kd - sorry you are having a worrying time. How are things today?

Yey for bouncing!

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 28/12/2007 09:24

Jules I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!

I have a scan today and am taking my girls. Baby has already given me a few kicks this morning and I'm really looking forward to seeing her(thats my feeling atm) hopefully they can tell me what Im having at the scan as she has a name already and it seems unfair if it's a boy!

HelenCS · 28/12/2007 09:30

Hey
was wondering if you guys can help me...
I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, this was 5 weeks ago today. Me and my partner are trying again and so far since i had the op ive had no period, a pregnancy test i did the other week came up positive, but extremely faintly and after half an hour, i then went to my GP who said the chances are i am pregnant but very early stages as then line took a while to show up. People on my other thread are saying that these are 'evaporation lines' and mean nothing.. but my GP said a positive is a positive no matter how long it takes to come up.
Does anyone actually no?!
xxx

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 28/12/2007 09:32

HelenCS a test is suposed to be disregarded after 10 mins, a positive is a positive but only before 10 mins. I have a very faint lines for a couple of days before my period after I mc'd. Have you retested?

HelenCS · 28/12/2007 09:45

Im going to retest tomorrow.. but when i first found out i was pregnant before i miscarried the line again was really faint and took an hour to show up, went to the doctors and they confirmed i was pregnant.
Ive used clear blue before a couple of times when i thought i was pregnant in the past but wasnt and they showed up negative and never got any of these 'evaporation lines'making it a false positive, The only time i got the line to make it a positive was when i was pregnant and last week when i did the test and it came up

Hello - i hope everyone had a good Christmas!

Can i join again? I shortly joined when i found out i was pregnant 3 weeks ago but had a massive bleed that day and thought it was all over. Infact i am still pregnant and now 7.3 weeks. I have now had 2 big red bleeds and lots of brown yuckiness so i dont know if this pregnancy will last . I had a scan at the EPU at 6 weeks and saw a lovely bean and a heart beat - and i am going to book a private scan for next Thursday as EPU wont scan me again. Anyway - i could do with some support at the moment. I am trying to write up a Phd whilst working - and slowly going crazy!

HelenCS · 28/12/2007 10:50

Thanks justjules..
My doctor wanted me to go for a blood test this morning but i couldnt die to work commitments.. but she also told me that it would take 2 weeks to get my results (they are the most rubbish doctors in the world) is it possible for me to aske to go to the hospital to have this test as i no you can get your results same day. I need to put my mind at rest!!

I bought a CBD this morning.. havent done it as i went to the loo before going to work
Should i wait until tomorrow or just do it when i need to go?!
when they do a blood test what are they looking for?
I had the blood tests when i was pregnant before the mc but was never told why..

Hi Helen - sorry you are having such a confusing time. If was me, I would use a CBD now and one tomorrow morning just to be sure if says negative now. They are very sensitive and like jules said, there is no faffing about looking for lines. Best of luck x

Really pleased bean still holding on for you Lcy x

EllieG · 28/12/2007 11:19

x-post there jules - sounds like much more useful advice though x

Lcy · 28/12/2007 11:21

Thanks EllieG - hope you had a good Christmas x

HelenCS · 28/12/2007 11:21

thankyou!
i was 10 weeks pregnant when i had the mc but from the scan they told me the baby hadnt grown since about 6 weeks so i had had a dead baby in me for about 3 weeks.. they said it must have died a few days after i had my scan where we saw the baby was ok.. that was the worst thing.
So even tho the baby was in me for those 3 weeks but not 'alive' would i still have been producing HCG?
Its been 5 weeks today since i had the op xx

Gracie14 · 28/12/2007 11:22

Hi all,

Jules - So pleased scan went well

KD - I'm thinking of you, sorry to hear you are going through this worry

Lcy - Sorry that you have been bleeding everything crossed for you, its such a hard time isn't it. I have been ttc for well over a year, miscarryng at 4+5 in October this year and now I am 4+4 and so scared this bloody knicker checking is getting ridiculous. I thought the hardest part was failing to get pregnant for so long but this is an all new consuming feeling I feel like bursting into tears and climbing into bed until I've got to a least 12 weeks

A quick question do you think I can request an early scan if I manage to get abit further along?

Lcy · 28/12/2007 11:39

Gracie14 - yes ask your GP for an early scan.

Justjules - hello so pleased to hear about your scan

Helen - i also mc at 11 weeks but baby was only size of a 6 week old but because placenta was attached it kept producing hormones and my hcg levels kept rising.

EllieG · 28/12/2007 11:51

I was same - scan at 12 weeks showed baby had died at 9. Not sure what my hcg levels were doing but didn't twilight surfer get PG straight after a MC? So is possible. Fingers crossed for you anyway Helen x

HelenCS · 28/12/2007 12:17

thanks for all your support guys!
kicked up a bit of a fuss with the doctors over waiting 2 weeks for my test results so managed to get myself a blood card so i can go to pathology at the royal berks and get my test done today so should no on monday!
Still going to test today or tomorrow tho..

Ele08 · 28/12/2007 12:51

Hi everyone and congrats to those who pregnant ive recently had a miscarriage (2 weeks ago) I started bleeding on the day i should have been 13 weeks but a trip to hospital the next day and a scan confirmed my baby had died between 8 and 9 weeks and i stayed in hospital overnight and had a d and c the next day which was the 16th Dec. Hopefully we have some good luck in 2008

Lcy · 28/12/2007 13:20

Hi Ele08 - sorry about your mc - I saw your message on the TTC board - you can expect ovulation from 2 weeks after d&c i think - i ovulated 3 weeks after - hope this helps. good luck to you in 2008.

lovelylou · 28/12/2007 13:38

Hi everyone. Went for scan yesturday and everything is fine baby was having a snooze so didn't really move at all which made me panic a bit but midwife said everything looks fine and i am eleven weeks today.
Congrats on the scan jules
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas x

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 28/12/2007 14:24

I went for the sczn, cervix is fine and hasn't changed since last time which is great news. Baby gave me and the girls a quick wave culred up into a ball and turned it's back on us so we didn't really see very much! The sosngrapher wouldn't tell me the sex she said I had to wait until my 20 week scan which is nearly three weeks away but I have another scan to check my cervix in just under 2 weeks so I'll ask if it's a different sonographer. The sosngrapher said that the baby was being uncoperative and hope it's not like that in the anomaly scan or they won't see anything but it's been like that everytime!

lovelylou glad you scan went well too!

becklesparkle · 28/12/2007 14:37

Hi all! Helen, welcome to the thread, sorry you are having such a confusing time at the moment. I had similar last year when I m/c - found out at 12 weeks that baby stopped growing at 5 - still had terrible sickness, bloating and all other symptoms though so I guess that sometimes the hormones just keep going... Glad you got them to test your bloods a bit earlier, hope you get good results!

Goingfor3 and Lovelylou, glad your scans went well! Jules, so so pleased minijules is still going strong!

Glad you are still with us too Lcy, hopefully this one will hold on!

KD, I had bleeding at about 5 weeks followed by a few days of nasty period type pains - I think it is normal (and us knicker-checkers notice every twinge more than other people too I think) but get yourself checked out anyway - it will set your mind at ease.

Congrats (again) to Bouncing & MrBouncing!

My turn next! Unless MrsMc has beaten me to it! Had to have a scan today as the MWs weren't sure which way up baby was but thankfully it is head down, just has a bony bottom! Next appointment in 10 days at 41+4 to discuss induction if LO still hasn't shifted...
