@lexber pregnancy is bloody hard at times particularly once you do reach that big, tired, sore and uncomfortable stage which with twins you'll definitely have reached sooner. I'm just starting to enter that stage now and getting increasingly tired, sore and irritable with everything too. Men folk just don't get it, I often have to remind DH that being pregnant doesn't just mean my belly gets bigger carrying a baby, I am literally GROWING a baby and that's a 24/7 exhausting job as all your bodys energy and nutrients are getting diverted into helping this little one grow, talking in terms of growing not just carrying one seems to help put it back into perspective for him, i think to them sometimes they just think its a bit of extra weight to carry thats all. I agree with the others I think a sit down chat with DH is needed to let him know how overwhelmed and exhausted you are. I know you can't go away for long with your other kids but is even just a one night possible just to give you time to recharge your batteries? And try not to worry about how tired you'll be once the twins are here, yip you'll still be lacking in sleep and exhausted but remember it'll be a different kind from now as you'll also get those baby cuddles to soften the blow and make it all worth it in the end.

@Vil10 you might find if you can sort the trapped wind the sciatica will ease up. My sciatica really flares up when I'm constipated but eases once I've finally managed to go, I figured the blockage must be pressing on a nerve that irritates everything, may be the same with the trapped wind.

@minster2012 disappointing on the lasagne scan but hooray for free rescan meaning an extra peek and reassurance at baby in a few weeks which can only be a good thing! 😁 I agree with the rest on your body now telling you it's time to slow down, see above what I said re we're not just carrying a little human we're literally growing one and that is bloody exhausting stuff so rest up when needed.

@bez91 I'm with you (must be a 2nd child thing when you realise how much money they drain from you 😂), baby girl will be in a lot of blue from DSs old things but if the gender scan is wrong and it's a boy then it'll also be in any pink things we've been given (obviously not dresses etc but sleeping bags and things like that), can't afford to be fussy and baby doesn't know the difference.

@feliznavidad2 sounds like such a good and reassuring appointment, so glad that it's sounding like you can try for the birth you want 😊

@kate105 hooray for feeling alive! It's amazing what just an extra hour or two of sleep or peace and quiet can do to make you feel new again at that stage.

@justanothercyster just make sure it's a proper thought about decision that you don't mind if you fall pregnant again so soon and not that its your hormones playing you at the minute. My midwife had it drummed into me that bf definitely doesn't mean you won't fall pregnant as she's seen many a person unexpectedly end up with another one so soon when they thought it would be safe (although that's people not wanting another and getting caught out, of course if you do decide you dont mind having another so soon it's ok, Im just well impressed you have the energy for sex 😂).

@minster2012 I was in hospital for a while after my section so I was in those delightful disposable pants with built in pads that I posted in the last bus for the first day or two then switched to my own granny pants with big pads that felt mega uncomfy like a waddling duck. Think by the time I was discharged I'd gotten it down to always ultra night time pads and just changed them frequently. The hospital also had what looked like puppy pads under me on the bed, I remember finding that hilarious for some reason at the time 😂 but it's worth a shout if you want to ensure your becovers are fine. About a week and a half after my section I did pass a massive clot about the size of my hand but other than that I think the bleeding had tailed off to normal period like bleeding by then and finished about 4/5weeks.

@Haiyaa it's so cute (although will be a tiring battle for you) that DD is so smitten and wants to do everything for her human dolly 🥰 I fear DS is going to be the same and will need to keep reminding myself it's a good thing that he's interested even when it's taking me 20million times longer to get anything done with him wanting to 'help'

Hope all goes well at attempt #2 of telling the boss today @juno231

Minster2012 · 08/02/2022 08:19

God they don't tell you about the bleeding afterwards do they 😂thanks @DKDK123 I lolled at the waddling duck cos that's how I felt before with the big pads so I think I'll give them a miss

@Haiyaa awww bless him with the tongue tie but least it's gonna get sorted soon 🤞🏻 noting those c section pants thanks!

@becarefuloutthere ooo I'd hold the massage back for next week so then least you've got more to look forwards too (though cake for breakfast I'm down with!!) I think it must be surreal thinking she's nearly here!!

Well our internet is off here so I literally have my phone on 4g, DS can't access his iPad, it's drizzling awful rain & it's gonna be a long day! Plusnet coming this afternoon so thinking we can get to a playgroup this morning first so least then we are out

Plus thank you for your window votes on Insta, it's really interesting!! Think we are a bit closer!

Lexber · 08/02/2022 08:24

I've not fully read back, but I will when I get a chance. Thank you for your kind words.
I had a bit of a emotional breakdown Sunday afternoon at the end of my nephews 4th birthday party (after not being able to eat and feeling shit and exhausted for hours I was then sick in the bathroom) thankfully moist people didn't see or had gone home but it definitely made oh/parents see how exhausted and fed up I am (which by the size of me I'm not surprised)
I sat and chatted to my dad and he gave me a big cuddle, then after me and OH relaxed on the sofa at home a couple of hours I completely broke down into an emotional wreck and we talked, and he actually listened. He's nearly plastered the nursery so that's one less stress for him but I told him I can't cope with him taking out his stresses in me, I know he is stressed and worried which is ok and normal but we both need to stop taking it out on each other and work together or there won't be an us at the other side of this as it's only going to get harder before it gets easier. He agreed and my dad has told us we NEED to book a weekend away and he will come over so we are looking for ideas where to go 18-20th as needs to be sooner rather than later incase babies are early, I don't want to travel far after 30 weeks.
We've also agreed we need to make more time for each other, even if it's just spending an hour together in the evening or out for tea just us (we went shopping last night together and grabbed an hour for food while out) and earlier nights to reduce the exhaustion.

Work have got me the back rest but I'm 50/50 with it yet, and waiting for physio appointment for my hips.. but feeling a little better. Just tired all the time! I feel full term now, my body feels ready to pop! I most definitely will not be having more babies 🤣 especially because my chance of twins again is 1 in 12!!! 😬

Juno231 · 08/02/2022 08:37

@lexber as tough as it that sounds I'm so glad your breakdown meant that OH listened and that your dad has stepped up as well. I hope things improve from now on

@Justanothercyster it's a good sign you're broody again so soon!

@2020mission picked up my peri bottle and spritz for bits last night so I'd better not end up with a c section!

@DKDK123 how's your poor granny holding up this week? Thanks for the boss support - funnily enough OH told his yesterday! Can't believe he beat me to it.

Kate105 · 08/02/2022 09:14

Well done on the wee catching @Minster2012 I sense a gap in the market... she wees for dogs?! Like a cone of shame but for the other end?! Hope you get your internet back soon 🤞🏻

Oooh er @Justanothercyster aren't you meant to be more fertile after having had a baby? I know someone who wasn't careful after her first because it had taken them ages to get pregnant and now she has 3 under 4 😂 also I'm with @DKDK123 how on earth do you have the energy for sex?! 😴 they don't warn you that about BF do they, that it completely fucks your sex drive and makes you dryer than the Sahara... thanks 🙈

Good luck @becarefuloutthere got everything crossed it all kicks off soon!

Sounds like a much needed conversation @Lexber hope this changes things a bit!

Well sleep training is... going... broken sleep since 3:30am but I think it's working mostly??? Presume will need a few more days before I actually see proper progress. TSD in his own cot in his room for a nap again this morning, hopefully will get him in there full time sooner rather than later! I'm trying "progress is not linear" as a mantra but it's not that catchy 😂

larrythelizard · 08/02/2022 09:18

@Lexber I'm pleased you have some support, do you also need to have a similar conversation with your girls about how tough you're finding it? Lovely that both your dad and OH have finally clocked on.

Good luck today @Juno231, will your DH be doing shared parental leave or are you taking it all? We split it last time 10 months/2 months but likely DH will have longer off this time as I earn more!

Good question, how is your gran @DKDK123?

I have today started a good diary to see if I can spot a migraine trigger, in my heart if hearts I think it's hormones though as it's likely I get a migraine if I feel sick in the morning. Also splashed out on a horrendously priced water bottle that will flash at me and remind me to drink as I think I'm not drinking enough!

OP posts:
larrythelizard · 08/02/2022 09:19

Progress is deffo not linear particularly with baby sleep but I think you and him are bossing it @Kate105 - you'll be a new woman by the time the spring comes and the weather turns and you'll be out and about all the time!

OP posts:
bez91 · 08/02/2022 10:04

@Juno231 ooh the Shnugle baths are good, we had one. I must source another. Oh that's rubbish on the maternity stuff, I've had some pretty good stuff from new look too ☹️

@Justanothercyster I just love your f*ck it attitude 👍🏼👏🏼 why not!

@larrythelizard it's really tough, do they know the struggles you've had too though? It's such a mind melt I appreciate ❤️

@Haiyaa glad all is good 😊 glad you're getting the tongue tie sorted, have you managed to get it done on nhs or are you having to go private?

@Lexber glad you've been able to talk, sounds like you're both in better headspace and good to be making time for one another. I spoke to my dad yesterday about having DD when I go into labour which he will. He suggested she have a trial run at sleeping at his one night beforehand (he usually always comes here) would be nice as never had a night together childless since she was born. Spoke to DD about it last night and she's dead against it 🤦🏼‍♀️ so moral of the story, force your children on others even if they don't offer from a young age so they don't get to 4 and decide they can't sleepover anywhere else 🙄

Vil10 · 08/02/2022 10:18

Thankyou for all your advice girls, sciatica is definitely easing up, I've been taking paracetamol and using hot water bottles all the time, found out today the consultant appointment on Thursday is about my back so I'm going to mention it then! Just got back from my quad blood tests and they said my results should come up on my app in 10-14 days or they'll ring me sooner if it's a high risk result! Whilst I was sat in the waiting room a woman came out of the scanning room sobbing, in floods of tears and the sonographer and midwife took her and her husband into another room, made me think it wasn't good news, made my heart sink, poor woman!!

@feliznavidad2 really good news and glad you feel so much better after speaking to them!!

@Minster2012 have you decided on a window colour?

@Juno231 yess for purchases!! I've purchased a few bits too, not big ones but little things! Rubbish about the maternity wear though!! Good luck today with round 2 of telling the boss💪🏽

@Justanothercyster I'll have a look at thst website Thankyou!! Also very exciting on the not holding back and using protection when DTD!!

@becarefuloutthere love thst you've booked everything in that you can this week, one busy week you have😂

@larrythelizard it definitely still doesn't feel real for me, this morning I was sat in the waiting room surrounded by heavily pregnant women and I felt a fraud😂

@DKDK123 I didn't know that about the trapped wind and sciatica but can deffo see the link!! How's your gran doing?

@Lexber as tough as it may have been, it sounds like the breakdown was needed for those around you to realise how you're feeling!! So so glad OH listened and your dad has offered to watch the girls whilst you can have a weekend away!! You definitely deserve it x

becarefuloutthere · 08/02/2022 11:51

@Haiyaa ahh hope Thursday goes well, not long to wait now. Thank you, bath is on the agenda for next week after first sweep! Just need some luxurious bubble bath 🛀
@Minster2012 yeah was my thinking too! Hope you get your internet sorted and playgroup goes well. Must check out these windows on insta.
@Lexber oh honey, I'm glad you let it all out and have a POA, I think a trip away sounds like a fab idea!

@Kate105 thank you 😊 keep chanting that mantra 🕉 🧘‍♂️
@Vil10 I'm glad your backs easing up now, what a relief. Hopefully alls fine with your bloods. Ah that poor woman! 😢
Yeah I know lol, I do love being busy tho. I'm relaxing at mo as acupuncture was this morning. Afternoon tea later. Mums gonna come over in a bit and then my sis will pick us up from mine.

So acupuncture was moxibustion, anyone had this before? They basically blow smoke on your little toe 😂 sounds nuts I know! I have a smoke stick to do it at home now, let's see if it makes her spin!

2020mission · 08/02/2022 11:53

Should we add @Justanothercyster back to the original bus TTC list then 😛 haha some of us will end up back on there some time it's going to be strange!

feliznavidad2 · 08/02/2022 12:18

@becarefuloutthere one of my NCT friends had it done when her baby was breech and it worked! We were all surprised....

Minster2012 · 08/02/2022 12:21

Smoke on your little toe @Justanothercyster wtf is that meant to do?? I wouldn't be relaxed if someone blew smoke on me 😂

@Vil10 that's great it's a back appointment, ask them what to do for bottom back pain please!!😂 we've been that couple unfortunately & it's awful I just looked at the floor. Any news on the house??

@Lexber I also agree I think letting it all out was a good thing then if you can work with the support you have & now they know that's so good. Def get some time away booked

@bez91 I def palm ours off all opportunities, but surely there's a way to persuade her?? Plus id just take her anyway of course 😂

@Kate105 it can't be an instant thing or everyone would do it def!! Progress is the key 🔐 keep going. What technique you using?

Minster2012 · 08/02/2022 12:23

We are def adding @Justanothercyster back on the TTC bus 😂😂

Minster2012 · 08/02/2022 12:23

@Juno231 he beat you too it!!

paintfairy · 08/02/2022 16:03

@Minster2012 @2020mission @larrythelizard omg the bleeding for forever issue. Definitely no one tells you this? What! I wouldn't be taking what I needed into hospital for this. Ffs. Something else to investigate! 🤣
@becarefuloutthere cake for breakfast sounds good to me. You can freeze it you know? We did wedding cake and I was eating it for weeks. 🤣 The acupuncture thing sounds mental!
@Lexber sounds like a rollercoaster but fingers crossed you can now get back on track. I think people just have to realise how much you are struggling.
@Haiyaa sounds hectic! But positive. I'm glad everything is heading the right way.
@Kate105 🤣 you will get there. Rome wasn't built in a day. But it's getting better! 🤞
@Vil10 oh god. I'm yet to witness that and I don't want to. You also sit there hoping it's never you. How awful! 😭 Good the appointment is about your back, hopefully they can help you.
@Juno231 mad DH has told his boss before you. 🤣 Not sure that'll happen here, he is failing to tell his family, never mind boss. 🙄 I might tell mine tomorrow. Tomorrow just never comes. 🙈 Then I worry what if something goes wrong! But then really my boss needs to know if it glad does i guess anyway? 🤷‍♀️ Aarrrghhh.

whatwonder · 08/02/2022 16:28

hey everyone, really struggling with insomnia this week, feel like a zombie. Reading through all the updates but can't catch up with replies. know that I'm here for all of you though, sending love xx

Juno231 · 08/02/2022 17:10

@whatwonder ah that sucks! Hope it stops v soon!

@paintfairy ah I feel like my friends have been telling me lots about the bleeding for years so I'm fully prepared to wear adult nappies for god knows how many weeks. My favourite thing one of them told me was that apparently unless the blood clots are bigger than a plum there's no need to worry 🤢

@becarefuloutthere I'm sorry they what?? Blew smoke on your toe 🤣

@vil10 oof I would not have wanted to see that poor woman cry, makes my stomach sink just thinking about it.

No luck telling boss man today either! In my defence it was way easier for OH as he had an actual meeting scheduled face to face with his boss...

I think boobs have grown again and are definitely getting veiny - I showed OH the veins last night but didn't think it through as it meant he then wanted to DTD 😅

becarefuloutthere · 08/02/2022 17:12

@feliznavidad2 ah good to know! Let's hope it does the same for back to back ones.
@Minster2012 haha it was very odd but he whipped it off when it got hot. It's meant to spin her somehow, I need to look it up again to see how.
@paintfairy yeah I know, still have our wedding cake frozen from 2.5 years ago, hope it's still edible Confused
@whatwonder ah bless you, sending love too and sleepy vibes your way in the hope that it cures your insomnia!

becarefuloutthere · 08/02/2022 17:15

@Juno231 erm yeah basically 😂 this explains it well... www.boltonft.nhs.uk/services/maternity/information/complementary-therapies/moxibustion/
Oh boo to not being able to tell work yet!
Lol and did you dtd 🤭 😜

larrythelizard · 08/02/2022 17:17

You've got ages to work this stuff out @paintfairy, don't worry!

I'm all for the weird stuff @becarefuloutthere, hope it works!

That's tough @whatwonder, hope you get some sleep soon.

Yeah the two of them who've had the roughest ride do @bez91 but I know that it'll still be hard enough for them to hear. Also it feels weird to tell people stuff I don't quite believe. Although also frequent 'anything new? Nope!' Type conversations with all sorts of friends!

Surely DD can be bribed @bez91?!

DH thinks I should tell my boss @Juno231 as I'm still battling headaches...I'm not convinced im ready for it, such an awkward conversation!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 08/02/2022 19:27

I can't show DH my boobs either @Juno231 or it's def inviting a molesting 😂But we are DTD relatively regularly when not exhausted

@larrythelizard eeeek good luck. Don't forget it was their Xmas party that did it 😂

@whatwonder hugs, I also feel like a zombie

I'm absolutely shattered. Exhausted. Got a busy day tomorrow as well 🙈😬

DKDK123 · 08/02/2022 20:08

@Lexber sounds like things are getting better with you and DH on the same page now. Definitely book those few days away, you'll feel the better for it.

@becarefuloutthere never heard of the smoke on the toe before 😂 you'll need to let us know if it works

@Juno231 yip your friend was right (only we were told as long as its no bigger than a 50p). I found the blood post birth was definitely far more clotty than a normal period blood, maybe TMI but best you're prepared 😂

For those that asked about my Gran, we sti can't visit due to covid shutting the ward so I've not been able to see how she physically is but the nurses say she's stable,.some good days of managing a few bits of food, some bad days of having her oxygen increased and delirious. I still think she's going to hang on to meet this baby. 🤞

Had another midwife appointment today and all still going well with baby 🥰 She's lying horizontally across the middle of my stomach so that'll account for the no bleeding so far as DS kept lying vertically and booting the placenta and fibroid. Already starting to get a bit tight for room in there so her growth will be monitored frequently to check the fibroid taking up room is not restricting her growth too much but touch wood so far all is looking good. (Except the traces of protein and ketones already which could be a sign of pre-e about to creep in again but I'm ignoring that for now as it's just traces not lots yet 😂) Next scan and consultant in 4 weeks then it'll be weekly appointments from then till evacuation day, eek all seeming so close and real now!

2020mission · 08/02/2022 20:39

@DKDK123 I didn't notice any clots but as I had the postpartum haemorrhage I guess I might have missed a lot of it when I was under having the placenta removed and that all coming out!

I had to provide a urine sample of 200ml within 6 hours of them removing my catheter to show I was peeing ok and it was awful as it ended up full of the blood from the foof 😆 impossible not to.

@Juno231 Much easier to tell a boss you need 2 weeks paternity off than most of the year for maternity leave so it's no surprise your husband was happy to go ahead and tell his employer sooner than you have! Unless he's splitting some of the maternity leave with you?

DKDK123 · 09/02/2022 02:31

@2020mission that's interesting as I had severe PPH too and remember thinking if it's still this clotty after they've already had a good clear out in there, it must be hell for those that haven't! I assumed it was everyone but maybe it's just my messed up body then, it would be good to hear what others experienced. I also passed a massive clot about the size of my fist about a week and a half after birth and phoned nhs 111 to see what I should do (dont know why I didn't just phone the midwives 🤷‍♀️). They said a nurse would ring me back, 3 hours later and no-one rang and I was just so tired I went to bed assuming it couldn't be that serious if no one rang me back. In hindsight now that could have actually been a very serious outcome and I should have been sent to hospital to be seen ASAP incase I had a further PPH particularly considering the amount of blood I lost the first time round, but in my sleep deprived state I figured no phone call meant all was fine and I was being over dramatic 🙈
