As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@larrythelizard so pleased all okay 🥰 Xx

whatwonder · 21/01/2022 15:50

@larrythelizard so glad that everything is okay! x

Haiyaa · 21/01/2022 16:02

Great news @larrythelizard, what a little diva giving you a wave after all that worry. And not long until your 12 week scan which is nice.

feliznavidad2 · 21/01/2022 18:52

Going to read properly at the weekend as shattered, and in desperate need of an Indian takeaway and an early night. I'm glad the scan went well @larrythelizard xx

Vil10 · 21/01/2022 20:11

@DKDK123 oh that's good you had the same woman so she knew!! But that must've been horrible when they didn't say anything, you'd automatically think the worst straight away!! I'll definitely ask them to tell me asap that everything's okay🤞🏼

@whatwonder hopefully!! What will be will be and all that jazz! Ive never known the dad to have to get whooping cough jab, the midwife said to me it's because the mother passes the immunity to the baby! But this is all new to me so I could be wrong x

@larrythelizard oh lovely news!! So happy everything was okay!! So are you 10 weeks today? How amazing is it!! We've been about 3/4 times when we want to treat ourselves to a steak meal that we know will be nice for a birthday or an occasion!

@Juno231 hahaha that makes sense!! Maybe your first dream is right🤞🏼🤞🏼 that's really good that they amended it! Going off LMP I should be 12+2 tomorrow but I know I ovulate a couple of days later than an average 30 day cycler, so I know I'm bang on 12 tomorrow but the midwife said they'll go off LMP for now!

paintfairy · 21/01/2022 23:17

@DKDK123 I've had dreams about people from school that I haven't seen since, and I always think- what on earth even triggers you to dream about them? Its really odd. I didn't realise about the 24 week thing. Being hormonal sounds not so fun! But it's all going fine! And all the extra checks will make sure nothing gets missed, definitely a good thing.
@SWAttempting I didn't realise it gets shorter. If I have an issue it'll be nearer the end so I guess they'll be watching for that. Fingers crossed i won't though. Its good they are keeping an eye on you! Hopefully you'll not need that stitch.
@Kirky658 🥰
@Vil10 at my 12 week scan there was still a separate screen. So I could see from the beginning. The baby was clearly moving so there was no wait. I'll look up that restaurant! I have still been eating steak though. Last night I asked for it medium but it was more cooked than I'd have liked- however it was maybe no bad thing. We've had it at home too. We have it on a steak stone so I'm in control of the colour it ends up. I just make sure I seal the edges and it's not too red and I can cut it up as I go. I love steak!
@whatwonder my midwife said the antibodies from the whooping cough vaccine are passed to the baby. And lasts until they get their own vaccine. So basically they are protected. So I suppose it doesn't matter about other people. Interesting about other counties approaches though? Having said that- does anyone know anyone that's even had whooping cough? I honestly don't think I have known anyone in my whole life that has?! Can't be that common? So likely what we do here must be working? 🤷‍♀️
@larrythelizard my symptoms stopped around the 10 week mark.
@Haiyaa not long now! The steroids make sense.
@bez91 I suppose a toastie is better than nothing. 🤣

So- I still need a new bin. That, and wallpaper shopping at the weekend. The joiner came back today to fit skirting so that can be painted now. No idea when he's coming back to do the wardrobes. But we discussed internals and you'll be pleased to know @Juno231 it looks like I'm going to be getting those too at some point in the future, as I can't see how we can do it any other way. I'm past caring- i just need it done. Whilst being bankrupt...... 🤣
I've also realised the 1 nice going out top i own that might work for going out next week must be packed away in a suitcase in the loft (since this was done in October). So I have to hunt for that. Why do I own no baggy clothes?! And I don't want to tell anyone yet........ I must be odd but still only my mum, step dad, friend, and a horse related friend (who i message but don't really see, but she had ivf), actually know. 🧐🤣

DKDK123 · 22/01/2022 03:01

@whatwonder thats interesting on the other countries having those around the baby get the jag, I didnt know that. If they did it in this country I'd be so up for DH having to get all the jags just so he can feel a smidgen of inconvenience we go through during pregnancy 😂

@larrythelizard glad to hear all was well and you got the reasurrance you needed.

@paintfairy if its before 24 weeks it's classified as a 'miscarriage of a late term fetus' but if you get over the 24 weeks it's recorded as a still birth. Also most hospitals won't do anything to try save baby if it's before 24 weeks although I was reading that more hospitals now are helping at 22/23 weeks on an individual basis as evidence shows some can survive that early with intervention. I know the logic in not helping, that survival that early is very unlikely and if they do it's most likely not ending in a good quality of life but at the same time the thought of delivering that early and no one trying to help save your baby seems cruel. I was watch a video of a woman cradling her 23 weeker who lived for about 20mins or so after birth but medics wouldn't do anything to help try save it which was heartbreaking and that's probably what made it pop into my mind when I woke the other night.
Only 1 week and 5 days to go to reach my next milestone of 24 weeks then Im sure I'll have something else to worry about 😂

larrythelizard · 22/01/2022 04:13

Yep 10 weeks tomorrow (or today I guess now) @Vil10. I'd forgotten how never ending this first trimester was!

You'll get there @DKDK123 - that's another day done.

Had DS in bed with us for an hour, he's now back in his bed asleep, DH immediately asleep next to me but I'm wide awake. Considering getting up and watching TV

Vil10 · 22/01/2022 06:27

@paintfairy hopefully there's a separate screen today too, the suspense will kill me otherwise! It's amazing!! I'd definitely recommend going there for a steak especially for occasions! I have been contemplating having one but I just don't know how I'd like it if it was medium, but like you said if it's on the stone you can control it yourself! Steak is the food of champions😋 at least things are looking like they're moving on the house front, I also have the same problem with clothes, my chilling clothes are all hoodies/jumpers so they're fine but my going out stuff all seems to be fitted not baggy and I have so much on in feb and don't think half the stuff I have will even fit, I'm at the phase where I look like I over indulged at Christmas and then havent lost it🙄 it's up to you when you're ready to share your news, deffo not odd, do it when you feel comfortable!

@larrythelizard almost at the 12 week mark though!! I had my early scan at 9w6d too, and you could see its little hands waving around too , so surreal isn't it! I'm wide awake too and have been since 5🙄

Vil10 · 22/01/2022 07:07

Came downstairs and the dog had been a little sick, didn't smell or anything was only a tiny bit so thought I'll be fine cleaning this, usually it doesnt bother, started wretching as I was cleaning it and then had to run to the bathroom and starting throwing up, nothing in my stomach so it was just bile and it killed my stomach!! However that's the first time I've physically been sick this pregnancy, the morning of my 12 week scan, right on cue😂

Minster2012 · 22/01/2022 07:57

Shall catch up shortly as went AWOL yesterday but @Vil10 scan day!! Not good on the hei g sick though

bez91 · 22/01/2022 08:07

@paintfairy living out of boxes and suitcases is the worst when house renovating, hope you find what you need! I don't think you're odd about not wanting to tell anyone, I didn't. I think we ended up telling people at 14 weeks but only because DH insisted, think it was just the fear after my MCs that it wasn't real. Also in a weird convoluted way it made me feel strange that others were over the moon for us yet I couldn't fight my way out of a pit of anxiety so felt kinda guilty about the way I felt, you don't have to rush to tell anyone - when you're ready!

24 weeks today, a bit like @DKDK123 has described this feels like the significant milestone for me rather than 12 or 20 week scan etc 😬 that pregnancy insomnia still has you? 🤦🏼‍♀️ when is your next appointment scheduled for?

@Vil10 best of luck for today ❤️ I think at my nhs scans there was 2 screens but I seem to recall them not turning the second one round immediately. Boooo to the sick, I think I was sick once and once only at a similar stage 🤷‍♀️ very strange! Hope that is it for you.

Also have a private scan today, we are taking DD so she can see baby. Her nursery worker told me yesterday when I picked her up that she was telling all her mates about it 😭

Minster2012 · 22/01/2022 08:24

Catching up I've read through

@paintfairy buy some baggy tops? It's ok to not want ppl to know, i thought you wrote that only your parents, friend and your horse knows 😂🤣. I wore baggy tops and things til after the 20 week scan & anyone that saw me was very surprised, I kinda didn't want the attention IYSWIM? Still didn't really want to acknowledge it too much. Now you can basically tell other than a hoody I was wearing last night 😂

@DKDK123 well watching a video of a woman cradling her dying early baby is not gonna help, keep talking to us and we'll get you through. It's interesting though about the stillborn /miscarriage thing. I actually changed our company maternity/paternity package whilst going through things with a HR consultant to include maternity/paternity leave for a loss after 20 weeks. I wanted to make it less but she vehemently pushed the other way so we settled on 20 weeks.

@Kirky658 OMG look at her!! They grow so fast

@larrythelizard it is never ending. Do you have your 12 week scan through?

@Vil10 if you have loads of stuff on in feb & only tight clothes are you gonna tell ppl after today?

@bez91 also yeyyyyyy for scan today and DD telling her mates that's lovely! I'm also counting down to 24 weeks, even my dad said a few weeks ago "well you are nearly at the viable baby stage now"

So a slightly later start for us this morning but only slightly despite DS not going to sleep til 10pm on the drive to go get drunken daddy (who was NOT wanting to leave). So I also had a late night (like 11.30!), I'm being really nice & letting daddy sleep 💤, he'll be as much use as a chocolate teapot today 😝

paintfairy · 22/01/2022 08:26

@Vil10 boooo the nearest Gaucho we have is 49 miles away. 🤣 So probably not happening in a hurry. Looks good though! We do have a Miller and Carter that's posh steak, I've only been once mind. I usually ask for mine medium (I find this completely varies! Mostly they seem to underdo it, which is why I don't ask for less. But occasionally they overdo it and I hate the texture of cooked steak!). But yeah right now I suppose we shouldn't be risking less.
I hope the scan goes well!
@bez91 awww DD. 🤣 Enjoy the scan! And I'm 14 weeks tomorrow but I just have no inclination to tell anyone yet. I could tell the people next week (which solves the clothing issue) but I just really don't want to. DH asked me when he can tell his family and I said I can't really tell you not to now. My only stipulation was not before the screening tests were back. Ideally I'd rather he wait a bit but it seems unfair of me to insist on that. But he's a ditherer and can't decide how to do it (he almost needs to tell 3 sets of people at once, to avoid them finding out from each other) so I doubt it'll be fast. And its unlikely we'll see any of them within the next month or so. He claims they'll be angry if we don't tell them until late though and I'm like- i really don't see why? 🤷‍♀️ Its no one's bloody business really. Its not like I'm 30 weeks. 🤣
@DKDK123 yes perhaps don't watch such things on tv! Things really plague my dreams if I'm not careful. I did watch a fair bit of pregnancy/ birth stuff before but now I'm not sure I dare. 🤣 That is very sad though.

Literally I reckon it's going to be at least 2 months until I have a functional wardrobe so that's not great. Climbing into the loft to look for clothes! 🙄 I'm trying to make do. Damn you fatness.

Last night I went to my friends house, she's got a (nearly) 3 year old. I literally do not know what we were thinking. 🤣 And he's an easy child. I came home and said to DH - what have we done? 😱🤣🤣🤣
I was just thinking I could run away before it happens but clearly that's a pointless idea. 🤦‍♀️🤣 Shows how much my brain is working........

paintfairy · 22/01/2022 08:30

@Minster2012 I physically hate clothes shopping. I'm also tight and I don't want buy more. 🤣 I usually buy online but not being able to try on isn't helpful. There used to be places to drive to (despise the city centre) but now we only really have next. But I'm the same- even if people know, I don't want to wear clothes that draw attention to it? And my horses do know! As does the dog. 🤭

Minster2012 · 22/01/2022 08:40

@paintfairy ha ha yeah threenagers are fun. Ish. ASOS is your friend

larrythelizard · 22/01/2022 08:46

Argh annoying @Vil10 at least you can blame the dog! What time is your scan today? I've got quite good at looking for the flickering heartbeat so I have seen that pretty quickly on the couple of scans this time round.

Aww that's cute @bez91 - what an excited older sister!

No letter yet @Minster2012, I reckon it'll come through in the next few days. You found like a very lovely wife letting him sleep! DS and I slept in until 8 after our disrupted night, DH went to the gym for 7.30.

It's not as bad as you think @paintfairy because they start as a newborn and whilst they're hard work because they don't sleep enough it's not the same as toddler hard work and by the time you get to toddler hard work you're used to it. I however think I might be mad doing toddler hard work + newborn?! At least DS will be 3 by then!

I also don't really plan on telling anyone at 12 weeks. DH really wants to tell his brother and I probably should tell my family so will do those. My mum will then tell half the world!

Juno231 · 22/01/2022 11:02

@Vil10 just popping my head in quickly to check when your scan is today? Am already finding myself checking the thread just to see if there's an update 😅

DKDK123 · 22/01/2022 11:36

Enjoy seeing your little bubs on screen again today @vil10 😊

@bez91 happy 24 week milestone, I'm sure that's brought you at least a little relief 🥳
So cute that your DD is excited about the scan today, you'll need to let us know what her reaction is seeing it on screen, it'll be such a special family time 🥰
My next appointment isn't until the middle of Feb, the weekly appointments don't start until the beginning of March so making the most of the peace before the constant appointments begin. I am however packing my hospital bag this weekend at DHs request so we have one in the car ready to grab if need be. Not 'thee' hospital bag just the one for overnight/2 night stays if I end up in and out again so that DH isn't in a panic trying to get me things and ends up packing god knows what. I remember last time having to get my SIL go fetch me stuff after DH brought up random shit like multipacl crisps and forgot about actual essentials like PJs, undies and a toiletteries 😂

@Minster2012 that's fab that you managed to get the mat leave after a loss pushed down to 20 weeks, obviously lower would have been better but 20 is still great compared to most. Hopefully tho, no one would ever need to use it!

@paintfairy I think @larrythelizard hit the nail on the head, it does get harde, but you get more used to dealing with the hard work. When the baby is a newborn and you're sleep deprived you'll think surely it can't get any harder than this......then when you're dealing with a tantruming toddler you'll look back on the newborn stage and wish you were back there when they stayed in the one place, didn't answer back and were relatively predictable. I'm sure once I reach the teenage stage I'll look back on the stage DS is at now and want to be back here not realising how easy it is in comparison, even tho it doesn't feel like it right now! 🤣

larrythelizard · 22/01/2022 11:56

Oh god yeah i dread the teenage years @DKDK123

Vil10 · 22/01/2022 13:41

So sorry it's a late check in girls!! I've been on the phone to my mum and sister then we had a house viewing so it's been hectic!!

Buttt baby is all healthy and perfect!! Very very stubborn though like it's dad😂 got sent away twice to go for a walk and jump around, then when I came back baby had woke up and looked like he/she was fuming, kicking legs and stretching arms eveywhere!! Unfortunately they couldn't get the NT measurement because of how baby was lying so they couldn't do the bloods either, the woman doing the scan told me that it looked normal to her and didn't look enlarged but she has to hit certain criteria to actually log it and she couldn't, the midwife was lovely too and really reassured me, she said the fact that the scanning lady said that is good because if it was too thick it would be easy to see and obviously it wouldn't be good, she also said with my age/health and no family history of any of the syndromes that I'd be really low risk anyway, but I'm going back on the 8th for a blood test for downs but the other 2 will have to wait until my 20 week scan, which has been booked on my birthday!! They were so lovely and reassured me so much and surprisingly I'm not worried at all!!But other than that all good and I'm measuring 5 days ahead too so due date has been moved to 1st August!!

feliznavidad2 · 22/01/2022 14:48

Eee, lovely news @Vil10 and very exciting to have your DD moved forward a few days. 😃 How did the house viewing go?

You're a good lady @Minster2012 I'm awful for sending DS in when OH is hanging 🤫 😂

That's so cute @bez91 do share how your scan goes! How old is your DD? Our DS keeps talking to 'his baby' and asking if she's a cutie?! 😆 I never use that word but whatevs...

10 weeks has gone quick @larrythelizard although sure it hasn't felt it for you. Glad everything looked good at the scan.

I've got DS' awful cough, was awake for ages in the night despite four pillows, have gone for ANOTHER Covid PCR. I don't think it is the big C but do feel ropey. And my pelvic floor is apparently already shot. Blush

2020mission · 22/01/2022 15:24

Lovely news and scan photo @Vil10! 🎉 hopefully you'll not be sick again... I dry heaved once and had the nausea but never actually threw up. Felt very lucky to have avoided that! Your birthday will be extra special this year with the scan falling on it 💕

bez91 · 22/01/2022 15:40

@DKDK123 that's sensible of you with the bag, especially if DH failed to bring the basics such as underwear last time 😂 a multipack of crisps though, that would be my DH!

@Vil10 fab news and glad they were so good with you and provided you with so much reassurance, that's so lovely! What a super special birthday present coming up for you.

@feliznavidad2 DD is 4 😊 I'm also the same as you, no sympathy for any hungover DH, send in the child 😆 oh yes, DD says "my baby" too to everyone. Annoying on the cough, hope it's not the dreaded C! My pelvic floor also seems a bit dodgy, never had a problem after having DD so weird having it now. Did you have any issues after DS?

Scan all went well, sonographer said baby approx 1lb 8oz which I know can be really out and it's prob a bit ambitious for my size and gestation 😆 some of the scan was 4d so DDs summary of the scan was;
"Why is the baby sad?"
"Why is the baby not smiling?"
"It looks like a pig that's running daddy"
"I really enjoyed seeing the baby" 😆

larrythelizard · 22/01/2022 16:19

Yay @Vil10 sounds like a fab day. Do you have a big announcement planned?

Oh dear @feliznavidad2 hope it's not Covid, also hope your pelvic floor copes (for anyone that's interested I was taught at a pelvic floor rehab course post DS that the 'correct' way to perform pelvic floor exercises is bum hole, vagina, wee hole, like a zip zipping up!). Can you steam yourself or something to give yourself some relief?

😂😂😂 @bez91 'it looks like a pig that's running' is amazing!
