Both our PCR tests as expected have come back positive.

Last night was rough and I feel drained. Every part of my body is aching.
Hospital have been great, I'll still have my growth scan etc next week I'll just been seen right at the end of the day so they can deep clean the room afterwards.
I've not really had much coughing yet but I know I'm only on day 2 so that can change. Baby is moving lots which is good.

My last day of isolation will be my birthday and the day I turn 37 weeks 🙈

FTEngineerM · 26/08/2021 11:32

@Kirky658 I’m sorry that these first few weeks haven’t been what you’d dreamt of, the end is in sight now. I couldn’t imagine what it must be like, let us know tomorrow how Alice’s weight is and if you’re on your way home. Are you/your DH able to explain to them how this has been affecting you?

@deedeebythesea wow what a rollercoaster, glad your home safe and sound now. I get a bit like that though, if someone who is a professional in that field recommends something your mind is just keeping your baby safe so I think we just say yes ok because we care so much. Hopefully that mw won’t be there now when you have a lush relaxing calm home birth.

@SP2Bx that’s really bad! I’ve felt ‘left alone’ this pregnancy too, not in a good way, when she called to arrange next appointment she forgot she sent me for a growth scan.. then was surprised I didn’t see a midwife.. then said the ctg in the hospital was probably ok.. argh I haven’t seen anyone since 34 weeks and I’m nearly 38 with so much crap going on in between.

Thanks @Mamabearwherewe’ve gone through so many😂

Good luck @2021mumma @jasvl

@khr1 thank you for checking in, I’m much better thank you. Midwife appt Monday to check baby again but I have energy back and I’m up doing things again, well in the house/garden anyway 😂.

@crobo87 oh god, take time to relax now, it does get better. I hope you are ok there.

Kirky658 · 26/08/2021 12:35

So many of you to tag but just wanted to say thanks for the support. It really helps having some lovely people to let it all out to. I plan to speak to the health visitor once we get home to see if I can get some counselling as I think it will do me good. Everything else is great with Alice we just need her to put on some more weight tomorrow so they've got an 'upward trend' on their graph 🙄

I've decided not to go down the bf route at the moment with my mental health being as it is. I can't deal with not knowing how much she's eating and the stress of trying to learn something new at the same time. She's still getting expressed milk which of course is brilliant, so I may try again when we are home, I may not. I'm trying to look after myself as well as her.

@crobo87 so sorry you've tested positive too but I'm glad you are still getting your scans. In our trust I asked the nurses what the protocol was if they got a covid positive patient and basically the patient can't leave the room, and the nurses need to wear a more substantial face mask (they're already wearing aprons and gloves anyway) so I don't think it's as big a deal as it used to be.. Hope you feel OK ❤️

@ftengineerm really sorry to hear that you feel abandoned too, I felt like that my with my community midwife and I didn't trust her to do what she needs. Luckily the day I was sent into hospital I had a different midwife covering! If you really don't think you're getting anywhere I'm pretty sure you have the right to ask for another one x

unicornpower · 26/08/2021 12:43

Thanks for the new thread!

Taybz · 26/08/2021 14:22

@Mamabearwhere thank you for the new thread!

@Krista1991 due date twins!

MrsMcNtobe · 26/08/2021 14:29

@SP2Bx I feel my appointments have been a bit of a let down too! I was told to we’d discuss my birth plan at 36 weeks and the appointment was so rushed that I’m 99% sure she didn’t even dip test my urine sample 🤦🏻‍♀️ She was making a big deal about baby being back to back and sent me for a scan and the hospital said they don’t even scan for back to back babies but they took a look and she was fine.. so I’m back at midwife again at 38+3 and tbh I’m just expecting to be measured and hand in a urine sample, I don’t expect much more from her 😕

Mamabearwhere · 26/08/2021 15:04

I also had my 36 week appointment today. They didn’t even check the fundal height or discuss birth plan, just dipped my urine, done bp and that’s it. She told me “oh you’re an expert now as this is your 3rd” whenever I tried to bring up the birth plan. She basically told me that “as you know birth don’t go to plan so you don’t need to write one, but if you want to feel free to write one” I left feeling super confused. I don’t think you ever become an expert at being pregnant regardless of whether it’s your first or 3rd. Sounds like most trusts have given up on discussing birth plans.

OP posts:
MrsMcNtobe · 26/08/2021 15:19

@Mamabearwhere it seems that way! I get these things don’t go to plan but it’s still nice to have someone speak over things isn’t it

SP2Bx · 26/08/2021 15:29

100% @MrsMcNtobe ! Better to have the information now so when posed with the question mid-labour you already sort of know what they're talking about, than have a load of info thrown at you in the moment and not be in any state to make a sound decision!

Absolutely abysmal service, and so sorry to hear it seems to be the same all over!

SouthwestSis · 26/08/2021 15:31

Sorry to hear you're feeling more unwell @crobo87, had you managed to have a jab at all before you caught it? Be sure to seek medical attention if you have any chest pain or shortness of breath.

36 week appointment sounds like it's been very underwhelming for a few people, would you consider calling the midwife to chat through birth plan type thoughts over the phone?

MrsMcNtobe · 26/08/2021 16:12

@SouthwestSis I don’t have that option where I live, I’ve heard of people being able to call/text their midwife but unfortunately I wasn’t given any of that information only the phone number for maternity assessment if I have any problems ☹️

CherLW · 26/08/2021 16:29

Thank you all so so much for the messages!! It’s so hard to tag you all!!

Jesse George Whyte was born 26/08/2021 at 07:07 weighing 6lb 9oz and I couldn’t be more in love 💙

It was quite traumatic at the end but he’s here and I couldn’t be happier! I’m in the ward now and staying over night so hopefully home time tomorrow xxx

Mamabearwhere · 26/08/2021 16:44

@CherLW aww congratulations !!! So pleased for you and hope you’re enjoying your newborn cuddles and that you get to go home soon xx
