Thanks @larrythelizard I do need to slow down a bit now, and the whirlwind when he says things like "i hate you" when told no (he's a darling the rest of the time) just sends me into a blubbering mess 😔

HOWEVER! Wake up after 6 today AND I just got dog to PIAP and all before half 7, surely that's me winning today right?

bez91 · 07/02/2022 07:27

@larrythelizard great news the headaches have subsided 🥳, I wonder if your mindset can influence pregnancy illness 😆 when are you back home? You definitely should decorate the room if you want to! I've found it's helped me make it feel more real!

@Minster2012 maybe X is preparing you for what's to come with his sister but it's not ideal when you feel exhausted from pregnancy. The good thing is if he's only done it for a couple or weeks it's probably just temporary, DD killed me tor 4 years with pre 5:30 wake ups from birth 😂 I'm just about alive again now and #2 will probably be the same 🤦🏼‍♀️ ooh I bought a few bits on the boots baby event online yesterday and there was some baby towels on there last night. I think it's normal and rational to feel the way you do, you got this 🤗 Reading your update just now, you've already won Monday 👏🏼

@Juno231 hope all goes well breaking the news today at work. Your life > than work so they're just going to have to suck it up. Men never have to feel this guilt, it's bloody unfair!

larrythelizard · 07/02/2022 08:27

I've always been a fan of the power of the mind so maybe @bez91. DH is adamant we're not redecorating, tbf he did spend a long time doing it 3 years ago and it is cool! I remain unconvinced though!

@Minster2012 oh that is hard, he completely doesn't mean it though, he's 3! It's just the thing that gets him the best reaction.

With you in the spirit of pregnant ladies who are a fan of their jobs today @Juno231

OP posts:
Vil10 · 07/02/2022 09:36

@larrythelizard I've googled ones I can do whilst pregnant and I've been doing them all weekend but haven't made an ounce of difference!!

@Juno231 oh the cash will feel lovely!! Hoping it doesn't last long though and we find something to put it back into😂 good luck telling your boss today! He can't be mad though surely?? Yeah it might be bad timing for him but your life comes before his work!

@Minster2012 sorry you felt a bit shitty and emotional yesterday!! How're you feeling today? Absolutely, you're winning!! Getting a dog to PIAP deserves a medal surely??

Well I feel absolutely shit today, I havent 💩 since Friday and since Friday afternoon I've had the worst trapped wind and bloat ever, horrendous stomach cramps and nothing seems to be working, pair that with awful sciatica, on the side I had operated on too so thats pissed me off, it usually radiates down the back of my leg, into my arse cheek, inner thigh, my right vagine flap and down into my foot, it's horrible but I can cope with it, this time as well as radiating down, it's radiated up wtf?? So the pain/sensitivity is also up my hip and stomach, the front and back of my ribs and under my right boob, it's just awful, I just sobbed for an hour yesterday because of how uncomfortable it was!! So I haven't slept properly since Thursday night because of these different pains, tonight's our last night at home so we're doing last bits like sorting through the freezer, last bits of cleaning, and I just want to sleep!! I've got my quad blood test tomorrow morning though so I'll be glad to get that out of the way!

paintfairy · 07/02/2022 09:47

@Vil10 have you got a pregnancy pillow? I have used mine the last 2 nights (clearly I don't need it for my bump yet) and I'm wondering why I've never tried such a thing before! I do usually sleep on my side a lot. But this supports your top leg and arm and you don't twist. I can't believe how much pressure it takes off my back and hips. I might use it forever. 🤣 So it might be worth trying for extra support in bed?

feliznavidad2 · 07/02/2022 09:47

Catching up. Also feeling a bit rough, not sure why. Think I might just be tired, have taken DS to school and put my jammies back on and got into bed. Thank goodness for part time working!

@Vil10 bless you, that sounds horrible! Do you think the GP might be able to suggest anything? Constipation generally is a ... literal pain in the arse.

Hope your breaking the news goes ok @Juno231

@Minster2012 agree with others that maybe you just need to take it a wee bit more easy? Taking my own advice and lazing as I type this. Hope you're ok. Yay for free lasagna scan.

Congrats on your first purchase @paintfairy (!)

We picked up a birthing ball from a friend yesterday and they've kindly given us their old Next To Me crib so just need to give it a wash and get a new mattress and should be good as new. Ooh and I had my first appointment with obstetrician on Friday who was like a breath of fresh air, so lovely and reassuring. I'd sort of accepted I'd need an ELCS but she said at the moment, all things considered, she'd still recommend trying for a vaginal delivery if that's what I want (which I think I do...) She said they'll also treat me for Group B strep when in labour as previously carried it and they'll be ready for any issues like the bleeding which happened last time. I'm seeing her at 32 weeks, but genuinely felt so reassured when getting off the phone.

Kate105 · 07/02/2022 11:15

Yay for sleep training! TSD only woke up twice last night and I feel aliiiiiiiiiive. He's now Scandi napping outside again post walk, although feel a little shirty this time because it's raining 😂 so I've popped him round the back so the neighbours can't judge. I mean, he's got the rain cover on the pram, it's not like I've left him open to the elements, but it is quite a vile day 😂🙈 also might not notice straight away when he wakes up because the plastic cover is all steamed up...

blackcurrantqueen · 07/02/2022 11:51

@Vil10 darling give the doctors a call for some stuff to help with the constipation and some pain relief for the sciatica. Xxx

@Juno231 thinking of you today; good luck with the boss!

@paintfairy yay for purchases! I'm off to Google snuzcloud. We love our snuzpod though!

@feliznavidad2 yay that's brilliant news if you want a natural birth; really hope you get whatever sort of birth it is that you want and glad the consultant sounded supportive!

Minster2012 · 07/02/2022 13:19

@Vil10 definitely go to the doctors please like the others said, you can't be sobbing cos of the pain darling talk to your doctor 😘great to get the bloods done too, I expect my medal in tge post she was like "WTF are you shoving underneath me?!"

@Juno231 I know the fact that you would've stepped up & that would've been good for you (plus exposure etc) would have been great but date stepped in to give you your girl without the ivf so that wins & you can do it xx

@feliznavidad2 getting back in pjs & going back to bed sounds amazing! As does hopefully being able to try for a vaginal birth 🙌🏻

@Kate105 don't say it out loud!! You'll break the spell 😂get in there girl!! Is this from the cheap nighttime shopping eBay book?

Minster2012 · 07/02/2022 13:42

@paintfairy I think you need to teach me how to sleep with my preg pillow! You've clearly got it nailed & I don't!

Juno231 · 07/02/2022 13:48

@Minster2012 can't believe you managed to catch the wee! And agreed with the others that you seem to have a super busy life! Time to kick back missy

@feliznavidad2 oh that meeting sounds a dream - I'm glad she made you feel comfortable and reassured! And how exciting about a birth ball and crib 😁. Speaking of birth balls - I keep forgetting to starting my kegel exercises, does anyone have an app they'd recommend?

@Vil10 sounds like you need a physio asap! Typical timing wise though with the move :(

@paintfairy ooooh I'm so glad you seem to be liking the pillow!

Thank you ladies for all your words of encouragement. I haven't spoken to him yet and he seems super busy today on his first day back from leave so might not even happen today at this rate!

So I'm picking up a shnuggle bath for free tonight from a lady in my neighbourhood. She's also giving away a new peri bottle and spritz for bits so I'm grabbing those too. OH convinced me to go for the snuzpod 3 as well so we're picking that up tomorrow! I was hesitant to get it this early on but he says there's no point worrying about what might happen and just recognise a good deal when I see one 🤣

In other news - had a new look maternity wear delivery today from the sale and it was rubbish, I'm returning all of it.

Justanothercyster · 07/02/2022 17:43

@paintfairy yeah! Tbh the only reason we have a Moses basket is because I got it for free on fb market place haha

@Vil10 yeah we did the bundle :) check out BournemouthBabyCentre as we got it there on discount, but you can order online x

@Lexber not trivial! Completely normal to feel worried and annoyed and the pain is real and exhausting!! But it will all be worth it. Like others have said, have a sit down chat with OH as it's such a tough time both physically and mentally x

@Juno231 good luck!

We visited the hospital yesterday so I could finally drop off my thank you cards and the present I got for the MW who was with me day and night and during section, I was expecting to feel anxious as I found the whole ordeal traumatic BUT it made me want to do it all again 🙈
we gave up on condoms so have just given in and aren't actively ttc but thought fuck it, what happens happens... we're both rubbish fertility wise so I doubt anything can happen! Not least since I'm BFing... I had a dream I was 25 weeks pregnant last night and was sad when I woke up empty 😂😂 what is wrong with me!

2020mission · 07/02/2022 17:58

@Justanothercyster you're brave 😅 my MIL conceived while breastfeeding thinking she was safe from conceiving. Are you doing the pull out method or going all in 😆 I've never used a hormonal contraceptive ever and it still took 16 months to conceive so I don't have any concerns about falling pregnant any time soon although we still haven't even DTD yet as I'm still bleeding (albeit very lightly) at 6 weeks postpartum! Didn't think it would last so long.

I would have liked to give cards to the exact staff that cared for me in hospital but I genuinely can't remember anyone's name! I'd have to give them to the doctors from theatre, midwives and the high dependency unit staff that cared for me for the first half of the day he was born. Possibly the poor cleaner who had to deal with the large amount of meconium waters I spilled all down the corridor and in the lift when moving to the labour suite too 😂 when are you thinking of trying again @Justanothercyster? I'm thinking not until April next year as I don't want two under 2 but then it took so long the first time it's hard to hold off so long!

Hope everyone is doing ok... struggling to keep up as I don't have much free time with the cluster feeding lately 🥱 keeping a close watch for @becarefuloutthere good news next 👶

larrythelizard · 07/02/2022 18:03

Aww that's lovely @Justanothercyster I sort of wish I'd done that as I had some lovely midwives but like @2020mission I couldn't remember their names the day after 😬😬😬 (so many drugs!)

I think im walking proof of Sod's law pregnancies @Justanothercyster but if it's not a disaster whenever it happens then it doesn't really matter.

That sounds an excellent haul @Juno231, I really am a massive fan of the shnuggle bath (as was DH once he used it and stopped taking the piss out of the bucket)

Deffo ring the dr @Vil10 im sure there's something they can give you.

Feeling rough again but after 3 days of OK I think im on the upwards trajectory. Back to work tomorrow, quite like work but it seems I much prefer not working!

Im currently doing my mums head in as I can't be bothered to tell anyone else im pregnant (still not convinced it's real 😂) and she's desperate for me to tell my auntie and cousin!

Hey y'all 👋🏾 still hanging in there! Hope everyones well! Thanks for thinking of me @2020mission. Been doing lots of sorting out this weekend and ordering of final bits today so feeling a lot more prepared now. All I need is hospital snacks and drinks. Have booked in acupuncture, pedicure, afternoon tea and brunch this week as I'm fully expecting things to kick off next week after my sweep 😬 🤞🏾
@larrythelizard @Juno231 also have that bath, I put it on my baby shower gift list right at the top 😂 they forgot the shampoo rinse cup thingy tho so an Amazon version is coming tomorrow instead. Also realised I have no baby towels 🙈 so my sisters giving me her old ones. She said she only used one on rotation so I'll be getting practically new ones 🙌🏾
Ahh hope you feel brave enough to tell extended family soon @larrythelizard and glad to hear you're on the up now 😘

paintfairy · 07/02/2022 18:27

@larrythelizard no idea when it does feel real? DH has finally told his mother but no one else still knows. 🤣 Useless.
@Minster2012 erm, just wrap yourself around it! 🤣
@Juno231 did you manage to speak to your boss? I need to summon up that courage.
@Justanothercyster I think for some reason you are extra fertile after having a baby so it may not be the best idea, unless you definitely want it to happen.

My gender scan has been cancelled and I've had to rebook for Sunday. I did nearly say forget it and not bother. 🤣 So indecisive......

larrythelizard · 07/02/2022 18:35

Have you told DH about it yet @paintfairy?!

I hope you're enjoying the delightful bit of mat leave @becarefuloutthere and filling your day with slow wanderings filled with cake and other nice things?

My not wanting to tell anyone is also complicated by a recent miscarriage in one group of friends and a few of others battling the long road of infertility. Will have to own up at some point, hoping for one announcement before I have to make one!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 07/02/2022 18:40

@larrythelizard I haven't told him about the date change but yes I told him about the scan. That's what spurred him on to tell his mother. Oh that seems unfair that everyone will know what it is and she doesn't even know about it at all (I'm not sure who 'everyone' is because no one else knows still bar my mum/stepdad, brother and 1 friend, and I actually wasnt going to rush to tell anyone i knew what it was. Its my next new secret I can keep to myself 🤣). But no one was stopping him telling anyone anyway! 🤦‍♀️ He's the one that kept putting it off. But he's still not told his dad or other family and if he's not careful they'll find out via her. Yes he told her he's going to tell them so don't say anything yet, but she likely isn't expecting it to take him another month. 🙄

Just putting this here for your evening entertainment

@Justanothercyster oooooo I think that's really exciting sounds like you are kinda trying!

@becarefuloutthere I am loving your busy self care & fun filled week sounds awesome! Let's hope you then aren't waiting around!

@larrythelizard yeah that's not ideal, you need someone to step up & announce first!

@paintfairy I'm clearly doing it wrong with the pillow. Do the scan!

@2020mission see I was wondering this about the bleeding thing earlier, was yours c section or vaginal? ...

...Cos I'm starting to buy a few things & a few of you ladies have mentioned bleeding for a long time, so do I need lots of huge pads? (C section) or do I need to add some of these to the shopping? And bed mats? What do you think ladies?

Minsters Side Car - A few more bumps have now turned into babies - Thread 6
Justanothercyster · 07/02/2022 19:38

@2020mission well DTD is a weekly event haha (if lucky!) and we just haven't been very safe at all... but it took SO long the first time and we were on route to ivf so I'm being stupidly brave I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ as for actively trying, my plan would be for when M is 1 but I think whatever happens will happen! She was our little miracle so any others will be a bonus whenever they come. And god no haha, I only did an individual card for that one midwife! The others were general cards to the whole ward for labour and postnatal 🙈

@larrythelizard @paintfairy what will be will be!

@Minster2012 I wouldn't say we're trying right now just being stupid 😂 but it kindve makes it more exciting to think it could happen I guess??? We will use a condom at some point maybe........ DH is the "sensible one" so I guess if he's not worried then I'm not? 🙈

2020mission · 07/02/2022 19:41

@Minster2012 vaginal birth with a small cut although the bleeding definitely isn't related to the episiotomy as it was well stitched and has healed. I think you bleed similarly with a C section and vaginal as it's all the same inside. I've been on panty liners only for weeks it's just never ending very light bleeding/spotting. I definitely recommend proper thick maternity pads for the first few days/week. I packed them but the hospital actually provided them to me anyway. I was in hospital for 4 nights when most of the heavy bleeding happens so didn't need to worry about my bed at home. I wore the disposable knickers with a pad for the first few days in hospital just so my knickers weren't getting ruined. Less washing to bring home as well 😅

I highly recommend the peri bottle too for anyone who's likely to have vaginal birth. My cut was small and inside the vagina entrance; not anywhere near the back end so going to the toilet never hurt me but it was good for the first day when things were a bit swollen and then to squirt on after any trip to the loo in the following week to keep the area clean and make sure the stitch healed well 👍

@becarefuloutthere Good on you treating yourself before it all happens! I wish I had done the same but it was manic with last minute Christmas shopping at the time 😆 my nails haven't been touched since mid December could really do with a nice haircut as well. Hopefully will be able to do some of it again soon when things calm down! Just don't have time for myself with the LO

larrythelizard · 07/02/2022 19:42

You deffo still bleed after C-Section @Minster2012 - I didn't bleed heavily after the first few days but then bled medium flow ish (a bit more when I was trying to express which blew my mind) for a few weeks (can't remember how long). I didn't know you could get those disposable pants in the UK, I might be tempted this time, assuming my arse will fit in! I didn't have mats or anything but all OK.

Yes @paintfairy obviously go for the scan!

Exciting @Justanothercyster!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 07/02/2022 20:31

Thank you @larrythelizard @2020mission for the info, I used those pants during MMC after reading about them on a MN thread about how to prepare for MC. I bought the big maternity pads too but found them so uncomfortable & made me feel very "conscious" of the bleeding so I think maybe a mixture of the pants & some smaller pads would be ok. @larrythelizard Tesco had loads, I used tena lady ones before those ones are Tesco's own, more expensive than pads but it made so much difference mentally to me.

@Justanothercyster I love the approach & long as you know if MIGHT happen & are happy with that then all good I say. Especially if then sensible one on board!

becarefuloutthere · 07/02/2022 22:03

@larrythelizard I still have leftover cake from the baby shower so I had tea and cake for breakfast Saturday morning 😂 will prob have that again this week 😋
Oh that makes sense on holding off then, very thoughtful of you x
@Minster2012 yay love an entertaining thread, will read that tomorrow 😏
Thanks 😊 yeah I know lol so gonna leave the massage until next Tuesday, so at least something is scheduled for then. Thanks for asking the pads question, I have thick ones packed for hospital and first two weeks and my sis said I should be able to drop down to thin ones after that 🤞🏾
@Justanothercyster I think we'll be the same tbh as we always wanted two and did go down Ivf route so may as well see what happens until we actively want a second and then we'll be able to see whether or not natural works for us and turn to our Frosties if not.
@2020mission ah, it must be so hectic with a baby in tow, I still can't fathom it even though she'll be here by the times the months out 😱 I've got spritz for bitz packed and ready to go!🙌🏾

Haiyaa · 07/02/2022 22:20

Hi all, just popping in to let you know I’m still (just about) alive 😂 settling in - having another child at home is definitely a challenge, DD is absolutely smitten with DS but she is very sensitive and feeling the change I think. She’s also very protective of him and wants to do everything but of course she can’t! Feeding is a pain as DS has tongue tie like DD and we have appointment to get it snipped on Thursday. I know it wasn’t too bad with DD but I still feel so bad about it!

Wow @Justanothercyster you are brave! Your post actually made me a bit sad because even though logically I know I don’t want to have another child as pregnancy was hard and I don’t enjoy the c-section/recovery, it’s bittersweet knowing my family is complete and I won’t get to feel all the good parts that come with pregnancy and having a newborn again.

@Minster2012, with my first ELCS I bled a lot for weeks (double maternity pads), this time barely anything after the first couple of days. Still bleeding but more like a light period with occasional heavier bleeds but nothing excessive. Well done on catching the dog wee btw!

Hope it went ok with work @Juno231!

Any c section ladies (and probably VB too as I think your tummies feel weird after too?) I can highly recommend Cantaloop c section pants. They provide support so you can stand up a bit taller and have a silky bit where the wound is so it doesn’t rub. Had them last time and bought more for this time. Wouldn’t be without them!

Enjoy these last few days of peace @becarefuloutthere! Make sure to get as much rest and “alone time”/warm baths and pampering as possible!
