Here is my little sweetheart. Baby Leola born at 10.52am weighing 8lb2. Leola living up to her name was born to the Lion King soundtrack and with her curly thick black mane 🦁
Shes been admitted to Baby Care Unit as her blood sugars keep dropping so shes been pit on a drip through her hand with glucose to get them back up. She also has alot of mucus so shes going to have a feeding tube to help her bypass the mucus to get the milk straight to her tum. Shes also making grunting noises which could show a sign of infection so shes having bloods taken too and also antibiotics through her drip.
Its been a roller coaster of a day. So difficult not having baby with me but I know ahes with the best people. In the mean time I'm going to try express as colostrum is supposed to help with babys blood sugars.
Thank you for all your best wishes, hope everyone is doing good Smile

Ahhhhh, congratulations @Curlymam88 she looks absolutely perfect 🥰 It must be strange not having her with you but she is definitely in the best place by the sounds of it and no doubt you'll all be home soon. Great weight too considering she was early!x

@curlymam congratulations hun Leola is absolutely beautiful! Love that she was born to the lion King track 🦁❤ Hope your doing well after your c section and you both recover and will be ready for home soon! xx

Curlymam88 · 03/12/2021 19:10

Thanks everyone 😊 yea its hard going her not being here but I know she's in best place. She got her own nurse 1 on 1 with her. Managed to get a syringe full so thats a good start for her.
@burtle4 I know, the last growth scan i had she was weighing 7lb15 and then a week later she was born 8lb2 so the growth scans I had were pretty accurate Smile I was surprised.

JW2021 · 03/12/2021 19:21

She is sooooo beautiful & a fabulous weight too! Just look at those tiny pouting lips - well done girl xx

JW2021 · 03/12/2021 19:22

Besides she is super special - she was born on my Birthday! 🎉🎂

burtle4 · 03/12/2021 19:35

I'll be interested to see what my boy is measuring at my next growth scan on Monday then as he was also 7lbs 15oz at the 36 week scan! Being induced at 39 weeks but hoping he won't be too huge by then, going by Leola's growth he may be around 9lbs 🙈

burtle4 · 03/12/2021 19:36

Ah, happy birthday @JW2021!

jadey1991 · 03/12/2021 19:36

@Curlymam88 it must be hard hun but like you said she is where she needs to be at the moment. I'm just so happy for you.
@JW2021 happy birthday 🥳

LouLou0505 · 04/12/2021 07:46

@Curlymam88 - I’m late to the party here but congratulations!! She’s beautiful!

I hope your first night went well!

I don’t know about anyone else but thank god I am pregnant because I am so broody it’s unreal every time I see a baby I want to steal them 😂

xTinkerbell · 04/12/2021 08:53

Sorry, had a fully on day yesterday and just catching up now.

Congrats @Curlymam88 she’s absolutely beautiful!

My last day at work was yesterday, now to make some memories with my boy before Christmas and the little one arrives

Decadesbcun · 04/12/2021 19:19

Congratulations @Curlymam88. She’s absolutely beautiful. Sorry to hear that she is in the neonatal unit, but they are absolute angels and little Leola will be so well looked after.

Eeek! Our 1st birth announcement Grin can’t wait to start hearing everyone’s news.

No plans for me to be induced/c-section as it stands so I hope little one doesn’t keep us waiting too long. The midwife said if baby not arrived by Xmas then she will do a sweep between Xmas and new year but I really can’t wait to meet my baby now.

Hope everyone is doing ok and not too uncomfortable. It’s definitely true that the last month of pregnancy feels like 1848 days Grin

cutejeans · 04/12/2021 19:29

Hi everyone, sorry I've been MIA I broke my phone and only just got a replacement!

Wow @Curlymam88 congratulations on your beautiful baby girl, she's absolutely gorgeous! Really hope she's doing okay, she's in the best placeThanksxx

My little one has been causing us some stress this past week! I had a midwife appointment on Monday where his heart was beating at over 200 so went in to triage to get checked and ended up spending the full day on monitoring until he finally calmed down! Today he went the complete opposite and has hardly moved when he's usually so active so went in for monitoring and he's had a couple of dips in his heart!! Going back in for monitoring tomorrow morning and then got a growth scan & consultant appointment on Monday where they may offer me an inductionConfused

Hope everyone else is okay, I've really missed reading all your daily updates so glad to be backGrin xx

jadey1991 · 05/12/2021 09:56

Hi ladies, nice to hear from you all. Hope your all doing well. @Curlymam88 I hope all of well with you and baby girl..

I've been feeling really shitty. My lower back and belly have been hurting. Last night I managed to get some decent sleep. Felt nice good once.

Theawkwardblonde · 05/12/2021 10:32

Very late here but congratulations @Curlymam88!

I'm stressed to bits. Had a growth scan this week due to bump Measuring small again. Told baby's growth has dropped down quite a bit so I'm back at 38 weeks. If weights not picked up I'll be getting induced the next day. Trying hard not to worry but they've put the fear of god in me. I know the scans aren't accurate but really worried. Little one measuring at 5 pounds 13 at 36 weeks.

Curlymam88 · 05/12/2021 12:56

Hi everyone we are still currently in hospital. Theres so much to take in and understand its all been a bit of a blur.
Baby ended up on a high glucose drip which had to go through her belly button to try get her sugars to stay up. Because she was on the glucose she hasn't been having any milk feeds
She had a tube through her nose to get rid of mucus.
And antibiotics to get rid of any infections through an iv in her little hand.
Shes been under the blue light in an incubator for jaundice.
I spoke to the baby doctor this morning and last night they started to introduce milk and will gradually bring down the concentration of glucose and increase the milk. They think that because she was receiving high blood sugars from when she was inside my belly she had higher levels of insulin, when she was born her higher level of insulin was too much for her normal blood suagrs which are the cause of her blood sugars dropping all the time. But they think that her body is levelling out now and coming back to her own normal scale.
Her mucus is now clear.
And her jaundice levels are fine, they tinned the blue light off this morning and will test them again tonight to make sure they don't shoot back up without the light. I finally managed to hold her today and give her milk and got to change her nappy. It was the best feeling in the world finally getting to hold her tidy even though it was a bit daunting with wires and tubes coming from all the places.
But she seems to be getting on the right track to head home. Aslong as her sugars stay up while they keep reducing the glucose we are onto a winner. Smile
Sorry for the long post, I told you all it was alot to take in 😄

lovebeingmum9 · 05/12/2021 16:04

Aw @curlymam I bet that's very daunting and alot of info to process! Hope they get her levels where they should be and in the meantime while leola has got the best care...make sure you look after yourself too!
Hope everyone else is ok now were approaching the final few weeks 🎉 I'm half way through my antibiotics for bronchitis so feeling better 1 min and not so much the next! Our children have got coughs too including our youngest who turned 2 yesterday...still had a lovely birthday but we all spent it at home playing with his new toys! 12 days until my due date and feeling heavy and warn out! 😓 But excited also! 😊

SouthwestSis · 05/12/2021 16:21

Sounds rough @Curlymam88
I am hoping to express before birth so I have some colostrum on standby in case of low blood sugars.
I hope your little one will be starting to enjoy milk feeds!

burtle4 · 05/12/2021 22:10

@Curlymam88 definitely not the start I expect you were hoping for but it sounds like they are doing a really good job of looking after her, and it must have been amazing to finally hold her and do the things you're supposed to do with your newborn. Fingers crossed she keeps going in the right direction and you'll be home with her soon x
