@Bubbasmama2017

Which vitamins is everyone taking? I'm wondering if my nausea is made worse by pregnacare vits
@Bubbasmama2017 - I'm taking proceive max for conception until they run out and then I'll likely stay with that brand as they have specific ones for each trimester. I took them for a few weeks and then didn't take them for a few days when my period was due (was on holiday, completely forgot about ttc for a few days and boom, shocking sickness and a late period after 12-18 months of nothing!). I started taking them again and as soon as I did my sickness eased and I very rarely get any nausea now (at 6 weeks, so still early). Honestly think they helped me get pregnant so I'm sticking with them!
Bubbasmama2017 · 06/10/2021 15:07

Hi @LeeRainbow that's exciting how many weeks will you be at your dating scan? I'm desperate to get the date for mine! I'm hoping I might get seen a bit earlier I'm 8+6 today

LeeRainbow · 06/10/2021 15:17

@Bubbasmama2017 I will be 11w2d which been told can be anywhere from 11-14 weeks midwife said if can’t get some measurements they may ask me to come back again when 12 weeks but get to see baby again so not all bad.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 06/10/2021 15:23

@RT65, I'm using Proceive too! I took the Proceive Max conception (and my husband took the Proceive Max Men supplements too) and I've been using their 1st trimester ones since my BFP. I also am taking additional fish oil capsules because Proceive doesn't have enough DHA/EPA (and they recommend additional source of that), and I'm also taking a small additional dose of iron and of folic acid. I'm a bit cautious!

I tried the Proceive DHA supplements but it was WAY too fishy and I couldn't stand it. I'm using a Holland & Barrett Salmon Oil capsule instead that is much easier to take.

hewegoagain · 06/10/2021 15:23

@LeeRainbow exciting! I have my scan booked for 28th, I'll be 12+1, time is really dragging.... But only 3 weeks to go 😅

@LemonSwan congratulations!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 06/10/2021 15:23

I really think they helped us too!

IF456 · 06/10/2021 16:12

@Minster2012 I am really sorry to hear what you have been through. I am praying it works out for you this time. Big hugs to you and thank you for responding to my question :)

Hyggeandhugs · 06/10/2021 16:21

@Bubbasmama2017 @Sarah239 and @aNewYorkerInLondon thanks for your kind words, support and good wishes. It really does mean the world to feel that we're all on this journey together 😊

@Minster2012 I’m so sorry to hear you had such a difficult experience with your first scan. When they scan women day in and day out they must sometimes forget how we hang on literally every word they tell us. So glad you’ve had good news now.

@aNewYorkerInLondon what a frustrating day you’ve had! When you’ve built yourself up for it and battled any nerves, that’s the last thing you want. I hope you can find an alternative (more reliable) provider soon 🤞🏻

Minster2012 · 06/10/2021 16:46

Thank you ladies 🤞🏻🌈@IF456 @hewegoagain @Hyggeandhugs yes you are right it didn't seem to matter i was going crazy

@RT65 also proceive tablets here too, plus krill oil
@aNewYorkerInLondon can I ask how about the iron tablets? Which ones & how much? Thanks

@LeeRainbow at less than 12 weeks that's the dream & get another scan!

Minster2012 · 06/10/2021 16:53

Oh and @Hyggeandhugs my scan went from around 5 and a half weeks with only GS sac & yolk on the Tuesday to measuring 6+2 with a heartbeat on the Thursday so 2 days difference was HUGE. Don't give up

Celina94 · 06/10/2021 19:49

Hope you are all doing well ladies I've caught up on the thread and so lovely to see some new names and new scan photos.

I'm still pretty much off of my phone as 24/7 all day sickness still kicking my *. Was prescribed Cyclizine yesterday and it hasn't helped at all with the feeling of sickness - however I am vomiting less. Sadly that hasnt given much relief as it's the sickness feeling that is making me feel so low. I'll probably stop taking it soon.

I have a private scan booked for tomorrow when baby should be 9 weeks +3. My last scan was at 6+4 due to bleeding so this one is just a reassurance one. Considering how sick I am I'm hopeful all is well.

I really hope this sickness ends with the first trimester :-( I don't think I can take this for much longer.

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/10/2021 09:59

@Celina94 hope your scan goes ok and your sickness subsides soon. Did you get prescribed the meds because of being sick a certain amount? Mine seems slightly better but had considered speaking to the midwife about it. Some days I'm sick only twice but others 5-6 times.

Celina94 · 07/10/2021 10:14

@Bubbasmama2017 hi! Thank you for your well wishes. It got to a point where I was being sick 10+ times a day at points. Probably the most was nearing 20. But since taking the tablets for 3 days I've been sick once so it definitely is helping keep food down. Still feel exactly the same on the rubbish scale though! I hope your sickness subsides soon too, it sounds like you've passed your peak hopefully ? Xx

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/10/2021 10:21

@Celina94 wow that must have been horrible! Yes I'm hoping I've got through the worst of it, at the same time it's worrying when symptoms start to fade isn't it?! Can't win!

ExpatNYerLondon · 07/10/2021 10:21

Hello, all!

If all goes well, I'm due in May 2022.

Does anyone have recs for private practices/doctors in Central London that manage your whole pregnancy and delivery?

The practice I went to for my first scan doesn't seem organised enough.

Any recs are much appreciated. I don't plan on using NHS care as I want the same group/doctor overseeing the whole pregnancy.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 07/10/2021 10:25

@Celina94, it has to be better that you are able to stay fed and hydrated, right? I'm sure your teeth thank you too.

oh, a note to anyone about vomiting: my dentist told me once that after vomiting, i should rinse my mouth with water or mouthwash, but wait to brush my teeth for an hour because the acid from being sick softens the enamel and it can be damaged by brushing right away. who knew??

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/10/2021 10:50

@aNewYorkerInLondon thanks for the advice. I'm often sick while brushing my teeth Blush I'm feeling quite bad about being so lethargic around my daughter this week. She's not quite old enough to understand but I can see she's worried about me.

Celina94 · 07/10/2021 10:51

@Bubbasmama2017 honestly! a
What a rollercoaster.

@aNewYorkerInLondon you're so very right. Im having extreme guilt right now as I still feel so upset and know I should be grateful that I am able to keep food and water down :-( it means me and baby are healthier than if I were to be dehydrated and empty. My feelings are just really confusing me right now. And thank you for the dentist advice xx

GinnyBee · 07/10/2021 11:16

Hi all!

I haven't been on for a few days as I've felt absolute pants! Nothing is coming up thank god, but I feel constantly hungover and incredibly tired. Having to be in the office all day today which is no fun, but at least I have a desk job instead of anything more physical.

@aNewYorkerInLondon Yes, the same advise applies to drinking anything acidic like orange juice etc. and you should wait at least 30 mins before brushing your teeth!

@ExpatNYerLondon I don't have any recommendations but will say that you should really look into it. Where I'm based we get one dedicated midwife for the duration of the pregnancy and then antenatal care too, so it is the same person overseeing my care. From what I understand, private hospitals are great as long as everything goes smoothly, but if there's an emergency they will send you to an NHS hospital anyway, they're not usually very well equipped to deal with genuine emergencies.

Elsie2021 · 07/10/2021 14:36

Hi everyone 🙂 I posted on this thread when I first got my BFP but have been quite since then although I read it every day!

I am just struggling today. I am 7+3 and pregnant following a miscarriage earlier in the year. I found out at my 12 week scan. I was doing pretty well, but for some reason I am having an anxious day today.

I haven’t felt as sick as normal and my boobs don’t feel as sore. I guess I’m just anxious before it was a missed miscarriage that my body doesn’t know how to recognise it and I could be left waiting till my scan again if the same thing happens again.

I thought about having an early scan but the baby stopped growing at 11 weeks last time so I’m not sure how much reassurance it’ll give me.

I’m sorry to be such a Debbie downer! I just needed somewhere to write it down and vent.

Love to you all. I just can’t wait till we get past our 12 week scans so hopefully we can relax a bit 💐

GinnyBee · 07/10/2021 14:58

@Elsie2021 I know how you feel! I have two losses within a year, first one started naturally at 10 weeks but only measured 6+5 and the second was a mmc at 8+4. With the first one we'd seen a heartbeat at an early scan, so with the second decided to wait until later. This time I'm getting reassurance scans at the EPU, I had my first one last week at 6+4 and saw a heartbeat, but based on my previous experiences that hasn't really reassured me much and I'm nervous for the next one which is next week. That will be further than we've got to before so fingers crossed.

My boobs were extremely sore with my first pregnancy but a lot less so with the second and this current one. I guess they did the painful stretching the first time, so it's not so bad now.

EastMidsGem · 07/10/2021 15:29

@Elsie2021 I also know how you feel. I had a missed miscarriage in May, we had an emergency scan at 11 1/2 weeks to find that it had only developed to 6 weeks. We have had an early scan this time and saw heartbeat and everything but I do still worry.

I have had days where my symptoms have reduced only to come back with a vengeance the next day. I believe they can fluctuate so I would t read too much into that.

Personally I only had sore boobs the first couple of weeks for both pregnancies. I have had sensitive nipples since (sorry if tmi!) but this does vary depending on what I wear and I just get sort of pangs of pain in my breasts sometimes, maybe a few times a day, usually in the evening. I have had nausea several times a day (apart from the one day it dipped off and then came back the following day).

I think the truth is, every pregnancy and every person is different and we can’t control it. All we can do is try to stay positive and take each day as it comes
