As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@blackcurrantqueen so sorry to read about your grandma, this month is going to be an emotional rollercoaster by the sound of it Flowers

@Kate105 you knitted that yourself?? Blimey, that’s really impressive! I’m sure when TSD is a bit older he’ll be a bit more appreciative…

I’m allergic to paracetamol so heaven only knows what painkillers I’d be allowed if I have a section - they usually give me morphine post-surgery but suspect that might be an issue in these circumstances 🤔

larrythelizard · 03/01/2022 19:46

Sorry to hear about your grandma @blackcurrantqueen. Slide might pop the baby out so I don't think it was that stupid?! Put DS to bed and he kept untucking himself and calling that I needed to tuck him in. Little shit!

Yes exactly what I'm saying @Minster2012 a C-Section will be nothing for a warrior woman like you. Too many pickled onions is the number that gives you heartburn. I was really enjoying gherkins last night but dropped the whole jar on the tiled floor and it smashed EVERYWHERE so it was a nightmare to clean up and obviously worse than that there were no more gherkins to eat!

@Kate105 he's a gorgeous sleep thief even if he is a sleep thief!

@Kate105 love the wee jumper so talented! Maybe he wanted to wear a different one for the photo tho 😂

@Minster2012 it must just depend on the luck of your GP surgery then (like we found with ttc it can vary greatly!) as my doc said they wouldn't clear anyone until their 6 week check up.

@2020mission I struggled with breast feeding after my blood loss too. The nurse said it was because my body was focusing on healing itself first rather than the baby (selfish body 🙈). And DS became lazy trying to work for milk at the breast as he was used to the ease of bottles in the NICU. I tried combi feeding but ultimately gave up after about 6 weeks as no matter how much I was trying to express round the clock I just never seemed to get a decent supply. The only positive was I didn't have to do all the cabbage leaves and stuff to get mine to dry up and never had to wear breast pads as there was never any milk flowing out I just stopped feeding or expressing one day and that was it. Hope your supply starts to fill out quickly, but if it doesn't don't beat yourself up about it, you tried and your body's been through a lot. (I say that from hindsight, I felt so guilty and such a failurefor ages afterward giving up!)
As for the c section recovery there are some women on here who've shared lovely c section stories so it seems to be a hit or miss how your recovery goes. I was in so much pain I swore I was NEVER getting pregnant again .......clearly forgot that part when ttc 😂 The worst parts for me wasn't the constant ache as you become used to that, it was the pain that caught you unexpectedly like sneezing, coughing or laughing could have me in tears as it felt like my entire insides were getting ripped open again, same as every teeny bump the car hit on the journey home. And it took me about 2 weeks to be able to lie down in bed as the pain of getting up from lying flat was excruciating. Or I'd begin to feel like I was healing then overdo it by lifting something heavy or walking too far and the next day it felt like healing was starting from day 1 again. I 100% hated every bit of recovery and was totally dreading having to go through it all again but hearing some of the more positive stories on here gives me hope that maybe 2nd time round I might get it lucky and it might not be so bad this time round. 🤞

@blackcurrantqueen the insurance thing definitely isn't a myth but I think it is down to individual policies. I can't remember who I was with when I had DS but I contacted them to check and they said their policy was you were fine to drive after your doctor had cleared you as long as you could do an emergency stop (and possibly something else 🤔). They said I didn't have to contact them to let them know when I was cleared but if I was involved in an accident they would need proof I hadn't driven before doctor approval. My doc however had a blanket no one gets cleared as ok until their 6 week check up, I'm guessing they were just covering their own asses incase you ever were in an accident. 🙄
6 months of exclusive pumping, you are superwoman, I found 6 weeks of trying to pump and formula feed a round the clock exhausting job let alone exclusive pumping! Go you! So sorry to hear about your grandma tho 😔

@Sunbird24 I can't remember the name of the good drugs in the hospital but there was definitely something other than paracetamol. Once discharged tho they did say to do paracetamol/ibuprofen combos so if you're OK with ibuprofen at least you could have that. During the section they also offer a good painkiller that they insert up the bum while doing your section but ask your permission before going for your section, I know a friend who refused this as she didn't like the thought of something being inserted up there but I was very much if I'm going to be lying sliced open on your table then having something inserted in my rear end is the last of my worries so give me all the good drugs going 🤣

Minster2012 · 03/01/2022 20:23

@bez91 if it's blood thinners you need I've got a cupboard full 😂

@blackcurrantqueen that's my girl driving early, I mean in theory if something happened as it's a company car I could try Blame someone else? Obviously joking before any silly Pearl clutchers get at me 😂. You know I'm here for you and also think having a section date will help you plan, but having things organised (including a bag) also helps, as does MacDonalds (anecdotal but still helps) Maybe sliding down a huge slide helps too 🤔

@Kirky658 ahhh someone had already topped up the milk supply, now I know why ppl say get the milk in 😂

@Sunbird24 I have every faith you'd get some good painkillers surely more than paracetamol is appropriate and allowed?

@larrythelizard I haven't got heartburn yet or dropped it so that's good then! Did the floor stink?!

Sunbird24 · 03/01/2022 20:36

@DKDK123 sadly allergic to ibuprofen as well - however after the number of progesterone pessaries I’ve had over the last 18 months I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at a painkiller going up there! 🤣

Juno231 · 03/01/2022 20:41

@Minster2012 I'm so glad your scan went well - can't believe you're more than halfway through!

I've been so so cold today 🥶. Also had an upset tummy all afternoon/evening and struggled to eat my dinner. Even rushed to spit out a mouthful as no matter how much I chewed i couldn't bring myself to swallow it. Really random day.

Bricking it about tomorrow's scan, I'm convinced there won't be anything in there 🙊. It's at 7pm so don't wait all day for an update from me though!

Minster2012 · 03/01/2022 20:42

I'd so love to say it all gets so much better with kids but in the time in which I last write a message to now DS shouted us from upstairs...I go to find out out why & he's walking out of the toilet with his pjs & nappy round his ankles saying he had to use the other bit to wipe..."have you done a 💩 ?" I ask. "Yes"
I follow him into the toilet & he turns around and his entire arse & legs are covered in 💩 & he's pointing to the empty toilet roll he'd put back on the hanger saying "It went so I used the inside bit". So of course yes he's wiped his arse (not well) with the cardboard loo roll inner, filled the toilet with poo and roll & got shit all over everywhere in the bathroom.

DH GET UP HERE THIS IS A 2 MAN JOB I shout 😳

It's all shits and giggles really.

Sunbird24 · 03/01/2022 21:03

@Juno231 good luck for tomorrow, I’ll be keeping as much as I can crossed for you. 🤞

@Minster2012 oh no, did you have to chuck DS in the shower?

blackcurrantqueen · 03/01/2022 21:37

@DKDK123 see I contacted mine and they couldn't have cared less, basically said so long as you feel ok to drive and weren't bothered about medical approval to drive or anything !! But yeah I guess it does depend. I more meant the blanket insurance ban is a myth!
Thanks for your condolences. It's just a lot going on in my head right now😢 xx

paintfairy · 03/01/2022 21:50

@blackcurrantqueen a slide 🤣 I'm sorry about your grandma. 😔
@Sunbird24 I think if they tried to give me paracetamol after a c-section I'd be asking if they were taking the piss! 🤣
@DKDK123 cabbage leaves? 🤔 What? And yeah, that doesn't sound like a good experience at all!
@Juno231 7pm?! What!? 🙈 And I've had cold spells since the beginning.
@Minster2012 🤢 I don't think I want to have to deal with that! 😫

Lexber · 03/01/2022 22:31

Struggling to keep up but sorry @blackcurrantqueen about your grandma ((((hugs))))
And snap @bez91 covid positive here too 😩 pretty much slept through since NYD had my test yesterday - eldest negative still but I'm
Positive. Not that we are surprised as I've been I'll since late NYE.

Youngest is testing neg on day 6, so if neg tomorrow she is free Wednesday.

Oh ended up in hospital this afternoon - I ended up sat in my car (awaiting my PCR result but allowed as long as I didn't leave the car as per the dr on 111) outside sheffield northern general hospital which is a 40 min drive away for 5hrs, not long since back.
He's been really poorly his BP sky high 176/123, blood sugars high and erratic, ketones also (very bad for type 1) and heart rate high also.. he was nearly kept in but obviously the minute I got home (half an hour ago) they decided he could go home with medication for an eye infection, chest infection, bp and other stuff as long as he sees his dr tomorrow! Basically post covid viral infection and his low immune system meant his body was starting to give up and couldn't cope! Had he not been seen today we could have been looking at DKA or even a heart attack 😬 so my covid is feck all compared to that!! Talk about scary, especially not being allowed with him or to even leave my car for over 6hours! My back is killing!!

Any way sob story over.. need to ring drs tomorrow as does @bez91 to advise of covid and see what they say. I'm already deemed high risk as twins so on asprin daily so not sure if they will put me on blood thinners early - I know I have to have the injections from 28 weeks.

Minster2012 · 04/01/2022 07:53

Morning ladies

@Juno231 when I was pregnant before I felt freezing so it's def a pregnancy thing too, good luck with both work and the scan later 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Sunbird24 no we just wiped him a lot cos he loves a shower & he wouldn've been in there for ages & it was already gone bed time

@paintfairy errrr there's a lot of that to come 😂

Oh @Lexber all of that sounds awful I'm sorry, you def need to look after yourself & the twins so call the doctors

@Juno231 hand hold for your long wait before the scan today. Mine is also at 7pm next week, I think scans that late are just cruel, haven't they heard of scanxiety! Can't wait to hear how your little bubs is doing.

@minster2012 the joys of kids! 💩 I had to do a pissy bed change at 4am but glad it was only wee and nothing compared to the sounds of your literal shitshow 😂

@blackcurrantqueen it really will be such a mixed bag of emotions for you right now. Give yourself time to grieve for your granny and then you can look forwards to having to your little bundle in your arms to help cheer everyone up a bit again, tho it will be bittersweet that your granny didn't get to meet them 😢 But babies always help to bring joy back to a family after a loss 💕

@paintfairy when you want to stop breast feeding or if your breasts become too engorged you put cabbage leaves in your bra and it helps to start dry up your milk supply. (Only my supply never came in enough to need any help drying up hence why I didn't need cabbage leaves)

@lexber you're family's really going through a time of it right now! If he's all sorted with his meds you need to rest up and start focusing on you and the babies for a bit, you've had a lot of worry and running about to do lately.

@clolo I get that when baby's turning if they're pressing against the top of my womb as they do it. Didn't know what it was at first with DS till he got a bit bigger and I could identify it as him turning when I also felt hands and feet poke in other bits, but have had it a few times with this one too which I've just assumed is her turning too, maybe not but that's what I put it down to 🤷‍♀️

paintfairy · 04/01/2022 08:43

@Minster2012 I actually read it out the DH, who laughed. Which is funny because no way would he deal well with that either! 🤣 God.
@DKDK123 that's even more random. I thought you were going to say you had to eat them! Going to work with cabbage leaves in your bra. A whole new level. 🤣
@clolo I have no clue but my first tonight was also- was the baby just moving and pushing on something?
@Lexber I'm sorry about DH. Flipping heck, that all sounds really stressful. I hope now he's on medication everything will settle down. Fingers crossed.
@Juno231 I assume it's that late because it's after work? Impatient over here you know! 🤣

I've just had a 50 minute lesson in contraception. I actually think I've changed my mind! I think i might have mentioned them in the past but my neighbours! Ffs. Screaming, shouting, carrying on, coughing from the screaming, but still more of it. Maybe they didn't want to go to school? But seriously........ The mother joins in and is equally as bad. Never heard anything like it. Kids are twats and my brother was horrendous. But I still don't remember it being like that. Cancel it all! 🤣

larrythelizard · 04/01/2022 08:59

Good luck later @Juno231.

Creasing at your DS @Minster2012 - at least he tried?!

Gosh @Lexber that all sounds full on, are you getting support from family and friends?

I also presume baby moving @clolo - when's your next midwife appt?

Back to real life today, not sure I'm up for this! Wonder if eating more will help with the constant massive nausea but unsure what, will take myself off to Tesco at lunch and pick up a variety of things in the hope I can stomach one of them. One of my friends recommended lucozade so may try that!

@clolo apparently Braxton Hicks can start as early as 16 weeks so it sounds reasonable!

@Minster2012 man alive how did he manage to spread the poo around quite that much?? Imagine if you had nausea whilst dealing with this 😆

@Lexber that sounds mental! Hope he recovers quickly and nothing else happens!

@paintfairy yeah 7pm so it's after work for both of us and specifically so that OH can attend.

Kate105 · 04/01/2022 09:33

I thought your story was hilarious @Minster2012 until I remembered about TSD and realised that will be me soon enough 😂 mine will probably smear his shit on the walls though like a deranged serial killer

I had oramorph in hospital @Sunbird24 and I could've had tramadol as well if they're any good for you?!

Well TSD went back to baby jail (AKA the swaddle) last night because he was up every 20 minutes after we put him to bed. That probably had more to do with the noise from downstairs because we had friends over for tea and his serious FOMO, but it was not the hill I was prepared to die on last night. Not a peep out of him once his straight jacket was in situ the psycho

DKDK123 · 04/01/2022 09:43

@paintfairy I don't think you need to keep them in all day think it's only about half hour at a time or something like that so no need to panic about random cabbage leaves falling out at work 😂 Too late to think about turning back now, buckle up you're in for the ride. I must admit as much as I thought I'd be a calm gentle parent, I definitely have lost my shit with DS more than once on the morning run trying to get him to eat breakfast, get washed dressed, teeth brushed and out the door by a certain time for work, it's a full time job in itself with an uncompliant toddler and some times I have found myself shouting like a crazy lady before 7am 🙈

Ah, @Juno231 didn't even think about the fact you may have picked a later scan due to work. Hopefully that makes the day pass quicker for you then if you're kept busy. It was the NHS that gave me a 7pm scan time and I was so annoyed at the thought of having to wait anxiously all day for it (I do have work too that day but know I won't be able to focus!)

@kate105 glad to hear the straight jacket worked last night in the end 😂

DKDK123 · 04/01/2022 12:53

DH is being a knob, he's sulking because I pulled him up for being too harsh on DS and forgetting he's only 4. He's taken the proper hump and now we have a frosty 3 hour drive to do together in silence (actually in fake silence with him throwing in a large huffing noise every now and then which passes me off more than just normal silence which would be bliss) ❄❄❄ men are harder work than children at times, at least kids are just acting their age 🤦‍♀️ Rant over 🤣

kaylsd · 04/01/2022 13:13

I’ve just cancelled our IVF appointments today and our case manager for it all was so lovely about it and was over the moon with our spontaneous pregnancy, I just don’t know how to feel about it 😕 trying to sort out my booking appointment too, on phone for 50 mins to my GP to get given a generic number for community midwife’s for them to say no your practice has its own associated midwife you need to speak to, to then ring back my GP for another 20 mins to get told to ring back tomorrow 🙃

@sunbird24 there are various pain relief routes you’ll be offered to go down with your allergies I’m sure they’ll do what they can with to make you comfortable the best you can be 😘
@juno231 good luck with your scan today :)
@minster2012 sounds a right shit storm what you had to deal with, excuse the pun, it sounds like one of those moments where you could have chucked your DS in the garden and hose him down 🤣 bless him! My DH gags at dog poo picking up, cannot wait for him to be around mini human poo that isn’t his own 🙃
@blackcurrantqueen I’m sorry to hear about your grandma sending lots of hugs to you xxx
@lexber I’m so sorry to hear about the rough time your having at the moment, it sounds awful for you all, try and look after yourself the best you can with it all 🥺❤️
@larrythelizard my friend swore by the lucosade sport when she had bad nausea/sickness, hopefully it passes soon for you :)
@DKDK123 I bet the huffing noises is just to highlight the tantrum feelings to you even more, sometimes silence is bliss than the noises 🤣 hope he snaps out of it soon, if he’s anything like my DH it may be a little while longer 🤣🙈

paintfairy · 04/01/2022 13:34

@DKDK123 huffing really pisses me off too! 🤣

Juno231 · 04/01/2022 16:01

@DKDK123 ah sulking DH can suck it!

@kaylsd if all goes well tonight then I'll join you in cancelling IVF tomorrow. Even if it still goes tits up I imagine I'm at the stage now where I can't hide it from them anyway as it would take a while for my HCG levels to come back down and I wouldn't have any plausible excuses to delay it.

Just double checked my scan details and it's an abdominal one so I guess I need to fill that bladder before I head out!

In our team meeting today my boss was talking about wanting to take parental leave from August and how we'll probably just need a junior temp as I can step in... This is why I think I need to tell him asap after the 12 week scan as there's only three of us in total and he needs to plan for not just my cover but his own! So awkward and I do feel guilty...

Crazydoglady123 · 04/01/2022 16:03

@blackcurrantqueen sorry to hear about your nan!

@Minster2012 congrats on the scan! Another hurdle done! And DS...I nearly just wet myself laughing 😂

Sorry to hear about your OH @Lexber and crap about covid.

@paintfairy your neighbours 🤣

@larrythelizard hope the nausea has eased?

@DKDK123 men are definitely harder work than children! Did he survive the journey?

@kaylsd don't you just love doctors!

37+5 today and thought something was going to happen last night but nope I'm still pregnant! Had my consultant appointment today and he won't sign me off to give birth at my midwife unit where my midwife and all my appointments are yet until I have a third growth scan within the next week as apparently the last scan there was a drop in growth (literally minuscule) 😒 Also my GBS swab STILL isn't back 8 days on. I have been told though if I write in my birth plan that basically I acknowledge I'm recommended going to to the main hospital but I choose to accept the risks I can still choose to go the midwife unit instead. Feeling really stressed about the covid cases and DS going back to school. I felt so strongly about not having the vaccination but now I'm thinking I was stupid...aghhh I don't know what to do for the best 🤯
