKDK123 def take it easy all the time you can and alllllll about the clots!! I literally can't breathe soon as I go to bed!! God pregnancy is weird 🙄 not HOSM at att @becarefuloutthere 😂

@Juno231 14 weeks!! Do you have a little bump now to make it real too?

@Vil10 well it's very good for being low risk, midwife led & being more chilled but book yourself not hearing back on the other offer. I'm still crossing everything for you it comes off 🤞🏻🤞🏻

God I totally forgot about the wait time that's rubbish @paintfairy and on the weeing too!! I feel that pain 😂I just assume whether I go to hospital it will take AN AGE and so am pleasantly surprised if they run vaguely to time 😜

Minster2012 · 10/02/2022 11:43

Not GLAM at all even @becarefuloutthere

kaylsd · 10/02/2022 12:39

@Minster2012 @Juno231 @larrythelizard and the rest of the lovely ladies!

Today has been my 12 week scan, measuring 13 week 4 days, official due date of 15/08 not worrying about being 2 days difference from last week as I know it's all positional as they are so small! baby kept bouncing and wiggling and turning all over shop but managed to do the NC measurements and all my screening bloods & Down syndrome screening and a booking session with the midwife under the chosen trust, DH was sat in car for a hour as other than the scan he's not aloud to be with me because of covid! I've been given some notes now so it feels like abit more official and I've already been given all my appointments for Diabetic screen test 20 week scan ect so I'm all abit information overload at the moment 🤣

I'm gutted that I don't find NHS scans personal compared to the private ones and we didn't hear babies heartbeat only saw it flickering but nevertheless was happy to see baby all okay and the picture quality is questionable 🤣❤️

Sorry for being a shit passenger had some drama going off with family which has been consuming to say the least & I'm on nights these next 4 so it's gonna be hard for me to check in but I'll be a silent reader being a cheerleader in the background for everyone 😬

2020mission · 10/02/2022 14:20

After all the postpartum bleeding chat I thought I'd give a heads up for those who have C sections or a general anaesthetic, you also have needles to inject in your stomach each day to prevent blood clots for a minimum of 10 days, some for months depending on your risk. Probably not a big deal to anyone who's had fertility treatment but I wasn't expecting it 😅

paintfairy · 10/02/2022 14:52

@Juno231 ah OK. DH earns more than me, so probably not worth it! I'm expecting him to be hands on though!
@DKDK123 sorry you aren't feeling great. Definitely take time out for yourself!
@Vil10 I'm glad your appointment went well.
@kaylsd yes I think the same about the NHS scans. Its a bit of a shock isn't it! Glad everything is OK though.
@2020mission I didn't know that!

Yeah I know hospitals are always late but if over an hour late by a 9.30 appointment then I dread to think what the afternoon is like! I have told my boss today in the most ridiculous rushed manner. But it's done. 🙈🤣 I've also told a couple of other work friends. Feels weird getting it out there! I keep dreaming its a boy! 💙
I've got my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow.

Anyone have any idea why my dishwasher keeps giving an overheating code? And what to do with it? Bloody thing. Its only been in since December! I bought it at auction though (new) so I've no guarantee. 🙄
