@Peachi82 I’d like to join please xx

catinthehat12 · 08/10/2021 19:56

Also starting to shop/keep an eye on sales, this is my first so any brands that people really recommend for different necessities would be useful! I have been back and forth on bedside cribs, I think i like the next2me magic the most, but not set on anything so if anyone has anything similar for a better price.

@becarefuloutthere the private fetal medicine dr I saw for my nipt actually said the 20 week anatomy scan is better at 22 weeks as it's possible to see more. So if we opted for a private one, he recommended wait til then.

We didn't because the nhs one was good, but I don't think it's like the 12 week one where it needs to be as close to 12 as possible or messes up the nuchal measurement.

2under2howscary · 09/10/2021 15:29

The next to me magic really is lush! I've got a new one for this DS :) Moses baskets are a bit useless tbh. I'd recommend a travel cot with a bassinet xx

2under2howscary · 09/10/2021 15:30

Also my son was born in october. He wore a long sleeved vest, babygrow and 2.5 tog sleep bag. Light blanket next to his feet x

2under2howscary · 09/10/2021 15:39

@Hope2022 do you want to send me a PM and I'll try sort out the fb Invitation xx

Peachi82 · 09/10/2021 17:24

We had a next to me borrowed of our friends last time. It wasn't magic though.
When he was 6 months, we got a cot bed and just took one side off.
I'm hoping we get the next to me borrowed again and another friend offered me a snuz pod. We will see what will be more useful (as the cot bed is still occupied, he does sleep in his own room from time to time, but when he has a cold or a nightmare or whatever, he's back in with us).

We had a Moses basket for downstairs. When he was too big for this, I got the Nuna leaf chair second hand which was really good and lasted him ages.

lililou · 09/10/2021 21:07

How do I join the FB group?

Turned 22 weeks this week, have an anterior placenta and have been feeling what I think might be little movements up until now but very hard to distinguish between that and regular wind. Anyway today for first time I actually felt it slightly with my hand over my tummy and partner did too. Was nice for him to feel some of the strange sensations. This is our first so all new to me.

ItsMeantToBe · 09/10/2021 21:59

@catinthehat12 I recommend Mam bottles (and dummies if you choose to use them). Go for skincare/bath products from brands like Aveeno and Child's farm rather than Johnson's. Any baby grow with turn over mittens and feet, and ideally a zip rather than buttons! Also Grobag (or similar) swaddle bags, they're amazing. We used a Moses basket downstairs and a crib upstairs for our DS but we've bought a Chicco Next To Me this time, so fingers crossed baby likes it!

Is anyone else's bump feel really tight/uncomfortable? I just can't get comfy in any position and it just feels so heavy!

2under2howscary · 10/10/2021 10:38

I dont know whether to buy a second cotbed or not. DS will be 20 months when DS2 will move into a cot. So he could have his brothers cotbed and I could buy a toddler bed for older DS. But, I worry DS1 wont be ready to move out of his cot by then..m

Peachi82 · 10/10/2021 11:42

You can decide when the time comes 2under2.
Maybe your older one is then ready for one of these lovely floor house beds?

No idea about bottles. We had one which was in a free pack, I think it was a Tommee Tippee one. Dummies we had Avent, but I've not seen them in the supermarkets recently. Not sure if we still have a spare pack. The Easter bunny took all the dummies and brought a fire engine instead.

0Scapes · 10/10/2021 15:42

@ItsMeantToBe how come you’d recommend staying away from Johnson’s (just curious and love the smell 😂).

I’ve been feeling the same as well regarding bump. Think the space is running out now so there’s some serious stretching going on! It also feels really warm - does anyone else get that??

I painted my toenails yesterday and don’t think it’s going to be long before I have to ask someone else to do it for me!!

pusscous · 10/10/2021 16:18

@0Scapes I don't use Johnson's at all despite being raised using it and parents still raving about it. I gave the brand a wide birth because at the time of my choice, 2014, for my eldest, it was full of sls, silicones and parabens all things I didn't want on my baby.

At that time Waitrose own brand nappy cream and bath wash was award winning for its natural/ gentle approach. I've also used Honest brand when I was in California and this time I've bought some things from Neals Yard. French products are very full of chemicals and artificial scent so I avoid. Oh and I had some things from Kokoso coconut products

I think it's an individuals take on the paraben/sls etc but that's my thoughts.

highstreetdiestreet · 10/10/2021 16:27

Johnson's have had a huge shake up recently

Peachi82 · 10/10/2021 16:34

Weleda stuff is good as well. The nappy cream is good.
Overall babies don't need much cleaning stuff. Water, maybe some olive oil or some breastmilk is usually enough.

You can still get the pressure washer out when they start eating solids.

0Scapes · 10/10/2021 17:34

@pusscous oh wow, you’d like to assume if something’s for babies it wouldn’t have all that rubbish in it!!

CucumberCool · 10/10/2021 18:36

The biodegradable nappies I'm planning to use in the first few weeks, are on offer.

Is buying 4 packs of 25, in newborn size (up to 11lb) too many?

Will baby have grown out of them before I get through them all?

Hoping to move on to reusables asap so don't want a surplus of disposables.

ItsMeantToBe · 10/10/2021 18:53

@0Scapes TBH I've never really trusted Johnson's since the baby powder lawsuit. I've found Aveeno stuff brilliant for my DS's skin. As @Peachi82 said, babies apparently don't need cleaning products for their first year. I mainly just used body lotion for baby massage etc.

JourneyToParenthood · 10/10/2021 19:00

@Peachi82

I think they try to book them early, so there is time for a repeat before 24 weeks. I'm not very familiar with the law, but I think not every detected condition allows for a termination beyond 24 weeks? I might be wrong though.

@Facebook group:
Has everyone got an invite who wanted one?

Hi could I join the FB group please? I am 21 weeks ☺️ really struggle to use this app! Thanks
becarefuloutthere · 10/10/2021 22:24

@babywipes @Peachi82 @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thank you so much ladies! I got booked in for weds when I'll be 21+1 so hopefully all will be good 😊
@lililou same as me with the movements! Dh felt her today, was so lovely! Got all emosh 😅 our first too.
@ItsMeantToBe I'm not comfy at night at all! Going to get a pregnancy pillow soon! Still waking up in the night for wees too, I guess that just doesn't stop now?!

feb2022 · 11/10/2021 07:12

Ohh I've got loads of this thread to catch up on 😅
Weve been snowed under with this bloody bug/cold that's doing the rounds my boys have been soo poorly! And super clingy!
My oldest has been talking about babies a lot, so I got him a little doll to look after, and last night he put it in the Moses basket with a little teddy and said night night baby love you! 😭
Had a little lump in my throat he's so affectionate, middle one is like wreck it Ralph 😂
Ohhh it's scan day for me today ladies the nerves have kicked in big time 😅
I hope your all well, I'm gonna catch up on here with a cup of tea once I've got the big boy off to nursery (hoping he is well enough when he gets up)

Winterfellismyhome · 11/10/2021 13:44

Hope your scan went well @feb2022. Hopefully your little ones feel better soon Thanks

Hello, I have a really weird question to ask! I keep getting this really strange feeling that I can only describe as an overwhelming thirst. I'm getting it more and more often but it only lasts about 30 seconds at a time and is nearly always linked to me feeling baby move. It doesn't matter how much I've drink, as in I'm certain it's not my body telling me I'm dehydrated. I've had a Google and I can't really find anything that matches (there is something similar linked to breastfeeding) and I don't see a midwife for a few weeks still but I wondered if anyone else is experiencing anything similar?!

LadyBecks22 · 12/10/2021 18:17

@MStarG I haven’t had quite the same but I’ve definitely been feeling more thirsty despite drinking lots of water, going to the loo more frequently, feeling a bit uncomfortable in my bladder so I called my midwife (same as you - not seeing them for a few weeks). She prescribed antibiotics because, for me, there were enough symptoms of a UTI and they don’t tend to wait about to have it officially diagnosed. Doesn’t sound the same as what you’re experiencing but I found having a chat with the midwife, given it’s a while til my next appointment, was super helpful and reassuring.

Jellybean023 · 14/10/2021 23:14

@PrettyPlatapus if memory serves I was getting through at least 10 a day to start with so probably not too many unless you have a really big baby.
