Joining you. Due 18 may

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 07:25

Welcome @Hansoo!

@Sarah239, that is a lovely milestone! It feels so real when we share the news and receive lovely, celebratory reactions. Telling my boss was on of those oh-my-goodness-its-real moments for me.

@AMM86, for Saturday, maybe claim Sober October and suggest someplace like tapas, so that you can eat and she can eat and have good cocktails?

As for me, I felt pretty rotten yesterday. I tried working in the morning but by about 9:30 AM, I told my boss that I needed to take a sick day. I think it was my "flu-like" symptoms from getting the flu vaccine on Friday. I don't normally have much of a reaction to the flu jab, but it makes sense as we are now in an immunocompromised state that it would cause a bit more of a reaction. I have to say that I'm even more glad I got the flu jab because I definitely don't want the flu this year if yesterday was a taste of it!

Bubbasmama2017 · 28/09/2021 07:59

@aNewYorkerInLondon did you have to pay for the flu jab? I've never had it but definitely don't want to get flu!
I work from home part time but already dreading my work days they really drag and I feel so much worse on days I'm working for some reason

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 08:16

Hi @Bubbasmama2017! I got it from my GP for free. If you're 65 or over, pregnant, or have underlying health conditions, you're currently eligible via the NHS at your GP surgery.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 08:16

I think other people are eligible after the categories mentioned have their chance at it first.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 08:17

Since almost none of us got flu last year, they're saying this flu season could be a bad one.

Bubbasmama2017 · 28/09/2021 08:22

@aNewYorkerInLondon thank you I'll give them a call!

EJLM · 28/09/2021 09:36

Morning Ladies :) There are so many of us now so exciting! I had my private scan Sunday and baby is measuring at 8w1d so my official due date until my NHS scan is 7th May. I am going to have to chase as I haven't had any contact about booking in appointment or anything yet.

hope everyone is well.

Hello everyone!

I'm new here and due mid-May 2022 with my first baby 😊 Nice to meet you all and so exciting to share this journey together!

I've just got to week 7 and I completely have no appetite and food is a challenge for me every day for the last week. I'm wondering if anyone is in the same situation and has any tips on how to get over this? Thank you

Welcome and congrats!

I've been feeling the same in the mornings. I seem to only be able to stomach beige foods like toast, eggs and crackers until mid afternoon. Once I eat in the morning I start to feel really hungry and want to eat again. Mid afternoon I make a small smoothie and hide spinach and berries in it to get some nutrients. By the evening I lose my appetite again, but I can eat a bit more normally and can eat more than just beige foods. Just listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants 👍🏻

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 10:32

@nuttella1 - yes, my food needs are different from hour to hour. I'll go from nauseated to starving and back so quickly. I never know what I'll want to eat - I've thrown away an embarrassing amount of fresh food that I just couldn't stomach in the past week or so. What was delicious today may be revolting tomorrow. I have stopped buying food ahead of time and now am just seeing what I am in the mood for and getting it delivered or sending hubs out for it. I really look forward to this levelling out a bit in the 2nd trimester.

Forgot to mention how sugar free sprite and mint imperials have also been helping too! I've found ginger hasn't helped half as much as peppermint and sprite!

That's such a good idea and I've also found myself reverting from a meal plan to seeing what each day brings.

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 28/09/2021 10:44

@aNewYorkerInLondon I've thrown away so much fresh food too and I hate it!

I'm just going to buy fresh food as and when I fancy it. My diet is so bland at the minute!

Agnitio · 28/09/2021 10:56

7 weeks today and just had my first phone call from the midwife to arrange my booking appointment and bloods at around 9 weeks as we are both on annual leave back to back over the next 2 weeks. Initially registered 3 weeks ago so nice to finally make contact. Starting to feel real now.

Symptom wise, still just tired and struggling to sleep. Went on a 6 mile walk yesterday and despite all the yawning it just didn't work. Finding that my digestion has really slowed down too so can't eat as much anymore. Feeling super hungry to the point of a bit nauseous but soon disappears after a bowl of bran flakes.

Ashleighz88 · 28/09/2021 11:09

Hello everyone,

Hoping I can join, i'm 6 weeks today from a fresh IVF transfer, obviously this has caused me to be super anxious. I've not got my scan until October at 7.5 weeks. I've had no sickness at all and I'm worried I should have it by now, anyone else not had sickness at 6 weeks? I've been getting the feeling AF is coming on and off, it's so scary.

Does anyone know the earliest you can have a scan to confirm things look ok?

EastMidsGem · 28/09/2021 11:18

I am due early May 2022 and managed to have an early scan yesterday at just over 8 weeks due to a miscarriage in May this year. Everything was fine on the scan - I couldn’t quite believe it! It hasn’t really sunk in yet I don’t think and just praying everything is still ok by the 12 week scan. I don’t know how to add a photo on here or I would show you the scan.

They did say though that I’ve got a sub-chorionic haematoma which I’m quite worried about. They said it might mean some bleeding happens but they didn’t really seem concerned! I will talk to the midwife about it at my first appointment next week

Positive21 · 28/09/2021 11:54

Hope all of you suffering with sickness get some kind of reprieve soon!

@Ashleighz88 Ive not had any sickness. I'm 8 weeks today. I heaved at one thing and I definitely eat smaller meals but that's it. Although I asked my mum and sister if they had any sickness. My mum had none with three children (two girls and a boy), and my sister had none with her first(boy), a fair bit with her middle (a girl) and a little bit in the evening with her third (boy), so I'm hoping it just runs on the family to have no sickness 😅

@EastMidsGem glad you had a good scan! How lovely 💕 I'm sure all will be ok xx

EmilyMay89 · 28/09/2021 12:35

@Ashleighz88 I'm 8 weeks, I've had a couple of days of intense nausea but that's been it. Had the occasional sicky burp (delightful Blush) though.

I've got an early scan tomorrow. Nervous and excited!!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 14:44

Super irritating thing of today: how much a Coke really settles my stomach. I've been trying really, really hard to stay completely away from sodas and other sugary drinks. I've basically been off them since January. My husband has one with his lunch and I've just had two sips, and it immediately calmed my stomach. So frustrating! Why can't water do the same?

I feel the same, water tastes disgusting but sprite settles my stomach.

I just realised today I seemed to have woken up with a bump at 7 weeks. My mum was huge with me so I think I'm going the same way... Going to be tough to hide at work soon 😬

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 16:00

@msunflower - I feel the same! I retired my jeans when I was 5 weeks along just from the bloating! If I d see not wear control top tights, everyone will know!

Any suggestions on what I can wear?! My workplace is super casual and I usually just wear smart dark jeans, plain v neck t shirt and trainers 🤷🏼‍♀️

Babydreams135 · 28/09/2021 16:05

Oh ladies I have never felt more at home than reading some of these comments. I am 7 weeks 6 today. Had a scan last week at 7+1 and Saw a lovely heartbeat. I’m 38 years old which seems to put the fear of god in me and I have two symptoms which is sore boobs which are bigger and peeing more. No sickness. Some days more tired than others. My anxiety is absolutely through the roof. I feel I need to have a scan every week to get me through the first trimester. Physically I have found it easy but mentally it’s been horrendous. I never knew about a missed miscarriage until I was pregnant and now I feel it’s all I read. I’m so sorry a lot of you are dealing with anxiety but it’s so reassuring to know we are all feeling the same and in it together xxx

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 16:12

@msunflower - for a casual workplace, I would take advantage of some of the good-looking track pants styles out there now. I've even seen some in traditionally menswear-style patterns that look pretty sharp, and also stretchy waist and comfy - pair it with a beautiful, feminine untucked blouse and a nice cardigan or blazer for when it is chilly?
