Hi all, my baby boy arrived last night 9-2-22 at 38+6. Arrived at the hospital for induction at 4pm for induction and he made his entrance just before 8pm with no induction needed!! Had been having mild contractions on and off that day but didn’t think anything much of it - hate to think what might have happened if we hadn’t been called in early (induction should have been this morning but they had a bed free and called me in).

MStarG · 10/02/2022 10:08

Congrats on all the babies so far! My waters broke at 2am yesterday but had quite a bit of blood in then so I've been admitted ever since. Medics keen to induce but I really want to give my body a decent chance to do this naturally. Not much happened the first 24 hours but last night I had quite a few contractions which have now completely stopped. I haven't slept since Tuesday night so trying to weigh up whether to get on with things or wait longer and possibly be in the same situation tomorrow morning. What has anyone's experience been with getting an induction after their waters have already broken and they're very slightly dilated? I desperately want to avoid an epidural if possible which is my main worry about induction. Thanks!

Dogt17 · 10/02/2022 11:03

Oh my goodness I have the most awful pain in my back. It started yesterday out of no where. It’s on my left side & the pain goes all the way down the back of my left thigh & leg. If I sit or lay down I’m fine but as soon as I move it’s killing me. I can hardly walk! I think it’s a trapped nerve, maybe baby has changed position & is on a nerve I’m not sure as I wasn’t doing anything to cause this to happen. I’ve just walked to the garage & back it took me 15 minutes & now I feel sick!

Dogt17 · 10/02/2022 11:13

@MStarG with my first my waters broke at around 5am I didn’t start having naturally contractions until 10pm that evening. I had contractions all through the night & didn’t get any sleep. Got to the hospital around 6/7am in the morning & my contractions had stopped. On arrival got examined & was only half a cm! I burst into tears. Got given the pessary around 8ish, this only took me to 2cms. Then around 1/2pm I was given the drip which is when all hell broke loose and I had to have an epidural. I never thought I would have an epidural but it was amazing (once it worked, took 2 attempts). The epidural took all the pain & fear away but I could still feel my stomach tightening when I had contractions. The actual pushing part was so calm & peaceful & I loved it. Before the epidural I literally felt like I was going to die! After I’d given birth I had to have a few stitches but again because I’d got the epidural I didn’t feel a thing. I was so against it before I went into labour but I do think there is definitely a place for them. I hope all goes well. Just do what you have to do and good luck 😊

Hope everyone's okay, seem to be more and more babies being born every day! I went to the consultant yesterday expecting to be told an induction date- instead I was put straight on the ward as my bp was too high! Finally home and on meds but got to go back Saturday for another bp check and then back to consultant weds for induction date! I'm 37+4 and they did a sweep yesterday and said I was 1cm- sweep got me to 2cm- any idea if this means I may just go into labour on my own? Pretty sure mucus plug went this morning as well

Timetobemumanddad · 11/02/2022 16:50

Congratulations to all those newborn baby Mamas! Still pregnant here - had a small amount of mucus yesterday and have been having period like cramps on and off but nothing to write home about - then due date isn’t until the 15th and is exactly 40 weeks as my bubs is an ICSI IVF miracle! Any one else having any signs of baby coming? :)

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 11/02/2022 17:02

Anyone whose had an episiotomy/forcep delivery, how long was it before you were up and about? I had my daughter on 31/1 and I thought i was fit enough to do small things like visit people, walk small distances but I ended up really sore and not I'm having to take it easy. I'm not sure when I can expect to be a bit more active? I'm so excited to go for a walk with the pram Sad

BabyFeb22 · 11/02/2022 18:08

@Timetobemumanddad I'm sure my mucus plug went yesterday morning in hospital and still having more bits of it it seems today but no contractions or anything, I'm due on 28th but due to hbp they won't let me go past 21st! I'm pretty sure she will come on her own before then as everyone seems to have told me that once mucus plug goes it's days rather than weeks although midwife told me yesterday in hospital it could still be weeks so who knows 😂

Peachi82 · 11/02/2022 18:30

@AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter
I had a forceps delivery with my older child and I'm afraid it took me weeks to feel better.
Make sure to be seen soon by a womens health physio.
And don't overdo it with the walking, be really gentle with yourself. Hope you're better soon.

Peachi82 · 11/02/2022 18:33

I have lost a bit of mucus plug yesterday and every time my 4 year old has a meltdown I get regular contractions.
Last night I didn't think we would get another full night's sleep.

I just want the baby to stay in until our section date on Tuesday. Please.

BabyFeb22 · 11/02/2022 18:50

@Peachi82 Aww fingers crossed for you!!

I'm dreading if they say I need induction just because the ward I was on the other day there were 2 women in the same bay that had the induction but waiting to be taken up to labour ward for waters broke- both been there 3 days waiting!!

Timetobemumanddad · 11/02/2022 18:55

Ahh! Apparently the plug can grow back as well! Well it all sounds like you will be meeting bubba in the next 2 weeks atleast! Just got to rest and keep that blood pressure stable xx

Peachi82 · 11/02/2022 18:58

@BabyFeb22
One of the reasons I'm declining induction.
We struggle with childcare anyway, I don't have time for hanging around the hospital for days on end.
Once baby is out, my partner has his paternity leave and can look after our older child.

Sleepyquest · 12/02/2022 06:42

Due to be induced this weekend, losing plug now and have had pains all through the night! Hoping to have baby here before Monday now! Smile

swiggles · 12/02/2022 10:09

@Peachi82 section twins!
Although I would much rather she come when she's ready, I think the thought of having a set date is a little calming and nice in a way to have a time to work towards. Sent off hospital PCR test today and my husband just has to log LFTs, is it the same elsewhere?
I also think I lost mucus plug mid week last week but midwives did not seem too fussed- said it could mean labour in the next 2 weeks sometimes!

So lovely to hear of the babies being born, how is everyone getting on with feeding, sleepless nights and newborn raves?

Chichimcgee · 13/02/2022 01:27

Congratulations new mamas 🥰 due 27th so a couple of weeks left for me I think!

Rose212 · 13/02/2022 03:32

Baby girl arrived via c section at 38+6 days 💗7.2.22

CucumberCool · 13/02/2022 06:15

Congratulations @Rose212!!

My due date is tomorrow! Finished work Friday and looking forward to a couple days with my feet up (hopefully).

Did spend yesterday on the sofa with a hot water bottle on leg to sooth cramp aches (which still hasn't gone after three days) and did have a little walk to the shop.

My tummy feel hard but baby does not feel as low as usual... Not sure if it's just the hardening but I'm sure I had more of a gap at the top of my tummy before (just under ribs in middle).

I'm worried now I was rested on sofa (mostly laying down but some sitting comfortably rather than perched on the edge) most if the day and she's moved up again....????

I've heard I should try to keep UFO - upright forward and open - but wondered if that meant literally 24 hours a day? I thought laying on my side on sofa would be ok and sitting normally for the duration of a film wouldn't hurt?

Very possible I'm worrying about nothing...😂 Every little thing has me second guessing the meaning ATM!

feb2022 · 13/02/2022 09:57

@Rose212 congratulations 💜💜

BabyFeb22 · 13/02/2022 11:48

@Rose212 Congratulations!!

@PrettyPlatapus I have no help or advice but 100% with you on second guessing every little twinge! Tops of my legs have been killing the last couple of days, actually burning like I've run a marathon 😂 struggle to even put my trousers on so 100% not exercise related 😂.

Really weird as well and not sure if it's even related but my ankles and hips have started to feel like they're giving way when I first get up- I am double jointed so have rubbish joints anyway but I did read up that it's the body getting ready- I mean I understand hips but ankles?! 😂.

Winterfellismyhome · 13/02/2022 14:02

Congratulations to all the new babies!

Phoebe is nearly 3 weeks old now and im besotted with her 💖 good luck to all the ladies still waiting

Had a mad dash to a&e tonight for DP, he's type 1 diabetic and managed to pick up a bit of a bug which has caused him to go into DKA, hospital called me an hour ago to say he's on the verge of a coma if they can't start to get it under control in the next 2 hours. Oh and just to help my back has started absolutely killing- hoping more than anything this isn't the start of labour 😩
