As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@2020mission please don't ever feel guilty - a fed baby is all that matters be it breast, expressed or formula. You are an amazing mum, the fact you care shows that! Xxx

paintfairy · 15/01/2022 12:03

@2020mission oh my days! 🤦‍♀️ Men! 🤬 And I think you use a nappy liner in reusable nappies don't you? I like the environmental idea but I'm not sure I could deal with it. But your situation seems even worse. 🤣 How old are you? For stretch comparison. 🤭
@Minster2012 see, I have thought about this too. Mainly because I'm old and less stretchy. 🤣 But my sex life will never be the same again, and since I only found i liked it in 2018 (after coming off the pill) I feel I've not really had my share. 😭 Most the people I know with kids actually seem to have had c sections. But the one that didn't, I remember her after. She was freaking out and said it was a cave. Even went back to the drs/midwife about it. They were expecting far worse from her description apparently. 🤣 But I think it eventually went back to being reasonable, just took time. I don't want a c section scar but neither do I want a cave. So the question is- how is the baby actually getting out? 😆

2020mission · 15/01/2022 12:28

@paintfairy I'm 33, 34 in March. I was also expecting a long birth with it being my first and not being that young but I went from 4cm at midnight to him being here at 5.24am so it moved fairly quickly! The real test will be when we DTD again I guess 😆

@Lexber thank you! I've just been under the impression it was simple enough to breast feed. I knew it would take up a lot of time and be a bit sore at times but didn't consider supply issues and not knowing how much they take in. Just trying to remind myself he's getting some breast milk so it's better than nothing! Hopefully he'll improve at the next weigh in 🤞

bez91 · 15/01/2022 12:36

@paintfairy ah ok yes that would make sense in the wiping area 😂 deffo Matalan on the bras. I got a pack of 3 non underwired ones for a good price

@kaylsd good luck with the journey, hope you don't have to stop too many times 🙈

Must be something in the local air @Lexber with the fanny daggers 😂 also having random shooting nipple pains

@2020mission oh god, the no nappy 😂 I'd have definitely been making DH clear that sh*t show up. Maybe sleep deprived but I'm sure not as much as you! Keep going mama, boob or no boob you're doing an awesome job!

@Minster2012 I must admit, mine doesn't look the same after childbirth. I had an episiotomy and one of my stitches came out and they wouldn't re-stitch it BUT it's certainly not a cave 😆

larrythelizard · 15/01/2022 12:57

Can you measure at home and order some online @paintfairy? That would be my preference!

Oh how annoying @Lexber, sounds a plan to get one when they're bigger

Freezing fog here too @kaylsd - mainly a day for inside I think!

@Minster2012 you have to remember that people only talk about the bad stuff. My friend did suffer with some problems with (wee) incontience but did physio and her homework and fixed it. C-Section is nothing to be ashamed of (don't know if that's what you meant)

😂😂😂 @2020mission that's impressive sleep deprivation stuff from your DH! My milk never came in really after a relatively traumatic delivery (turns out my mum also couldn't breastfeed, no idea if that's connected or not!), the local HVs made me feel awful but there was a local breastfeeding support group who were amazing and pretty much let me give myself permission to bottle feed (to be fair the first time I went DS was 5 days old and both my nipples were bleeding and we were all very unhappy). So I would urge you to find a support group to go talk to

Again @paintfairy people only talk about the bad stuff so there are millions of women out there who gave birth vaginally who's vaginas are fine!

DS is a little shit today and knows best (how many eggs to put in the cake we were baking, which bag the recycling goes in, and got really cross with me for not using a broom to clean the windows) which is hard work but DH is an absolute gem - he went out and got me non mint toothpaste unprompted!

Vil10 · 15/01/2022 14:01

@DKDK123 that's what my friend said🙄 I'll have to tell my lash lady before my next app and ask if she can either do them when I'm led on my side or lift the bed so I'm at an angle! I feel much better today Thankyou!!

@Minster2012 hahaha that's what my mum said and she was also well happy at the thought of having the baby whilst we were away! It is weird isn't it! I'm really comfortable sleeping on my front but I know I won't be able to get away with that in the coming months!

@bez91 I think it's just a case of being prepared and taking the right precautions isn't it, and it'll be a nice family holiday, also might be celebrating the babies 1st birthday out there depending!! Your friend definitely had the right idea there😂 exciting diy by the sounds of it!!

@Lexber those little converse! So cute!!

@blackcurrantqueen enjoy relaxing this weekend!!

@paintfairy glad the scan was good and everything went well!!

@kaylsd hahaha she did do a good job, not sure how long I can keep it up for though! You'll definitely have to make some pit stops!! Even before being pregnant I couldn't cope with long drives or walks, the amount of wild weeing I've had to do over the years! Exciting on the booking appointment as well! Keep us updated!

@Minster2012 oh dear lord, my vagina just cringed

@2020mission I definitely think that's something my OH would do, but he keeps insisting he'll be really "good and alert" in the night, he used to do standby and call outs at work so he could be called out any time of the night, his phone was only on silent and he always woke up by the 3rd buzz so he's a really light sleeper, and could get up and drive to work and do a big job and it being the middle of the night wouldn't affect him, so maybe he's right in some sense🤔 like others have said, as long as baby is being fed whether that be breast or bottle, it doesn't matter at all!! You're doing amazing, keep going❤️

@larrythelizard ahhh a fun day for you today then!! But well done to DH, brownie points for that!!

OH took me to his favourite fruit and veg shop this morning for a super green smoothie, celery, broccoli, spinach, apple, pomegranate and carrot, he said they were amazing and lots of nutrients for baby, so I agreed to having one, worst mistake ever!! The after taste was awful, and not long before in the car on the way there I'd wretched 3 times, I tried to stomach as much as possible because of the amount of nutrients in it but I only managed half and had to give the rest to OH🤢
A day of packing up more stuff and sorting through things today for us, the man who's buying our house, his solicitor keeps coming to us for more questions still even though we were told we'd be completed before Christmas, now it's not looking likely until end of Jan, which is obviously better for us but it's just dragging now! Hopefully we get to see this house next weekend and it'll be right🤞🏼 have a lovely weekend everyone❤️

Lexber · 15/01/2022 14:24

@2020mission anything is amazing, and people don't tell you how hard it can be. I managed 3 days with both my girls, there was no support back then and the eldest (14) I hated it- sat crying when feeding at the thought of doing it 4 hours later. I tried again with my younger daughter (11) and she fed ok but was on/off all the time and I got myself so worked up and anxious at if she was feeding enough (I had no idea about it still and no support) that I was making myself ill so went onto formula and everyone was happier.
But even after that I'm older and wiser now and will TRY to feed the twins myself- I must be a gluten for punishment 🤣 but I'm in the mindset now if I do brilliant, if I don't brilliant as long as they're fed, but I want to atleast try again as every baby is different and the support out there now is much better.

Lexber · 15/01/2022 14:33

Belly button @paintfairy 🤣🤣🤣
I don't think it makes that much difference as it stretches then goes back- think of it this way, it stretches to accommodate various size 🍆 and goes back...
my OH said he wouldn't have been able to tell I had 2 kids out mine 🤣 he's a keeper..

Just been Tesco @bez91 and had to stop myself grabbing my fanny 🤣🤣🤣 I've had itchy nipples 🤦🏽‍♀️ and fidgety babies!!

After stitching me front to back with my big headed eldest they didn't even bother stitching after youngest and I healed well. Our bodies are amazing!
It's been a hard decision @larrythelizard but we need a bigger car too.. so we are going to sell the van, sell oh sporty car (men haha) and sell my family car and pool for a decent 7 seater family car. Oh has a work van so we don't need 2 cars really and it will def free space up outside 🤣

Minster2012 · 15/01/2022 16:12

My fanny just cringed 😬 ha ha what a Fantastic line @Vil10

And let's hope they are only saying the bad stuff, I did say to DH, you should be pleased I'm not making more vag more roomy by shoving a huge baby out of it.

@2020mission please don't feel guilty, as the others have said any fed is best. DS was full formula & he's been mistaken for a 5 year old 3 times earlier. At not yet 3.5, he's done very well on formula. Also my friends did the same thing with the no nappy! I need to see if I can find a thread I read the other day for you guys to make you laugh

Im reading vaguely but struggling today so we are trying to chill

Minster2012 · 15/01/2022 16:13

Here we go

Having put the coffee in the fridge last week I feel like this is me even now let alone with a newborn

How broken are you? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4452409-How-broken-are-you

feliznavidad2 · 15/01/2022 16:34

Catching up as have been a bit AWOL.

@2020mission I agree with everyone else, BF is bloody hard work, do whats best for you and Matthew. We didn't get off to the best start breastfeeding and ended up combination feeding as DS wasn't putting on enough weight and it definitely worked out best for us. Although I didn't feel like that when having to sterilise bottles AND still whip a boob out at DS' demands. Hope you're OK, I found the early days knackering.

@paintfairy lovely news on the scan, really pleased for you. :)

@Vil10 that juice sounds v virtuous, not surprised it made you vom, bless ya. Fingers crossed you get to see the lovely house asap!

@larrythelizard must be something in the air as DS is being bloody hardwork today too.

Ooh @Minster2012 wait for the post-birth discussions at baby groups, my jaw used to drop and I was already in the traumatic instrumental (which makes it sound like there was a musical or something going on at the same time) delivery camp. I'm trying to avoid thinking about it this time, saving discussions for with the consultant. Had an episotomy and initially a bit of a destroyed vagina with DS but it's all alright now, does the job. Blush

@kaylsd hope you made it without too many wee's!

We've got colds and coughs in this household but otherwise OK, was v hormonal and tearful yesterday but feeling more myself today. REALLY hungry though.

paintfairy · 15/01/2022 17:43

@bez91 @kaylsd matalan bras purchased! I got some wired and some non wired. I had to try them on though as I had no idea what I needed @larrythelizard - I just know that my poor boobs are not happy being squashed! We did have a peek at the baby clothes, very cute! And start the hell is non mint toothpaste?! 🤮 What flavour is it?
@2020mission your age is reassuring! And I suppose most people think breast feeding is easy as it's the natural thing. But I think very few people actually find that they have zero problems, so I don't think it's unusual at all. So don't feel like that.
@Vil10 🤮 It should pass, but yeah, now is not the time to be healthy. 🤣 Things are now tasting better to me now again though. Thank god.
@feliznavidad2 hope the colds leave soon! Never great when everyone is ill.
@Minster2012 I'll check out the link.

Maternity jeans are annoying me. Either too small or too big and fall down regardless. I am hoping the bump will hold them up later? But being that are stretchy with no button etc they just fall down! 🤦‍♀️
Also - are cramps normal? I've had it since yesterday (before going for my scan). They aren't AF intensity but things definitely feel weird. I also feel my lower back is like it is before AF comes? I've not had anything like this before, only more pains, than cramp feelings? So I dunno if it's normal and I've just not had it so far, or what?

Minster2012 · 15/01/2022 19:13

@paintfairy I didn't wear maternity jeans until 20 weeks, and I get cramps now still, I said to DH the other day I feel like I'm having AF cramps & he was like "bloody hope not"

So I've also been knackered today, just in a headache fog & feeling like I could go to sleep at any moment. So DS fell asleep in the car at lunch time. "Sleep when they sleep eh?" So I pulled outside the house & parked up, & I tried to doze in the car when he slept. Didn't work. Humph 😤

paintfairy · 15/01/2022 19:18

@Minster2012 I can't get in my normal jeans though. So I'm kind of stuck in the middle. I'm glad you said that about cramps, it's making me worry. I said the same to DH and he was like- what?! I wonder if them pressing about yesterday has kind of aggravated things? Fingers crossed its all fine. I have actually slept on the back seat of my car before, and I wasn't even pregnant. 🤣 Tired after work, get to horses and literally no energy. So I just parked in the field and went to sleep. 🤣

Minster2012 · 15/01/2022 20:05

@paintfairy you can get an extender thing for jeans from H&M? Not sure how it works with disguising the flies but might be worth a try, Let me link it. Or a bump band? Otherwise use an elastic band looped through the button to give you extra room on the waist of you can still get them on? Or what about jeggings? I think on the cramping a lot is about what you do during the day, I get more cramping after sitting working for the day

larrythelizard · 16/01/2022 08:43

I just bought a pair in the next size up in the sales @paintfairy which will do me whilst I'm bloaty pre-bump and also afterwards whilst I'm still all bloaty!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 16/01/2022 09:02

@Minster2012 I was using the hair bobble trick. 🤣 But the issue is you can see your flies. I have very few long jumpers either. But I had to do that NYE with my one really long jumper but you could see the bumpy shape through it, that the jeans weren't closed. That band thing might help with that though.
@larrythelizard I remember my friend wearing maternity jeans for about a year after birth as she couldn't bear to go back to standard ones. 🤣 So I'm expecting that. The ordinary jeans I wear to do the horses- mum has some in the next size up, so I've got them for that. Works for now.

Minster2012 · 16/01/2022 09:45

Get long jumpers @paintfairy?! 😆I think you need to expand your wardrobe 😀

larrythelizard · 16/01/2022 10:29

😂😂😂 @Minster2012 (are you feeling better today?)

If anyone else has sore boobs then I highly recommend the M&S sleep bra, so much more comfortable last night!

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 16/01/2022 10:39

Yes thank you @larrythelizard better today. God my mum said about sleeping in bras. Is this necessary? I sleep in a tight vest & do t really want to sleep in a bra too 😬

@blackcurrantqueen one more sleep til meeting your baby girl 👧

Juno231 · 16/01/2022 12:00

@paintfairy I'd combine it with a zip pull/band so the zip doesn't come undone.

@becarefuloutthere how are you feeling about tomorrow? Zen? Worried? Excited? Do you have to do anything to prepare like fast or whatever?

Minsters Sidecar Bumping Along - ttc graduates thread 5
Juno231 · 16/01/2022 12:06

@blackcurrantqueen I meant to tag you 🙈

DKDK123 · 16/01/2022 12:14

@2020mission your OH must have been half asleep while changing.....or rather only half changing him 😂 Typical tho that you were the one caught out to clean the mess, let's hope it was a one off.
As others have said don't beat yourself up about the bf, I was also shocked with DS thinking as it was a natural thing it would just happen and easily, I dont think they make it known enough that that's not always the case!

@paintfairy just ask the stork to bring your baby instead 😂 I hated anything touching my stomach for nearly 2 years after my section as it took that long for the weird numb but not numb feeling to go away so sex wasn't as enjoyable unless it was doggy or a position where absolutely nothing touched my stomach. I know others who got their feeling back within a few months tho so think it's just luck of the draw same as with the cave effect the other way ......time to hunt down that stork, its the only guarentee 😂

@larrythelizard how sweet your OH getting you the toothpaste unprompted 😊

@Minster2012 I hate sleeping in bras too.....infact I hate wearing them full stop. I think as your boobs start leaking bras may be your only option to stop mess so you can wear pads, but my milk didn't play ball last time so I never had leaky boobs to know 🤷‍♀️

Asked my best friend to be the guide/fairy godmother yesterday, she was well touched 🥰 DS wasn't happy tho, he asked what I'd asked her and I said I'd asked if she'd help look after the baby and he was like nope, not happening, that's my job as big brother. Eventually he agreed she could help on the times when he's busy 😂 I don't think anyone's going to get a look in with the baby when he's around.

paintfairy · 16/01/2022 12:17

@Juno231 🤣 There ain't no way the zip is getting up there! 🙈
@Minster2012 I don't even own a wardrobe right now. 🤣 I'm fed up of living with stuff everywhere though. But I've never been a clothes person. Horse people can't afford clothes. I do have a whole wardrobe (spare room) full of horse show clothes and riding clothes though. 🤣
@blackcurrantqueen aarrrghhh. Excited?

blackcurrantqueen · 16/01/2022 12:18

@Juno231 feeling really sick about it today!!
Yeah so no food after 10pm and got to take a double dose of anti acid tablets at 10 and then at 6am!
Just want it all over and done with now to be honest, just need her here safely!!
Until we are out of that hospital I don't think I'll really believe - but I also think my anxiety from last time is playing a huge part right now!

@Crazydoglady123 how are you doing! Any signs of baby girl?? 💕
