As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@Haiyaa I know what you mean, I was induced at 39 weeks so a little early. I felt a bit guilty about picking his birthday rather then waiting and letting it happen naturally... does that sound silly? 😆 but it did make sure he didn't have a birthday on Hogmanay or New Year's Day. I do wonder when he would have came naturally if we waited. We only got induced due to excess amniotic fluid and they thought he was getting too big too but he ended up only being 7lbs 1oz!

DKDK123 · 20/01/2022 14:00

@larrythelizard all sounds completely normal but no harm in calling EPU to chat to someone to try put your mind at ease. I dont think they'll do anything other than just try to reasurre you over the phone but there's no harm in phoning. If that doesn't reassure you then a private scan would 100% be worth it just so you can feel at ease again (till next time, as pregnancy after a loss is just one big worry start to finish!).

@Crazydoglady123 sounds like you have an amazing midwife! I see the same consultant but actual midwife wise we're assigned to a team so it could be any one of about 8/10 midwives and its so draining having to retell the story every time I see a new one, I'd love to have one right through like yours. Happy freedom day, but some importantly happy getting to see your son again day! Bet there's tears all round it will have felt like forever!
Just read your update on the sweep, great progression already! Try not to worry about the little bleed but good that you've got a scan tonight anyways. Hopefully baby is about to make an appearance soon!

Happy birthday @paintfairy 🥳🍰

@Kate105, not death but you can definitely get delusional and hallucinate from repeated sleep deprivation. From some one who was repeatedly sleep deprived for the first 2 1/2years I offer you complete sympathy as it's brutal. Special forces use sleep deprivation as a form of torture, I used to tell myself if I can get through it I'm stronger than special forces 😂 whatever works! Hopefully you manage to squeeze in a wee nap at some point today, sending massive hugs, it will end one day I promise.

@Haiyaa optimistically I was hoping to work till 35 weeks if they were planning on taking her out at 37 so that would give me 2 weeks to rest prior to it. However at this rate I doubt I'll last as long as 35 weeks, and the midwife did also point out I may be in hospital or already have had the baby by 35 weeks as that's when DS was born so I may want to think about starting mat leave earlier than that to factor in rest time.
Eek so close to your eviction day! 😊 Hand hold for the steroids tho as you're right they sting like a bitch, already dreading them and I'm fine with needles but the pain of them is definitely ingrained in my head as I wasn't expecting it to be so sore 🙈 Glad to hear baby's not measuring a whopper tho 😂

@Vil10 the exact same worries run through everyone's head before a scan so I won't tell you not to worry as it's pointless. I will say once they tell you everything's OK then relax and enjoy seeing your wee baby again who will look like a proper baby this time, it's amazing how quickly the grow at the start into looking 100% baby from a squiggle on screen 😊

DS is being most uncooperative today and making me question what on earth I was thinking deciding to add another to the equation 🤯 Times like this I wish wine was still on the cards 😂

Crazydoglady123 · 20/01/2022 14:02

@2020mission that was me with DS! Two "successful sweeps", lost my plug but nope he didn't want to come naturally and was induced at 42 weeks. Admittedly induction with him was easy but I really hope to experience a spontaneous labour this time. I'm 40 weeks

paintfairy · 20/01/2022 15:00

@Vil10 🤬 on the house.
@Minster2012 annoying about the neighbour! And bath!
@blackcurrantqueen loving that part of the update was about poo concern. 🤣
@DKDK123 flu in June! God. I thought every 2 weeks after 28 weeks might seem excessive later but every week?! Aaarrrgghhh.
@Kirky658 I can't believe Alice is that old already! Madness.
@Haiyaa @blackcurrantqueen I'm sure my boobs have grown even since new bras last week! 🙈 FFS.
@Juno231 omg don't ask about the wardrobes. Worst day ever! He turned up with them and then was like- oh, you've ripped the old one's completely out? Erm yes? (The old ones were terrible and wooden and just a front. With insides just bodged and shelves attached to walls etc). Although we had discussed him putting sliding doors up we weren't having him do the insides yet as we couldn't afford that. So we said do the front and worry about inside later. The other option (he suggested) was buy ikea stuff. So why he thought there would be a carcass I've no idea but somehow he did. Which means he hasn't got all he needs and needs to order more panels. And has no idea how long that'll take and he's booked up for ages. I'm not happy.......

I've got more to write but I need to go! Be back later......

Lexber · 20/01/2022 15:06

Congratulations @blackcurrantqueen !! 💖💖

Happy Birthday @paintfairy xx

Aww @Crazydoglady123 so glad you are free and can see your son again, I can't imagine how hard it's been for you xx
Ooh how exciting that things could happen soon...

Thanks @Minster2012 @Kirky658 @Vil10 @Crazydoglady123

@DKDK123 it's good they're taking things serious and monitoring you weekly - you will be in safe hands xx

Scan went really well, saw MW Tuesday too. 24+1 (how did that happen?!?!)

Been a busy week trying to catch up at work whilst also baby appointments. Both babies growing well 💙💖 boy has now turned and is head down so I may get my natural birth after all (still plenty of time for him to move mind...) we briefly discussed options and possibilities for birth. If I can go natural it will be an early epidural for several reasons and a very busy room so my faff will be the centre of attention 🤣
If he moves back to transverse (we will decide at 36 weeks if I get that far!) then it's an elective section about 37 weeks.

Everything is thankfully as it should be after our scare, apparently my other kids were small (7lb 2.5 39+3 and 6lb 13.5 40+6) so with that and the fact it's twins I'm now on 2weekly scans! He is estimated at 646g, she is estimated at 596g ❤️

Lexber · 20/01/2022 15:49

Oh I forgot to mention- I took my dad with me today for my scan (he has never been to one as men weren't allowed years ago) so OH defluffed me last night so as not to flash my bush at my old man 🤣
Talk about funny - I was laughing so much as it was the most awkward but funny thing ever. He got so carried away it's cold down there now and he is extremely proud of himself 🤣🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

My dad absolutely loved the scan, he was so excited and in awe bless him. He asked so many questions and the sonographer was brilliant and really helpful showing him bits and telling him what it was and who it was. She loved having an excited grandad there I get the feeling it's not a common one. He came home telling my mum (who was initially coming but is full of cold so decided not to) all about it and describing everything to her ❤️ my OH was so happy he got to experience it, he was working and suggested asking my mum so we could share it with them

Haiyaa · 20/01/2022 16:29

OMG that is just the cutest @Lexber, I’m sure your dad will treasure the memory forever ❤️

Glad everything went ok with the scan, so you have more frequent appointments with it being twins? I can’t believe how tiny they are, although I’m sure as time goes on it won’t feel that way with there being two of them and your other babies being so dainty (so jealous btw, why do I have to make giant babies 😂).

Oooh is it your birthday @paintfairy? Got anything planned or have I missed it on the thread already? Happy birthday anyway!

What a nightmare @DKDK123, hope it doesn’t take too long to sort although from experience it seems that decent tradespeople are like hens teeth at the moment, there is so much demand!

Doesn’t sound silly at all @2020mission, although from looking at mumsnet and from friends and family experience it really seems like nobody goes into spontaneous labour nowadays, babies are getting too comfortable 😂

Hopefully the sweep is successful @Crazydoglady123, time for some curry, pineapple and 🍆 with plenty of action on the nips!

Have any of you due date imminent/new bus baby mamas managed to harvest colostrum? Tried with DD and got zilch, trying again this time and still nothing. I was hoping to get some as milk can be a bit slow to come in after elective section and DD lost a lot of weight.

paintfairy · 20/01/2022 16:46

Right, I'm back.
@Crazydoglady123 omg, madness on the sweep! Maybe it really will be soon! Yes the bleeding would worry me, I hope its stopped now?
@Lexber great news everything is OK. And that the boy is the right way! 🥳 Its what we like to hear. Awww, that's lovely about your dad. I had never thought of that- that they wouldn't have had that back then. Strange really!
@Haiyaa just a meal out, nothing exciting.

Right, wardrobe rant part 2. It matters delaying everything because we are sleeping in the spare room. That room will become the office and then the front room (currently office) will be the babies room. We also need to plaster downstairs and sort a new baninster, flooring, skirting, decorating etc. So a first hold up is not really what I want!
What else..... well DH has managed to break our kitchen bin. Its a round one where you press a button and it opens. So how on earth do you manage to completely smash the lid?! 🤷‍♀️ I have broken a pair of scissors today, trying to cut the stems off flowers DH bought me. So one more thing must be going to happen. 🤣

And I've also had my screening letter back! Came today. So even though they said 2 weeks it was less than a week. No idea if everyone's will be that fast but I thought that was pretty good. My downs ratio is in fact 1 in 3460 (seems very specific). And the other 2 are 1 in 100,000.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. 😊

blackcurrantqueen · 20/01/2022 17:01

@paintfairy happy birthday!!!

@Haiyaa I harvested a bit of colostrum it takes patience and practice ! Try after a bath with lots of boob massage and YouTube videos for technique. My milk has come in today - day 3!! Earlier than last time. So hopefully it'll be the same for you! X

Juno231 · 20/01/2022 17:22

@paintfairy could you work on getting the wardrobe carcasses in in the mean time? I must say I'm confused as to why you'd get a carpenter in to do doors when there's nothing to attach them to so perhaps I'm missing something 😅

@lexber wait why would your bush be out?? Or are we talking just top of pants when they get pulled down a bit. I think it's ADORABLE that your dad went with btw ❤️❤️❤️

@Haiyaa how many weeks are you again? I keep forgetting where everyone's at

@SWAttempting how are you and baba doing?

Lexber · 20/01/2022 17:51

@Haiyaa I thought they were average but apparently going on my height/weight they're small for me... my app estimated a baby at 24 weeks to be 600g so both spot on. Plus their waters and placentas.. I def know I have them! I was told at my 12 week appointment every 2 weeks from 28 weeks (which is Normal for DCDA twins - separate placentas) but they've decided on growth scans every 2 weeks from now on due to me having smaller babies and just to be sure/monitor them possibly after my 2 bleeds at 15/16 weeks and then being in hospital with covid too.

@paintfairy I was shocked to hear he never had I didn't even consider that they might not! He definitely enjoyed it! And My OH was so happy he enjoyed it so much!

@Juno231 at my 20 weeks scan the sonographer pulled down to tuck in the paper so far there was extreme bush 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 considering I've not seen it for months as can't reach it I'm not surprised- god bless OH! So I wanted to be prepared incase it happened again as my friend was with me and laughing her head off 🤣 and thankfully she didn't go as low

SWAttempting · 20/01/2022 18:03

@Juno231 Well this baby has double the Papp-A than Hudson had so that a 👍🏻

However my cervix is 2mm away from requiring a stitch! 🤦🏻‍♀️

How are you getting on??

This is a baby update from yesterday

Minster2012 · 20/01/2022 19:14

Wow chatty lot today!

@Kate105 when the calpol stops working that's when you go for the alcohol. And keep handing TSD to husband. It will pass, keep going

So is next weds section day @Haiyaa? Omg I mean basically either section or natural birth we are all screwed right?! Great 😂

@Kirky658 is it helping? The therapy?

@Vil10 12 weeks can't believe it! It will show a lovely happy growing baby

@Crazydoglady123 I thought you had to go into Labour within 24 hours of having waters broken?

@2020mission "a favourable Cervix" 😂☺️

@DKDK123 I also think the extra care they are taking with you is good not a sign it will go wrong. It's about keeping it right as long as possible

becarefuloutthere · 20/01/2022 19:18

Sorry not caught up yet, but wanted to come on to say happy birthday to @paintfairy hope you've been able to enjoy it!
Last nct class tonight so should be able to stay on top of msgs more...as long as I also catch up on some much needed sleep 😴

Minster2012 · 20/01/2022 19:19

Omg that's so cute on your dad @Lexber really cute! I bet they don't get many granddads in there no! So good that the babies are doing well, and good dad didn't see extreme bush 🤣

@paintfairy feeling your wardrobe pain

@SWAttempting wow look at that!! Crazy! Looks great though not the cervix stitch potential. How far along are you now?

Kirky658 · 20/01/2022 19:49

@haiyaa I wasn't able to harvest colostrum till after the birth! Then it was a case of having a little cuddle blanket that smelled of Alice and looking at pictures of her to help the flow... Sounds odd but it works!
@blackcurrantqueen yay to day 3 milkies!
@minster2012 I think it's helping. It is just challenging because you split the trauma into different memories and process a different one each time, some take more sessions than others to process.
@lexber so cute your dad came with!
@paintfairy happy birthday and fab news on the test result, mine was 1 in 2500 xx

2020mission · 20/01/2022 20:19

@Minster2012 😆 favourable cervix is a term they use honestly! haha

Crazydoglady123 · 20/01/2022 20:36

Quick update ladies! So much for spending time with DS tonight 😕 I had more blood so sent my midwife a pic and she called me and said I need to speak to DAU and pop in there before my scan. So I had an hour with him max from school and have been in DAU since. The bleeding has stopped but they're not sure if my hind waters are trickling so I've had to have a pad on to monitor it. If it's not then I will be sent home, if it is they may want me to stay in

Minster2012 · 20/01/2022 20:51

@Crazydoglady123 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@2020mission well I guess there's many similar terms we've had over the course of the threads 😂

@Kirky658 sounds like it might be helping slowly, keep with it

@blackcurrantqueen them big boobs ain't just for resting on it seems 😂

Crazydoglady123 · 20/01/2022 22:01

I got sent home 🎉 having cuddles with DS in bed 🥰

Kirky658 · 20/01/2022 22:04

@crazydoglady123 thank goodness you're home safe xx

Juno231 · 21/01/2022 07:15

Gah I had two dreams last night - in one we opened the NIPT results and found out we were having a girl - in the second dream we found out it was a boy. What a mind f*. And I got upset in the second one because I could remember the results from the first dream!

Minster2012 · 21/01/2022 07:41

@Juno231 😂😂😂your mind is playing with you

SWAttempting · 21/01/2022 07:54

@Minster2012 I am 14 weeks tomorrow!

Hello second trimester!! 🥳

Only 4 more weeks and I'll be half way to delivery! 🥳

larrythelizard · 21/01/2022 07:55

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 @Crazydoglady123

Is that because you have a preference for a girl @Juno231 or just crazy dreams?

Low level cramps still continuing with the very occasional sharper pain and definitely feeling less sick - I have booked a private scan for the earliest appt I could today (lunchtime) and am definitely expecting bad news. I feel like I've got too ahead of myself and told a few people that I didn't strictly need to and jinxed it which I do know is ridiculous because at this stage it either works or it doesn't.
