@overtherainbo that is some major preparation done!! Baby’s room is bare at the moment and needs to be replastered, painted and carpeted before we even think about furniture. I’m just worried that times ticking now!!

Does anyone here work nights at all? I struggle with them anyway but now I find them just awful. Hardly any sleep so next to no concentration. I’ve spoken to occupational health and they’ve said there’s no ‘medical need’ for me to stop nights. I was hoping they might be a bit more supportive. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?

merryhellbrokeloose · 30/08/2021 12:22

Im not going to buy anything, rather going to dig out my son's baby things. Most of which were worn once, or not at all!

@Winterfellismyhome that’s really good. I’m glad they’ve done that for you! I’m thinking of going to my GP and seeing if there’s anything they might be able to recommend.

Jellybean023 · 30/08/2021 14:05

I’m 15 weeks 4 days and the last few days have been completely lacking in energy - I can barely move off the sofa. I remember feeling like this in my last pregnancy but I’m sure it was much earlier. Really hope it goes away soon - I thought the second trimester was meant to be the easy one!!

I also weighed myself this morning and found I’ve gained almost a stone already! I shouldn’t be surprised as I’ve been eating all sorts, and completely given up thinking about what / how much I eat since discovering I was pregnant, but OMG!!! I’m terrified I’ll end up like a whale. Trying to remember back to last time and don’t think I’d gained this much by this point though I did gain nearly 3 stone overall most of which fell straight off after giving birth.

Anyone else feeling like this?

miracle2022 · 30/08/2021 15:21

@Jellybean023 I'm a week behind you and feel the same. Achy / stretchy and today has probably been the worst - I'm just lying on the sofa having lemon and ginger tea as I'm feeling so uncomfortable - it's different to period pains as it's at the side of my abs / hips and front. Round ligament pain when I googled it apparently? Almost resorted to tears but feeling slightly better at the moment. Hope you're ok x

Winterfellismyhome · 30/08/2021 15:30

@0Scapes definitely. Hope you manage to get something sorted

@merryhellbrokeloose a company trying to sell something. As if we aren’t all being advertised at enough already! 😅

Had my 16 week appointment today. Midwife told me that all i had to do was say i wanted a c section at my consultant appointment at 34 weeks and it'll all be scheduled for me. Massive relief that i dont have to fight for it

Hi all,

I've been logged out of my account for weeks so missed loads but jusT checking in to say hope everyone is well!

I'm 18 weeks tomorrow. Can't believe how fast it is going! Not told work yet. Started telling a few more people but there's still some family that don't know.

CurlyWurlyTwos · 31/08/2021 11:35

@Lowkeyloopy I didn't think to ask! I've arranged with work to have the morning off now, I don't want to mess everyone about - I got all organised for my 21wk scan. Another 5 weeks to go (sigh) - I'm 16 weeks.

I was toying with going for a private scan, but have heard varying experiences. I have started to feel little flutters in the evenings now 💕. So I might hold out and wait for the NHS one.

O wow, I'm impressed with the organisation of mums here! I've ONLY just ordered mat jeans for myself 🙈! I am purposely not browsing baby items, I'd cave! I'm also planning to hold off until after 20 wks if I can.

O - does anyone have any maternity leggings recommendations?

CurlyWurlyTwos · 31/08/2021 11:37

@decafforme

We've also only just started telling people! I'm a bit older, so more cautious. Only my manage knows at work.

Waiting until 20 weeks here.....!

decafforme · 31/08/2021 11:42

@CurlyWurlyTwos I'm nervous also, I had 3 Mc before dc1 but was lucky to have a smooth pregnancy first time so hoping the same for this one! I thought the anxiety would be less this time around but it seems not.

Same here, I actually have a development call with work today in which I was going to say but now thinking I will wait until after the 20wk scan.

Rmw99 · 31/08/2021 14:10

Hi girls.
Hope everyone is OK, baby girl is kicking non stop quite hard kicks as well so god knows what it will be like when further a long. Still getting stretching pains and have to be careful when i sneeze.
Both girls will be sharing a room as we're only in a 2 bed but the room is massive so hopefully my nearly 5 year old won't mind although she is fuming its a girl still 🤣

I bought some leggings from loveleggings at a discounted price and they are really nice so I recommend them.

Has anyone had any issues after their first birth to do with intercourse sorry TMI. Midwifes are aware and Iv stated I want a more senior midwife to help assist when pushing. It's just been a nightmare ever since my first I always split after Se* 😪

CNMP · 31/08/2021 14:36

Hey ladies, so glad everyone seems okay.

I have had the most terrible cold over the last week. Various covid tests which were all negative so just a stinking cold to contend with. Been so awful as can’t take much to help so just plodding along.

We popped along to a local baby store today and looked at buggies and furniture which was exciting. I’m currently 16weeks +3 and feeling the odd movement in the evenings. I still have 4 weeks till my scan, and getting itchy feet! Just want to know once again everything is fine.

I bought my first lot of maternity wear last week and was the best decision. Finally feel comfortable! Also baby has lots of clothes but nothing else yet. We are holding out till 20 weeks to start buying the essential big bits!

Anyone else been struck with a summer cold and got some advice? Xx

CaramelWaferAndTea · 31/08/2021 15:10

@0Scapes I also do nights and it’s a bit crap. Currently awake waiting for sleep to kick in pre nights. Hoping to stop around 26/28 weeks but haven’t actually told work about the pregnancy yet.

Glad everyone is feeling OK. I’m just getting a lot of headaches! I’ve bought the baby some new reuseable nappies for when she’s born as I had a hire kit for newborn last time but think it’s probably more cost effective to buy and sell them, especially when I see some on sale.

Loosely planned on ripping out the study and making that into a nursery until the baby is 1 and can move in with her brother - we need to keep a spare room for family visits but luckily much better off than when DC1 was born and we lived in a two bed!

feb220222 · 31/08/2021 15:25

@CurlyWurlyTwos I got some maternity leggings and they were awful and saggy! I just ordered some cheap ones of asos and they have got plenty of stretch in them x

merryhellbrokeloose · 31/08/2021 15:27

ASOS premium mat leggings are lovely. They're not see through!

CurlyWurlyTwos · 31/08/2021 18:59

Thanks @Rmw99 - I've browsed their site and they do look nice, I can't find a working discount code, but taken the plunge anyway! My jeans/trouser/bottom half are getting too uncomfortable!

I had an EMCS with my first, and planning an elective this time (not that I've asked yet 🤣) so can't advise you but my friend had problems like yours for about 1.5 years, and after lots of complaints to gp they had 're-stitch' her as the 1st midwife at the birth had apparently done it completely wrong Confused!

Winterfellismyhome · 31/08/2021 20:34

Just had this beaut little play mat from
H&m delivered. Its lovely and soft if anyone is looking for one

Hi lovelies. I had a car journey that was around 4hrs in which my legs began getting numb & swelling. Do the tight socks really help?
