Good news too from Goingfor3....

Thinking of you Fran and sending all the positive vibes I have.

16 weeks...still so far to go, but had check up last week and heart going thumpety-thump, which was wonderfully reassuring. Healthy and well, healthy and well.....

Hi, Serial lurker who would like to join for some support.

Potted History - Older potential mother (37), 2 m/c in the last 6 months now 5+1 with 3rd pregnancy. Shit scared for all the obvious reasons, have never even made it to 7 weeks previously so here's hoping.

MrsMcJnr - Always remember how kind you where during my last m/c when I started using M/N for the 1st time. You must be very excited to be almost on ML, I know you have said previously that you have to worry until the very last minute so I'm keeping everything crossed for you.

Cece, I hope it's not inappropriate to add my condolances, your posts have made me weep with the unfairness of it all. Hope is a beautiful name and I hope you are getting lot's of support from friends & family in RL. My heart goes out to you & yours and this incredibly difficult time.

For everyone else, I hope you don't mind me joining and here's too uneventful pregnancies for all of us.

Bouncingturtle · 17/12/2007 17:17

Welcome MerryMichaelmas! Our MrsMc is a treasure , we'd be lost without her!

MrsMc, I think I've had a few twinges, had a bad tummy ache on and off for the last couple of days. Been hitting the fresh pineapple, clary sage baths and bouncing on my ball a lot. I am so eager to meet my lo!
Is it next week that's your last week at work?

Spugs, I'm sure you'll be fine but worth talking to MW. Your head is a clueless twit! I found this which confirms what you said about danger being before 20 weeks. HTH.

Hiya Girls.... have a dilema, have just found out that SIL has shingles (she's a teacher so prone to it) which means we won't be seeing her over Xmas, but we do have plans to see parents in law (ie her parents) who will have spent time with her since she became infected..... am I being overly paranoid or would you avoid them all??

also, are chocolate hobnobs a vegetable group counting towards your 5 a day... because I think they might be....

Bouncingturtle · 17/12/2007 18:09

Dondons - yes anythig with chocolate in counts towards your f a day
Not sure about the shingles thing, can you ring your MW and ask?

OP posts:
DonDons · 17/12/2007 18:15

Thanks Bouncing - have just found this so think I am okay.

Thanks also for clarification on the chocolate...I've always worked on the basis that chocolate comes from a bean and therefore must be a vegetable

feedmenow · 17/12/2007 18:36

Minspugs, I posted about slapped cheek last week. Am actually pretty certain I have it, but still have to wait til Thursday for blood test results to confirm. the midwife I saw last week was pretty sh*t and wouldn't say anything more than I'm not to go near other pg ladies til I get the results, and that they will take apprpriate action once we have the results.

Having checked out a few sites, I am thinking that after 20 weeks the chances and outcomes are very, very much reduced but that there is still a possibility of complications if you were not immune (apparently 50-60% of population have had it without knowing and are therefore immune). I think the gist is that if you are concerened, your best bet is to see m/wife/GP to get a blood test to check your immunity and set your mind at rest.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 17/12/2007 18:46

just popping in to wish BT and beckles lots of luck. I'll be offline for most of christmas and New Year so will probably miss your announcements. Enjoy your ML MrsMcJr....I'm keeping it all crossed for you.

Cece, what a beautiful name. I'm sorry you are finding things tough, and I hope you are getting some emotional support. Be kind to yourself lovely, and take it one day at a time {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

babyboo doing great. She really is a poppet. She is pretty mobile; getting around with a combination of rolling, spinning on her tummy and rolling again till she gets where she wants to be; usually behind the TV amongst all the electrical cables. She choked on some bread today and I had to do a mini heimlich on her to dislodge it; scary, but I managed to stay calm.

Wishing everyone all the best, and sorry that some of you have had bad news

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 17/12/2007 18:48

merry michaelmas - good luck and everything crossed for you! i do hope you get to enjoy christmas. try nit to worry and keep popping in x

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 17/12/2007 19:36

at babyboo's nearly choking - good job you were on the ball Daisy!
She does sound totally adorable!

becklesparkle · 17/12/2007 21:08

at your Head Spugs! Some people just don't think if it doesn't affect them immediately...

Welcome MerryMichelmass, hoping for a nice and uneventful pg for you this time, sorry you have to be here IYKWIM but you are in good hands.

MrsMc, 4 days of work until Mat Leave! Wow! It has all come round so fast, your LO will be here before you know it! No real signs for me yet, some BHs painful and like Bouncing, a bit of an on-off sore tum for a few days. However, baby not engaged (MW said balancing on pelvis like egg on an egg cup), still too high and not in great position for birth (does still turn a lot though ). Still putting bets that your LO could well arrive before mine does!

Daisy, thanks for the good luck! Will prob still be waiting after Christmas! Hope you have a good one. Glad to hear that babyboo is thriving! Poor you with the scare about her choking! Well done for staying calm though, I usually stay calm in a crisis but then fall apart afterwards.

All seems well with me, starting to get really worried about the birth etc now though! Not keen on pain and worried that baby has not engaged because it can't due to being too big or something! Am measuring right on the top of the shaded bit for my dates at the moment which is a little worrying as I'm only small. Also discovered today that I don't bend in the middle anymore! Not even low enough to put something in the dishwasher!!! All good fun, can't wait to meet LO now!

becklesparkle · 17/12/2007 21:11

Keep giggling at myself too! DH gets worried about things like my lack of mobility at the moment and aches and things but I just find it all funny!

I guess I am so grateful to be pg that anything I go through will be worth it when I hold my LO.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 17/12/2007 21:53

Aw beckle...that is such a sweet sentiment

My on gping sacro-iliac joint pain is just my badge of honour then

franfoxy2003 · 18/12/2007 00:21

going to doctors wednesday cos my doctor isn't in til then and she has been dealing with it since june...but tbh after seeing everything yesterday i know its over....giving up now on ever having kids again cos had miscarriage june and then this one....

TwilightSurfer · 18/12/2007 00:40

Long day and I'm beat. Forgive me I posted these same remarks on my ante-natal thread but I wanted you guys to know too....
"My OB/GYN visit was good and fast today. I'm doing well and got a picture to prove my condition. I will go back in 3 weeks on 07Jan for another scan and regular pregnant lady workup (until now I've been treated as suspected pregnancy.) Plans are to tell the family next weekend as they will all be traveling in for the holiday. That scares me. Seems we only just told everyone I was pregnant then I miscarried now I'm telling them I'm pregnant again."

I posted Baby Twilight's first official picture so go have a look. I'm only 5+2 so don't expect alot.

NIGHT

minspugs · 18/12/2007 09:53

merry - congrats on your bfp

dondon - if youve had chicken pox yourself then i dont think you can catch chicken pox or shingles from someone who has shingles. i think theres recently been a thread on here about this.

fran - im so sorry hun, i really do hope its not what your thinking.

rang mw this morning, have to go for blood tests tomorrow, oh joy. also dont have to go in for my regular supply slot this pm. which means no pay buit not to bothered to be honest. not worrying about it, sure there just erring on side of caution.

ts - what a lovely little bean glad everything went well with your checkup. pregnancy care in the states is very different to over here (uk) isnt it. you seem to have a lot more scans and see a doc! are you classed as high risk or is it normal

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 18/12/2007 10:23

TS - your bean and your DD are both lovely

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 18/12/2007 10:29

Yey for TS's bean - and your dd is very cute

Fran - thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed as well.

TwilightSurfer · 18/12/2007 10:31

minspugs yeah US is a bit different but honestly it's different from doctor to doctor too. I left the doctor I'd been seeing for 20 years after my mc in Nov due to lack of compassionate care. She was basically a burnout in my book. My new doctor is young and ready to rock-n-roll so to speak. He's very hands on thus the number of scans I've had so far (all performed by him...not a tech.) It's nice to have someone who's into making babies. The doc did say I'd be referred to the old pregnant ladies group for high risk testing in a month or so (weeks 11-14). That's just precationary. As for being high risk because of the mc...he's been very clear that he thinks that was just a fluke and is going the extra mile to prove that to me. I really am a very healthy female who takes very good care of herself but the mc made me doubt all that. I'm slowly coming back round. This pregnancy feels healthier than the last which might sound odd but there is definitely a huge difference between the two. It just nice to be able to call up the doc directly if there's a problem and be seen immediately without any red tape if the need arises. It's all covered by private insurance. When everything is said and done I'll pay out of pocket no more than $525US for all ante-natal care, birth and post-natal care.

TwilightSurfer · 18/12/2007 10:31

Thanks

gingercat12 · 18/12/2007 15:33

In case I shan't have the time later, I wish You all and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! Hopefully and uneventful one.

minspugs · 18/12/2007 16:41

ts - i noticed a definate difference between how i felt with the pg i mc and this one. think i knew it wadnt going to work out.
