@paintfairy @Vil10 oh and the Snuz cloud! It's amazing for "sleep cues"

becarefuloutthere · 04/02/2022 22:17

@Justanothercyster aww I bet you do 🥰 thanks for the tip on the snuz cloud, it keeps popping up on my sponsored ads!
@Juno231 aw congrats, I'm glad all went well and baby is fine 😌
@larrythelizard yeah I'll need all the warmth we can get in deepest darkest winter, though it's been quite mild recently down here.
@paintfairy yeah probs not a lot. Ours heats well but with energy prices rising we may have to adjust how often we have it on 😬
@Vil10 ooh full on then, absolutely don't blame you keeping the house stuff quiet now. I often feel like that too when things don't work out how you want. Hopefully saying less means it'll work out perfectly this time 🤞🏾it was good thanks 😊 although I went to the wrong salon so was late 🤦🏾‍♀️ and then needed to wee, luckily they didn't mind! 😅
Ah that's sweet of oh's grandma and lucky that it's the one you liked too! 😃

DKDK123 · 05/02/2022 01:09

@Juno231 a top n tail bowl is just a bowl that's split in two for giving them a wash when they don't need a full bath everyday. One half has water for the face and chest the other half you use for their bottom half. You don't need a fancy bowl just any bowl will do that you give a good clean afterwards, I just put it on my list to remind me to dig it out the loft as ours came with a bath set we got for DS.
Glad to hear little one is doing perfectly well and wriggling about, bonus on the hot sonographer, that's a rarity!

@paintfairy you can get a 1 tog (or maybe it's 1.5, I can't remember off the top of my head) for summer. I'm going to get 2 of those and one 2.5 (incase we have a really cold day) for 0-6months to see us through the summer as you can always layer up with vest and sleepsuit under the summer one to make it warmer if need be. And then switch to 2.5 togs for 6-12 months as we're coming back into winter.

@Vil10 quietly crossing my fingers for you on the house front 🤞

@Minster2012 hope you're feeling better today......and that you manage to get doggo to PIAP 🤣

I had to Google what the snuzpod looks like, I'd heard of the next to me cribs but not the snuzpod. We got a good old fashioned rocking crib for DS, pretty sure it was off marketplace for like £20 or something ridiculously low priced like that 😂 (considering they only stay in them max 6months, things like that 2nd hand are usually still in excellent condition so check out marketplace/gumtree for your snuzpods too and just buy a new mattress) I loved the rocking crib, could squeeze my hand thru the bars from my bed if he needed to feel me physically near to calm or if I was feeling extra tired I could stick my foot out the bed to rock the crib to hush him over without getting out of bed 😂 Think I'll just get another new mattress and use that for DD too as I loved it.

Spent yesterday raging at BT but trying my hardest to keep my BP down to avoid hospital, its hard trying to remain calm as an angry pregnant lady 😂 We upgraded to their full fibre broadband so the guy came out Thurs to install a new cable thing, 3 hours of trying to entertain DS to keep him out the guys way and he still couldn't get it to connect so said someone else would be out the next day. Waited in all day yesterday (so that's 2 days in a row of having a 4year old unable to go to the park to burn off excess energy 🤯) and no one came! So phoned BT around 4pm to see what time the person was actually coming at only to be told they couldn't fix it that day it would be up to 5 working days!!!!!! And as they've disconnected our old Internet line (which apparently they can't just reconnect) we're now left without Internet until it gets sorted. 🤯🤯🤯 I was so pissed off that there was absolutely no communication from them to let us know this until I'd waited in all day yesterday then finally phoned them. So safe to say I won't be recommending BT to anyone in a hurry! 😤

bez91 · 05/02/2022 07:07

Catching up, been so so busy so hopefully some let up over the weekend. Feeling ridiculous fatigue so wondering if my iron levels are low. Blood test in a couple of weeks at my next MW app to find out

Great list @DKDK123 couple of bits I forgot on there, mainly nipple cream and I'm not sure how I could forget that after the pain and blood of trying to feed a leech. All the pools round here also have a double nappy policy 😂 @Juno231 I did that too with "baby" being the first thing on the list - yes helpful 😆

Another vote for sleeping bags @paintfairy DD was in them until about 2.5 as just easier and no complaints about being cold in the night or cold when you get them out of bed to feed. Just quite expensive so this baby will be having all her pink ones even if they're a boy.

@Minster2012 why do they give you these impossible tasks, I remember trying to get a urine sample from DD just before she turned 2 in hospital. Wasn't allowed to put her on the potty to transfer the wee into the pot as it wouldn't be sterile 🤦🏼‍♀️ legit sat staring at her bits for 4 hours before I needed a wee myself and yeah of course she did it then

@Juno231 yayyy, glad everything looking good 🥰 Bonus points for a hot sonographer 😉

@Vil10 fingers crossed on the house and although annoying glad you've got a definite date to move. Gives you time to focus on the next thing!

Quiet weekend here which is needed, me and DH may tag team a lunchtime nap as he's still feeling the effects from covid so is about as much use as me 😆

bez91 · 05/02/2022 08:50

Also, we saw a lovely chair in Next for the nursery, ex display and was £110 down from £360 so we thought bargain. Sent DH to pick it up the next day in our larger car thinking it'll be no problem fitting. Anyway he had to ram it in to get it to fit and in the process ripped some of the leather on the back seat 😂 so what we saved in the chair we've probably now got to fork out for the car upholstery 🤦🏼‍♀️😆

paintfairy · 05/02/2022 08:58

@Justanothercyster @Vil10 I was trying not to buy 2 things but I think I'll end up with a snuzpod for upstairs and a moses basket for down. I was looking at the shnuggle ones, as they are a bit larger and won't be outgrown in a month! The cloud looks cute!
@becarefuloutthere god yeah. Great time for all the bills to go insane!
@DKDK123 yes I reckon I'll only need like 1.5 tog initially. Like you say- you can layer up if it's less warm. And I've been looking on marketplace. I'm hoping to get a fair bit from there. BT sound annoying. 🤬 I think all companies are as bad as each other. There's no customer service these days. We are virgin and never had an issue to be fair. But it does seem no one cares how long you wait in or how inconvenient it is. Nightmare.
@Minster2012 They do seem to matter for baby size too. Some say 10lb babies and over. Some say 8lb. I'm not sure what you do if you have a really small one but you must have to do something else until they are big enough? 🤷‍♀️
@bez91 awww, you can't put a boy in pink ones! 🤣 Mental note to self to buy white. A human chair you mean? And omg. Yeah that's not good! Probably more in fact! 🙈

Lexber · 05/02/2022 10:26

Hey guys, sorry I'm quiet at the minute. Not having the greatest time so not had chance to catch up. Sorry if I have missed anything.

Really struggling at the minute, so fed up and sore. Work has been awful as year end catch up after covid plus auditors hanging around. I'm 26+3 weeks now and can't get comfy at all my hips are so painful I've been referred to physio so hopefully that helps.

I just feel absolutely exhausted all the time and so emotionally drained with no will or want, I feel like relationship with OH is hard work at minute too and he's always moaning or grumpy I feel like I can't say or do anything right - I get he is worrying/stressed about the nursery, twins coming before we are ready, selling the van and buying new car etc but it just feels like everything is hard work right now and I'm just fed up and tired.
I really don't think he realises how hard being pregnant can be, and from experience it's so much harder with 2! I feel guilty resting when he is plastering the bedroom or even just making tea!
I honestly feel like booking a hotel and sneaking off on my own for a week away from everyone and everything but I can't 😞 as I have the older girls and work!

We have a max of 10 weeks really before they're here and on one hand I want them to stay in as long as possible but on the other how am I going to go another 10 weeks like this? And then I'm worrying how he will be once they're here with lack of sleep? I e not slept properly now since early pregnancy so it will be what it is for me but he's so grumpy when he is tired especially in mornings he can be a complete arse (or am I just being over sensitive?! Feck knows!)

I know this is all trivial compared to what other people are going through/have been through but I just needed to talk to someone as I've kept how I feel to myself and painted on my happy face as best I can and plodded on..

paintfairy · 05/02/2022 11:59

@Lexber its not trivial. Have you spoken to him? Does he know you feel this way? My DH is grumpy when he's stressed/worried/ tired and I think everyone has worries about things not being ready. Ours is the house and also we need to sort a car. Tradesmen being arseholes don't help. I've finally booked a plasterer for downstairs but now the joiner is ignoring me, so I'm going to end up with no stair banister and breaking my neck. Neither is there any sign of the wardrobes being sorted and we are still in the spare room. 🤬 I'm stressed too about it. DH will stomp about in a mood for a day or 2 but I ignore it. Then eventually I'll raise it. Then he's usually better because he actually doesn't realise that he is stressing me and doesn't want to. So maybe you need to have that talk? Also- do you get any time not looking after the other kids? Can he (or someone else) have them for an hour or 2 sometimes to give you a break? Being tired and in pain isn't fun and sometimes you just need time out! I would point out you feel guilty sitting when he's doing things but at the same time you are really struggling. He maybe doesn't expect you to be doing anything?

Minster2012 · 05/02/2022 14:20

@Lexber sorry you feel awful, do you have a date for the physio? A pregnancy belt maybe? You def shouldn't feel guilty for relaxing, tell him the midwives have said you NEED to take time to lie down & conserve energy, it's definitely not trivial at all & sending you hugs 😘

@paintfairy ahh I see over 8lb, DS was 9lb to start with so I guess it never mattered to me the weight of the baby 😂

@bez91 omg that's so annoying on the leather in the car. Def something DH would do! I'm totally LOLLING on the DD wee thing, honestly I'm going to try on Monday & I can imagine her being totally freaked out & knocking over a tub I try shove underneath her 😂(reminds me I need to sterilise pots!)

@DKDK123 god i just hate utility companies in general. Awful. Boring adulting life admin which takes up days and gets you (me!) very angry

@Vil10 awww your family sound so happy for you and are doing lovely things it's so nice!! Good luck with the packing and loving, don't you be carrying/lifting stuff!

Need to paint second coat on windows, just want to sleep. We've just had our lasagne scan & no lasagne to be seen...baby girl was TOTALLY awkward with hands up over face so they couldn't get one shot 😂she was just laying breach & yawning 🥱 bless her the sonographer (non hot lady but lovely) kept saying "I'm sorry she's just not having any of it!"

X said "it's a chicken" a number of times, then really got me irrationally angry by picking up a blue heartbeat bear (we got one as part of the package) and running away with it & then not giving it up. I wanted a nice fluffy cream one or there was a nice dinosaur...nope he was having none it. Anyway, they are Doing another scan for us in March to try again & the heartbeat was all perfect so it should be reassuring...she's just not very active which I worry about from not too many movements. Always worry

Vil10 · 05/02/2022 17:07

@Justanothercyster I was looking at the bundle for the snuzpod and saw you get the cloud and pocket storage attachment included!! Definitely going to purchase!!

@becarefuloutthere I feel like when I say stuff out loud it doesn't work out, so keeping quiet and hopefully I can come back on Monday with good news🤞🏼 hahaha always there case, getting somewhere and needing to wee! Very lucky!!

@DKDK123 oh wow that's so so annoying of BT!! They could've said it would be longer before disconnecting your original one! I'd be fuming too!

@bez91 Thankyou! And definitely, big stuff has gone today so downstairs we literally have the kitchen bar stools and the tv in the living room, then upstairs we have wardrobes, then the mattress and tv in the bedroom, we're like squatters😂 quiet weekend definitely sounds needed!! Bloody typical with the chair but what a bargain!!

@Lexber sorry you feel so crappy!! I'd maybe talk to DH and tell him how you feel, most of the time men don't realise how they're being and how it affects us!! And I also agree with the others I'm trying to get a day or 2 to yourself to relax and chill!! Do not feel guilty for doing nothing either, you're growing 2 humans, you can rest whenever you like!

@Minster2012 lasagne scan😂😂 sorry baby girl wasn't very cooperative, isn't it frustrating!! She's obviously very stubborn!! However good thst the clinic have offered you to come back in March!! My baby wasn't the most active in my 12 week scan either, did a bit of kicking and moving them led back down in the same position and I did think are they supposed to be more active?? But they are professionals and if the heartbeat was perfect and they didn't flag anything up then try not to worry lovely❤️

Well weve had a day of moving big things out and running errands, I picked up some cute baby clothes in next and I still need to pack some clothes but OH has gone to football and I'm currently resting! I did have a list of things to do tomorrow, mainly cleaning before we leave on Tuesday morning but my friend who's going through a really rough time has asked if we can all go out for dinner, it's at 12;30 though so hopefully when I get home I can have a mad few hours and get all the cleaning done! Also just booked a scan at 16+6 at window to the womb on the 20th, so I'll only have to wait just over 3 weeks for my 20 week scan! It was only £55 so seems reasonable to keep me sane for another 3 weeks!!

Vil10 · 05/02/2022 17:09

Oh really struggling with trapped wind pains and sciatica too, had the trapped wind since yesterday afternoon and the sciatica started in the night, so definitely need to do some stretches and get the hot water bottle on it!!

paintfairy · 05/02/2022 22:09

@Minster2012 yeah I've no idea what you do if they are smaller! But at the same time I'm not sure I want a 9lb baby. 🙈 Depends where it's coming from mind.
How frustrating about the lasagne scan! And maybe she was just sleeping? I keep thinking that though- any scans I've had mine isn't doing much. Yet other people says theirs is wriggly and bouncing about?

I think I've worked out that decaf coffee is contributing to my headaches. 😖 I'm not going to have any, and see if there's any improvement. I'm also struggling a bit with constipation again. I bought some palmers stretch mark cream and it's so thick it doesn't come out the pump? Just not a good day..... 🙄🤣

bez91 · 06/02/2022 07:30

@paintfairy I think most of our sleeping bags were from about 7.5lbs. DD was well under that so we did use blankets/swaddle for a couple of months. Definitely can put a boy in a pink one if it saves a few hundred quid 😂 I think I've had that palmers before, ran out of patience with it as had to open the lid and lather the cream onto me via the 'straw' bit

@Lexber sorry to hear you're having it 💩 if the twins come before you are ready it's not the end of the world. Like with the van it's unlikely you're going to want to go out on a big family outing in their first few weeks whilst you adjust from a family of 4 to 6, do you know what you're swapping the van for or is that still to be decided? I know what you mean about feeling guilty, DH has had to take care of a lot of the cleaning etc as my hips are killing me whereas I've done more entertaining the child as it's easier on my body. Maybe he needs a bit watermelon strapping to him to appreciate what your body is doing!

@Minster2012 yes haha "why my mum following me around with Tupperware" good luck with that! Lasagne scan 😂 oh dear. Your DS thinks chicken, my DD thought pig, we think lasagne so yeah either way not looking like babies 😆 good they're getting you in again FOC. She might just be a totally chilled babe and sleeps a lot 😎 if everything ok at scans take some reassurance from that and the fact you look like you've got abs of steel!

Done a little DIY project in the nursery and stencilled some giraffe print. It's taken me ages but I've enjoyed it as we didn't have the opportunity last time living on a building site. I've still bought nothing practical mind 🙄

larrythelizard · 06/02/2022 07:59

Late check-in from me, having a lovely time away, no headaches so clearly no gym and no work agrees with me!

That sounds amazing @bez91, we've decided no 2 will go in DS' old nursery/DH's office - I think we should redecorate for no 2, DH is so far not in agreement (it's unisex so no 'need' to but I really want to!)

@paintfairy nuts isn't what the triggers can be!

Eek @Vil10 all sounds scary and exciting moving out! Have you got stretches you can do for the sciatica? Sounds good to have an interim scan.

Toddlers are infuriating @Minster2012. I'm another one that thinks baby girl is just super chill, which in reality is a good thing. I also think rescan works well as it gets you closer to the next batch of NHS ones.

It sounds tough @Lexber - I hate being pregnant (wanted a baby though!) and can't imagine the strain of a twin pregnancy. It's hard for men as they can't even begin to imagine feeling so ill for so long and not being able to do anything about it (for example my DH would take to his bed for a couple of days if he felt sick... !) don't feel guilty for resting, you're pretty busy too! Is it worth trying to have a chat with him when you're both calm?

I accidentally tripped up and fell into the 25% off Tesco baby clothes sale...

Very much recommended!

Lots of gender neutral stuff too and essentials like socks and scratch mits!

Kate105 · 06/02/2022 08:53

Not much news at my end, sorry you're feeling so rough @Lexber being pregnant with one was more than bad enough so can't imagine how tough it is for you!

Urgh. Sleep training TSD. Positives are that H put TSD to bed last night for the first time (and nap time this morning!) so that was nice, bar the 30 minutes of desperate screeching before TSD gave in to sleep (I presume it was TSD screeching, not H, but cannot confirm). Negatives are that my boobs are on fire because clearly TSD was scoffing all the snacks through the night and no one warned the ladies to slow down. And then for some reason last night I put TSD back to bed after his allocated feed and lay awake for 2 hours, just thinking about how tired I was and how tired I would be in the morning for not sleeping. WTF WHY IS MY BODY BETRAYING ME THUS

So for once I am the arsehole, rather than TSD. Which feels uncomfortable.

Minster2012 · 06/02/2022 09:19

With you at lying awake thinking what an idiot go back to sleep @Kate105, unfortunately mine is 3.5 years and ACTUALLY thinks his bants at 5.15 is genuinely funny & happy to scream why he can't go back to sleep 😂

larrythelizard · 06/02/2022 09:32

When I was in there the other week I saw a gorgeous sort of pastel ombré knitted two set @SWAttempting but given that I'm not finding out what I'm having and also have decided it's a boy it would be silly to buy it. I might though 😬😬😬

@Kate105 oh that's annoying, sleep training sounding good though 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@Minster2012 because of preggo I am being even more lazy in the morning than I was already and basically never get up with DS (thankfully he's not a 5.15 kid though)

We were meant to be heading out 'early' but our friends have a different definition of early so we're all still sat around, they're in their PjS. Not that it really matters...it's pretty grey and windy out there!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 06/02/2022 14:12

Mine wasn't 5.15 /earlier than 6.30 til 2 weeks ago @larrythelizard ☹️somehow we've broken him & it's breaking me 😜it's hella windy & got hale here so I'd still be in my pjs if I could!

@SWAttempting looking good there, I'm sat outside next atm (whilst DS naps) having thought right let's get some bits

@Vil10 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻all I'm saying

paintfairy · 06/02/2022 14:23

My mum apparently nearly bought something in tesco last week. 🤣 I mean, I've not even done that yet. But I said as long as its neutral and she doesn't go mad then maybe the odd thing is OK. But even if I know what it is- I don't want pink and blue!
@bez91 yeah, might need a back up plan for a small baby! God, all these just in case issues. 🤣 Stencil sounds good! I wish I had the patience. I'm quite excited to do the nursery but I do wonder if we'll ever have the crap out of that room in time! @larrythelizard my early is like 9am. 🤭

Bloody horrible and windy here. Was out freezing to death and getting blown away all morning. Not fun. I thought the baby might get hyperthermia. I'm glad to be inside now! I tried my pregnancy pillow last night. Then I realised I've no idea what it's meant to support. 🤣 I mean my bump doesn't need it yet but when it does I don't see how it fits under? Was useful between my legs though as I do struggle with my hips etc sometimes.

paintfairy · 06/02/2022 14:59

Omg I've made my first baby purchase! A snuzcloud from ebay. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Juno231 · 06/02/2022 17:22

@Minster2012 ah shame about the lasagna scan! Will they let you redo it for free? This weekend I've woken up at 5.20 both days in solidarity with you.

@vil10 can't believe you're moving out on Tuesday! Will be nice to have all that cash sitting your bank accounts in between house purchases 😁

@paintfairy yay for a purchase! There's a snuzpod near me for £35 and OH is trying to convince me to get it...

@Lexber bless that sounds really rough! Have you spoken to DH yet? Sounds like he needs a kick up the backside to support you better and don't you dare feel guilty!

Girls I'm bricking it ahead of tomorrow - the plan is to tell the boss and I think it'll go down like a lead balloon. Theres only three of us on the London team in total and he is going on parental leave in August, so with my news we'll be two people down and I'll have ruined his plans of me stepping into his role whilst he's away. Not to mention I only started there in Oct!

Minster2012 · 06/02/2022 19:43

@Juno231 I don't want to say thank you on the wake ups with me cos I really hope you don't wake up at that time!! Good luck with telling work but you are only worrying cos he's doing the same so it's only fair right?

@paintfairy boom well done!! No idea what a snuzcloud is but 🙌🏻

I had a little wobble today over stuff. Proper emotional & hormonal I'm sure & tried to DH about the things like "what do we do about the changing unit that is DS's drawers? & I don't feel ready 😂" he told me I've been looking miserable all day & I said I felt it. Yay for lack of sleep 😂this afternoon I took DS to TKMAXX & also went into boots & both places was really disappointed with the lack of baby bits they have. Not clothes but I was looking for a nice baby towel & not even boots had a nice one.
Repeat after me "tomorrow is a new day"! 🤞🏻

Minster2012 · 06/02/2022 19:43

Oh and yes I'm getting a free lasagne @Juno231 in mid March

larrythelizard · 06/02/2022 23:05

It's tough @Juno231 - I get it completely, I'm really worried about telling work (quite a male industry as well). I suspect your boss will be pleased for you on a personal level but a bit on shit on a professional level. Hopefully he's a good boss and can hold in the latter. It gives him time to find cover and still manage to take his parental leave as well as yours. When I was pregnant with DS, my boss was denied voluntary redundancy because I was due to go off on Mat leave and I still feel bad about that!

@Minster2012 you do sound very busy all the time, might just be that pregnant you needs a little more rest than non pregnant you? I'm finding that when I get tired now I'm a mess emotionally and physically. Sending love, pregnancy is hard in all ways and you have a whirlwind of a sidekick too!
