As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@lexber DS was a 5lb 2 baby, same size as a sheet of A4 paper to get your head round the rough size if the twins are that small. Asda do a good budget range of premie/tiny baby clothes (at least they did, I've not looked into it lately). Obviously you don't want to buy too much that size as they do grow but as they're not too expensive from there it's safe to stock up on a few bits just incase.
Scary about landing in hospital but glad to hear all is fine with babies and you're on the road to feeling better (albeit a very slow road).

@whatwonder of course you're not being unreasonable, you're entitled to your feelings, he's probably just excited at the thought of showing off his baby to his family but it was a bit thoughtless not checking with you first if you'd feel up to it. If they're a supportive family for me personally I'd jump at the chance but I'd be making it clear I'm there to rest. So the rest of the family can help take care of baby, prepare your meals etc and you make the most of a few days relaxing. Especially if DH has only had 2 weeks paternity you may be relieved to have a few days help after 3 weeks solo! But if they're the type of family that are hard work or would expect you to be joining in with everything I'd probably give it a miss. Or if you don't want to commit to it you can see if they'll compromise with somewhere not too far away that you could join them during the day and go back home afterwards and if you're feeling up to it when the time comes you and DH could see if you could book somewhere nearby to stay last minute so you can join them each day.
We've booked a family break (just UK) for when I'll potentially be 5 weeks post section, the downside is I won't be able to go swimming with DS but other than that I'm looking forwards to DH being off work again after he goes back to work, so I won't have sole responsibility for looking after baby during the day. I will be indulging in all the naps I can get during that time away 😂

@Minster2012 that's a bit rubbish telling you not to pee just incase. I suppose in a way we're lucky, we're told upfront to bring a urine sample to every midwife appointment so at least we don't need to sit with a fully bladder unless it's a scan!

I feel like being so unproductive today despite the mountain of tasks I have to get through 😴 Currently curled up on the sofa with DH watching cartoons, I've not even dressed DH yet, times like this I could murder a red bull to kick start me! (I know technically I could have one but I don't like the thought of it passing to baby, she's wriggly enough as it is 🤣)

Minster2012 · 13/01/2022 15:00

I think your hippo 🦛 holiday sounds delightful @larrythelizard! And yes definitely thinking of abroad @paintfairy as it's easier to go abroad with a younger baby

@larrythelizard try the grape trick but you kinda have to get them to not chew 😜

@Lexber I definitely think staying home from that time is the right thing, hibernation time looking after those babies

@paintfairy define feeling human when the baby arrives!! 🤪it's amazing what you can run on energy & sleep wise

@Juno231 decent point there on the immune system

@Vil10 def not one you need to worry about yet, and though it's hot yes & maybe not ideal babies are in hot countries too so they cope

@DKDK123 wait, hold on you are laid with DH watching cartoons & haven't got him dressed yet? Hopefully you mean DS 🤪I've been pretty productive so I feel quite positive today

Minster2012 · 13/01/2022 15:22

Just seen your Insta story @Crazydoglady123 are you ok? Def not ideal covid at 39 weeks, stay inside little girl keep cooking a bit

Crazydoglady123 · 13/01/2022 16:20

@Minster2012 hey! Sorry it's all been a bit of a nightmare my end. DS tested positive last Thursday after school and thankfully I hadn't been near him since the Wednesday morning and hadn't that evening as OH had picked him up from school so he went to isolate at his dads. I then decided to isolate away from the OH as he'd been in contact with him so suspected he'd come down with it and the next morning (Friday) he did so he was confined to our bedroom and we was so strict wearing masks etc when he came out to use the toilet. I slept in another room and all doors etc was kept shut and I used the downstairs toilet except for having a bath/shower but I cleaned the bathroom first and always had the bathroom window open. Every bloody day I was testing negative but had a really bad headache but put it down to the stress of going into labour with the OH isolating as positive. Then yesterday morning I woke up and just felt like I was fighting something. I ached loads and my gland in my armpit was swollen and sore so I did a LFT and decided to just book a PCR as I thought I just needed to rule it out in case I had something else going on. LFT after 30 mins was negative but when I looked half hour after had a faint line. I know they say to disregard them but I've got loads from hours before which have never changed. My friend then told me about how they reckon it's better to swab the tonsils too on the nose only LFT so I did that and got a strong positive. Anyhow, I'm not too bad really! My midwife said to date the symptoms starting as Sunday as she said the headache would have been the start. Our trust doesn't do the blood thinner injections and she's not concerned at all. Baby is active as ever and strong as ever (my poor ribs!). I feel so much less stressed now as if labour happens now it just means the main hospital until I'm out of isolation and my OH is still allowed to be with me and my midwife has given me her personal number to call her as she'll try and get over for the birth there too. I can test Sat & Sun and if clear come out of isolation Monday. Like I say, the worst symptoms I have is the body aches and headache but generally I feel fine!

Kate105 · 13/01/2022 16:38

Oh heck @Crazydoglady123 nightmare! Hope you're ok.

I will buy all of the baby sedative you ladies make, name your price 😂 up again 3-4:30am last night and I think I might have died? Ended up sleeping on the sofa with TSD strapped to me in the carrier after wandering round the house in the dark for approx 139275957385 years to get him back to sleep...

Haiyaa · 13/01/2022 16:47

Just trying to skim and catch up, hope everyone is ok?

@feliznavidad2 great news on the NIPT!

@Minster2012 I think movements (and side sleeping) becomes more important from 28 weeks and before that can be pretty erratic. I think mums also feel less/don’t really recognise movements as much the first time around as they are so slight and infrequent. I found myself wondering about movements quite a lot but noticed some of it was because I was absolutely manic and not really paying attention due to being so busy! Glad the Doppler went well!

Wow @blackcurrantqueen it’s all happening now! Hope it all goes well for you, enjoy these last few days before everything is upside down with a newborn!

@whatwonder, I think it’s one of those ones where it is difficult to say what to do until you get there. I had an ELCS, straightforward recovery but issues with DD and was maid of Honour at my best friend’s wedding when DD was 6 weeks. About two hours away involving two nights in a hotel and it wasn’t too bad, but that is just one person. I think you need to be comfortable with it, could the family not stay somewhere close to you instead so you can meet them for days out/meals but still have the option to stay home/opt out of activities?

That sounds horrific @Lexber, I hope you are well on your way to recovery!

I can’t remember who asked about anti-d? I’m negative, DD was negative so opted for the bloods and typically this one is positive so I had to have the bloody jabs anyway! Not too bad, nowhere near as bad as the steroids. 28 weeks, post partum and also if there is any trauma to your bump during pregnancy you will need another.

Trying to drag my ass through my last week of work but am so done!

I don’t think non wriggly babies at 12 week scans are too much to worry about, they sleep a lot. This one was ever so still at 12 and 20 weeks then went to punching sonographer equipment and having raves to the point I have to try and contort myself so it isn’t too uncomfortable 😂

Haiyaa · 13/01/2022 16:55

Also, was getting DD’s newborn clothes out ready for this one (neutral, we don’t know what we’re having), and I was absolutely balling my eyes out thinking of her as a baby and the new one being so close to arrival - anyone else had this? Been so tearful these last few weeks, fucking hormones! I’m selling up now just thinking about it again!

Minster2012 · 13/01/2022 18:04

@Crazydoglady123 oh I'm so pleased it doesn't mess you around too much then & that you feel not too bad. God damn timing honestly but it's really good they are looking after you so we'll. fingers crossed the lack of symptoms continues

@Kate105 there are many parents who have been spotted driving aimlessly round at night to get their kids back to sleep 😴, I'll put you down for the trial lot

@Haiyaa when's your due date again? But one more week of work that's good 😊I'm rhesus neg but not too concerned, it's just another needle 🤣I'm so bored of fragmin injections. Thank you for the movements reassurance, weirdly today I think I may have actually had a lot, it can't alllll be wind surely? But there's definite popping there. Plus I we'll update looking at DS's and I'm no where near your stage so def hormonal thing

I'm waiting for a delicious smelling recipe @blackcurrantqueen recommended, we are having it with wraps. But with DH in agony over an infection in a tooth he's having work done on and munching ice cubes I think maybe it will only be me enjoying it. Also contemplating adding some gherkins!

paintfairy · 13/01/2022 18:52

@Juno231 @whatwonder aren't you also not meant to have a newborn in a car seat for more than 40 minutes? I'm sure i read that.
@Crazydoglady123 hopefully it'll be gone by birth. But if not then it doesn't sound a massive issue if DH can come in! Some hospitals weren't allowing that, so if he's allowed anyway then it doesn't really matter. Fingers crossed it passes quickly.
@Haiyaa yeah it was me that asked about the d-negative. I suppose if I have the blood test then I'll avoid the injections. But my slight concern is it'll be incorrect. So am I better just having the injections regardless and not bothering with the test. I don't think it's a massive issue, it was just a shock to me as I had no idea! Comes from my mother though apparently. 🙄🤣 Who never thought to say. Thanks for the reassurance that babies can be quiet on the scans.
@Kate105 sounds, erm, fun! 🤣 This is when you wish you could afford a nanny. 😫

Filmed a kick omg @clolo that's mental!!!

@paintfairy yes in theory 40 mins for a car seat but it does go up as time passes & for instance DS's first trip in a car was taking him home from my friend's house which was 1.5hours away, the midwives said to take a couple of stops on the way back. We did, got a Chinese with one! So it's not horrendously bad for a couple of occasions just not the norm as they are squished up a bit. How you feeling for your scan? What time is it?

Haiyaa · 13/01/2022 23:43

@Minster2012 I’m due on the 11th of Feb but will be going in for my section on the 1st so there will be a few bus babies in quick succession! This is my last week so only one more day to go thank goodness! Need the time to get my hospital bag packed before it’s too late and I have to rely on DH to do it 🙈

Hope you feel better soon @Crazydoglady123, how close is D day?

So weird when you can see the kicks isn’t it @clolo? As uncomfortable as it can be I know I will miss it. I’m going to try and get one more video but did get one a few weeks ago.

Minster2012 · 14/01/2022 07:49

Oh god don't rely on DH to do it @Haiyaa! There will be a few bus babies then yeyyyyy! And you are team yellow?

@paintfairy good luck today xx

paintfairy · 14/01/2022 08:49

@Haiyaa definitely don't let DH do it! Goodness! 🤣 You'll have absolutely nothing you need. Not that I have a clue either. Not long now at all. Exciting times!
@Minster2012 thanks, it's not until 3.30. I'm anxious about it even though I'm trying not to think about it. I keep having dreams something is wrong too, so clearly it's weighing on my mind.

Crazydoglady123 · 14/01/2022 09:22

Thanks @Kate105 @paintfairy

@Haiyaa I kept getting emotional about meeting my baby! As soon as I go into labour I know I'm going to be a blubbering mess with excitement that she's coming! I'm 39+1 today.

@Minster2012 honestly, without starting a vaccine debate I honestly have it so mildly compared to how my OH had it.

larrythelizard · 14/01/2022 09:22

Oh 2023 is ages away @Vil10 I wouldn't worry about it yet!

Yeah agreed @Minster2012 - we last went abroad when DS was 4mo and it was really chilled and relaxed as he couldn't move!

😂😂😂 I also enjoyed the thought of you having to dress your DH @DKDK123

Shiiiit @Crazydoglady123 i hope it's mild and passes quickly and baby girl stays out until you're negative!

It's honestly not forever @Kate105 - he will work it all out and then you'll barely remember this sleepless bit!

I got an order of baby bits for my sister yesterday @Haiyaa and they are super cute and tiny and talking to DH about it and suddenly we were like 'oh shit we'll have one this small this year'...deffo still not sunk in! Whoop for nearly on ML, due date is coming very quickly!

Wow @clolo that is cool!

They constantly poo and need feeding at that age too @paintfairy so you have to stop anyway to get them out!

@paintfairy good luck for today, only 6ish hours now - hope you've got a busy day and that time will fly

Big question of the morning is if @Minster2012 had pickles with the wraps?!

I've been relatively migraine free the last couple of days since it dawned on me I need to eat more protein, still a bit headachey but they feel more tension headache and different. Suspect that I'm not drinking enough but finding it very hard to battle through the nausea. Latest mega aversion is mint which makes teeth brushing erm, interesting!

Spent the time between 2:30 and 4am Googling night nannies. Need to win lottery first. 😭 TSD did the double fuckery last night and decided to wake up literally 2 minutes after I switched the light off to go to bed and cried until 11:30pm. I'm definitely dead.

Kate105 · 14/01/2022 09:30

Thanks @larrythelizard the rational part of me knows this but the dead part of me is too far gone 😂😂😂

On the other hand, it's taken us 763057359 weeks but TSD did sleep with both arms out last night 🥳 now to bath him because I was too dead to do it yesterday and I am a slattern

larrythelizard · 14/01/2022 09:44

@Kate105 😂😂😂...it's mad though isn't it how little sleep you can actually get by on?! At least it's the weekend coming so DH can do a shift and you can have some sleep...?

OP posts:
Minster2012 · 14/01/2022 10:08

@Kate105 that is a win! Oh just give him a gypsy wash & he'll be fine, we only bathed DS every 3 days cos of his eczema...though he is a bit feral now so wonder if it's linked? 🤔

@larrythelizard I actually didn't add in pickles, found it delicious enough on its own! Glad the migraines are easing a bit, hopefully it's just a phase for you. DS has strawberry toothpaste so maybe you could find some of that, which btw I really wish I hadn't got for him cos now the little shit refuses mint toothpaste & my local supermarket doesn't stock the strawberry anymore. So I've made a rod for my own back.

Minster2012 · 14/01/2022 10:09

@Crazydoglady123 that's great then, hoping it continues mild whilst you are isolating & lil girl stays out for now 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@paintfairy it wil all be great 😊

blackcurrantqueen · 14/01/2022 10:26

@Crazydoglady123 glad you are still feeling ok, and hoping for negative LFT by the time you need them 💕

@Kate105 I think you need a podcast because honestly the way you write about TSD makes me howl 😂

@larrythelizard I had awful headaches in first tri, though admittedly not migraines! They were hideous. Hopefully yours will settle 🤞🏼 get some of that kids toothpaste 🤢 Better than nothing 😂

Yay for all the bus babies 💕

I've just been for my covid swab in one location, then driven over to the hospital to have my bloods done and the bloody computer system has gone down so I am still sat waiting 😩
But it's far enough away from home there is no point in going home and coming back 😭
Oh AND I've got my Asda shop coming between 12 and 2 which I need 🙄

So much for supposed to be isolating sat in the middle of a busy clinic 😂

larrythelizard · 14/01/2022 10:28

😂 yeah that doesn't really make sense @blackcurrantqueen - you know the minute you went outside or something the computers would work and then you'd miss your appt as they couldn't find you!

I’m all done, out in recovery with a cheese sarnie and a brew. I’m going to leave you guys here now, but thank you so much for all the love and support, hopefully I’ll be back again at some point with a better outcome.
One last contribution for the baby name suggestions….
