@Positive21 I know what you mean! I'm wishing I booked the scan for this weekend so I could have already had the results. Only a few more days for us x

LS2020 · 26/09/2021 21:27

@Bubbasmama2017 not had any reactions to my early scan but I had to have one as a condition of my IVF so maybe I didn’t feel as sensitive to any comments about it. I am trying to hold out because I do think it’s a bit embarrassing to have 4 scans by 12 weeks, sound like I am crazy. But it’s so annoying to have had it earlier because now I’ve got nothing to do for a few weeks!

@Positive21 I was deffo more anxious than I realised for my scan, think I threw up twice before we went. But honestly when you get there and see them on the screen, it’s like nothing you’ll ever have felt and I totally reset my worry so it will get harder but if you keep doing what works for you, hopefully will stop building too much

Ronnyrambler · 26/09/2021 22:27

I was really anxious and talked it through with my counsellor. Really helped. Did an exercise where I reframed my fears into thoughts about love and wanting to know baby will be ok. Then had 6 week scan (bc there's no way at 41 yo I'm waiting for a 12 week scan) and it was too early. I'm only 5 weeks. Still, I've been a lot calmer since. Going back in a couple of weeks. Panicking less about symptoms.etc. Also decided to limit looking on forums as there's a lot of worrying which can exacerbate my own.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 26/09/2021 22:46

@Positive21, I'm glad you're feeling better! It's such an anxious time and it's normal to want information. My early scan helped me a lot!

@Ronnyrambler, hi! Also 41 here, or as we say in our home, thirty-eleven! Is this your first? This is my first. No way was I waiting until 12 weeks either! We went at 7 weeks and I'll be doing Panorama NIPT testing at 9.5 weeks.

Jojo7979 · 27/09/2021 07:11

Thank you @Bubbasmama2017and @PairOfPears and everyone else feeling anxious, it’s not a nice feeling but glad I’m not alone. We told my parents yesterday which I think has helped a bit, also getting sleep last night has helped.

@Ronnyrambler and @aNewYorkerInLondon I am also 41, this is my second pregnancy though

aNewYorkerInLondon · 27/09/2021 07:55

Hi @Jojo7979! As a cultural study, it'll be interesting to see if you're advised with your second similarly to the advice I'll receive with my first. Back in NYC, starting "late" is super common, but it seems a bit less so here.

I'm glad you got some good sleep. It makes a huge difference. I also think telling a few key people really helps. Kind of like it makes it a tribal effort rather than a solo one? Like having a team. Smile

Jojo7979 · 27/09/2021 08:06

@aNewYorkerInLondon I’m interested to see what my midwife says at my appointment next week. I was 39 when I had my little boy and had midwife-led care. Now I’m over 40 and had an emergency c-section I’m interested to see if I’ll be classed as more high risk.

There are definitely more older mums around where I live now, so I don’t feel like the odd one out! Quite a few of the people I went to school with are grandparents now!

Positive21 · 27/09/2021 09:27

@Bubbasmama2017 how far along are you? It will come round quickly, mine has, I'm just insanely impatient and Ive seen people who aren't as far along as me get them which is why I'm so itchy 😂 Not their fault at all, I'm just jealous 😂

@LS2020 I definitely just need to stop obsessing. It won't change anything, I have a few days to wait and then fingers crossed all will be fine!

@Ronnyrambler im going to look into re framing fears! Thank you, I'd not heard of that before. And yes too much knowledge can be scary, I'm the sort of person who searches for everything because I think I want to know but I'd probably be fine if I hadn't googled anything!

@aNewYorkerInLondon thank you 💕 roll on Friday!

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/09/2021 10:37

@Positive21 I'm 7+4 today

I had a really crap night sleep but just trying to get through the day and almost try and forget about being pregnant for a few days. Does that sound bad? Just hate worrying all the time!

LS2020 · 27/09/2021 11:16

@Positive21 well if it helps after an awful nights sleep I booked another scan for Wednesday as I couldnt wait any longer 🤦‍♀️ I’ll be 8+2 and all my apps updated to say that baby will be wiggling and looks like a proper baby now so I was soo excited to see them again 🥰 plus I’ve stopped my IVF progesterone now I’ve hit 8 weeks and it’s shocked me how much it’s triggered my anxiety even though I know the reason they told me to come off is because I’m producing enough myself!

Positive21 · 27/09/2021 14:15

@Bubbasmama2017 not bad at all, that's how I felt! Not like we are ungrateful at all, but imagine the lack of worry if you found out late and had less time to over think it all 😂

@LS2020 oh bless you! I'm sure everything is ok. I will be looking forward to your update! I think you are two days ahead of me.

Etonmess20 · 27/09/2021 14:36

Just had my scan at my IVF clinic & all was well, baby had grown since Saturday & still has a very strong heartbeat! We've now graduated which feels so odd! They definitely looked more like a baby today too, unsure if that was due to some development or just because the scan was internal rather than external

@LS2020 I'm 8 weeks on Friday & have been told to stop the progesterone then too, I initially hated the pessaries but am now strangely attached to them & it'll feel weird not doing them! Theyve reassured me it'll have no effect but still feels strange to stop doesn't it?

Marden11302 · 27/09/2021 16:18

At what week do you have your first appointment? I was sort of under the impression it would be before 10 weeks so have bloods done, but my first appointment is until I’m over 12 weeks 😬

LS2020 · 27/09/2021 16:51

@Positive21 lovely to have a similar due date buddy ❤️ How are you doing today?

@Etonmess20 how fab you got two! I only got one. But yes a very weird feeling to “graduate”!! They told me to use until the box ran out so I’m weaning myself off, got like 6 left so rather than use up in next 3 days, going to wean myself down to 1 a day for the week to manage my anxiety!

@Marden11302 mine will be at 9+2 but could have had at 8+4 this week but the doctor time wasn’t great for work and didn’t want to be rushing/stressing about. I’m sure they’re supposed to try get you in pre 12 weeks as only some tests can be done before then

Marden11302 · 27/09/2021 16:56

@LS2020 yeah that’s what I thought! I might give them a call

Etonmess20 · 27/09/2021 17:09

@LS2020 in fairness I did pay for the one on Saturday at a private ultrasound place! I'll have loads of pessaries left to be fair as they sent me far too many but think I'll just stop from the overnight one Friday pm & go from there. I get what you mean about the anxiety though, they feel like some sort of security blanket don't they? When in reality they're probably doing bugger all 😂
Looking forward to seeing your scan pic Wednesday, ours definitely looked more like a baby today even than it did on Saturday & I'm only 7+3!

Etonmess20 · 27/09/2021 17:12

@Positive21 hope you're feeling better today lovely

@AMM86 how are you today? Has everything settled down a bit?

Positive21 · 27/09/2021 17:27

@Etonmess20 glad your next scan went well! Always good to hear that people are having a good experience. Definitely feeling better today, hopefully this continues until the scan.

@Marden11302 my first midwife booking appointment is next Friday when I will be 9+3. They did bloods two weeks ago but I had to book that separately.

@LS2020 I'm feeling so much better today. I've distracted myself and tried to refocus my anxiety. I've downloaded 7 new apps for MH/CBT/mindfulness 😂 hopefully they help too!

Thank you all so, so much for the support yesterday, it made a huge difference and I am so grateful.

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/09/2021 18:56

@Marden11302 my midwife appointment is when I'm 8+5 but with my older daughter I had one much later. I'm hoping my dating scan will be early so I can tell my work but not sure when that is booked for yet. they can do that anytime between 10-14 weeks I think?

AMM86 · 27/09/2021 19:17

@Etonmess20 yep! Not really felt anything at all for the last two days!
Hubby had his head in his hands when I started worrying about the lack of symptoms now as well hahaha!

Etonmess20 · 27/09/2021 20:34

@Positive21 I'm really glad you're feeling better, I think with the hormones we're all going to have good days & bad days & we all need an extra hand hold at times ❤️

@AMM86 so glad your worrying symptoms have calmed down too! Hahaha that's so funny, can imagine your DP like FFS you can't please this woman 😂 I'm sure everything was stretching around in there ready for all the growing that's to be done but understandable to feel worried when you don't know what it should feel like (I'm the same!) x

AMM86 · 27/09/2021 20:41

@Etonmess20 thank you for your concern - that does mean a lot ❤️ the tiredness has hit this evening so I’m tucked up in bed already!

@Positive21 I’ve only just really caught up on your posts but I think you’ve been feeling very similar to myself! Keep chatting to us xx

I’m meeting a friend in London on Saturday and she keeps trying to suggest places for cocktails. Normally I love cocktails and would jump at it. Finding it really difficult to try and steer her towards something else!

Etonmess20 · 27/09/2021 20:52

@AMM86 i don't blame you, I need a nap to get me through the day 😴 I find im really grumpy if I don't sleep in the day now 😂

Positive21 · 27/09/2021 21:34

@Etonmess20 Thank you. You're very right! I am just about ready for bed now, today has been a long day but it has definitely been better than yesterday! Just have another 70 mins till I'm home and in my PJ's 😂

@AMM86 thank you so much! You've all been so wonderful.

I had my friend and my brother both ask me about going to Thorpe park this month. I hated having to find an excuse!

Sarah239 · 27/09/2021 21:37

Evening ladies. Today is day... 16? of me being in bed at around 8:30pm 😂 It's like as soon as I found out I was pregnant my energy in the evening just completely disappeared and all I can do is lie down and look at my phone/laptop.

Today has been a milestone day for me. 6w1d and I have a) finally told my IVF clinic I need to cancel my appointment because I am pregnant! That was nice and the receptionist's reaction was lovely. b) registered with the midwife/maternity unit! I think I should have gone via GP normally but my GP surgery is impossible to get through to so I just decided to ring hospital direct as they said you could after 6 weeks!

I have felt a little more myself today which has been really nice. Just taking each day as it comes still. I'm feeling slightly less anxious currently and just counting down days til 7w scan on Sunday! It's mad reading how some of you are in week 8 and 9 already... I feel like I've been pregnant for 2 months already and can't believe how much the time is dragging!

Wishing you all well xx
