Kate congratulations to you for the BFP. I pulled out my notes so I can hopefully pass along some comfort. I tested just 11DPO(3+5) and got the faintest second line. A girlfriend came over to confirm it because I thought I was seeing things. Note: Shining a flashlight behind the test stick makes the faint line more easily visible (wink). I immediately, that same afternoon, went for bloodwork. I had both HCG and Progesterone tested. So for 11DPO(3+5) my HCG was 41 and Progesterone was 18.7. Those were both high enough to absolutely confirm I was pregnant. For the next three days I POS every morning so I could see the second line get darker and darker and darker. I'd invested in cheap sticks for that very purpose. I had bloods retested by the doctor on 4+4...HCG was 1600. I didn't have the prog retested but I did have a vag scan that day that showed NOTHING. On 5+2 I went back for a second vag scan and saw the sac with a dot in it (see profile pics). By 8+2 baby and heartbeat were clearly visible with vag scan. All the bloodwork and scans really helped ease my fears and slowly led me feel very comfortable about the pregnancy. Between then and now I've done some really fast belly growing, the pains of which SCARED ME TO DEATH. In hindsight I feel a bit silly but MC will do that to you. My thought is just embrace this pregnancy and whatever course it may take. Worrying too much isn't going to change anything and we all know there's nothing that can stop a miscarriage from happening. What will be will be. I'm sure this will be an uneventful 9 months and you'll have a wonderful baby in the end as proof. Again, I'm very happy for you.

kate2179 · 15/01/2008 17:31

Thank you so much Twilight, that's incredibly helpful. Should hopefully get to speak to the doc tomorrow, will ask about progesterone as well as the hcg. I hope to be posting my very own belly pic very soon

feedmenow · 15/01/2008 19:19

Daisy, just wanted to send big hugs to you and your family. Will be thinking of you. xxx

ronshar · 15/01/2008 20:32

Sorry to crash the thread. But I really really wanted to say excellent Jules. I am sooo happy that your little bean is hanging on in style.
Any news from MrsMcJnr??

LardyMardyDaisy · 15/01/2008 23:49

kate, not insensitive at all . Congrats on your bfp and I wish I could help with somthing constructive to say. I had 2 mc's before having my beeeyootiful DD, so the elation of being pregnant is something I can really relate to. I tested 4 days before my AF was due so know how much worry early testing can cause. Good Luck to you and wishing you an uneventful 9mo!

Thanks for the good wishes, especially as I don't really "know" you all

This thread was such a godsend for me and got me through some really tough times. I wish all of you just starting out all the luck in the world, and I'm thinking of everyone

Janus · 16/01/2008 04:45

Daisy, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum, I hope you are managing to get through your day and look after yourself.
Goingfor3, braxton hicks already, how unlucky and scary given previous history. So sorry, are you going to check cervix or do you not need to?
MrsMc, wherever you are, good luck, it should be soon (or maybe it already is!!).
MOM, hope the scan goes well next week and placenta has managed to move itself. It is so hard coping with dc, house and pregnancy. As you can see I get major insommonia just thinking of everything, let alone doing it all! Hope you are managing to grab the odd bit of rest.
Kate, I had a 'reassurance scan' at 6+1 and there was a heartbeat then, such a relief. They do say you should be able to see a heartbeat from 6 weeks but does obviously depend on you being very sure about dates.

nervousal · 16/01/2008 09:09

Kate - sorry to hear your sad news.

I'm having a bad time at the moment - last night I noticed some mucosy discharge wit hbrownish tints when I wiped after a wee (TMI??), I've had some crampy feelings and I'm scared that this is the beginning of the end again.

Why can't this be straightforward???

TJuice · 16/01/2008 09:52

nervousal - fingers crossed its nothing. i have had exactly the same a few times in this pregnancy and my gynae said it was the stretching womb bursting a couple of blood vessels. at this point, which is pretty early, it could be just a kind of nestling in process.

stay positive, breathe and think healthy and well. i used to try and relax and visualise myself breathing good, pink and yellow vibes into my body and downwards. god knows why but that helped me to relax.

(before you think i am some hippy-dippy freak, i also used to whimper and bang my head on the toilet door. that feeling of panic can be overwhelming, i think we all know)

xxx

nervousal · 16/01/2008 11:26

"stretching womb" - yes I like that! Fingers crossed for a stretching womb! the reason I'm worried is because I had exactly the same thing about a week before I miscarried last time. I'm just trying to avoid getting stressed - which is very difficult because we're selling our house, my Mums moved in with us, I'm snowed under at work and dp is working all the hours god sends. Least its keeping my mind of my "stretching womb" a bit!

nervousal · 16/01/2008 11:39

Just been for a wee and have had some red bleeding. I'm at work and can't go home - getting pretty scared

spugs · 16/01/2008 11:44

daisy - so sorry to hear about your mum [hugs] cant believe thaat baby daisy is 7.5 mths already, time flies.

kate - your story sounds very similar to mine, had mc in may (was sort of missed as no bleeding but had gut instinct something wrong), period in the june and then fell pg with this one. found out at 3+4 (thought i was 4 weeks but scn put me 4 days back) line was very faint and drove myself mad for a week till i got a nice strong one wasnt given blood tests or early scan but did have a private one at 12 weeks which was great. im now 30 weeks with a girl (they say). congrats of your bfp

nervous- brown blood is fairly common i think and the majority of ladies who have it are fine. i had it with dd1 and there were no problems. fingers crossed its the same for you

EllieG · 16/01/2008 11:48

nervous - how many weeks are you? It might be worth ringing up your MD or EPU and requesting a scan.

((((hugs)))) to you

nervousal · 16/01/2008 11:49

about 6.5 - had a scan on Friday and everything was fine. I'll call them and see if I can go up this pm.

EllieG · 16/01/2008 11:53

No harm in it, and it might reassure you. There are lots of people - e.g. jules - who have bled massively in early stages and beans are still going strong. Easy to say I know, but try to not to worry. Early pregnancy is a time of many cramps and weird feelings.
Let us nkow how you get on x

nervousal · 16/01/2008 11:55

Just phoned EPAU - they say that we just need to give it time that it could just be pregnancy bedding in. I don't think so

kate2179 · 16/01/2008 12:27

Nervousal Go to A&E!! And sod work, your baby is more important. I know that's much easier said than done, but it's true! Good luck, will be thinking of you xx

EllieG · 16/01/2008 12:29

Ditto what kate said x

nervousal · 16/01/2008 13:16

Theres little point in going to A&E? if this is the start of a miscarriage there is absolutely nothing they can do and this is not classed as either an accident or an emergency. (would be different if I was further on)

kate2179 · 16/01/2008 13:30

True. But a number of ladies on here have gone to A&E in your situation and have then been taken straight to EPU and scanned even when EPU refused to do it initially. You're right, it won't make any difference to the outcome but it might stop you worrying yourself sick in the meantime! As for not being an emergency, doesn't it feel like an emergency to you? Bet it does. Know what you mean though, just do whatever feels right & we'll all be here to support you whatever happens {{hugs}}

nervousal · 16/01/2008 13:35

A&E would just get advice from EPAU and I'v already spoken to them. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. It would be nice to go home nad put my feet up - but I've just got one meeting to go to this pm which will keep my mind off things nad then I'll get hme early (to tidy house for viewing tonight argggghhh!)

feedmenow · 16/01/2008 13:57

Nervousal, why can't you go home? Is it a lot of bleeding? Call the EPU and ask their advice as soon as poss honey. xxx

nervousal · 16/01/2008 14:15

No - not much bleeding - only when I wiped. I've got a great big sanitary towel on just in case - and its not even marked.

EllieG · 16/01/2008 14:40

Do you really HAVE to do this meeting? Sounds like you could do with going home now to put your feet up

feedmenow · 16/01/2008 15:09

If your ST isn't showing anything then maybe what you've had bleed wise is it. Hope it's all OK. xxx

TJuice · 16/01/2008 15:20

nervousal - hope you are okay. xxxx
