aNewYorkerInLondon · 26/10/2021 20:09

Thank you all so much. I'm going to sleep. It's been a long 24 hours. I so appreciate your good wishes!

We're into the beginning of 12-week scan time for our group. I can't wait to see everyone's lovely sonogram images rolling in over the next few weeks.

Minster2012 · 26/10/2021 20:43

That's excellent @aNewYorkerInLondon 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/10/2021 10:24

How is everyone today?
I'm getting no work done, can't concentrate! All I can think about is my scan on Monday.
Has everyone told their employer as soon as they had the scan? I work from home so don't know if i really need to yet

Etonmess20 · 27/10/2021 10:33

@Bubbasmama2017 I could have written the exact same thing, I can't concentrate at all anymore 😂 my scan is on Wednesday & I don't think about anything else!
I wasn't planning on telling my employer yet as I also work at home but we need to go in for a team meeting at the end of November so will ideally need to say something before that (it's quite obvious otherwise). I also wouldn't be able to put anything on social media before telling work as I have some work people on there - although I know that isn't important to everyone.

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/10/2021 10:42

@Etonmess20 same! We have a work Christmas party early December which I'm not sure I feel comfortable going to now. I'll be around 16 weeks and wanted to get a gender scan then so don't want to jeopardize being around a C case and not being able to do that!

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/10/2021 10:43

I feel really torn between getting ahead of myself and thinking further into pregnancy and when baby is here then the next minute I'm thinking negative and worried about the scan showing bad news

fattycatty82 · 27/10/2021 10:45

Exactly the same boat! Wfh and definitely don't want to tell work until after not just the 12 week scan but also the screening tests that go with it... terrified of boss's reaction though as suppose to be covering someone else's maternity cover next year! (I'll only manage part of it) I've decided to send her an email and cc in HR... gives her time to process then and hopefully not be too negative/shocked to my face. Trying not to feel guilty, as we all have the right to a family, and reminding myself that I'm doing nothing wrong keeping it a secret for a bit longer as legally you don't have to tell them until 15 weeks before due date. I do feel like my hearts on really in it now I know I'm pregnant, just so many other things to be thinking about...

Jowd92 · 27/10/2021 10:46

I’m feeling very sick again today it did seem to ease off but seems to have come back I still haven’t even got a date for a scan yet still waiting for it to come through the post

Etonmess20 · 27/10/2021 10:51

@Bubbasmama2017 that's the other concern isn't it? I feel comfortable going into our office for a couple of hours but don't know how I'd feel about a party (especially with people I wouldn't choose to spend my time with). I wouldn't be surprised if you're not the only person who doesn't want to attend due to covid worries, plenty of people aren't pregnant & are worried.
I think I'm just going to tell my employer after our scan on Wednesday at least then they can be more understanding around flexible working etc, I'll also be literally 13 weeks due to scan timing.
I feel the same as you, I keep thinking about I'll be X weeks by this point & what pram shall we get then I catch myself like you're getting too far ahead. I'm really hoping after the 12 week scan I can relax a bit more. It'll be my 4th scan & baby has been fine everytime but this feels like such a milestone.

Etonmess20 · 27/10/2021 10:54

@fattycatty82 try not to worry about that, that's their problem. Like you say, you're more than entitled to have a family & do that in your own time & tell them when you feel it's appropriate to do so. There's never a "good time" to have 6+ months off work. Hopefully your planned approach to telling them will give your boss chance to work on their professional reaction to your happy news

itssquidstella · 27/10/2021 10:55

I’ve had three miscarriages since Jan 2020. Just had a scan and seen a healthy baby measuring 10w1d!

Obviously not out of the woods yet, but this is the furthest I’ve ever been so crossing my fingers hard that everything will be okay this time. EDD of 24th May if things continue to go well.

@Etonmess20 thanks 🙏 and I'm the same... I've even ordered maternity clothes and picked up a few little babygros the other day 🤦‍♀️ I've always liked to be prepared but defo rushing a bit too far ahead!

fattycatty82 · 27/10/2021 10:57

@itssquidstella congratulations 🥳😊

itssquidstella · 27/10/2021 11:00

Thanks @fattycatty82!

Etonmess20 · 27/10/2021 11:00

@fattycatty82 my IVF bloat never seemed to go down so I've been in maternity jeans for a few weeks now I couldn't do my other jeans up so was no other way round it! 😂
Going to allow myself to buy an outfit or two after our 12 week scan, have managed to stop myself before now!

Etonmess20 · 27/10/2021 11:01

@itssquidstella congratulations, you must be so pleased! Lovely scan picture too x

aNewYorkerInLondon · 27/10/2021 11:35

@Etonmess20 @fattycatty82 @Bubbasmama2017 - I told my manager and HR relatively early on, as I needed time for my various appointments and also was feeling quite ill. I let them know that I am not ready to tell my team yet and they have to keep it confidential. It's known to them when they must write it down as "___'s Secret."

I'm so glad I did because on Monday night when I had to go to A&E and Tuesday when I was at the hospital all day, two quick texts to my manager were enough for him to totally understand what was up and that I wouldn't be in yesterday.

The way I look at it is more notice is always better than less and if something were to go wrong, I'd need them to give me time anyway, so there was no downside.

(If I had been interviewing for a promotion or something maybe I would have thought differently.)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 27/10/2021 11:37

@itssquidstella - beautiful photo!!!

itssquidstella · 27/10/2021 11:45

Thanks @Etonmess20 and @aNewYorkerInLondon! Can't quite believe there's a baby inside me tbh - but there it is!

hwp22 · 27/10/2021 13:27

Hi Ladies...can I join your lovely group? I'm jus over 10 weeks been having a bit of a read but generally staying away a bit from forums or FB groups due to previous m/c's last year. I'm due 24th May - I've got a scan booked this weekend.....feeling really anxious about it, but with how exhausted and nauseous and exhausted I feel hoping all will be OK! hwp x
