Can I join?

Finally got my BFP yesterday day AF was due after 8 months trying following a miscarriage in December. So super nervous about this pregnancy.

Already been to see the doctor today at 4+1 which he seemed to find amusing, but oh well. Due date so far is calculated at May 7. Fingers crossed.

Rtmhwales · 31/08/2021 00:28

I'm so jealous reading about the private early scans. I've moved abroad to Canada and they don't do private scans anywhere unless you've had a proper medical dating scan by your doctor.. which they'll do around 8 weeks, so I guess that's that. I know realistically the date doesn't make a difference and getting one at 6 weeks when I previously miscarried at 7 weeks would be pointless but I just really want to see a happy baby with its heart beating away.

Have a scan booked 28 September so just have to be patient and cross my fingers and toes. It's hard isn't it?

LS2020 · 31/08/2021 07:24

@maymum94 oh you poor thing! I’ve had such a bad wave this morning but forced my breakfast down and that seems to be keeping it at bay.

@aNewYorkerInLondon Im finding smoothies so helpful at the moment, can sip on as I feel sick - the blue machine naked smoothie is my fav by far but obviously can only have a glass a day. I know what you mean on the thinking about, I return to work (found out on holiday about BFP) today and can not summon any encouragement to go 😂

@Rtmhwales oh bless you, Tbf id have rang up if I wasn’t still with my clinic today! I had a CP a year ago and I’m so worried but had a stronger line again today so staying hopeful!
That also makes sense how you got a doctor on a bank holiday. Annoying about the scans but the good thing when you do an 8 week scan is you’ve only got a month left and you’re in the second trimester ☺️ I’m on holiday the last two weeks of mine in Greece so excited that the time will fly by and we can announce when back

aNewYorkerInLondon · 31/08/2021 07:24

Ladies in UK: I have my first anti natal appointment set for when I'll be about one day shy of seven weeks, at my GP surgery. What should I've cover at this appointment? (Things are done rather differently in the US, so I'm not sure what to expect.)

@Rtmhwales : I would hope that your doc would have a little more compassion and not think your valid excitement and nerves are funny! If that continues, maybe find a new doc?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 31/08/2021 07:30

@LS2020 I'm on holiday too! My BFP was the morning we were leaving. This is pretty funny but I refused to unpack my tampons from my suitcase because I don't want to tempt fate! (I rationally understand that leaving them behind does not cause a problem with a pregnancy, but I'm not feeling very rational at the moment! Lol!)

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 31/08/2021 08:47

@aNewYorkerInLondon assuming the first appointment is the booking in appointment with the midwife?

Here is what usually happens at this appointment -

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/finding-out/your-first-midwife-appointment/

I haven’t heard about when my appointment will be yet. Will probably hear from them soon.

maymum94 · 31/08/2021 09:09

Welcome and congratulations to any new comers.

Another awful morning sickness along up to run to the toilet bowl.

How is everyone feeling today ?

ninadust · 31/08/2021 09:19

Oh no @maymum94 - I hope you feel better soon Sad x

EmilyMay89 · 31/08/2021 09:45

@maymum94 oh no I hope it goes away soon! I'm still just a bit crampy and very sore boobs, went over a pot hole this morning in the car and that was very painful!!

AllyCat31 · 31/08/2021 10:01

I went for a run this morning and felt really out of breath so took it very easy, dropped my distance and pace. Had my first wave of nausea about half an hour ago and was left with the worst taste in my mouth. I’m only 4 weeks! Surely it’s too early for this haha but my line at 14DPO is darker this morning so I’m very happy

Due May 22
MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 31/08/2021 10:10

@maymum94 sorry to hear about the morning sickness. Hope it eases up soon.

I feel pretty normal at the moment. Other than a bit of cramping I could easily forget that im pregnant. Would actually like a few symptoms for some reassurance!

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 31/08/2021 11:10

@maymum94 - it's the worst isn't it?! I'm the same as you, another day crouched on the bathroom floor wishing those toilet carpet things were still in fashion so I didn't get cold knees.

I read there's an apparent correlation between morning sickness and travel sickness. So if, like me, you dry heave at the mere mention of a boat you're more inclined to get morning sickness than, for example, somebody who can merrily read a book while travelling backwards on a train. No idea if it's true, but fits for me.

maymum94 · 31/08/2021 11:13

@RosettaTheGardenFairy it's horrible isn't it. I've been search for my anti sickness bands I used this a lot last time around they do help the pressure point ones if you want to try. Couldn't find them so I'm probably go buy some more. I've sent my gp a message to discuss my treatment of Hyperemesis as I'm convinced already with how I am it's started. This is how I knew I was pregnant last time I was bed ridden for weeks and I can't this time as I have a 15month old so I need to be okay for her.

OP posts:
LS2020 · 31/08/2021 11:28

@aNewYorkerInLondon I did the same! I took my handbag pad and that was it 😂

@maymum94 feel better soon! I’m a bit less cramps today but read can be due to dehydration and I drank a lot less yesterday for travelling so trying to keep hydrated.
Ooh you’ve reminded me some one told me the car sickness bands work well so might try find some on Amazon ☺️

@AllyCat31 your lines look so like mine - lovely to see! I’m “15dpo” and my nauseas kicked in so it’s never too early sadly.

AllyCat31 · 31/08/2021 11:31

That’s good to hear @LS2020 I’m just nervous they’re going to fade! I’m gonna do another FRER in two days to be sure and then I’m gonna stop cause I’ll just make myself worse

EJLM · 31/08/2021 13:42

Hi, please can I join I got my BFP last week I'm just over 4 weeks due around 5-7th may I had a chemical last month so not exactly sure until I've had a scan. feeling scared due to last months chemical. this is my 2nd my LB is 18 months. I didn't find out with him until after 6 weeks so will wait and call docs then I think. congratulations everyone :) x

LS2020 · 31/08/2021 15:21

@AllyCat31 I’m the same - I want a 2-3 weeks on a digital Friday and I may get better 😂 if I do, I’m going to try hold out for another week, do a final digital and then I should only be 2 weeks away from scan so I’ll calm… in theory!

@Dollface20 I’ve had my jabs, I had my second one during my IVF treatment and obviously been no ill effects from it. I can see people wanting to wait til the 12 week mark to have though.

@Fortheloveofscience hi, due date buddies! Congratulations ☺️

@EJLM I had one a year ago and I’m still super nervous! Every pregnancy is different and know loads of people who went on to have a successful cycle straight off a CP 🤞🏻

summertimes2021 · 31/08/2021 15:34

Plucked up the courage to refer to the midwife team today. They were very kind and reassuring after I had to call last month and cancel due to CP. I have had lots of dark cheap preg tests now. But still not relaxed could do with a bit of morning sickness for reassurance or any symptom would be great 😌

Cartref30 · 31/08/2021 15:50

@summertimes2021 oooh well done! I haven’t braved it yet. I have the unusual issue that a family member is one of the midwives in my local trust although not my hospital… I’m scared they’ll be able to see my self referral. Will she?! I haven’t told much closer family yet.

Cartref30 · 31/08/2021 16:22

Probably only unusual for me though - sure she and a lot of other people have had it happen before and I’m overthinking it!

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 31/08/2021 16:46

@Cartref30 I wouldn’t have thought she’d be able to see it but hopefully not. My mil was desperate for us to have a baby and was a doctors receptionist when I got pregnant with ds1 and I was convinced she’d get some sort of alert as soon as I registered my pregnancy 😂 if she did she kept it to herself

stephlouwaz · 31/08/2021 19:59

Hey everyone, I'm 5+2 and I'm worried I haven't got any sickness or anything really, anything would be a good sign!
I've booked in with the midwife for 3 weeks time :)
