@AMM86 I'm 10+5 and had 1 day last week where the vomiting and nausea was getting better but it came back much worse towards the end of the week. It's exhausting isn't it?

I've still got just less than 2 weeks until my scan and driving myself mad with worry! Also gaining weight quickly with only wanting to eat high carb processed foods Sad

Positive21 · 19/10/2021 09:19

@EastMidsGem glad you got your scan date. My diet is very beige at the moment too! Made a tray bake with a load of veggies which was nice but couldn't eat it as was, still had to add some sauce or gravy to tolerate it. Broccoli is my favourite veg of all time and right now I hate it 😭 (and I don't eat a lot of veg as it is so can't afford to be stopping the veg I do like!)

@Sarah239 that's very frustrating but hopefully you will be fine! My oh and I have been feeling yucky and snotty. Both did tests yesterday and they came back negative.

@stephlouwaz I'm sure all is ok, fingers crossed for when you go back.

@Bubbasmama2017 I'm the same, try not to worry. Just eat what you can for now and hopefully things will pick up in the next week or so 💕

I'm really struggling with some baby related fb pages at the moment. Everyone is playing guess the sex, and all I can think is I don't care what the sex is, I just want a happy healthy baby. Still a fair bit of anxiety, just want next weeks scan to be positive. No reason it wouldn't be, but I always think negatively. Today I am 11 weeks, so my dating scan is in 10 days.

EastMidsGem · 19/10/2021 09:36

@Positive21 Broccoli is my favourite too!! But I haven’t had it in weeks and weeks. I’m having some peas and sweetcorn, the odd carrot and that’s about all the veg I can take at the minute and am also going carb crazy like @Bubbasmama2017

I’m hoping my nausea has subsided for good now but that I’m itself is worrying. Don’t you just wish we could have fortnightly scans throughout pregnancy?! I’ve noticed that the last few weeks babies are everywhere, on adverts, programmes, films, radio… everywhere!

stephlouwaz · 19/10/2021 12:04

Thanks everyone ☺️
Feeling much better about everything this morning and hopefully will have some scan photos to show next week!

KingaBee · 19/10/2021 13:17

Hello everyone,

I'm due May 24 with a surprise baby, so I spent the first few weeks processing the news. I also spent a few days in hospital a couple of weeks ago because I came down with some vicious stomach bug. But thanks to that I had an emergency early scan, and so the beating heart and was assured everything was as it should be.

I'm 39 and have PCOS and I'm also overweight, so I was told it would oh, so hard, to get pregnant. All it took was getting a bit carried away on bank holiday weekend. I still can't believe I got pregnant while actively trying not to get pregnant. We were considering trying to have a baby but all the things from doctors I was hearing was discouraging I was preparing myself for a long and depressing journey.

I'm grateful for that, but not so grateful about discovering my company maternity pay policy (or lack of thereof).

How is everyone doing?

@KingaBee Congratulations and welcome 😊

@LeeRainbow that picture is amazing - made me a bit emotional!

@aNewYorkerInLondon thank you so much.
@EastMidsGem thank you can really start making out their little features now.

Sanguinely · 19/10/2021 15:25

Hi again all — been a while!

On the advice of a few ladies here, I had a private scan done to figure out the cause of some early bleeding. The gestational sac measured 6w+0 (right on track), but the tech couldn't pick up a yolk sac or fetal pole. She was very cagey about it — "it's POSSIBLE everything is fine," that sort of thing.

Today I have another scan (8w+1) and this one should basically confirm whether or not I'm going to have a miscarriage. My symptoms have been very mild from the start and now I'm concerned that they've been fading further. I'm completely emotionally unprepared for what my happen today. Please keep me in your thoughts!

GinnyBee · 19/10/2021 15:30

Best of luck today @Sanguinely ! xxx

6 weeks really is early to see much at all, so I don't understand why the technician would be so negative. It would also take being a couple days out to not see anything that early on.

EastMidsGem · 19/10/2021 16:11

@Sanguinely thinking of you. Sending comforting hugs too!

AMM86 · 19/10/2021 16:20

Thank you so much for all your advice everyone! My doctor this morning prescribed me some anti-sickness medicine, though even though she’s prescribed it specifically for pregnancy sickness I have freaked out and double checked with the pharmacist when the label said don’t take if you’re pregnant!
Only been sick once so far today and that was first thing. Basically only keeping it at bay by constantly eating what I know stays down. So today that’s been about 5 packets of ready salted crisps, several digestive biscuits and now a slice of garlic bread! The midwife did say yesterday to just eat whatever I can keep down so….
Praying that there’s only about 3 more weeks left of this as it’s horrendous! Worth it though, I know! Smile

SerendipitySunshine · 19/10/2021 17:16

We have our NIPT results back at least. Low risk for the three trisomies they test for, I am very relieved. 12 week scan next week. I am desperate to see baby again to make it feel real.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/10/2021 17:29

@Sanguinely - best of luck today! Let us know how it goes. We're with you!

@AMM86 - you can only do what you can do. I'm so glad you're keeping anything down. I'm sure this will pass but that doesn't help when you're feeling wretched!

@SerendipitySunshine - so very pleased for your good result! Do you plan to still do the Nuchal as well? The lady who did my NIPT draw and scan, who happens to also have been on the advisory panel that made the test that the NHS uses for Nuchal, said that if we get a good NIPT result we should consider turning down the Nuchal because it's less accurate and if Nuchal turn up a bad result they'll just recommend NIPT as a next step. Thoughts? I'm so impatient to get my NIPT results!

GinnyBee · 19/10/2021 17:49

My 12-week scan letter came! 8th November, I'll be 12+2. So glad I don't have to wait longer, with my first pregnancy it wasn't going to be until I was nearly 14 weeks but then I never got that far.

Sarah239 · 19/10/2021 19:46

@Positive21 @EastMidsGem I also can't stand broccoli at the moment! 😂 It used to be the bag I ate the most! I've been pretty lucky with minimal food aversions but broccoli is the only thing that's made me nearly throw up!

forestlovr · 19/10/2021 22:32

So excited for my 12 week scan tomorrow I can't sleep!

Sanguinely · 20/10/2021 02:53

I am so distraught right now.

After biting my nails for two weeks, I just told myself, "one way or the other, at least you'll know." But I don't know. The baby should be measuring 8w1d, but it's only 6w6d. They found the fetal pole, but couldn't get a heartbeat.

All they could tell me is that I really should get a transvaginal ultrasound, but with my terrible insurance, it's going to cost a fortune. I don't know what to do. I feel so incredibly angry right now. I feel like I have a right to be excited or to grieve and that's being stolen from me. And I feel angry with myself for not being grateful that there's at least a chance that the baby is okay, because I am going insane without closure.

Sanguinely · 20/10/2021 02:58

While I was out looking after my chickens, trying to hold it together and distract myself from all of this uncertainty, I managed to step down wrong on my ankle and sprain it badly. I limped back to the house just bawling my eyes out. I haven't been able to stop crying. I'm in pain, but I don't want to take anything because I'm trying to protect a baby that might not even be alive anymore, AND NOONE CAN TELL ME. I'm losing it.

GinnyBee · 20/10/2021 08:00

Sorry to hear this @Sanguinely xx

Are you based in the US? What an awful situation :( Have they taken your HCG levels, or is that really expensive too?

Positive21 · 20/10/2021 09:46

@Sanguinely I'm so sorry 💕 hoping everything works out xx

Hope91 · 20/10/2021 10:27

Morning all hope everyone is okay so sorry I have been massively absent I am struggling with sickness massively and my anxiety is through the roof so have just been taking a little break.

@Sanguinely I am so sorry you are going through such a stressful time. If it offers any reassurance my first scan they could only see the yolk sac couldn’t even date it. Second scan I went to at epu I was so sure I was 8-9 weeks and they dated me 6+3 and could only pick up a faint heartbeat internally and went for my 3rd scan 2 weeks later on Friday and was measuring 9+1 with a strong heart beat which meant baby had actually grown an extra week nearly in that time. The sonographer said to me that often so early it can be really hard to date due to baby being so small. I really hope they are able to offer you some reassurance or guidance soon. Sending so much love xx

morphe · 20/10/2021 12:15

@KingaBee Welcome. I'm 42 and I was quite surprised by my pregancy too. We weren't using contraception, and I was sort of hoping it might happen but not timing or checking ovulation or anything. I'd pretty much given up hope of it happening naturally, but I'm very glad it did!

@aNewYorkerInLondon I am waiting on NIPT results too, but I'll definitely go ahead with the nuchal as well. Just because I've had bad results with NIPT before and I want to feel reassured by getting every test available, and the nuchal isn't invasive or risky (and it's included in the cost of my private NIPT package). I believe that there are some conditions which can cause a high nuchal result, but the NIPT doesn't test for.

@Sanguinely what a stressful situation. I heard early scans aren't that accurate for measurements, and I don't know what I'd do in that situation except wait and see.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 20/10/2021 12:20

@morphe - i tend to agree. more info is always better than less
