@msunflower glad to hear of someone else with fairly mild symptoms, sounds like we're feeling quite similar at the moment! It worried me previously when others seemed to have loads of symptoms & I had comparatively few but we're all different aren't we?

uptothemoonandstars · 24/09/2021 10:14

Hi Everyone Smile

I got my BFP last Saturday, I am due on 25th May which makes me currently 5 weeks 2 days.
I am feeling extremely nauseas and have been sick for the past 2 days, from what I've read sickness doesn't normally start this early? Is this normal?
I've had the occasional cramping in my stomach but no bleeding so hopefully it stays that way! Has anyone else had this?

I am feeling so anxious about everything, how are you all coping to stay calm about everything?

Looking forward to going on this crazy journey with you all!

I was feeling the same and I actually ended up chatting to the sonograoher about it when I had my six week scan last week. She said it's totally OK to not be sick and experience mild symptoms, she said she also had mild symptoms with her pregnancies. I felt relieved after that and then seeing the baby on the scan. We can just count ourselves lucky for now I think, but always good to keep tracking the symptoms!

Etonmess20 · 24/09/2021 11:31

@msunflower I'm glad you said that, it's a relief to hear it from professionals isn't it? Don't think it helps because my first scan isn't until Monday when I'll be 7+3, I think once I know everything's ok I'll be able to relax

It's completely natural to feel like that before the scan, I did too! Hope it all goes OK, it's so nice to have others to talk to isn't it? Where abouts are you based?

Etonmess20 · 24/09/2021 11:50

@msunflower I really hope so too, we're an IVF pregnancy too so feel like we've already come such a long way to get here. Trying to think positive as there's absolutely no indication that we'll get bad news, haven't had any worrying symptoms etc but it is definitely reassuring to talk to others to see there's a range of "normal"
I'm based in SE London & am 29 (just - we got our BFP on my birthday on 5th September!). How about you? Will this be your first too?

AMM86 · 24/09/2021 12:25

@Etonmess20 ahh we’re Charlton fans too!!! I’m a season ticket holder in North Lower! Yay!!

@uptothemoonandstars you’ve got the same estimated due date as me! I haven’t got any nausea yet but I think everyone’s different. I’ve had tiredness and some twinges and aches. I’ve booked an early scan to put my mind at rest!

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 24/09/2021 12:41

@uptothemoonandstars my symptoms are so mild too and some days I feel completely fine! The early weeks are so worrying though xx

We had been ttc for 15 months and were a week away from starting the process of IVF before I found out I was pregnant so I was super surprised! Having looked into IVF, I understand it's a tough process, hats off to you! I'm 30 and live on the East Anglia/Midlands border, although I go into London regularly. Was this your first round of IVF?

Bubbasmama2017 · 24/09/2021 13:37

@msunflower I was similar to you, had a doctor saying I would need IVF then miraculously got pregnant that same month after over a year of trying. We were so pleased!
My sickness has been bad the last couple of days. Luckily I work from home but I've been really snappy with my partner and he's not enjoying it! Think I might take a day off next week if I feel like this again.

It's really funny how it works out! I left a really stressful job in June and started a new job which has been so brilliant and much lower stress. I keep wondering if that move and lowering my stress levels helped us concieve as it's the only thing we changed ☺️ Hope you're feeling better soon, maybe a day off will help reset and have some time for you.

Hi everyone. TGIF!

I realised the abdominal cramps that have been causing me quite a bit of pain this week are (I think) due to bloating and gas. Apparently the increase in progesterone in pregnancy causes your digestive system to slow down which can cause more gas to build up as food is digested....! Lovely! It has been so uncomfortable I thought I had food poisoning!

It's really causing me quite a lot of discomfort, does anyone have any tips or remedies? I am trying to eat little and often and work out if certain foods make it worse than others. Also going to try and go for a gentle walk each day to help digestion. I hope this is just a temporary adjustment thing!

Sarah239 · 24/09/2021 14:32

@msunflower @Bubbasmama2017 I am similar to you, I had been TTC for over 2 years, we had been told IVF was our next step. I booked a first IVF appointment and 5 days later found out I was pregnant....! It's just crazy, I was so shocked! I still haven't even cancelled the appointment as I have been too scared to jinx anything... I will do soon though!

Etonmess20 · 24/09/2021 14:34

@AMM86 such a small world!!!! We're west lower!! DP has already been on the shop looking at the baby merch they do!!

@msunflower we'd been TTC for 3 years by the time we got our BFP & it was our first IVF cycle. We've got two more embabies in the freezer which hopefully we'll use for siblings if needed in the future. We were classed as unexplained infertility as all our tests came back clear & while the treatment wasn't the most pleasant experience ever it was bearable. The waiting has been the hardest part of it all. Felt like we were always on a waiting list for the next stage of the process!

So glad there's a few of you who didn't have to go through the process & got your BFPs just in time!

Positive21 · 24/09/2021 14:38

Anyone else getting in their own nerves in terms of anxiety? One week till our early scan 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm trying to ignore negative thoughts because the outcome will be, what it will be, by goodness it's difficult. Especially with no family to discuss it with. Back to work tomorrow and next day off is the scan so hopefully I'll be a bit more occupied but my poor lips are getting the brunt of my anxiety where I am picking them! 😭🤦🏼‍♀️

Sarah239 · 24/09/2021 14:41

@Etonmess20 I am so glad for you that you got a BFP after IVF and I wish you a very smooth pregnancy ❤️. I almost feel guilty how it's happened this way for us, but relieved too obviously. I'd heard stories of people who "got pregnant just before starting IVF" and used to roll my eyes to be honest... never thought it would happen to me and feel incredibly lucky and grateful. So much respect for everyone going through infertility, it's a very lonely and depressing journey.

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 24/09/2021 14:44

@Positive21 my anxiety is through the roof some days. It's better when I'm in the office working and that takes my mind off it.

Every time I go to the loo I'm check my knickers! 🙈

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 24/09/2021 14:44

I don't know whether to book in for an early scan or not. Is anyone else going to? x

Positive21 · 24/09/2021 14:55

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter I'm glad it's not just me. I've sort of stopped worrying about seeing blood, now I'm just worried we will have the scan and it's either been missed or is blighted or something. of course my brain goes to that because there are no symptoms so I would of course think the worst 🤦🏼‍♀️ I know it's not good for me or baby and I'm sure everything will be ok but next week can't come soon enough!

We have an early private scan next Friday, I'll be 8+3 then my NHS one is exactly 4 weeks later x

Sorry to hear you are feeling so uncomfortable. I've been sipping on sugar free sprite and mint imperials, I think the peppermint in those are supposed to help. It's good for nausea too! Hope that helps

Wow we really do have a similar story! I had the IVF clinic call me five days after I got a BFP and I also felt undecided on whether we should completely cancel our appointment for the same reasons. I guess you were also quite shocked when you found out too then?!

That's an awful lot of waiting, you've been so patient to get your BFP! Honestly so happy for you, your little one will be surrounded by so much love I'm sure! Does it feel reasurring to know you have the option of IVF in the future for possible siblings?

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter

I did but it was mostly for my husband who was anxious on my behalf. I've been under investigation for endometriosis and they think I have surface level/minimal endo which I'll need surgery for later down the line. Due to that he was worried I would be at higher risk of ectopic, so wanted to check which was really thoughtful of him ☺️

You've summed up my thoughts on this exactly ❤️

Bubbasmama2017 · 24/09/2021 15:18

I've got an early scan booked, I had one when I was pregnant with my daughter a few years ago and although it doesn't entirely make the nerves go away it did help a bit. I'll be 8 and a half weeks when I have the scan so hoping only need to wait 2-3 weeks for my NHS 12 week one but not had the letter through for that yet. Does the midwife book that?? Can you change the date? I work part time so would prefer to go on my day off so my work don't find out yet
