Luawei · 08/09/2021 06:38

@Hope91 4+2 here and also suffering from insomnia! I lay in bed at night and my stomach is gurgling away, full of wind and occasional cramps!!
I'm usually an 8 hours sleep a night kind of girl so I feel like a zombie! Grin already panicking what I'm going to be like if everything goes to plan with lack of sleep! 😂 X

Hope91 · 08/09/2021 06:39

Little update from me I am 4+4 today :) absolute nervous wreck lol! Feeling positive but anxious if that makes sense? We have been trying for 12 months and I was diagnosed with pcos in June and when I went for an ultrasound I was told unlikely to happen naturally so we were waiting for a fertility referral- can’t believe it really :) all being well due 15/05.

In terms of early scans I am so torn. This is my first so I am desperate to hear a heartbeat but I feel like it still won’t put my nerves to rest lol- will I now be anxious forever?! I know I will end up booking one soon. Going to try and delay to 8-9 weeks so can maybe see a little more if I can be patient enough :)

So far I have just told my husband :) you know all these amazing announcement videos? - that’s how I always imagined it- literally total opposite I couldn’t wait so just told him -tried to film it and it was just tragically comical lol we were both just in shock. We are unsure when to tell family but will most likely wait 12-20 weeks if I can keep a secret that long.

Does anyone else feel like the days are so slow since they found out? This year has flown and suddenly since Sunday feels like a year!

I have become addicted to testing to see if the line gets darker- it’s ridiculous and why are pregnancy tests so expensive? Anyone else doing this? I’ve attached my pix so far (13dpo today) and showing as 2-3 weeks on digital this morning. But I will be broke if I don’t keep buying tests haha.

Symptoms for me at the moment are tiredness, sore boobs, cramps. The cramps make me SO anxious.

Hope everyone is well cannot wait to share our journeys together xx

Due May 22
Hope91 · 08/09/2021 06:42

@Luawei that’s exactly it it’s a nightmare isn’t it. I don’t understand how it’s possible to be so tired yet not sleep. Honestly I’ll take the non sleep for a healthy baby though :) but I do hope the insomnia passes :) we are super similar in terms of dates when are you due? It’s crazy knowing so early isn’t it? 12 weeks feels a lifetime away x

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 08/09/2021 07:37

Good morning all Smile

Just thought I'd share a reminder on the 'hook effect' for those still testing. It's when, after 5 weeks, your hcg levels are so high they can overwhelm some FRER dye tests and the result can be fainter lines where you hope to see darker ones. The trick, if you want to keep testing, is to try with diluted urine instead. So a normal afternoon urine instead of fmu is better.

It's why they say dont test after 5 weeks (unless digital) as it can make you panic a bit to see the lines getting lighter!

Hope everyone's well xx

Hope91 · 08/09/2021 07:40

Good morning @RosettaTheGardenFairy thank you so much for sharing that I had no idea. I’m going to try and stop testing after 5 weeks or I will have no money left :) hope you are well xx

SerendipitySunshine · 08/09/2021 07:46

Can I join you please? 5w4d so I think due May 7. Still petrified, testing every day and symptom spotting. It's been a long road getting here with IVF, so really very nervous of a CP.

Positive21 · 08/09/2021 08:14

@Hope91 I've been a bit of a serial tester too, but I'm stopping myself now. I got my dye steal at 20DPO and then tested this morning with a digital and got 3+ (I am 5+1).

Had a missed call from the midwife service yesterday, missed it by a minute! Annoyingly they didn't give a date or a number to call back, just said they would call again so I'm just waiting, but working all week!

Since the back ache and cramps stopped last week I've had no symptoms except my (TMI) nipples are tender 😅 I know it sounds silly but I'm waiting for some kind of aversion or sickness 😂

Hope91 · 08/09/2021 08:44

@SerendipitySunshine congratulations so sorry to hear it’s been a long journey keeping my fingers crossed for a sticky little bean for you :)

@Positive21 it’s abit addictive isn’t it. I’m planning to stop when I get the 3+ and about 5-6 weeks too :) I’m pretty sure I’m going to book an early scan for the 6weeks so hopefully that will keep me going until 12 weeks can :) oh no how annoying about the call. I have been waiting for a call back from the dr since Monday as I will be consultant lead due to a blood clotting condition. Hoping they call today :)

I feel exactly the same it’s sounds crazy doesn’t it wishing for the sickness as I know I’ll wish it away if it arrives x

Luawei · 08/09/2021 09:10

@Hope91 we do sound similar! I'm due 17th May! I've had an initial phone call with a nurse and have my first midwife appointment at 8 weeks. After that I think I may get an early scan because I'm a very impatient!

Also just reading about testing, I never even thought about testing after the initial positive test!

Agnitio · 08/09/2021 09:39

Told my husband yesterday when he got back from work, happy tears in his eyes followed up by 'am i allowed to go to the scans now?'. Calm down dear, GP phonecall first but yes, thankfully partners can go now.

I'm just wondering, we have 2 maternity hospitals within a 5 mile radius, do you get to choose which hospital you want to be under or is it based on postcode? Ive contacted my Gp this morning for an appointment and have no idea what to expect.

Hope91 · 08/09/2021 10:08

@Luawei how exciting to have your first appointment booked :) I had never thought of it before but I’ve been on so many of these groups I’m the last 12 months that I’ve seen others do it to check for ‘line progression’ and it’s in my head now

@Agnitio that is so lovely his response. I’m not sure re hospitals to be honest. Same I have no idea what to expect either hoping they will explain the process when they eventually call me back :)

mrsmop21 · 08/09/2021 11:11

Hey guys, I’ve started bleeding today 2 days late for AF so a chemical for me 😢 good luck everyone in your pregnancies and enjoy your May babies!

LetsDoTheTango · 08/09/2021 11:50

@mrsmop21 I'm so sorry to hear that, please look after yourself Flowers do you have a good support network around you?

@Hope91 thank you for the congratulations, and the same to you on your BFP, so pleased for you Smile I can totally identify with the days dragging by. I'm 6+2 today and time feels like it's crawling. DH and I are away at the minute and don't get back to the UK until mid-September. By then I'll be just under 8 weeks and we'll be telling my sister first as we are very close. We've booked a private scan for 10 weeks and if all is well we'll tell family then, and then friends after the 12 week scan.

My symptoms so far have been really sore, heavy boobs, gigantic nipples(?!), fatigue, back ache and cramps. The cramps really unnerved me at first but I keep telling myself it's just my womb stretching and letting the baby get comfy in there Star I have felt anxious about it though and have been second guessing every twinge, so I can totally relate to how you're feeling.

@Positive21 you're not alone with the tender nipples 😂 mine are really sensitive, it's so weird! I had a week or so without cramps and then they came back, so my symptoms are very much coming and going at the moment.

I've also been hit by nausea and sickness this week, it's absolutely awful. I feel queasy all day, every day, and the only thing that helps take the edge off is eating every one to two hours. I'm trying to eat as healthily as possible but a lot of fruit and veg is just turning my stomach Sad I feel like, if I carry on like this I'm going to be the size of a house - and I'm already obese according to the BMI scale. That's the one thing that's been playing on my mind since I got my BFP. I'm about five stone overweight and was just starting to lose some of it when I got my BFP. I hate that I'm putting my baby at increased risk because of my size, but I've had a rough 18 months with my mental health and sadly haven't been looking after myself, so the weight piled on. Thankfully I am feeling so much better in my mind now (thanks to medication) but I am struggling with the idea of being an obese mum. Is anyone else in the same boat?

@maymum94 how are you feeling? Has the medication had any effect yet? I can't imagine how tough it is to feel so unwell and have a toddler to look after too. I'm glad you have your mum for support right now Flowers

@Agnitio that is so sweet of your husband, how lovely! Mine is looking forward to coming to the scans too. His brother and sister in law had a baby earlier this year but their pregnancy journey was tough due to the Covid restrictions. I hope it'll be easier for us all now the rules have relaxed a little Smile and re hospitals, as far as I'm aware you can choose to have your baby wherever you want. I had three options local to me and researched them all (there are reviews you can read online). My midwife said all three were a good choice though which is reassuring. The one we have gone for has positive reviews and a midwife led birth centre, and is also in the town we used to live in so we are familiar with how to get there etc. I think my DH is very pleased he won't have the added stress of not knowing where he's going when I'm sat in the passenger seat in labour Grin

Have you heard back from your GP yet about your first midwife appointment? They booked mine for 5+2 which I thought was early (I was worried I'd get told off!) but the midwives were so lovely. They measured my height and weight, took my blood pressure, did a blood test and that was it. The next day, they called me to go through a questionnaire all about my health, my DH's health and family health history. They also booked my 16 week appointment over the phone. That's the next time I'll see them in person, and it seems a long way off. They did say I could contact them with any concerns or questions in the meantime. Since then I've also had a letter through the post with my 12 and 20 week scan dates, so it's all moving along. Obviously it might be different where you are but that's what the process has been for me Smile

How are all the other May mummies feeling?

Positive21 · 08/09/2021 12:12

@mrsmop21 hope you are ok as can be

@Hope91 yes it is! I'm going to stop now. I have three weeks and two days till my early scan and that feels like a lifetime away!

@LetsDoTheTango I could have written your second paragraph myself! Last year was pretty vile for me. Everything that helps me cope with stress was changed or taken away (seeing friends, going to the gym, riding my horse etc) and allowed me to focus on a huge personal issue (I'd explain but don't want to post publicly 😂). It's just been a total whirlwind or emotions and things to digest. But I have no intention of being this stress and anxiety into my current life. I've worked hard to improve my mental health because of all of this so have no intention of going back there.

As a result of all of that and my horse having to be retired, my MH took a total nose dive. I also changed jobs from active to sedentary so have gained back 8-10lbs I lost at the start of last year so I'm currently 12st at 5'6" which isn't awful, but isn't great, more weight than I'm comfortable with.

I'm sure all will be ok though. As long as us and our babies are happy and healthy 💕

Balajake · 08/09/2021 12:37

I should be 13dpo and my tests don't seem much darker than they were on Sunday. I'm seeing the midwife Friday but probably because I'm diabetic they put me on insulin within the first 6 weeks. I honestly don't know why my tests aren't getting dark

Due May 22
maymum94 · 08/09/2021 13:10

A tip ladies if you are worried about your lines. So I find the cheap ovulation tests better because there more sensitive. If your pregnant them do beaming lines if it's only a small amount of hcg or your levels are lowing it will pick it up before the pregnancy test because they've designed them to be accurate for the surge of LH in our body's so they can pick up the hcg hormones better and earlier. If the lines are anything but beaming then sometime is up. Each 24/48 our hcg hormones double so it can tell if there is a slight drop and if early signs of miscarriage can be caught in them but the lines changing. They can promote ovulation tests as pregnancy as they are designed for ovulation but in my opinion they work better. My last pregnancy I used one every day until my scan and no chance I've been doing the same this time too.

Welcome anyone new so lovely to have you join us and congratulations 🎉

I think someone said something about the FB - Join that whenever you feel comfortable too, know it's private so no one can see to it in it too.

My sickness is still awful and I'm feeling terrible all day my poor girl is missing out on me so much already please get me to 12 weeks to start the proper medication I need to get well.

Hope everyone is well and doing okay?

OP posts:
maymum94 · 08/09/2021 13:13

Suppose to say can't promote them**

OP posts:
Celina94 · 08/09/2021 13:32

@maymum94 just for reference would you consider this beaming? The test line being stronger than the control but control is still quite visible? Just took one now to have a look x

Due May 22
maymum94 · 08/09/2021 13:57

Yep that's beaming to me this is mine the last 3 days as you see no change whatsoever.

Celina94 · 08/09/2021 14:33

@maymum94 Okay great! Thank you for the tip. I have so many of them will save me some money and they won't just sit there forever haha x

babyboybluex · 08/09/2021 14:41

4+1 today and we have moved up the digital! What a relief.

I totally empathise with those testing each day to see the progress! I never thought I'd be that crazy testing woman, yet here we are. If you have to do it for peace of mind, you do you. I agree, it is so bloody expensive Shock

We have booked a private scan for 7 weeks when my partners mum is over from Denmark. She missed out on our first pregnancy with our son and hasn't even met him yet - the end of the September will be the first time she sees him as well as hopefully seeing her second grandchild on a screen! I'm so nervous and excited to surprise her x

Due May 22
maymum94 · 08/09/2021 15:14

@Celina94 that's exactly how I see it there so cheap I did the same last time just to use them up. I find it reassuring until you can get to the first scan at least. And compared to pregnancy test which cost a fortune.

@babyboybluex congratulations 🎉

OP posts:
Jojo7979 · 08/09/2021 15:27

@Hope91 thank you and congratulations to you too. I am totally with you on the tiredness. All day I’m tired but go to bed and can’t get to sleep and wake early. I can’t remember this happening when I was pregnant with my little boy but maybe it did and I’ve just forgotten Grin

@Agnitio yes you can choose your hospital, we have the same trust but two hospital sites. I wasn’t happy with my postnatal care at the site I had my baby at a couple of years ago so thinking of going to the other site but as it’s the same trust not sure it will make any difference
