As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@DKDK123 that's great news!! So happy all went well and baby is dancing around in there!

@Minster2012 how much easier is it to be all on an app!! She said it's only a recent thing that started in October/November time! Also remember when we were saying about the scan on a Saturday and we were like no chance they'll save Saturdays for emergencies, and I got a saturday scan!! I also started stay close last night and it's really good so far!! I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry or maybe like Larry said speak to the midwife and see if you can at least make an appt for the heartbeat!x

feliznavidad2 · 11/01/2022 09:46

NIPT results have come back as all low risk and it's a...

Girl!

larrythelizard · 11/01/2022 09:56

Yay on the low risk @feliznavidad2 and WHOOP on the girl!!! Is it a DS you have atm? X

Vil10 · 11/01/2022 09:57

@feliznavidad2 aww amazing that all is low risk and a baby girl💗💗

feliznavidad2 · 11/01/2022 10:00

Yes, we told him and he's so chuffed, tells me he's going to make sure he's polite and sort out his toys so it has 'a bit of room' aww 🥰

larrythelizard · 11/01/2022 10:08

Aww gorgeous @feliznavidad2 😍

@paintfairy yeah it was frustrating throughout 😂 so his others ones are safe and the stranger, both better than this one imo.
I went through phases, tomboy, girlie etc, think I'm more girlie now tbh but wouldn't force that on my daughter, I say that now but I bet it won't take me long to get her in a princess dress 😆
@Minster2012 thanks hun. Ooh I knew we had those two this month, think we have one other bus lady for Jan too right and then is it me next?! Hope your period type pains have eased now? Movements aren't regular for a good few more weeks yet. Can you speak to your midwife to put your mind at ease? Google will just worry you further I think!
@Vil10 I will do! Aw thank you 😊
That's ace, glad it's all working out nicely for you hun 😘
@kaylsd haha the creepiest/scariest couple in the world! You wouldn't want to stumble across those two in a dark alley would you 😂 (or anywhere actually)! Yeah I've seen safe, loved it! U seen the stranger? That's good too!
@DKDK123 congratulations 🎉 so so happy for you 🥲
@feliznavidad2 great news! So pleased for you! Did you have a preference for girl? Aw how cute is your ds!! X

Minster2012 · 11/01/2022 11:07

I think I might try Speak to the midwife tomorrow if I can't encourage movements with orange juice I've been told so will try that later (at playgroup currently so not ideal!) it's the fact I literally felt one lot then nothing. I know they won't be regular but that's all I've felt, the one lot 😞I'm planning on booking another private scan for around 24 weeks @larrythelizard but that's still AGES!

@feliznavidad2 that's AWESOME news fantastic!! And sooner than they said right?!

@becarefuloutthere I'm afraid I don't know who else there is, and is anyone feb?

paintfairy · 11/01/2022 11:19

@Kate105 I did wonder if TSD had a proper name. 🤣 Bless him!
@Vil10 whilst many people aren't bothered getting married these days (surname is something that everyone will have a different view, but ultimately it doesn't really matter) but I personally wouldn't set up a home and have kids without getting married. You are leaving yourself wide open to a whole range of issues later and whilst we'd all love to think our men aren't the type to piss off (both IRL and online, how many times have we heard that?) you are not covering yourself (and more importantly your children) if you aren't married. There's a billion past posts on MN about it. And it's always the 'nice' ones, funnily enough. So absolutely no way would I put myself in that position and he knew that from the beginning. 🤣
@kaylsd oh no! What a horrible dream!
@DKDK123 absolutely brilliant news! I'm really pleased for you. It will be real when you have a baby in your arms! 🤣 But I know exactly what you mean. Daring to believe. My friend had a low lying placenta too with hers. But it was all fine, she just had to finish work a bit earlier and take it easy. Listen to your body.
@becarefuloutthere ah safe! Yes, that's the gated one. 😆 There are some foreign ones on netflix too but I just struggle to watch them. This one was ok but I'm still having nightmares! 🤦‍♀️ I will at least wear dresses to go out these days but didn't in my early 20s and before! I've never been girly. Preferred playing with my brothers toy cars!
@Minster2012 don't most people start feeling things regularly after 25 weeks? So I don't think what you are encountering is abnormal? Everything is always just a constant worry though!
@feliznavidad2 woop! 🥳 I'm really pleased your tests are ok. Is everyone on here having girls? 🤔🤣

I'm starting to worry about my 12 week tests now and what if they aren't ok. I (mistakenly, don't do it!) read through the antenatal tests section of the forum yesterday, looking for info as opposed to anything, but it's full of doom and gloom and not much stuff is useful. However, I did read one thing that worried me (they were discussing signs that something wasn't right) and that was that the baby wasn't moving much on the scan. When I went for the 10 week one, mine wasn't moving at all. She made me wiggle about and then it did turn over and spin about a bit, kicked at the scan wand thing, but then went back to being just sitting. So now I'm obviously worrying that it wasn't very active! And it's everyone else's active? 🤷‍♀️ Because actually I've no idea......

Kate105 · 11/01/2022 11:40

Both arms tucked away by 9:30 and up at 5:20 this morning 😴😴😴 also squeaky bum time here as MIL and SIL tested positive for Covid after a nice big family get together at the weekend 🤦🏼‍♀️ H and I negative this morning so rushed out to do a big shop just in case 😬

paintfairy · 11/01/2022 11:40

Oh ffs. Had a letter through the post. I'm D-negative. Isn't someone else in here that? @Minster2012 was it you?
It says I can have a blood test to determine what the baby is (if its negative (1 in 3 chance), then do nothing, if its positive then its injections) or you can opt not to have the blood test and just have the anti D injections anyway from 28 weeks? Not sure how many injections this is? 🤷‍♀️ Aaarrrgghhh.

larrythelizard · 11/01/2022 11:58

No idea about anti-D @paintfairy but I wouldn't worry about baby not moving for the scan, they could have been asleep! You're not far off your 12 week scan though are you? So another chance to see baby and chat through with the sonographer?

@Minster2012 better to call them sooner than sit and worry you know...

Whoop watch out TSD you're going to need a new name @Kate105!

Sunbird24 · 11/01/2022 11:58

I’m negative @paintfairy, and my donor is positive, so I’ve had the anti-D injection with every miscarriage - it’s really not that bad! It’s one at 28 weeks and another after delivery.

paintfairy · 11/01/2022 12:03

@Sunbird24 no idea what DH is. You would think they'd just check him? Would seem more sensible. 🙄 I suppose 2 injections isn't awful, if that's all it is. Thanks!

whatwonder · 11/01/2022 12:06

hey everyone, struggling to catch up as it's been very busy back at work.

@feliznavidad2 a girl!! how exciting! and great that the results came back low risk! how far along are you now?

@clolo very cute bump! when did you find out the position of your placenta?

@bez91 happy belated birthday! hope you're feeling better? are you still testing positive?

@kaylsd so scary about the bleed but glad to hear that bub is doing well!

@Minster2012 echoing the others, it's quite usual to not feel much movement, or feel only sporadic movement at this point. I know a few friends who didn't feel anything at all until 24 weeks with their firsts

@DKDK123 glad to hear the scan went well! sorry about the placenta. Is that the same as previa or is low lying something different?

great to get loads of insight into sleep stuff - useful to hear as a first timer. I have to admit I thought you could just put the baby down in your room and leave them alone but that you would sleep in the same room as them at night until they're 6 months?

re: names - we have not started that conversation seriously yet. we've had one discussion and then agreed we'd come back to it some time in the future with our respective shortlists so we'll see how that goes! I'm also quite keen to avoid anything too traditional, but want to make sure it won't be a lifelong struggle for the kid. we're married but I don't have DH's name, so this little one will get a double-barrelled surname, with a hyphen. It might be selfish but I didn't want my name getting dropped.

Oh lovely @DKDK123 I'm so pleased all was well 😊 not great on the placenta but it sounds like you half expected that! With you on the insomnia, I hope you're managing to get back to sleep after?
I'm ok as long as I'm not woken up in the night so DH (his idea) swapped sides with me so when DD wakes he can sort her (she wakes up for random shit like wanting to ask us if crocodiles eat frogs 🙈) It actually benefits him so I'm not tossing and turning all night trying to get back to sleep 😆

Good news @feliznavidad2 🥰

@paintfairy my friend just opted for the injections I believe!

@whatwonder yea still positive 🤦🏼‍♀️ feel fine, tomorrow is official freedom day but I'll still be stuck wfh as none of the care homes i visit will let me in without a negative LFT as I don't work directly for them. Definitely possible to do that if you have a monitor but I think in reality if your bedroom is upstairs you'll have probably climbed Everest up and down stairs 4,700 times so having them close by is useful 😆

bez91 · 11/01/2022 12:40

@Minster2012 understand your concern. I think unless they've become regular and then stopped it's not too much to be concerned about. If you've just felt sporadically but no pattern yet you probably have abs of steel. Worth speaking to your midwife though to put your mind at ease 😊

blackcurrantqueen · 11/01/2022 12:40

@paintfairy I'm o negative and OH is o positive. We don't get offered the option of bloods here it's just standard injection at 28 weeks and then depending on whether baby is positive or negative (they test blood from the cord) decides whether you have a second one once they are born.
It is an immunoglobulin and it's pretty stingy but as with anything it's over and done with pretty quickly!
This baby was never very active at any of the scans and she's certainly moving around lots now!

@feliznavidad2 congratulations 🥰 lovely news!

@Sunbird24 how are you doing lovely? Sorry if I've missed an update .. been thinking of you! Xx

@Minster2012 I totally get the worry, but try and rationalise it, call the midwives if it is really getting to you - not worth the stress 💕💕💕

@Vil10 glad your booking in appt went well, scan date is soo exciting!! 🥰 then it all becomes officially real 😂😬

@kaylsd oh bless you, how scary, I'm glad the EPU have been good and seen you, fingers crossed for no more scares now hey! Naughty baby! Xx

@DKDK123 so glad scans went well; and love the guide mother idea!!

@Juno231 OH and I aren't married but both girls have / will have his surname (as it is it's a bloody ugly name I don't particularly want haha) but we are engaged so I guess it'll become mine at some point 😂

I think baby has a name, mainly because we only have one option we both really like 😂

I had my pre op appt this morning and am now essentially isolating until next Monday, she said that she thought it would be unlikely I would get cancelled so fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Got to go for bloods and covid swabs on Friday and pick up my pack.
Really hoping this experience is the polar opposite of with DD and it's all smooth calm and quick!

Minster2012 · 11/01/2022 12:43

@paintfairy yes I'm also rhesus D, I know I'm a negative blood type from previously & course it's gotta be more awkward! it's not a big deal. I've got my injection at 28 weeks & I'll echo back to you what you've said about the movements, it means nothing to worry about for you!

@whatwonder I don't think it's selfish. My DS has "Bryn" as a middle name, which is welsh for my maiden name, just a little nod to me there. I still will do the "put the baby to bed" and I've found that very contradictory. I'm a person who likes to try get a routine 😂

@Vil10 I do also think that marriage is about security too, so you might as well marry than just change your name by deed poll tbh as it protects you if anything happened

@larrythelizard I will send them a message

Minster2012 · 11/01/2022 12:44

@bez91 I'm so intrigued now. Do 🐊 eat frogs?

@blackcurrantqueen yeeyyyyyyyy last thing done now you hibernate ❤️🤞🏻

larrythelizard · 11/01/2022 12:51

That's exciting @blackcurrantqueen! I'm really interested in an experience of a ELCS so looking forward to hearing your review!

I also like a bit of routine in my life @Minster2012 - I think the real answer is best for baby is whatever works best for the parents really!

@bez91 but do they eat frogs though?! Maybe you should get her an Alexa for her room so she can just ask Alexa instead of you?

OP posts:
bez91 · 11/01/2022 13:03

I can confirm that yes crocodiles do eat frogs @Minster2012 I thought you'd know this and all things reptile @larrythelizard 🙈 but the Alexa is out the question. I've taken the brunt of this sh*t for 2 years now since she could string these sentences together so DHs turn now 🥳

Minster2012 · 11/01/2022 13:21

Phew that's good to know @bez91 though I'm loving the idea of an Alexa for all these pointless questions but I think she'd very quickly go on strike here 😂

whatwonder · 11/01/2022 13:30

@Minster2012 love that his middle name is Bryn, that's so sweet! guess you're looking at Holly Etta this time around? :)

@bez91 well now we can all rest easy knowing this about crocodiles! and I don't know if the sleep sitch would be as big of a deal in our place, our room is approx 7 steps away from the lounge so I think with a monitor we would pretty easily stay on top of things. genuinely interested in what you're meant to do though, have the baby asleep in the same room that you're in and then transfer them into your room when you want to go to bed?

@blackcurrantqueen not too long to wait now! how exciting! and yes fingers crossed for a nice and calm experience for you xx
