Hi all!

A little late to the party but due ~28th May :)

Feeling a bit nauseous, VERY tired but generally okay. The evening bloat has been terrible so today I dug out my maternity jeans and I'm so happy I did!

I'm wondering from anyone who is slightly ahead or had early scans, do you know if partners are allowed to scans at the moment? I'm in Cardiff if that helps. Trying to work out if we might as well have a private scan a little sooner if he can't come to the dating scan.

Happy to be here :)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 14/10/2021 11:56

@EastMidsGem , sending the best luck your way for your scan!

GinnyBee · 14/10/2021 12:42

Welp, that's me past my two mc 'milestones' now! My scan this morning was absolutely fine, even measuring two days ahead! I'm so relieved as I was starting to convince myself it wasn't going to be good news as my symptoms have eased off so much in the last week. But nope, little lump was just fine!

I read somewhere that the placenta starts taking over from 8-9 weeks, fully formed by 15-16 weeks, so I guess that might explain the sudden drop in symptoms? If the placenta is now doing some work.

@WyncyG I've had two scans at the EPU so far and my husband was allowe din both. Also with my previous pregnancies, October 2020 and April 2021 he was allowed in private scans both times, and at the hospital he wasn't in October but was in April. So I'd think most places let partners in now. Check the hospital/clinic website, it should say :)

GinnyBee · 14/10/2021 12:43

Best of luck @EastMidsGem ! Let us know how it goes! xx

Minster2012 · 14/10/2021 16:13

@PsychoDeMayo that's really good though!

And @GinnyBee yessss absolutely brilliant so pleasing!

@WyncyG I've had 2 scans at EPU & DH could come to both, and now got a private one this weekend where he can come

Good luck @EastMidsGem 🤞🏻

EastMidsGem · 14/10/2021 16:38

Delighted to say that scan went perfectly fine!! Although SCH has not shrunk but it is right near the cervix the sonographer said so that might explain the spotting. Good strong heartbeat she said and little bean was waving Smile

@EastMidsGem amazing news! What a lovely scan picture too, so glad to hear all is ok

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/10/2021 18:23

@Positive21 my date by LMP is 12th may but my early scan showed me as the 10th may.

My sickness has been shocking the last couple of days! And very tired. Glad the weekend is coming up!

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/10/2021 18:26

@EastMidsGem that's such a clear picture of baby! Lovely to see

Minster2012 · 14/10/2021 18:32

Awwwww that's lovely @EastMidsGem congratulations

Sarah239 · 14/10/2021 19:45

Hi @WyncyG! I asked the midwife about scans and she said partners were allowed. At private scans I think you would be even more likely to be allowed a partner too; I was at mine. I think it's only other antenatal appointments where restrictions may still be in place, not scans

@EastMidsGem delighted for you! Hello little one!

@GinnyBee Great to hear your scan went well! The lack of symptoms has been worrying me too, but midwife just said to enjoy it while I can! I am still really tried and boobs a bit sore, and still finding it hard to eat large meals. I had read the same about the placenta so maybe that's it.

Had my first face-to-face appointment yesterday :) have my notes folder too. All helps to make it feel more real. The symptoms waning has really made me anxious for another scan though. I'm still finding it hard to imagine there could actually be a baby in my tummy! Even though I saw it less than 2 weeks ago! Just want dating scan date to come through now...

PsychoDeMayo · 14/10/2021 21:38

Such lovely news @EastMidsGem😊

PsychoDeMayo · 14/10/2021 21:47

Will spare you the details but sadly I’m no longer pregnant so will be leaving you ladies to enjoy the May baby excitement.
Tbh I’m feeling ok, kind of resigned to it rather than upset. Not sure if that’s because I had it in my head that this was a sort of practice round of IvF and had no real expectations. Got some wee frozen guys leftover from that so hopefully I’m not too far behind you lot in becoming a mum!❤️

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/10/2021 22:09

Thinking of you @PsychoDeMayo x

SerendipitySunshine · 14/10/2021 22:26

Sorry to hear that @psychodemayo - sending lots of love.

EastMidsGem · 15/10/2021 06:56

GinnyBee · 15/10/2021 10:30

Oh no, so sorry to hear that @PsychoDeMayo :( take care of yourself, maybe with a large glass of wine!

Loubell19 · 15/10/2021 10:45

I'm so so sorry @PsychoDeMayo sending you love. I'm still waiting for confirmation and management of my missed miscarriage and have found the past week so much harder than I thought I would. Take care of yourself xx

PsychoDeMayo · 15/10/2021 11:07

Thanks for all the support ladies.
@Loubell19 sorry you’re going through that, the waiting is horrible.

Elsie2021 · 15/10/2021 14:01

So the anxiety was all getting a bit much for me yesterday following a previous missed miscarriage. We told ourselves we wouldn’t have an early scan this time as our baby lived till 11 weeks last time so didn’t think we would get much reassurance. But yesterday I just had to know that everything was okay! And it was so worth it.

Little one was wriggly around and waving at us! So worth every penny and actually excited now. I tracked ovulation and thought I was 8 weeks 3 days but they measured me at 9 weeks! How did everyone else’s early scan dates compare?

Wow @elsie2021 lovely scan pic
I feel the same keep toying with booking a scan this weekend just feel so nervous
I had one at 8+3 but was measuring a couple of days ahead, I had some spotting before my periods so was never quite sure when they started
