Hi all, couldn't see an April 2022 birth thread so thought I would start one.
I'm due mid April but need a dating scan to confirm as I have an irregular cycle.

@wannabeamummysobad it's so hard to know what's normal, isn't it? Not long till I see a midwife so I'll sit tight then hit her with my hundreds of questions. I'll add GTT to the list! Smile

I have bought almost nothing. We are going to do some shopping this weekend - it's all a bit daunting. No idea what to choose!

SouthwestSis · 14/01/2022 10:27

@PartridgeCoop my advice is have a look on your local Facebook marketplace before buying anything new, babies use stuff for such a brief amount of time that you can get really good quality stuff for a fraction of the price, and it reduces waste that eventually ends up in landfill.
Plus you get to keep more of your dosh for some treats for you during pregnancy or saving for mat leave.

PartridgeCoop · 14/01/2022 10:40

Great idea. I use gumtree sometimes but I don't have Facebook. Maybe it's time to finally sign up... I might be a little late to that party! Very conscious of all the stuff that comes with a baby because we live in a tiny flat. Getting second hand and selling on seems like a good way to manage the tsunami of stuff.

shannonl26 · 19/01/2022 10:33

Hi ladies, how are you all doing?

Been a bit MIA lately but finally have some down time! I’m 28 weeks on Friday, I cannot believe how the time is going! What will eventually become the nursery is still just full of boxes & bags mind so I suppose I better start unpacking & buy a wardrobe to put all babies clothes in 😂

Anybody had any scans lately? Bumps growing rounder as the days go by? Settled on any names? 😊

ponymum1980 · 19/01/2022 11:11

25+4 today and the heartburn has hit. It's awful. Wanted to die this morning until my mum sat me down and gave me gaviscone (result) and some helpful advice. Got married on Saturday, so been focussing on that, but third trimester is looming closer now and the bump is definitely getting bigger so it'll be get the nursery ready/nesting from here on in. Thank all that is wonderful for pregnancy pillows too, just when sleep was getting awkward, I managed to get one. It's heaven. Hoping to enjoy the last few weeks of the second trimester honeymoon if I can keep the reflux down.

Lafoosa · 19/01/2022 13:56

Hi all, jumping on this thread rather late. I'm due on the 15th of April with my 3rd baby and 3rd girl 🥰🌼
So 27+5 today.

Lafoosa · 19/01/2022 14:00

@ponymum1980 I had awful heartburn with my last pregnancy, and weirdly bananas really helped. Might just be me though 😂

Pregnancy pillows are a godsend aren't they? I waited far too long this time to get one and I'm sleeping way better now (apart from two toddlers waking all the time).
I didn't nest in my last two pregnancies and I am this time which is a strange feeling. My body isn't coping very well with the pregnancy though and I can't move around for long without being in so much pain I can't get up anymore. Fun.

I've got the dreaded tummy measurements at my Friday midwife appointment, they're so inaccurate I ended up going to 5 pointless scans last time because they measured wrong 😩
This last 12 weeks of pregnancy is going to drag along as slowly as the first 12 I think haha, I hope baby isn't huge.

BrightSide1987 · 19/01/2022 15:35

I feel your pain @ponymum1980! Heartburn has been the worst thing for me, I have been drinking Gaviscon like it's water for weeks now! Hope yours improves - like @Lafoosa I think bananas are good and lots of milk if you can stomach it!

Hope your pain eases up @Lafoosa - 12 wks sounds like a long time but I'm sure it'll fly by! The growth measurement thing is weird - there's so much other stuff floating around in there that I don't see how it can really be measuring baby! My bub was measuring big at scans but my first measurement was bang on 50th percentile so if I carry on that trajectory I'll probably end up having to have a growth scan too!

@shannonl26 glad you're getting some time to catch your breath! Nursery sorting is a pain but it's really satisfying to see it come together!

Lafoosa · 19/01/2022 15:49

@BrightSide1987 I measured too small for the entire pregnancy last time, my trajectory was all over the place and jumped up and down each appointment. I had so many scans because of it, just turns out I make regular weight babies that are teeny tiny. My eldest was 7lbs 10oz and youngest was 7lbs 7oz, but both were so short they needed tiny baby clothes. Eldest has always measured 50th centile for everything though and my youngest is 25th centile for height and at 2 she's still in 12-18 clothes haha.

I don't even have a car seat yet this time, or any kind of cot, highchair or any of that. Been dragging it out a bit before getting anything to see what I can find that's free 😂 I actually got rid of all of our baby things about 2 weeks before finding out I'm pregnant again.

rosiej95 · 21/01/2022 06:18

Morning all :)

@BrightSide1987 it's so funny how one minute your fine the next all you wanna do is cry 😂
Not sure if baby's moved cause kicks are a lot more prominent now but ribs are still taking the brunt of it 😂

Ive been speaking to so many people this week who have not long given birth & it has made me so exited!

I have a zoom class with the local hospital today all about birth plans.
I totally get they don't always go to plan but think it'll be nice to have something written down so my boyfriend knows what I'd like too just incase :)

@shannonl26 got a scan in a couple more weeks to check my placenta has moved 🤞🏻 how about you?

@Lafoosa hi 👋
I always wondered about the measurements & how they know expesh when baby is in different positions
Think it's deffo unnecessary worry but more scans to see bubba 🥰

Anyone else really exited for maternity leave??😂
I have 7 weeks left at work & I'm so exited 😂

BrightSide1987 · 24/01/2022 10:41

Oh @rosiej95 tell me about it. I feel like a right arse today because I broke down yesterday because I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff my mother-in-law has bought for baby. My rational brain knows I should just be incredibly grateful for having generous and excited grandparents-to-be, but some days the hormones completely take over and I can't help it!

Like you, I cannot wait for maternity leave! Interviewing candidates this Friday to cover my role while I'm off which will make it feel even more real!

@Lafoosa how frustrating for you to have all those scans for perfectly sized babies! I guess there are worse things than getting to see them a bit more but it's a lot of toing and froing (and worry!). Also, it's blooming sod's law that you got rid of everything, but at least this time round you know what you need and what's surplus to requirements!

Also @ponymum congrats on your wedding - missed that when I read your post before! Are you getting a baby/honeymoon before the madness hits?

Aria28 · 07/02/2022 15:53

Hello everyone! How's everyone feeling? I feel like I've been spending loads of money on bits ahhh! And starting to feel more tired and moving around is more painful! Hope you're all well

wannabeamummysobad · 07/02/2022 16:12

@Aria28 I'm getting so tired now (28 +5 weeks) so stopped running. Even though I don't break for maternity until April I'm counting down the weeks (8 to go 🥳🥳🥳). I know what you mean mean about spending loads of money. Luckily we've not had anything delivered yet so every time I get a notification that something has reduced in the sale I call up to get that applied to my order. Saved nearly £200. Nursery will be delivered in 2 weeks x

Aria28 · 07/02/2022 16:59

@wannabeamummysobad how exciting! We've bought car seat/pram and cot, and then other bits. Trying to buy bits at a time to make it seem like not one massive cost 😂. My mat leave starts mid March, I'm 30 weeks now! Can't believe it sometimes haha

BrightSide1987 · 08/02/2022 17:09

I definitely feel you @Aria28 and @wannabeamummysobad - the tiredness is beginning to hit now! I'm 31+4 today and beginning to mildly regret my decision to work right up until the end of March!

Still, counting my blessings as feeling good overall with lots of kicks and wiggles from baby! We've got NCT classes starting on Saturday which I'm excited about too.

Glad you're both enjoying the bargain hunting - there's plenty of good deals if you look hard enough! We've got all new nursery furniture but most of the rest (pram, car seat, etc.) is second hand which has saved a bunch!

Aria28 · 04/03/2022 13:26

How is everyone?

Hayesdays · 05/03/2022 20:13

Hello @Aria28 35 weeks on Monday here and feeling FAT! Have spotted my first stretch mark coming off my C-section scar and feeling emotional about it - very vain I know!

Other than that, tiredness and waddling like a duck has well and truly set in haha!

Last week of work next week - wahoo! First baby arrived at 36 weeks so thought I’d go a bit earlier this time just in case! Hope I get a few days for some me time before DD2 arrives. Have already booked a spa day lol! I definitely plan on making the most out of any downtime I get whilst DD1 is at nursery and before DD2 arrives!

How are you doing?

rosiej95 · 06/03/2022 14:57

Hi all :)

35+1 & feeling it a little now haha
I break up from work on Saturday I'll be 36 weeks & very much looking forward to it 😂

We had a scan at 32+5 to check if my low lying placenta has moved & it has 🎉
But baby is measuring 5lb 3oz. the consultant I had an appointment with mentioned being induced at 38 weeks so I have a growth scan next week & then go from there.

It's scary how fast everything is going! although im fairly chilled about it all 😂 atm... 👀

How's everyone else feeling? :)
You all ready? :)

wannabeamummysobad · 06/03/2022 17:43

Hi @Aria28 @Hayesdays and @rosiej95 , I'm 32+4 and definitely feeling more tired but so excited. DH put up nursery furniture this weekend and I've finally started buying clothes for DD and ordered bits for our hospital bags!

I start maternity leave in

wannabeamummysobad · 06/03/2022 17:46

@rosiej95 our baby girl was 4lbs5 at 32+0. I have another scan booked for 36 weeks then again at 39+6 if I haven't delivered by then.

I wasn't due any extra scans but it's nice to have had it as I've basically been able to stick to 0-3months as newborn will likely be too small

Hayesdays · 06/03/2022 19:45

@rosiej95 was 5lb 3oz considered big? I had a scan at 33+1 and my DD2 weighed in at 5lb 1oz which was just above my 50th line on the graph. I’m going back at 37 weeks for a double check…

DD1 weighed 6lb 6oz at birth, at 36 weeks so I’m expecting an 8lber if I make it to full term!

@wannabeamummysobad
so jealous of the nursery! We are currently working in the babies bedroom eeek! About to move into a different room but it’s just taking so long to decorate etc. can’t wait to get setup…feeling unprepared this time round! Butttt I’ve packed my hospital bag which I didn’t do last time until I was in labour haha…I don’t recommend this BTW!

Epli · 06/03/2022 20:26

34w and feeling super sleepy and tired from ~ 5pm. I wanted to start maternity leave ~ 37w4d but I might reconsider.

rosiej95 · 06/03/2022 20:36

@Hayesdays I'll be honest I didn't think so But the consultant I seen double checked my glucose test was negative & booked me in for a growth scan & mentioned about induction. My boyfriend was born over 10lb so I didn't think I'd have a small baby? 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
I'll be honest tho depending on what the next scan says I think I'm going to hold off on the induction & just trying all the wives tales from 37 weeks.
When midwife measures my bump I'm on the higher end of the line but still following the line? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I've still got a little bit to add into my hospital bag but baby's is officially Done :D

@wannabeamummysobad the extra scans have been lovely but Because we haven't found out what we're having I get so nervous incase they slip up & tell us 😂
Makes it more real with the furniture going up tho doesn't it!

I've got just a couple of light stretch marks under my bump but nothing that noticeable tbh.
It's where I've kept baby safe for the past few months so am quite accepting of them 🥰
I'm still in awe at what our bodies are doing 😂😍

Is anyone planning on breastfeeding? 🤔
I've been back and forth wondering weather to or not, I'm self employed so will be going back to work fairly soon after.
I've brought ready to feed kendamil & Aptamil cause I didn't know which formular to use but I'm thinking of giving it a go. Thought about combi feeding & expressing so my boyfriend can also do feeds but think I might just see how it goes? 🤔
So many decisions & there not even here yet 😂

Hayesdays · 06/03/2022 20:55

@rosiej95 ouch! Your poor boyfriends mum! Ye I didn’t think that sounded big either but then I’m no midwife! I’m sure these babies will be ‘the perfect size for our bodies’ as my hypnobirthing meditation app keeps telling me haha!

I’m planning on breastfeeding. It went well with DD1. Felt very lucky that we both took to it easily. It is a lot of pressure to be the only one that can feed the baby but I was on mat leave for it so found it manageable. Maybe just see how you go? You might love it or hate it! Same with formula too, your baby might prefer one brand over another so just see how they get on.

@Epli I feel you! Are you able to change your mat leave start date?

cupcakesandglitter · 06/03/2022 21:09

Hi all, please can I join?! I'm due 26th of April but being induced earlier due to GD. I'm currently almost 33 weeks with my second baby 😁 I've been watching for a while but I'm so so exhausted this time round I've not been able to contribute!
