Feelingpositive - funny how similar we are, both were due April, then mc Sept, now due almost same time, I so hope we both make it this time. My mc wasn't a mmc though, I had bleeding for a couple of days then lost it naturally the day I would have been 11 weeks, had a scan the next day which showed pretty much all gone. So I have no idea if the baby was OK til then, or whether something went wrong earlier without me knowing.

Twilight - I can't count - my mc was 4 months ago, so about 6 weeks or so before you, it's so nice to be able to hear about you ladies doing so well.

Is it usually easy to get an early scan after a mc? If I hang on til then, I'd really like a scan at 6 weeks to hopefully see a heartbeat.

kate2179 · 22/01/2008 15:40

Congratulations splishsplosh! Fantastic news! Hopefully you should find it relatively easy to get an early scan following your mc. I'm hoping to have one on 7th feb when I think I should be 7 weeks exactly. I was fully expecting to have to pay for one so I was quite surprised when the doc said she'd send me for one . Have also had repeat blood tests to check hcg & progesterone - 2nd test today, very nervous but trying to stay positive! If you are worried explain to your gp and ask for help - it can't hurt to ask anyway! Hope to join you on the sept 08 thread soon, too scared at the mo! Don't want to bring anyone down with my terror! Healthy & well to us all

kate2179 · 22/01/2008 15:42

Forgot to say welcome karney! Great that you've made it to 10 weeks, am pretty sure that having seen a heartbeat twice before 10 weeks gives you a very high chance of continuing to have a successful pg

feelingpositive · 22/01/2008 15:44

I agree splishsplosh, it is nice that we can go through the next few weeks together though.

I just called the EPU and they informed me that based on the information they had in the system about my mc in Sept my baby was measuring 9+5 weeks when it had stopped growing (I mc'd after a scan at almost 12 weeks). Funny how I wasn't told that information at the time - it has made me feel a bit to hear the exact time that it had all stopped. And I will be very anxious to get past that point this time. For that reason they are not scheduling an early scan for me until 3 March when I will be 10 weeks. That feels like a lifetime away.

God I hope I don't have a disappointment again...

Katelyn · 22/01/2008 15:48

justjules

10wks, 4 days - also bled heavily on Sunday and yesterday. Paid for a scan and all is well. I have a low lying placenta so internal's (of any form!!!) can irritate it.

Much to my disbelief, i have pictures to prove that I have a healthy little baby kicking and waving with a strong heart rate...

You'll be fine - plenty of rest.

MrsMcJnr · 22/01/2008 16:10

Still here ladies do have some crampy pains but nothing like I imagine contractions to feel like ? hey ho. Maybe the full moon will bring it on!

Gracie14 ? hang on in there hon, sending lots of positive vibes your way

Thanks Kate BM?s baby looks so gorgeous, I wish I could see her in the flesh I think the AN threads are actually a really good place to get some balance. I found I really needed this thread to voice all my fears and for comfort but I also needed the upbeat excitement of the AN threads where no one ever believes anything bad will happen. Join when you feel ready

Nervousal ? oh hon sending huge hugs, I hope it?s not what you think. Can you get a scan for a week?s time to see what?s going on in there? I agree with MOM, that test will probably still show as positive either way x

Thanks for that push Jules before you know it, it?ll be your turn to push

Goingfor3 ? I would have told FIL I?d done it on purpose!

All the best to VictorVictoria

Positive vibes to you all xx

MrsMcJnr · 22/01/2008 16:12

Sorry ladies, seemed to miss a chunk of messages thank you all for your good vibes for me x

Bouncingturtle · 22/01/2008 19:01

Just thought I would check in to say good luck to VictorVictoria, hopefully she is snuggling with her lo!
Still rooting for you MrsMc! Try dancing around the living room - it worked for me!!!

Big hello to all the new ladies, I'm still watching over you all and wish you lots of happy, boring pg vibes. Hoping so much that you all will be where I am now, with a precious little gift.

Haven't posted for ages but am reading all the time!

Mrsmc- COME ON BABY!!!

I'm now 12+2.

Had a bit of spottng (well, blood when i wiped) 11 days ago - had scan, all ok. then sunday i had a gush of blood. Was convinced all was over cos it seemed a lot, though it did tial off. and as it was a Sun night decided to sit tight cos we had a scan booked at FMC for Monday morning..... Amazingly baby was still fine!!!! Wow!!!

Jules I've been thinking about you a lot. Would you be able to tell me all about your experiences and occasions of bleeding this pg. Could do with some of that Jules-wisdom!

Glad everyone is doing ok.

splishsplosh · 22/01/2008 19:45

FP - i think I'll go to the GP and see what they offer. I veere between total optimism that it'll all be fine, and next minute think it's sure to all go wrong.

Kate - I'm with Mrsmcj, I so want to be upbeat and positive and think it'll all be ok, that i thought the an thread would be a good place to be.

I'm clinging on to that statistic of only 5% of women have more than 1 mc... is that right? I so admire Jules for having the strength to keep trying, I'm not sure I could handle that

kate2179 · 22/01/2008 22:13

Think my GP told me 6.25% splishsplosh - but still a lot better than 20% for the first one! 1 in 4 then 2x4 so 1 in 16 which I think is 6.25%, but I definitely heard less than one in 5 on here so am hanging on to that too! Agree with you and MrsMc about how helpful the antenatal threads are, have been lurking A LOT . I know it's silly but we told far too many people last time as we were so excited and then it went wrong, so am keeping really quiet this time. Not even telling parents til after the scan. It's quite wierd how strongly I'm feeling this protective instinct to keep bean safe and almost hidden away, can't really explain it, am probably a bit bonkers! But would hate to scare the other girls on the thread if something does go wrong, not what they need to hear. Fingers crossed I'll be joining you all soon though!

feelingpositive · 22/01/2008 22:16

Splishsplosh - I completely agree, whenever I feel some kind of symptom I feel more positive, but then a extra long cramp has me concerned (possibly from picking up my toddler too much, something I am trying to be extra careful about - even though it probably makes no difference...) too much food for thought at the moment I'm afraid.

Oh my god.... I just heard on the news that Heath Ledger was found dead in hotel room today!!! B'jesus!!!

TJuice · 23/01/2008 08:09

hi ladies

hope you are all doing well.
i am 18 weeks tomorrow and am feeling much better and starting to pop a little (still mainly just podgy though)
i got a doppler and spent ages yesterday covered in goo - wasn't the easiest thing in the world to distinguish my own heartbeat from my baby's but my boyfriend (medical student so must have magic hands) found it so strongly just before i went to sleep - it was so lovely!

i have my 19/20 week scan next week, so kind of looking forward to seeing how we're doing and finding out sex. at the same time, scans are a bit of an ordeal for me - i have to really psych myself up for them.

anyway, i guess i am starting to get into the swing of things. have bought one or two little things for the baby, have been offered my maternity deal from work (6 months at 3/4 pay) then on danish statutory pay up to a year. i think i will have to go back after 7 or 8 months but i work 9-2 so it will be okay. its nice to get that kind of budgeting/details out the way, 'cos i hate worrying about money.

hi karney, good luck mrsmcjr, congrats splishsplosh, wave to sweetkitty (how are you doing?) and hi to everyone else. sorry i haven't been through the thread yet, just wanted to say hi.

goingfor3 · 23/01/2008 08:32

MrsMcJnr hopefully the full moon last night got things going for you!

makecakesnotwar · 23/01/2008 08:45

Thinkng positive for MrsMc: lady at yoga last night got her labour going with castor oil after she tried everything else. And had baby in two hours!!!!

nervousal · 23/01/2008 09:06

Hi all - was back at work yesterday - had to go home early or I would have dropped from tiredness. Back in today- but on half day as I have to take my dd to get her jabs this pm.

I couldn't deal with going in for a scan to be told that there is no baby. I'm going to wait for a week/10 days and then do a pt. Fully expecting a BFN.

Sounds terrible - but we've got so much on at the minute I haven't had the time to think about it - it doesn't seem real. We're in middle of selling our house, my Mums moved in and has job interviews to go to, work is hectic. Don't know if its a good thing or not.

Anyway - hugs and fingers crossed for all of youxxx

kate2179 · 23/01/2008 12:56

Hello ladies

I've just had my latest blood results from yesterday. Hcg has increased really well but progesterone has dropped:

4+0 HCG: 1510 Progesterone: 45.8
4+5 HCG: 7373 Progesterone: 30.6

The doctor wants me to go and give another test tomorrow. She said the diagnosis from the lab isn't 'failing pregnancy' but 'do another test'. If it continues to fall then basically it's all over. Last time (mmc) when my first lot of bloods were taken after the scan showed things hadn't progressed as much as they should the hcg was 69,000 but the progesterone was only 36 (from memory). From what I've seen 45.8 was very high for so early, but it shouldn't be going down...

The doctor said if the levels continue to fall she'lll refer me to a fertility specialist to see if I can get progesterone treatment next time, but I thought there was now research to show that doesn't work?

Has anyone else ever been in this position re low progesterone levels? I'm pretty sure my luteal phase has always been about 13-14 days if that's relevant.

Please help! Can't bear the thought of losing this one as well.

Thanks for all your posts ladies ? I am still here and still getting the same pains I?m seeing the Consultant tomorrow morning to discuss the procedure that I don?t want to think about ? induction hopefully she?ll try another sweep and these pains at the very least will be making me more susceptible to it working, fingers crossed.

Alittlebitshy ? I am so glad your baby is ok, that must have been scary hon xx

Kate ? everything crossed for you hon xx

Makescakesnotwar ? I?ve tried everything but I won?t try that the effects of castor oil on you and the baby are horrible by all accounts!!

goingfor3 · 23/01/2008 18:04

kate2179 I'm so sorry to hear about your preogesterone levels falling. I never had mine measured but my consultant prescribed me pessaries which I took from week 6 to about 14. I'll never know if things would have been different had I not taken them but am glad I did. I was taking Cyclogest 200mg pessaries, 200mg a day then increades to 400mg as I had some more bleeding. A friend who was being seen by the same dr was given three per day. There should be no reason for your dr not to prescribe and make you wait for a fertility specialist. Hopefully you will get better news next time you go back.

Good luck MrsMc, it really won't be long until your baby is in your arms though it will feel like a lifetime while you are waiting!

Thinking of you MrsMc!

sweetkitty · 23/01/2008 21:11

Had booking in appointment this morning heard babies heartbeat and my bump is fine for dates. MW was happy about me having another homebirth too. Have had my scans (was supposed to be booked in for one on the 5th of Feb but since I had to have one at 13 weeks I have had my lot) how rubbish is that? Am paying for private anomoly one in a few weeks though and will find out the flavour too.

MrsMcJnr - hope things kick off for you soon, I tried everything to get DD2 out and nothing worked. Gave up in the end and out she came. Some of them just need a bit more cooking than others, if they are overdue you know they are going to be a good weight strong and healthy. DD2 (who I was pregnant with 4 weeks longer than DD1) was much easier to feed than DD2 I had no worried with her, she seemed so much more robust than little jaundiced straggly DD1.

jules - brilliant news about the booking in as well, and about the flutterings, I have had mine since 12 weeks but I am on no3 so no stomach muscles yet, just wait until minime is battering on your ribs

ALBS - great news about you reaching 12 weeks too and all being fine

kate 2179 - sorry don't have any experience of progesterone levels but just wanted to say I am thinking of you and sending you some sticky positive vibes x

TJuice - glad you are starting to get into it more I know it's so hard but try to relax after your next scan when all is well you can sit back and enjoy the next half of your pregnancy without the worry of the last half x

nervousal - personally I think you should go for the scan the waiting will drive you mad and a pregnancy test could be positive for a few weeks yet (mine was) glad you are keeping busy though, thinking of you too x
