As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@Vil10 yay great news! Cute pic and nice your dates been brought forward. Loved your insta announcement, so beautiful 😍
Hope viewing went ok?!
@bez91 aww glad your scan went well too! Loving your daughters summary 😂

I'm off to the theatre tonight to see &juilet, my last London trip for a long while! I've put a full face of slap on for the occasion too! Go me at 8 months pregnant 😆

feliznavidad2 · 22/01/2022 19:15

Ooh enjoy @becarefuloutthere and definitely go you. Have fun!

Night in front of the TV here.

That's helpful @larrythelizard thanks, and I think it's due to relaxin maybe @bez91 - I was fine post DS but this is definitely not good... It is quite a sort of hacking cough though so I'm telling myself it'll go once I'm feeling better.

Love your daughter's summary of seeing the baby! 😂 Sounds like a fab commentary.

We haven't taken DS to a scan yet, he's very keen to know how the baby 'got there' though, and wanted to know if she'd come out of the wee or poo hole... I've bought a book to help explain. 😬

Kate105 · 22/01/2022 19:19

Oh that's so cute @bez91 and so hilarious! That's a quote to remember for her 18th 😂

That's EXACTLY what my H would be like although not gonna lie, I feel like a multipack of crisps wouldn't be the worst thing 😂 probs would solve like 80% of problems...

You are also a better person than me @Minster2012 I can't wait until TSD can fuck with H's hangovers!

Good news @Vil10 congratulations 🥳

@paintfairy @larrythelizard @DKDK123 see as a teacher I feel like I can do the teenage angst thing with my eyes closed! This newborn shite, on the other hand...

Didn't even have that bad a night last night really but just feeling a bit down generally and definitely in need of better sleep. TSD is still being really clingy and sucky at night and I should be revelling in this precious time together but fuck that I need some space! I'm also a bit stressed about work because I'm in the process of writing my flexible working request and gearing up for a fight. I want to go down to 4 days a week, which any normal person would call 0.8 hours, but our school for some reason won't give you a full day off a week unless you're on 0.6?! Which I can't afford and would mean me losing head of department, since school also decree you can't be a HOD on less than 0.8. Fuckers. Need to get the maths department onto them because their logic doesn't make sense!

Minster2012 · 22/01/2022 20:54

@Vil10 I look really late cos I've not said it on here but said elsewhere ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳🥳🥳🥳& yayyyyy for your lovely announcement. How was the house viewing?

@Kate105 on the flexible working make sure you cover why it's in their benefit (eg no necessary recruitment process), how you can operationally fulfil your role in the reduced hours (cos if they want to say no they have to prove why you can't legit perform your full role in those reduced hours) & therefore why it won't make much difference. If you can cite your old appraisals or anything really positive all the better.

@bez91 so pleased all was well & a running 🐖 that's so funny

@feliznavidad2 sorry you are feeling crap, maybe a multipack of crisps would help? Tbh @DKDK123 every time I go into hospital I make sure I have snacks with me 😂. Hopefully we don't need to use the policy, but we have a few years ago done paternity leave anyway when unfortunately someone's wife went into hospital thinking she was in Labour at 38 weeks & unfortunately the baby was stillborn. So awful. We also had that person's dad working for us at that point (so the baby's grandad) & we gave him bereavement leave too. Absolutely awful and no reason so even DH knows the fear can still be there.

I'm not THAT nice ladies, it's not too nice seeing as I was awake anyway when DS woke up & I made DH sleep in the spare room last night as drunk so he got a lie in but I wanted a nap/chill time later & breakfast time is pretty chilled. Which in theory was perfect. HOWEVER. I go lie down (upstairs in bed) to relax & I get 15 mins in & DS runs upstairs & jumps on my hair/head saying "daddy says if you aren't asleep can you make him a coffee?" He thought I was lying on the sofa in the kitchen clearly. I said "pardon daddy said what?"
DS: "do you not understand me? Daddy wants a coffee" Hmmmm he does does he??? He can have one in the crotch.

So instead of a nap I then say ok I'm off on the bath (as was nearly 5pm by then so no point napping really).
I draw the bath get a drink for in it & get in

EXACTLY 6 mins later DS comes upstairs
"Daddy said do I want a bath with you & I do so I'm getting in"

Daddy got a phone call from the bath to say how UNACCEPTABLE this was & he started cooking the goose breast he brought home the other day into something! Was lovely actually

I def won't be nice again 🤣😂especially as he was a 🍆on the way back last night. So I'm knackered. Won't be long before bed

larrythelizard · 22/01/2022 21:46

Oh I so remember feeling like you @Kate105. It's bloody tough. How old is TSD? There's absolutely no law that says you have to enjoy every bit of it and I certainly didn't enjoy all of the hours in the dead of the night on my own with a tiny baby. Do you use the wonder weeks app? I know it's often dismissed but it lined up perfectly with DS and I liked that it felt like I'd broken him somehow as he completely transformed into a 100% gremlin and then I got an alert to say he was entering a leap. I think you need a stern word with DH too, he needs to step up (at least on weekends) so you can have a decent lie in/nap and catch up on some sleep before you break.

@Minster2012 were all tired in this house after poorly DS last night and DH was being particularly useless this afternoon whilst I was playing with a toddler on the edge and trying not to throw up. I got DS to go and put his fingers in DH's belly button (which DH full on hates), so I think I win!!

Ooh lovely @becarefuloutthere, have a great night!

becarefuloutthere · 22/01/2022 23:18

@feliznavidad2 thank you 😊 it was a great show!! Very entertaining and singalong. Whatcha watch on the box? Good going on the book front, must be hard trying to explain the mechanics to a child 😬
@Minster2012 eek hope you get a good nights sleep hun, sounds needed!
@larrythelizard thank you 😊 just on train bk now and it's 8 mins late departing at mo, i wanna cry as I just wanna get home now!! Lol to you getting ds being a menace to Dh 😆

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 08:22

Ahhhhh rested. Life is better. Though twitchy leg has set in which is annoying 🙄

@becarefuloutthere oh god yes you went out fully dolled up that's fab!

@larrythelizard urgh I'm with your DH on the finger in belly button I hate it 😬😬😝but good on you

We are entertaining our friends today so another busy one

paintfairy · 23/01/2022 09:17

Eugh. Headache from hell last night. 😭 I am struggling when it happens. I try not to take anything, but ended up taking paracetamol. A neck massage and the forehead stick just weren't working!

@larrythelizard Yep, you have to play them at their own game. It does make me laugh how men think if everyone feels crap then the woman should just deal it. Erm, nope! 🤣
@feliznavidad2 A book! 🤣 How old is DS? Yeah awkward question. The stork! It's always the stork.....
@bez91 a running pig! Omg that's made my day! 😆
@Minster2012 enjoy your day with friends!
@becarefuloutthere I hope you got back OK. Glad you enjoyed it.
@Kate105 The work issue sounds shit. My maths is shit so I'm not even sure what any of it really equates to. I find it hard to even know what a full day is in hours on the leave system vs our flexi sheet (its not the same), never mind weeks etc. 🤣
I understand the alone time too. I really need this and I always realise this will be a huge issue for me. I know I'll feel suffocated so this is something we'll need to address. Yes it's hard to do that early on but even just time in the bath whilst DH takes over? Do you get that?
@DKDK123 @larrythelizard @minster2012 I honestly think I'll deal with a baby in a sleep deprived state, better than a toddler! 🤣 At least babies sleep in between more and you get a rest? The noise! 🙉🙈
@Vil10 brilliant news about the scan! Less so the awkward baby. 🤣

feliznavidad2 · 23/01/2022 09:21

Might be hormones @paintfairy have had a few v stubborn headaches recently.

Have a good day @Minster2012

Negative COVID result so at least can go for a walk today. And my cough is definitely better.

Further DS (5) questioning today is 'but how did the sperm get there?' 🤦‍♀️ I've gone with... it just did.

Kate105 · 23/01/2022 09:28

Thanks @Minster2012 that's really helpful. I've emailed HR informally in the meantime to play the innocent and ask if I've somehow got the maths wrong...

He's 3.5 months now @larrythelizard and yes he's meant to be in the middle of a leap. I don't like the WW app at all but you're right, the dates do always seem to match! On the other hand, TSD is always a gremlin soooooo... 😂

Yes it's a big thing for me @paintfairy , not sure if it's because I'm an only child and I've always liked my own space?! But H is really good to be fair, always takes him first thing in the morning so I can go back to bed/shower etc and then has him in the evening when he's finished work until TSD goes to bed. It's really cute, he puts him in the carrier and they dance 😍 H can't dance for shit but TSD loves it!

Mixed bag here. TSD actually wasn't an arsehole last night and we slept in until 7 with minimal wake ups 🙌🏻 but we've all woken up snotty so it's a trip to the PCR test centre for us! LFT negative but when MIL had it the other week it took like 4 days for her LFT to turn positive so I'm not taking any chances. Actually think H is thrilled with the timing because it gets us out of a christening today that he was very much going to suffer through 😂

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 09:30

@paintfairy we yeah the toddler is the noise & also CONSTANT entertainment (with you providing it) until they learn to play independently which DS is just starting to at 3.5.

@feliznavidad2 it just did 😂😂if only it were that easy

Finishing off my meringue fruit nest dessert

bez91 · 23/01/2022 10:05

I can't really disagree with her on the running pig, we did it for her benefit really but the 4D stuff I haven't changed my mind on - weird AF 😆

@paintfairy booo to the headache, hopefully just hormonal 😣 they're horrible though

@feliznavidad2 oh no the questions 😂 luckily we haven't had to go into sperm just that daddy put it the baby there which is what happens when a mummy and daddy love each other 🙈

@Kate105 glad you had a better night with TSD. Not good on the PCRs though, hopefully it was a christening you weren't bothered about either

Juno231 · 23/01/2022 11:00

I'm having a girl 😭😭😭 I'm so happy!!!

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 11:49

@Juno231 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥳🥳🥳baby girl club!!

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 11:50

And I guess the results are ok @Juno231?

Juno231 · 23/01/2022 12:02

@Juno231 yes less than 1:10 000 for all of it -phew!

paintfairy · 23/01/2022 12:34

@Juno231 I didn't realise they gave ratios with it, I thought it was just high or low chance. That's good! As is the girl.

Is anyone on here actually having a boy? 🤔🤣

paintfairy · 23/01/2022 12:40

@Juno231 Happy birthday! 🥳🎂🎉

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 12:44

@Juno231 thats fantastic then!! Is it your birthday???

@paintfairy the boys were the more recent ones, @2020mission I think there was more! And there's a few ppl who don't know!

paintfairy · 23/01/2022 12:53

@Minster2012 I know we have some boys already born, but most people up and coming seem to be girls!
And not knowing is already begin to kill me.... 🤭

2020mission · 23/01/2022 13:36

I do find it funny as don't they say you're more likely to conceive a girl when not DTD close to/on ovulation day which is clearly what all us TTC with our BBT and ovulation sticks were doing all the time 😂 yet loads of girls

It does seem the majority of the bus babies over the months have been girls. The most recent ones at least. We only had a girl name agreed when TTC and then the nub and skull theory on our 12 week scan hinted girl so we were a bit surprised at the 20 week scan when we found out it was a boy but I honestly love having a boy now. Can't imagine not having little Matthew. I still think the whole sex preference thing isn't worth worrying about as your LO could easily be a tomboy or girly boy. Although I completely get it's nice to have one of each if you have more than one baby. My brothers friend was raging when he found out he was having a girl. Some cultures seem to have a massive preference for boys which is a shame!

Minster2012 · 23/01/2022 14:12

Oh yes your username @Juno231 🎂👏🏻

2020mission · 23/01/2022 14:13

I'm copying the others and wishing you a happy birthday @Juno231! 🥳 hope they are right 😆 great birthday present today if it is finding out it's a girl!

Vil10 · 23/01/2022 15:08

@feliznavidad2 Thankyou!' I can't believe it's moved forward thst much, I went yesterday thinking I was 12 weeks and now tomorrow I'll be 13!! Crazy! House viewing was disappointing, wasn't as nice as I thought it would be but it's okay, onwards we go! Sorry you feel so rough, definitely a rest day for you!!

@2020mission Thankyou!! Definitely looking forward to my birthday this year!! I feel really lucky that I've avoided bad sickness and it's only happened once, the dry heaving seems to be easing up too!!

@bez91 Thankyou lovely! So glad your scan went well too! And laughing my head off at your DD "it looks like a pig that's running" 😂😂😂

@larrythelizard well we were toying with waiting until getting the results but obviously thst didn't go to plan and then we were both just so excited to tell people and it makes it easier really because we have so much on in February with different groups of people it was just easier getting it done with!

@becarefuloutthere thankyou!! The house wasn't what I expected st the viewing so won't be making an offer but I feel fine about it, obviously wasn't right!! Hope you had a lovely night at the theatre and definitely a brownie point for the makeup, I already can't be arsed😂

@Kate105 thankyou!! Sorry you're feeling a bit fed up and stressed! Sending hugs x

@Minster2012 thankyou!!❤️ we won't be putting an offer in put it that way😂 but there's always next weeks houses that are still to come up for sale!! Oooo aren't men cheeky bastards I hope you got a good nights sleep?? Have a fun day today with friends x

@paintfairy feel you on the headache and not wanting to take anything, my head was pounding last night, I put it down to being awake since 5am yesterday morning and having such an overwhelming day but it's carried on today! Hope yours is better?? Yep the awkward baby made for a veg difficult scan!!

@feliznavidad2 glad your test is negative!! Wow your DS😂 dont children come out with the funniest things!!

@Juno231 congratulations on the news you're having a girl!! And happy birthday🥳

On the gender front, I also think I'm having a girl, spotted what I thought was "the nub" on my scan and convinced myself it's a girl! I'd be happy with either though! OH has taken our dog out to duck chase so I'm packing up all cleaning stuff, I literally have 2 boxes full and I don't understand why I've hoarded so many different brands the clean the same thing😂

We decided to announce our pregnancy yesterday as we were both just so excited and couldn't hold our pickle clearly, and we just have so many plans in feb in seemed easier to do it! So happy we did though and we've had the most amazing love from it!! However after feeling really reassured yesterday about the tests etc I'm now worrying, I know I'll have the downs test on the 8th, it's called the quad test if anyone knows anything about it or has had it before any knowledge on it is welcome!! But I'll have to wait until my 20 week scan on the 15th March to find out whether baby has symptoms of edwards and patau's, I know the chances are so low and more than likely even lower if the downs test comes back low risk, but I just can't help but worry even after the midwives reassurance yesterday!! OH said he feels confident and reassured in what they said and thinks it's pointless getting a NIPT test, which I don't even know if I could have now being 13 weeks??

2020mission · 23/01/2022 15:31

@Vil10 your scan is on the 15th March... is that your birthday then? It's my birthday too and my mums birthday! I wouldn't believe too much in that nub theory as it was wrong for us 😅 but since you'd be happy with either sex anyway it's all good. 12 weeks is a perfectly good time to share your news. I shared with family and friends at that point but just didn't tell work or people I wasn't as close to until later because of the losses I had before. Definitely don't worry about the NT screening. They've assured you the measurement looked fine at your scan and you're in your 20s so your odds are already lower!
