@Snoringmonkey

Contractions started about 10 last night, established labour at 6am, was 5cm then. Examined an hour ago and have made no progress so not waiting on the drip.. which I’m pretty terrified of.
Have an epidural before the drip goes in! Good luck, baby will be here soon! X
Dogt17 · 06/02/2022 14:19

@Snoringmonkey I agree with @Sleepyquest definitely get an epidural if you’re having the drip. Good luck

feb2022 · 06/02/2022 15:16

@Snoringmonkey ohh good luck!
Its all worth it in the end just hang in there

Snoringmonkey · 06/02/2022 18:09

@feb2022 @Sleepyquest @Dogt17
Didn’t end up having the epidural as I felt like I needed to kneel, went for pethidine instead and the things really kicked off. Regretted not having the epidural but regardless DS2 was born at 1:54pm weighing 7lb 10oz and he couldn’t be more perfect.
Good luck and I Hope all goes well for you and your babies, if you haven’t already had them!

Chichimcgee · 06/02/2022 18:10

Aww what a lovely update congratulations!!

Awww well done you! Congratulations! I am still (Im)patiently waiting.

Chichimcgee · 06/02/2022 18:15

@Sleepyquest me too.
Think she’s engaged now but I’m only 37 weeks so have a bit of a wait probably. Keep getting braxton hicks and she’s less kicky and more squirmy.

Peachi82 · 06/02/2022 18:18

Ah, well done! Congratulations!

Bit worried that if I go into labour before my section date, that they won't offer the section, but make me labour naturally.
I'm so tired and fed up, but really want the baby to stay in until our appointment.

Chichimcgee · 06/02/2022 18:20

@Peachi82 it must be really nice know when baby’s birthday will be Smile if I knew when she was going to be born I’d be far less impatient I think lol

Dogt17 · 06/02/2022 18:23

@Snoringmonkey congratulations! You superstar, I had to have an epidural when I had the drip with my first as all hell broke loose! Enjoy your newborn snuggles ❤️

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 07/02/2022 02:55

My baby was born via CS at 38+4 on Friday evening. He wasn't as huge as predicted at 8lb 6oz. We were discharged 24hrs later and he seems ok, just mucousy and a little jaundiced. He's not feeding though so is still causing us worry!
Can't wait for the pain to reduce though as I'm in agony and can't believe the hospital would only give paracetamol Shock.

dg93 · 07/02/2022 12:24

My baby who was due on the 22nd February made her appearance on Friday 4th February by a planned section. Unfortunately due to a medical issue (not being given some medication required) she's been in intensive care since her arrival, and may stay in intensive care for another 2-5 weeks apparently.

We've had to put a claim in with the hospital over the issues they caused, but won't be submitting an actual claim for a number of months, as it's too much to deal with right now.

For anyone worried about a section, I was pleasantly surprised with how it went. I hadn't even realised they had started the surgery and then the curtain came down and baby was there! The worst part for me was when they were cleaning my stomach, after putting the stitches and dressing on, i found that very painful as they put so much pressure on my stomach to clean all the fluid off - but that's all I felt the entire time! I did feel very sick at one point but they gave me medication to stop it and everything went back to normal.

My section was 9am Friday morning and I've woken up today (Monday) feeling so much better. Majority of the pain has gone, but im still keeping on top of pain relief just in case.

If I get lucky enough to have another baby in the future I will 100% be having a section, it was so nice.

Wishing you all have lovely births and that your babies arrive safely xx

becarefuloutthere · 07/02/2022 16:20

@PissedOffNeighbour22 @dg93 congratulations on your safe arrivals! I'm glad your sections went well and so sorry to hear about the medical negligence 😦

Moooooveover · 07/02/2022 19:58

Hi all, I’m 39 + 1 today and eagerly waiting for our little arrival.
She’s been head down and engaged for 3 weeks and seems to be very comfortable.
Constant Braxton Hicks but nothing to write home about… 3rd baby and I was thinking she might be early but she most probably has my partners timing.
So disappointed today when midwife was unable to give me a sweep, but one planned on Valentines which is the day after her due date if she’s not joined us already.
So happy to hear so many of you have got to meet your little ones already, been following the thread since finding out and keeping up with you all x

Chichimcgee · 07/02/2022 20:51

Congratulations both, hope baby can be home with you soon ♥️

CucumberCool · 07/02/2022 23:45

I'm 39 weeks I haven't been able to hand express any colostrum... Well I got 0.1ml once last week nothing since.

I'm still working full time and have no opportunity to slow down and relax at home so don't think I'm going to get any before baby is born.

Will I be able to hand experience some in the first few days after birth or will my milk come in immediately after my placenta has been born?

I'd really like a supply in case of tounge tie and when my supply is low.

swiggles · 08/02/2022 00:08

It's so lovely to hear of your little ones being born ❤️
How is everyone getting on with feeding?
I too have not been able to get any colostrum yet, I'm finishing work on Friday so hoping for some time to rest and relax this weekend so hopefully be more successful.
My little one has been served her eviction notice for a c section, hospital have decided not to let me go past 40 weeks due to mild choleostasis so I'm really hoping that I may go into natural labour before that. Still having to go in multiple times a week for scans and monitoring which doesn't help the rest/relax feeling either!

I'd really like a supply in case of tounge tie and when my supply is low.

I really struggled to get colostrum before baby arrived recently! Days 1-3 I didn't get anything, day 4 I got 2 drops and days 5-8 I got around 0.1/0.2ml each day but it was taking proper effort to get that.

Still freeze it when it's such small amounts as it's worth a lot for your baby!

With a section it takes you longer to start producing milk, which I wasn't aware of. I had my section 9am Friday last week, then freaked out that I had no milk to give my baby, but the doctors explained that it usually takes 3-5 days for milk /colostrum to come out after a section.

My milk supply arrived this morning, day 3 after my section and with 30 minute pumping session I can get around 20ml but doing it every 1 hour 30 minutes now to get a better flow!

It's super stressful, but try to stay calm. Sit down, watch tv or listen to music, make sure your warm and cozy and this should help - it does for me x

Chichimcgee · 08/02/2022 01:29

@PrettyPlatapus you sound organised! With my son I didn’t even think of that, I’m pretty sure that when baby is born and cries you’ll leak like a tap, it’s usually the crying that makes you produce a lot of milk very quickly.

Chichimcgee · 08/02/2022 01:30

I feel like an utter novice, I thought you had baby and fed baby, it’s never occurred to me to express before she’s born

SouthwestSis · 08/02/2022 04:07

I really wanted to express before my son was born and trued from 37+ 5 but wasn't able to, but I know it's often really helpful for woken that can and often takes several days of trying antenatal, so if uts something you'd like to do then keep trying, you're right it will probably get easier once on mat leave!

feb2022 · 08/02/2022 04:57

Hey everyone! Congratulations on the new arrivals
I've been awake since 1:30 I'm 37 weeks and the insomnia is hitting me hard and all I want to do is sleeeep!
I guarantee I will end up falling asleep around 6am and then my boys get up at 7...
please send help! 😅
DP if blissfully snoring away upstairs and it's driving me mad because no doubt he will tell me all about what a terrible sleep he's had when he wakes up all refreshed and here's me looking like an extra from a horror movie 😴 🧟‍♀️

finallyfoundkeys · 08/02/2022 08:07

Hi. Congratulations to all that are enjoying the new baby cuddles. I have been a bit of a lurker, baby due 21st. Just wanted to say what worked for me with colostrum harvesting. A hot shower on the boobs first or a hot water bottle and at least a min of massage before starting ( starting at the edges of breast and working towards the nipple) has really helped me. I have been doing it for a week now and bar the first 2 days have managed to get a full mil each day. Hope this helps. Also to remember that what you get before the birth has no indication of what will be produced after.

CucumberCool · 08/02/2022 13:19

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I think I'm getting stressed about not being relaxed! 🙄
I've been having baths and getting cosy but I think perseverance is key.
Good to know I have time even after birth and midwives will help.

It's so lovely seeing and hearing about all the births recently - your all amazing, producing such beauties! 💜💜
