@Positive21 I've just booked a early scan too tell me I'm not jinxing it please I should be around 8 + 3 too x

Positive21 · 01/09/2021 14:50

@EJLM you're not jinxing it!

As hard as it is, if anything is going to go wrong then it wouldn't be our faults. But I'm also just trying to be positive. I (and you all!) deserve this happiness. Our babies will stick and be happy and healthy Thanks

maymum94 · 01/09/2021 14:54

@Positive21 that's all you can do is try stays positive. They way I look at is right now I'm pregnant and. Thank god that I am. If something were to happen fingers crossed it doesn't. It hasn't yet so right now all the matter is I'm pregnant. Take each day as it comes these next month may drag out last time I felt pregnant fit 3 years 😅

@maymum94 you are so right! This is such a blessing and I feel so incredibly happy and grateful right now, I just want to enjoy it!

Also battling when to tell family, I think I'll likely cave before the first scan but it would be amazing to have a scan to show them!

Sending you lots of positive vibes ❤️

maymum94 · 01/09/2021 15:22

@Positive21 I've only told my mum and BFF as I would tell them if something went wrong. I'm going to wait u til at least a scan but may wait until 12 week to tell rest of family I didn't tell people until 20weeks last time just to be sure we knew what we were having by that stage too. But kept that a secret 🤫

Honestly my advice before at least 12 weeks ladies is only tell people your comfortable telling if things go wrong after 12 weeks it is safer but 20 weeks is much better I never did an announcement on social media until then only family knew before 20 weeks.

@Positive21 @maymum94

Your both so right positive thoughts always.. this is my 2nd so you think I would be better at this! the 1st trimester is always the slowest.

Positive21 · 01/09/2021 15:31

@maymum94 thank you. This will be my first and I think everyone is very excited at the idea! I would be happy for my parents/brother and sister and my OH's parents to know but there is a bit of awkwardness between us and his brothers partner so I don't really want to tell them too soon if that makes sense. But I wouldn't dream fo telling my sister and not letting my OH tell his brother.

@EJLM it's my first ever so I'm incredibly new to all of this! I came off of contraception after 15 years, in March, but didn't start trying until July. I never expected it to happen this quickly (2nd cycle) especially as I'm 31, FTM and had been on contraception for so long!

EJLM · 01/09/2021 16:06

@Positive21 I think tell who you are comfortable knowing I don't think there is no right or wrong.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 01/09/2021 16:12

Definitely agree positive thoughts! One thing that helped me last time was thinking that even if something did go wrong there is literally not one single thing I can do about it so I just need to get on with it. Stressing won’t do anything other than make me feel bad. Easier said than done but I guess the idea that it is out of my hands helps me.

AllyCat31 · 01/09/2021 18:28

Called the midwife booking line today and have my first appointments. Also second day now I’ve had nausea and yesterday I fell asleep at 2:30 in the afternoon - please tell me others at 4/5 weeks are already feeling like this? I thought it wouldn’t start till 6 weeks at least!

Going to have to tell some family soon as we are moving in with them while we break the chain property wise. Was going to give them a cB digital as a moving in gift (that I’ve peed on obviously) as a way to tell them. How long do the displays work for? I don’t want to wrap up a test if it goes blank after a few hours 🤣

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 01/09/2021 18:46

@AllyCat31 it says on their website that a positive result will stay on the screen for 6 months however I did one last week and it disappeared within a few days so I’d wait until you’re about to give it to them.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 01/09/2021 20:02

@AllyCat31, I've needed a nap nearly every day since my BFP. The day of I was too excited to sit still much less nap, but starting the following afternoon, I snoozed at least a little each day. It's ok because we're on holiday, but not sure how this will shape up once I'm back at my desk.

LS2020 · 01/09/2021 21:28

@Positive21 I’ve been checking for blood all day I’m such a nightmare! This is my first too and struggling to stay reasonable. It’s good to book in the early scan, gives you something to focus on! I’ve told my BFF and a couple of work colleagues who knew I was doing IVF and covered for me while I was doing treatment but yeah I would keep to a circle that you’re comfortable sharing with any bad news. Family I will probably try wait til 12 weeks but my mum knew I was doing IVF so suspect she may try and nose soon 😂

@AllyCat31 my digital from last week lasted about a day and a half - I was fuming! Not sure what I was going to do with like but still 😂 I’ve needed a nap but it’s month end at work so I’ve been doing 13 hour days instead! 😫 rest and do what’s right for you!

@EJLM that’s reassuring about the first trimester, I feel like it’s dragginggggg! I know it will go quick though as I’m on holiday weeks 10-12 so I’ll be able to come back and start telling people and then it’s the run up to Xmas which always flies!

Mel1917 · 01/09/2021 21:52

Found out I was pregnant last week and if I’ve worked it out correctly due the 3rd of May 2022! Not great planning as my first child’s birthday is the 5th of May! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Just thought I'd throw in a reminder (while we're all busy Googling everything with first trimester anxiety!) that it's important to take advantage of any sunny weather coming up in the next month. Vitamin D from sunlight is really important in pregnancy, and as we're all due May babies, and given Covid some of us may not have had big summer holidays this year, we need to take advantage of any sunny days between now and the end of September before we get trapped in winter darkness!

My 2 DC are Autumn babies so I haven't had this problem before, but with a family history of osteoporosis I don't want to take any chances Smile.

AllyCat31 · 02/09/2021 06:12

Hopefully if I do it the day before or that morning then it will still show up. How ridiculous they don’t last longer than a few days! Thank you for the replies @MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat @aNewYorkerInLondon @LS2020 I’ve still been exercising but taking it easier and my energy levels seem okay but then I get tired at 2 and then by 5 I’m done… but I’m having to pack to move house after work. It’s a disaster!

Positive21 · 02/09/2021 08:26

@LS2020 I've decided I'm going to try and break it down into mini sections. So it's just 12 days until I'm 6 weeks and then my scan is booked for 17 days after that. It seems a bit more manageable that way.

I think I will likely keep taking pregnancy tests but will try to limit myself! I have one clear blue left which I'm going to take today 😅 (I'll be 16DPO), and then two first responses. I know I shouldn't keep testing but I think for me, it will help knowing I can POAS in a few days etc 😂

@RosettaTheGardenFairy Thank you for that. I'm taking vitamin D tablets along side my folic acid but I love the sun so it's a shame it's been a cloudy summer!

@Dollface20 I'm not struggling to fall asleep but definitely waking up before any of my alarms and feeling tired but not able to drift back off! With the NIPT test, I'll admit what it screens for is something I'm concerned about.

Celina94 · 02/09/2021 08:32

@RosettaTheGardenFairy thank you so much for that. I've been religiously taking my folic acid but have slacked a bit with vitamin D but definitely going to make the most of the next month of sunshine. I really hope September is a sunnier month!

Celina94 · 02/09/2021 08:34

5 + 1 weeks today and I can now say that the nausea and metallic taste have kicked in! Have my scan tomorrow as I had some brown discharge last week so I'm eagerly waiting ... but I guess these symptoms have made me feel a little reassured!

Emily199034 · 02/09/2021 09:53

Good Morning

Am I okay to Join? Got my BFP on Monday 4 days early. Currently 4 weeks today, think I am due around the 12/13 of May. This will be my first so super excited and super nervous all at the same time haha.

Star1995 · 02/09/2021 09:58

I'm currently 5+1 days pregnant -should be due around 4th may 2022 but I took another clear blue digital this morning and it still only says 1-2 weeks which has really worried me especially as I have had two previous miscarriages 🙁

EmilyMay89 · 02/09/2021 10:08

@Emily199034 same as me! I'm still processing and go from being super excited to thinking of practical things like I'll need to get a new car!!

haz452 · 02/09/2021 10:41

@Star1995 Can you call the doctors and get them to do a test? I am due the 3rd of may and every couple of days am taking tests! Fingers crossed everything is ok for you x
