Had my private scan this evening - all well, now measuring two days behind instead of one but the heartbeat was 148bpm which is perfect range for 8 weeks 🥰 said it was normal to be within 3 days anyway.

Sickness is still awful and fell asleep on sofa at 7pm yesterday but hopefully a sign all hormones are well 🙏🏻

Treating myself to a Zizzi and some baby clothes shopping! @Positive21 I have so much stuff already too 😂

@LS2020, what a beautiful scan! So happy things look well!

Positive21 · 29/09/2021 17:48

@Hope91*@EmilyMay89 @LS2020*

So happy for you all with your positive scans! It makes me look forward to mine although the anxiety has had me in tears today 🙄 but I've got 40 hours until my scan. I've changed it to hours cause it seems like less time 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm getting on my own nerves now!

Babydreams135 · 29/09/2021 18:04

Is this your first scan? I know it’s absolute mental torture waiting but you are so close to seeing your little baby. I remember feeling physically sick with anxiety before my scan but then the relief was unreal when I saw all was ok♥️It doesn’t seem to last very long with me right enough before I’m in panic mode again. I have booked another 2 scans to keep me going. I’m 8 weeks today. I spoke to my mw and she says do what u have to do to get through it. I have even started seeing a fertility councillor who is wonderful because I was struggling that much, I felt I had to do something. I have never know anxiety like it. She seems to be able to put my negative thoughts into perspective. I hope the next 40 hours or so go so quick for you. Looking forward to hearing about your good news xxx

autumn321 · 29/09/2021 18:37

Is anyone else really suffering with extreme bloating? I'm 6 weeks today but honestly look 6 months pregnant! Couldn't do my work trousers up today. I am drinking more water (but going for a wee about 50 times a day!) but my stomach looks and feels so big that its really uncomfortableSad

Positive21 · 29/09/2021 18:46

@Babydreams135 yes first pregnancy and first scan. It's an early scan. I was 8 weeks yesterday so should be 8+3 on the scan, fingers crossed!

It's mad how you can worry so much about something like this isn't it? Thank you so much 💕 I aim to sleep a fair bit of the 40 hours, just have to remind myself that 😂

I've then got my 12 week nhs one at 12+3 on Friday 29th October and I'll most definitely be booking something around 16 weeks! I'm a nightmare but OH doesn't seem to mind I wanted an early scan 😅

Sarah239 · 29/09/2021 18:52

@autumn321 I was in my 6th week (last week) I am now my 7th week and things have settled down which I am so relieved about, though it brings its own anxieties!

I was in a lot of discomfort, thought I had food poisoning (still think maybe I did?!?) so I'm glad it has settled, hope yours does too!

BirdwatchingIsPeaceful · 29/09/2021 18:56

@autumn321 you're not alone. I am approaching my 6th week and the bloat is on steroids. It actually hurts.

Sarah239 · 29/09/2021 18:57

Has anyone else just lost all motivation to work since they found out they were pregnant?! It's a real struggle for me not to have breaks all the time... though I am grateful that I CAN...I am working from home and trying to balance not getting too stressed with feeling guilty that I am behind with work this week! I took 2 days off sick last week.

I haven't enjoyed my job since the start of the pandemic really, and now it is even lower down my priorities. I've been wanting to leave somehow for a while and now I feel like I have this light at the end of the tunnel in ~7 months, but worried about getting too attached to the idea incase something happens.

I think it will be easier to manage if I get to 12 weeks and people actually know at work.

EastMidsGem · 29/09/2021 19:08

@Sarah239 I feel exactly the same about work. I am also working from home and haven’t enjoyed my job for quite some time. I just find myself daydreaming half the day and wanting to have a nap!

@Positive21 I’m really glad your scan is so soon. I felt so much better after mine on Monday although I’m already thinking of all the things that could still go wrong. I have my first midwife appt on Monday 4th Oct so looking forward to getting the 12 week scan date though it feels like it’s ages away. It might only be 3 1/2 weeks away as I would be 12 weeks then but who knows.

AmICrazy36 · 29/09/2021 19:29

Hi,

Tentatively joining if that’s ok! Found out today that I am indeed pregnant 🤭 in abit of shock and didn’t think anything of the late period, after losing in July

Hope everyone is well! Xx

AMM86 · 29/09/2021 19:35

Hello lovelies,

This week (week 6 today) I seem to be getting whumped with tiredness in particular, and headaches, and not being able to finish meals. Have read up on the digestion thing and will try to have smaller meals spread out throughout the day.

I’m wondering if there are any tips you can share to stay on top of life and still look after yourselves? I took a day off work today and had massive teacher guilt, but deep down I know I come first! Have slept sooooo much today!

Hyggeandhugs · 29/09/2021 19:55

Me too... due May 29th, but I guess it'll be earlier as I already know I have to have a c-section.

Does anyone else feel a bit alone in the sense that their partner is just going about their day as normal, whilst for you everything already feels totally different and it's literally all you can think about? It my 1st (other than an MC) and his 2nd. I guess maybe he'll change after the first scan and it feels more real, or maybe he's just super blasé about everything Hmm

AMM86 · 29/09/2021 20:18

@Hyggeandhugs I feel the same as in my husband isn’t affected by it but I’m feeling something most days. He is understanding though - sometimes I worry he thinks I’ve turned into a right lazy and miserable moo 😆 guess it’s easier to concentrate on other areas of life when your body isn’t constantly reminding you that you’re pregnant!

Newdreams · 29/09/2021 20:25

Hi all haven't posted in few days but I have the dull pain around my belly button area. I have tried to ignore all day but my anxiety through the roof. I have another early preg scan at epau on Tuesday but I'm so scared something is wrong. Does anyone have any advice?

Sarah239 · 29/09/2021 21:04

@EastMidsGem ah, glad it is not just me!

@Hyggeandhugs Yes I know what you mean! My husband is excited and has been supportive (it's his first too) but I also sense he's quite distanced and apprehensive. I think for him (and both of us) it's mainly the fear that something could go wrong as we have been trying to conceive for 2 years, so we almost don't want to tempt fate by getting too attached!

I have just booked a viability scan for 7w0d on Sunday! Suddenly terrified actually! So scared that this bubble may burst. Eep. I hate tempting fate, even though I should remind myself that things like booking a scan won't affect the outcome.

Positive21 · 29/09/2021 21:47

@Sarah239 I'm 7 1/2 hours into my 10 hour shift and I am so done. I am uncomfortable and fidgety and so bored. I should be home about 12.25 but this last few hours will definitely drag! I think I might have to check how the tiredness goes because I normally have a 4pm-2am shift but think that might just do me in!

@EastMidsGem thank you so much. I'm so excited now. It's good to know your scan reassured you. Have you got your date for your 12 week scan through? I have an over the phone booking appointment on 8th October and then my dating scan 29th October when I will be 12+3. Hope it goes quick for you!

@AmICrazy36 welcome!

@AMM86 I've been trying to go for a short walk to help clear my head and have downloaded some short mindfulness/meditation apps. I've had to switch to smaller meals too!

@Hyggeandhugs my OH can't understand why I'm so anxious 🤦🏼‍♀️ but he has ended up being pretty good. Already started on the spare room because he can 😂

Sanguinely · 30/09/2021 00:57

A friend suggested I join mumsnet for the pregnancy threads... I haven't had my first scan yet but I estimate my due date for the 29th.

I started spotting on Monday — it never got heavy, just spotting, but late in the evening there were a couple of little clots or pieces of red tissue. I figured that was it. Obvious miscarriage sign, right? But then instead of getting heavier, the spotting stopped almost entirely. My pregnancy test lines are still strong.

Has anyone experienced this? I wish I had some closure. Some part of me is certain this is a miscarriage, but so far there is no sign of any more bleeding...

Hyggeandhugs · 30/09/2021 01:12

Hi @Sanguinely. Do have you got an early pregnancy unit near you? If so, it might be worth giving them a call and maybe they'd be willing to scan you and give you some reassurance. I know the one near me will see people even if they haven't had their midwife booking appointment yet. I hope everything is okay ☺️

Sanguinely · 30/09/2021 05:01

Thanks @Hyggeandhugs! I'm actually in the US and the cost may be an issue if I opt for a scan right now... although I'm considering doing it anyway. There probably isn't anything that can be done for the baby that I'm not already doing, but I really could use the reassurance. I already let myself grieve a bit on Monday when I was sure the pregnancy was lost, and emotionally I think I really need to know where things stand.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 30/09/2021 05:54

Hi @Sanguinely! Welcome! That sounds really scary. I know every OB/Gyn is different, but my doc in New York, who I adored, had sonogram equipment in-office and I think she would have accommodated a scan if a patient had worrying bleeding. It never hurts to ask. I know pregnancy in the US gets expensive very quickly, but the peace of mind of a viability scan can be worth it. Perhaps it could be an early holiday gift to yourself and your partner (code in my home for pay out of the xmas budget)? It may be too early to see anything too reassuring, but maybe if you book one for midweek next week? I would call your OB/Gyn and just see what they can offer.

Welcome to the group though! These are some awesomely supportive ladies!

Sanguinely · 30/09/2021 06:15

Thanks @aNewYorkerInLondon! The initial plan was to arrange for prenatal care via a local birth center, which would be flat-fee inclusive of everything... but I'm not sure they'll take me with a threatened miscarriage. I have a consult with the midwives there tomorrow, so I'll ask all about that and see if they can move my first scan up if they'll still take me on as a client. Otherwise, I'll probably just get myself an urgent care appointment and hope my insurance company plays ball (I have short-term insurance that doesn't cover routine pregnancy care, only complications).

EastMidsGem · 30/09/2021 07:40

@Positive21 No date yet but I know when I went through my miscarriage in May, I didn’t get a dating scan through until the midwife applied for it when I went for my appointment. Of course I didn’t get to that scan last time! Managed to have the early scan at the EPAU on Monday but just so nervous now that something will go wrong between that and week 12. I’m sure it’s probably natural especially after a loss.

@Sanguinely I hope you do manage to get an earlier scan. I don’t know a lot about the healthcare system in the US but it does take a massive weight off your shoulders to know either way what’s going on

Is anyone else struggling to stay comfortable sleeping? I find I get aching shoulders from lying on my side all the time and get hip pain too

robyna · 30/09/2021 07:45

Anyone got any tips for nausea? 7+2 and feel awful, not actually throwing up but have stood over the toilet gagging. Ginger biscuits and salt and vinegar crisps are the only thing I can stomach at the moment. I haven't told work I'm pregnant yet as I've had 4 previous losses and can't go through telling people I've miscarried again if I do this time as it's too painful. I'm also a secondary school teacher and I have so many intuitive pupils especially a group in my year 11 class that have picked up on it but haven't said anything (they know I have issues with previous losses so they don't want to ask). I've got to leave for work very soon but can't get out of bed cause I feel so sick 😭

Take a non see through flask, pretend it's water or tea and fill it up with sugar free lemonade. Sip it throughout the day, pop a couple of mint imperials in your pockets to have whilst the students are working and sit down whenever you can to catch your breath and feel more grounded and less wobbly. You'll be OK!
