@Babydreams135 - you're in good company here! welcome! I'm an older first-timer too (41) - there are a few of us on here. Smile

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 28/09/2021 16:15

I need to get myself some control tights!!

msunflower · 28/09/2021 16:15
@msunflower - for a casual workplace, I would take advantage of some of the good-looking track pants styles out there now. I've even seen some in traditionally menswear-style patterns that look pretty sharp, and also stretchy waist and comfy - pair it with a beautiful, feminine untucked blouse and a nice cardigan or blazer for when it is chilly?
I love that, never thought of those, thank you! I can still fit in my blouses no problem thankfully. Where did you find the track pants from?

IKIKIK · 28/09/2021 16:27

Im feeling exactly the same! The thought of food turns my stomach and there’s no joy in eating. Plus I’ve just started vomiting (right on the 7 week mark) in the morning which doesn’t help! I’ve found carbs are my best friend - and weirdly fried tofu. It’s annoying as I love food and I’m usually a very good batch cook-er but day to day I just don’t know what I want. Trying to focus on fruits, protein and complex carbs but making much progress. The complete lack of appetite is worse than the nausea and vomiting for me!!

Thank you so much!!

Positive21 · 28/09/2021 17:08

@Babydreams135 exactly how I've felt. I have no reason to worry but like to educate myself on all the scary things of course 🙄 glad you had a good scan!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Has anyone bought anything yet? I may have rather a large collection of newborn and 0-3 month clothes 🤦🏼‍♀️ I told myself I wouldn't think buying something was jinxing it and I'd eventually use them anyway. We aren't finding out the gender so everything will be neutral anyway 💕

I've only bought a cute little stuffed animal from the White Company but I am thinking of starting to buy bits and spread the cost. Any suggestions on where to start?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/09/2021 17:37

@Positive21 - we're hoping to move this winter, so I'm REALLY trying not to buy anything to just have to pack and move it too

PinzQueen · 28/09/2021 17:51

@Puppymamababymama

Hello everyone! Just got a positive test this morning! Super excited and hope this bean stays, had a MC in June and CP in May. If I calculated correctly I should be 4 weeks and 2 days, due May 31st, same as *@Hermioninny*!

Currently constipated and boobs are a little tender. I think they will probably hurt more tomorrow. I also feel absolutely exhausted. I wanted to fall asleep in the middle of the day all week. No nausea yet and I want to eat everything

I'm due in the 31st too. Congratulations!!!
Positive21 · 28/09/2021 17:56

@aNewYorkerInLondon you're far stronger than me! I started collecting a few little bits before we started trying 🤦🏼‍♀️

@msunflower I have just picked up bits from primark/h&m and supermarkets if I saw them in the sale or specifically cute items I really liked 😂 I got a little mickey and friends T-shirt and shorts set from Tesco's for £2 down from £8, couldn't resist 😂

MrsSE · 28/09/2021 18:20

Hey ladies,
I received my nhs scan invite today- for 20th October, just over 3 weeks away!!! Very exciting and I’m hoping the time flies 🤞🏻

I’ve been reading your messages and I totally agree, I find myself being hungry but then an totally repulsed by 90% of the food I try to eat. My breakfast yesterday was an ice lolly haha. I feel like I’m eating half the amount I usually would, and my poor husband is complaining he is gaining weight as he is eating everything I leave.

I am also really struggling with bloating and fitting into my work trousers so will have to take your advice above and get some loser trousers as I am so uncomfortable and need a wee constantly in tighter clothes.

Hope everyone is coping okay, and hoping time flies for us all! X

Lucyb83 · 28/09/2021 18:35

Hi everyone! First time pregnancy for me, I will be 9 weeks on Thursday and due on the 5th of May! Such a nervous time but trying to keep busy so not worrying all the time!

Bubbasmama2017 · 28/09/2021 19:56

@MrsSE that's great how many weeks will you be?

LemonSwan · 28/09/2021 20:00

Hi All,

Glad to see everyone is keeping well.

I have been making progress on finding out what stays down (and spent a small fortune on food experimenting).

I have found melon is an absolute godsend! As are the small pots of fruit you get for kids lunches (Peaches, pears etc, in fruit syrup). Really good not only for the nausea but for neutralising stomach acid if anyone is having hiccups/ burping.

Strawberries and blueberries with american pancakes and syrup have been going down really well for breakfast. Loving fruit yoghurts as well.

For dinners I am finding rice is best, and light curries, chicken katsu etc. (which are weird - because I thought these would be spicy/heavy; but actually garlic/ wine/ cream based sits too heavy on my stomach).

Also been finding tomatoes which have been my food of choice FOREVER; are way to acidic. Cannot have tomato based anything atm unfortunately!

So with cream/ tomato based sauces banned I have been struggling for any pasta meals.

I invented a new pasta dish of crushed almond nuts sauteed in butter, and then a couple onions cut into chunks slowly cooked whilst adding starch water from the pasta (so they are soft and lovely). Sounds very weird but throw in some pesto at the end and its bloody fantastic! Like a nutty earthy woodland pasta which tastes so good it doesn't even need cheese.

I also found a jar of Bockwurst hotdogs in the back of the cupboard. I have never wanted to eat these for the nearly two years since I bought them (a panic purchase during COVID last year!); and my god they were bloody amazing!

So anyone else with the weird food discoveries - let me know your findings please Grin

MrsSE · 28/09/2021 20:02

@Bubbasmama2017 NHS are dating me as being 12+1 on the scan date, but I was having 32-35 day cycles so I think I’ll be around 11 weeks then.

Bubbasmama2017 · 29/09/2021 10:29

@MrsSE very exciting!
The weeks are going so quick at the moment hopefully it won't feel too long til our dating scans.
I've woken up this morning with only mild nausea and no other symptoms, my stomach which was bloated is pretty flat. Anyone else get days like this?

Marden11302 · 29/09/2021 10:37

So I called them up, and apparently they’ve had a huge backlog of referrals, and she said to me “are you out of area by any chance?” Which I am, but not too far, I work 5 minutes away from the hospital and I’m only going there because my mother in law is a midwife there 🤦🏻‍♀️ But she said it’s fine, my 1st appointment is 12 weeks and there isn’t anything that can be done, bit anxious to wait that long to be seen 😞

Hansoo · 29/09/2021 11:22

1st antenatal appointment today. I'm 7wks+0.

I am managing to eat mainly savoury stuff but struggling with fruit and vegetables. I can do peas. I can manage mince and burger type stuff and beef. Plus chicken in small amounts. Also still enjoying bacon and potatoes.
Not lamb.

I loved salmon but struggling with that now and I can't face rice.

I used to really enjoy varied food but not now. I find it hard to eat rich sweet stuff but can still do some chocolate types.

Bubbasmama2017 · 29/09/2021 11:25

@Hansoo that's so interesting! I don't want rice either partly because I know how horrible it is to be sick when you've eaten rice :-( also I usually love chocolate but I can't face it and wanting salty stuff rather than sweet too. Mostly eating bagels and potato.

Positive21 · 29/09/2021 12:36

@Bubbasmama2017 I don't have many symptoms at all! I'm very tired and my nipples are uncomfortable. I had cramping last week and then weeks 4/5 and excessive thirst and peeing is ongoing but no sickness/nausea/don't feel bloated etc.

I have noticed though that I'm definitely wanting to eat little and often. I had dinner last night and couldn't finish it even though it was quite small (for me) so I've split my dinner for work tonight 😅

EastMidsGem · 29/09/2021 12:40

I find that I only want to eat really plain foods too. I normally like quite spicy food and I am just not interested in even trying it now. I seem to just want anything with potato and lots and lots of mild dairy products. I’m getting through glasses of milk like crazy!

@Bubbasmama2017 a bagel sounds like a great idea! I need something for a mid morning and mid afternoon snack to stave off the nausea so might go for that with some Philadelphia

Hope91 · 29/09/2021 16:04

Hey girls how are you all? Sorry I have taken some time off as I was feeling a little overwhelmed with everything. I have been for a scan today at EPU due to some cramping and they have measured me at 6+3 with a beautiful little heartbeat. I thought I was 6+6 today due to ovulation but they said baby can measure slightly smaller/ bigger In earlier weeks and Dating scan will be the 12 week scan. Has anyone else had this measuring slightly smaller than they thought? Sickness has hit me like a train since 6 weeks and I am now regretting my complaining about lack of symptoms lol! How is everyone doing? Welcome to everyone new I will catch up on all the messages I have missed over the next few days xxx

EmilyMay89 · 29/09/2021 16:22

@EastMidsGem potato is officially my best friend. In particular hash browns, I am ashamed to say I am eating them every day haha!!

@Hope91 sorry you had to go to EPU but very happy that everything was looking and sounding ok. I had a scan this morning and seeing a little baby and it's heart was incredible

aNewYorkerInLondon · 29/09/2021 16:26

@EastMidsGem - yes on the milk!! I've been going through so much Guernsey milk. It's so good and makes me feel loads better. When I wake up in the night, I have a glass of milk and two saltine crackers and I can go back to sleep.
