As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

Ha that is interesting in that I see purple as a girls colour @Juno231! My friends little one pretty much wore white bodysuits for the first few months of her life and she looked gorgeous!

@Juno231 I'm the same actually. I said to DH - clearly a nice soft green, not racing green. 🤣 Pastel purple is maybe a bit girly though. I suggested she knitted both colours and hope we can find someone with a baby of the other sex afterwards, to give the others to. 🤭 Having said this- the baby is due in July, so how much knitted anything I'll be needing in a hurry, I'm not sure? 🤔 @larrythelizard i think I'd prefer colours to anything drab though. But my own wardrobe is very much like yours! I'm definitely a black and boring person!

@paintfairy you’re probably right, not quite so much demand for woollies in the summer! Maybe mums can get started on multicoloured blankets if they’re desperate to make something? Mine’s still got a small number of cardis that she and my nanna knitted forty-odd years ago!

@Sunbird24 my mum has done loads but she gives then to friends for family or the hospital for premature babies. She's done blankets too. Nothing wrong with a white blanket. 🤣 Then she's got a few months to work on clothes before winter!

DS had a couple of bits made for his uncle who is 41 this year which were pretty cool @Sunbird24

Was lots of chatting today, we had friends over for lunch & the afternoon @becarefuloutthere
so been quiet on here but very noisy at home with 6 adults & 5 kids then 2 extra adults & a gorgeous newborn as our friends dropped in as well abd she only had a c section on 28th Dec!! We played pass the baby & he was so snoozy & snuggly 💕🥰 the house is a state 🤪will put some pics on Insta

@kaylsd that sounds such a lovely way to tell them and so emotional then, it's great 😊 Etta is on the list but not top 🤔.

@DKDK123 I think we all would find it weird if your baby isn't Emily!! It yeah if it was tarquin or something it would've been different 😜I don't think I was ever the polite first mum, as I got so many comments about formula feeding & crap like that. Pretty sure I'll be worse this time. I go with high heart rate burning calories. I shall tell myself this

@Kate105 I just want to clarify it was TSD that stuck hands in his own mouth & made himself sick not sticking his hands down DH's mouth & making him sick?! Just want to check

@paintfairy no Etta at his nursery nope, I guess someone could've joined but certainly wasn't before. Look at that ACTUAL BABY!! It looks like a baby!! 🥰🙌🏻❤️so pleasing and yes, that's IN YOU 😊and I still vote Freddo as a name. Can be Frederick for full name?! There's so many lovely colours around for unisex, mint is lovely, yellow, greens, turquoise, I like both the pastels & neutrals like burnt orange & the brights @Juno231 sage is a beautiful colour for babies, I have a preference in general for bright of course if you haven't noticed 😀

It's the Aldi baby event from 6th Jan, just saying @kaylsd cos you wait til it's baby stuff 😂I've got my eye on a bigger pregnancy pillow 👀

@feliznavidad2 just ill 🤒 it used to be a thing!! I've been ill, as has DH & done all the constant testing so I think there might still be illnesses around 🤣

@Juno231 @larrythelizard @paintfairy I'm complete opposite with colours🙄think a newborn in crisp white is just adorable, and all the clothes I'll be buying will be white and beige/natural colours, until the baby is born and we know the gender, I'm boring with my own clothes colours though too, all black grey and white😂

@larrythelizard the crisps were amazing!! Ooo chips help nausea?? Deffo noting that one down mentally, although won't help for me trying to cut out the bad stuff from Tuesday🙄

Well tonight whilst cooking tea the smell of onions was like the taste of eggs for me at the minute, like pollution/chemicals🤢 I was starving and really looking forward to the chicken and chorizo jambalaya I did, had about 5 mouthfuls, the chicken tasted a tad like pollution too, then I was put off it and then felt sick, I've always been a hugeeee lover of food so this is weird for me😂

@Minster2012 how do you know when these events are on? I feel its too soon to buy anything yet but maybe they'll have another? And Freddo would be weird if it was a girl. 🤣 I also have a Freddie opposite.
@Vil10 I do really like white to be fair! But it just is a bit much if everything is that. And onion! That was a massive issue for me. First I went off garlic (usually i have garlic bread with spag bol etc) and I had it more than once before realising it left a vile taste in my mouth for hours. Disgusting. Now no garlic. Then it was onion. Whilst I have eaten small amounts (on s McDonald's cheeseburger or whatever) I can't a lot. And the smell! I walked by DH one day from the bathroom (he works upstairs in the office) and was like- wtf are you eating? It smelt horrific. He said a cheese and onion sandwich. I honestly didn't believe him. It didn't smell like onion at all. Just something horrendous. 🤣 Whilst the smell of cheese is OK, that doesn't sit very well if I eat it. I love pizza but even that's been out the last few weeks. I did go off chips! Which is insane. But they seem OK again now.

So- I have a question about NIPT tests. I didn't realise there were several different ones. Is one deemed better? The place i went to today do it but depending on clinic (it's a main website for all) depends which they offer. One was harmony and the other something else. About £400. I'm sure there are other clinics though that offer them around here.
Looking at the hospital website for where I live it appears they offer NIPT testing but it's one beginning with V that I can't remember the name of, without coming off this to look. However it doesn't seem to be the most widely used? Its only £250 though. I have no idea if they offer it when you go or what but it does say you shouldn't have that as well as the standard NHS tests, because they would be possibly contradictory and therefore confusing. Which seems bonkers.
So I just wondered what people's thoughts on this was? Would you wait to see what the basic NHS ones show and then decide? Or is it worth doing anyway? And which one!

Vanadis was the hospital one.

@paintfairy they usually come with comparison tables? I think I'm going to get the panorama test as it includes micro deletions whereas eg harmony seems to primarily only test for trisomy.

@paintfairy a quick Google shows that vanadis is just the name of a company that does harmony tests so def go for the hospital one in that case if it's that much cheaper!

@paintfairy someone posted the Aldi baby event link on the may group I'm on, plus I shop at Aldi so it was plastered all over the advertising. I waited until after the NHS scans for both of ours to decide on NIPT, DS's they couldn't do his nuchal measurements so we did the NIPT for him, and this one came back as low risk so then we felt reassured

@kaylsd my DH tried to steer me away from the random aisle in Aldi for that reason 😂

@feliznavidad2 we've l came back with negative PCRs too despite all 3 of us feeling like utter shit and non stop coughing, looks like another super cold bug going around, the last one took about 3 weeks to shift. But of course coughing in public now gets you the death stare look 🙄

@Vil10 the super sensitive smelling is not fun, I can total sympathise with you. Luckily I seem to have escaped that symptom this time round but had it really bad with DH, every smell was magnified and made me want to puke. I can't remember what week it finally started to get less sensitive at but hold onto the hope it does eventually fade again.

@paintfairy lemon and mint green knitted sets are lovely on both sexes tell her to get started on those for now

@bez91 a dye stealer covid test 🤣 being male of course he was going to get it a gazillion times worse anyways, dont they always even with a normal cold? (At least that's how they see it)

@Juno231 think it's the only time in my life I'll be likened with an athlete so I'll take it 😂 It was just so bizarre, like I've been getting out of breath this pregnancy doing simple things which was expected but after that housework yesterday I was proper sweating and my heart was thumping like I'd done a cardio session it just felt so strange as I definitely didn't do enough to warrant the feeling! One more sleep till your scam, how exciting 😁

Forgot to say with the pics that's the baby events for the start of the year but don't worry they always seem to have them on every 3 months or so if you miss one.

Following with interest about NIPT @Minster2012 @paintfairy I didn't say the other day as was a bit 🤔 about it at the time - fine now, but they couldn't get NT measurement last week, I spoke to the screening midwife who was helpful and she said if we wanted reassurance then to consider NIPT.

I've now got a harmony test book on Wednesday.

Re genetics tests, how comes you're doing them? Did you get told your embryo grade? I figured as that was so good, that it meant that the genetics should be good too, or perhaps that was naive of me 😳

@becarefuloutthere we've avoided it too so far. I hope it passes quickly! I'm not sure it works like that? Even that is a guess isn't it? But mine was a care one and they don't grade like others and I've zero clue what it meant as there was nothing to say. So I'm not sure why they told me. 🤣 It was 2.2. They did say it had improved more between my call and us arriving but what does that even mean? No idea.
@feliznavidad2 oh you should have said! Aren't they meant to keep you until they do? Or rebook? But yes i think booking the test is sensible and I would have done exactly the same.
@DKDK123 🤣 list of baby events. Excellent! Where do you even get such things? I am not sure at what point I'll even know what I'm supposed to buy. 🤣 I do want a pregnancy pillow though @Minster2012
@Juno231 its weird because the midwife never mentioned it? And you'd think they would so you could think about it before the day and decide? You might go alone for the scan so dropping it on you there and expecting a decision, at that cost, is a bit wrong? I didn't even know they did it, I just happened to Google nipt and my city and it came up. So whether you can easily access it, I've no idea. 🤷‍♀️

@paintfairy I just felt a bit, I don't even know what the word is about it. They said it was due to baby position, and they did try for a good half an hour. They don't typically offer rescans according to my err google researching.

Oh they also said it was likely due to BMI - I am two stone fatter this time around though. 🤷‍♀️

@paintfairy yeah I know what you mean! Oooo garlic, I seem okay with that so far but I don't really have garlic bread only in stuff when cooking so maybe I can't taste it much??hahahaha I remember you saying that about the onion, isn't it weird how things can just change and make you question your senses😂 go off chips?? That is insane!! Sorry I cant be much help with the NIPT questions, it's not really something I've looked into! Is it something you're having because you said the other day from being on a thread you didn't realise the complications which can come from IVF?

@Minster2012 yep everything stinks but you know what, im embracing every moment, even when I wretch and I'm like 🤢 afterwards i say to myself well baby must be doing something in there, I've wanted this for almost 2 years and im embracing the whole lot!

@becarefuloutthere my mum told me last night with both her pregnancies she was a wretcher and felt nauseous, so we must be the same! How're you feeling today? Did you get an NIPT? I feel like most people are and don't know if it's bad that I'm not?🙄

@Vil10 I mean, at my other scans it's been fine and last time with DS they had no problems... they offer you a quad test for Down's syndrome at 16 weeks instead but it doesn't cover Edwards' syndrome or Patau syndrome like the 12 week screening does. I will keep you all updated.

Don't feel you should if you're not concerned lovely, I didn't even think about it last time with DS but guess I'm much more conscious of what can go wrong this time and need the reassurance especially with no NT measurement x

@feliznavidad2 no I deffo know what you mean, I'd want the reassurance too if they couldn't get the measurements! Yeah it's an odd one, i have been slightly worried thinking "what if there's a defect or the baby isn't healthy" but I think all parents to be think that don't they, but then I haven't been overly concerned or thought that there is a high enough chance to get the test done! So when would you get your results back from the test on Wednesday?x

Will check in more in a bit but just had our 20 week scan (20+1 now) and all looking as it should. I find it bizarre that's inside me, and you could see everything & of course they check everything & yet I can't feel a thing...mental!! They also said girl which is fab & I have a posterior placenta so could feel movements early.
I think I felt something the other night but that's it ❤️🌈so happy and feeling real now
