Hi all, couldn't see an April 2022 birth thread so thought I would start one.
I'm due mid April but need a dating scan to confirm as I have an irregular cycle.

@shannonl26 @rosiej95 glad your scans went well!

@BrightSide1987 DH is 6"3 (I'm 5"7) the sonographer commented on how long her legs are and her button nose. I have swimmers shoulders so hoping baby takes after DH as she'll be a lot easier to push out!

Does anyone know when they start measuring in our blue books? Interested to see what percentile she is for growth x

BrightSide1987 · 22/11/2021 14:26

@wannabeamummysobad yep to be fair I'm 5'7 and never thought of myself as particularly tall (wife is 5'10) but the sonographer was saying that I was tall so it wasn't a surprise baby is too (before he even knew about the donor's height!). As you say, fingers crossed for tall and narrow - they can save their broadening out until post partum! How are you getting on?

Is anyone else getting major hip pain from side sleeping? I've always slept on my side so don't know if it's extra weight or stretching muscles causing the issue! I've just invested in one of those very attractive giant wraparound pillow things hoping it'll help and stop me waking up on my back!

wannabeamummysobad · 22/11/2021 14:39

@BrightSide1987 I thought I was average height then heard that the average height for women is 5ft3 😯!

I'm okay, my hip/side thigh has started to ache overnight and this is ruining my sleep. It's odd because when awake I'm still running and working out with no issues. I do want to do more Pilates hip focused work so I'm very ready for childbirth.

After my stressful 16W appointment last week DH and I did a gender scan this weekend and we loved it. Found out we're having a 💓. It definitely helped reset my mind back to feeling positive about my pregnancy. I do worry I'll have some sort of anxiety/ptsd if my MW brings a Doppler near me again but have agreed with DH he'll come to all my appointments until I feel confident going by myself again. Because my 16W was so angst driven they didn't get to do my urine analysis or send me for blood work so they've asked me to have another MW appointment on the same day but straight after my 20 week scan so they can do them both.

Everyone else, are you doing antenatal exercise classes or still sticking to your regular gym/workouts? I'm the latter hoping to keep at it at least until 28 weeks but I might be kidding myself 🤣 x

BrightSide1987 · 22/11/2021 14:57

@wannabeamummysobad I know right - even I feel like a giant now Grin

Congratulations on finding out the sex - so pleased for you! And yes it must have been a big relief to have a positive scan after your nightmare experience. Glad DH is lined up to accompany you - that support is vital!

Pre-pregnancy exercise for me was mostly doubles tennis and squash. I stopped playing squash as soon as we entered the 2ww as it's too high intensity, but I'm planning to keep up the tennis until I can't run around the court any more and see others losing patience with me! I've started to do yoga and swimming too so I'm getting into a routine that I'll be able to keep up in the later stages. I think as long as it's not really high intensity / contact sports stuff you can keep going but just need to take it a bit easier. With yoga i'm not going to a specific pre-natal class, just avoiding any poses which are lying on back/belly and any twists that would crush the belly!

rosiej95 · 23/11/2021 04:13

@BrightSide1987 @wannabeamummysobad im 5,4 I always saw myself as quite tall my partner is nearly 6 ft and this baby seems to have long legs too so think it'll take more after him
I can't wait to see what they look like when there here weather they'll be tall, how heavy they'll be ect 😂☺️ finding it all so interesting 🥰

@wannabeamummysobad im pretty sure my midwife said from 25 weeks?
I have another appointment with her when I'm 23 weeks as it's Xmas day when I'm 25 weeks So will keep you posted
Aww a little girl congratulations! 💖

@BrightSide1987 Ive had a pregnancy pillow for a few weeks & haven't found I've suffered I have the one that's like a u shape & I put the long bit in between my legs It's pretty comfy but does take up a bit of room in the bed

Im struggling with sleep so much recently 🤦🏼‍♀️ past few nights I've been up at silly o'clock & just cannot get back to sleep! 😩
I've managed to do a fair bit of Black Friday shoppin tho 😏😂 but would deffo prefer to be asleep 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ anyone else struggling? xxx

shannonl26 · 23/11/2021 15:52

@wannabeamummysobad amazing news your having a little girl. Did you go out & buy pink straight away? I know I did 😂 I haven’t done any exercise in the slightest, but I wasn’t doing any pre pregnancy either so that’s my excuse haha. I do have an active job though so I’ll say that’s where I’m getting my exercise 😂

@BrightSide1987 you won’t regret the pregnancy pillow, the best thing I’ve bought 😂

@rosiej95 I’m struggling with sleep also but same as you I’m using the time to spend money 😂 tommee tippee have got good Black Friday deals all this month. I got a bottle feeding bundle set with the prep machine & steriliser etc for 130 reduced from 215! The first ‘hard’ thing I’ve bought & im so excited for it to arrive 😂

I’ve been feeling kicks since the weekend too ladies! They were infrequent throughout the days but today baby girl has been kicking non stop! I can’t wait for them to be strong enough for DP to feel now!

rosiej95 · 23/11/2021 16:05

@shannonl26 I brought the steriliser on the first offer. Waiting for the 30% off online to come on Black Friday & I'll be getting the prep machine ect!
It's exiting! :D
Silvercross also have an offer on as well 👍🏻 brought baby's high chair 🥰
The other night I woke up I decided to grab myself an ice lolly @ 3 in the morning 😂My partner woke up like what the hell are you doing? & I'm like shopping 👀 😂😂😂
As if it's a completely normal thing to do at 3am haha! 🤷🏼‍♀️

How wonderful! It makes it all real when you can feel them doesn't it 🥰🥰
Hopefully won't be long until we get stronger kicks ☺️

shannonl26 · 02/12/2021 20:54

@rosiej95 did you get the prep machine after? My mil has gone mental buying baby girl clothes, she can’t be stopped honestly 😂

Do you feel strong kicks yet? Hope your doing well!

BrightSide1987 · 02/12/2021 21:44

@shannonl26 I'm getting strong kicks now - how about you? Read your message just as I was getting a flutter of them so had to reply!

I can totally relate to the MIL in overdrive too - our house is full of bags of stuff already!

Also - you were right about the pregnancy pillow - it's heaven!

rosiej95 · 02/12/2021 21:46

@shannonl26 I did
We got the day & night one which was meant to be £130
& in the Black Friday sale I got the prep machineNappy bin & refills
& 6 anti colic bottles all for £130!

Was well impressed with my bargain haha!

Done so well in the Black Friday deals tho! So I'm well chuffed 🥰

I've not felt massively strong kicks yet but have felt stronger movement :)
How about you?
How are you doing?

Haha I'll be honest there are soooo many cute girl outfits out there so I don't blame her 😂🙊

Epli · 05/12/2021 21:08

Are you buying a breast pump in advance? I saw people not recommending investing in electric one until It’s known whether there is enough supply to breastfeed. What’s your POV?

shannonl26 · 06/12/2021 07:55

@BrightSide1987 I’m also getting strong kicks! Not quite strong enough for others to feel yet though. I’m glad you invested in a pregnancy pillow, I honestly can’t sleep without mine 😂 how are you feeling?

@rosiej95 I was honestly loving all the sales 😂 bring on the Jan sales now I say 😂 I’m doing well thank you, I’m off on the sick from work until next week (this is my 4th week off including my 10 days isolation) so it’s been nice to recharge my batteries before going back to 12 hour shifts, which I am DREADING 😂 how are you?

@Epli I’m not going to breastfeed so I can’t help sorry. I may change my mind when she’s here but we shall see! However I have seen many women saying they didn’t buy the pump until after birth. My sister also didn’t buy her pump until my nephew was born :)

Epli · 06/12/2021 11:00

Thanks :) I think I will indeed wait.

Another question - what is the difference between baby grows and baby pyjamas? They look exactly the same to me :D

shannonl26 · 06/12/2021 20:08

@Epli baby grows are an all in one, the pjs are a top & bottoms :)

rosiej95 · 09/12/2021 04:54

@shannonl26 were going to decorate the nursery in the New Year & I'm so exited to put all the stuff we have brought in there properly.
12 hour shifts? 😴 I feel for you!
December is my busiest month at work of the year so I've been having a couple of extra breaks here and there & it's been nice 😂 glad you've managed to recharge tho.

I'm doing allright I'm still waking up early hours & can't sleep
I keep dreaming I have a little boy & that for some reason I didn't prepare any of his clothes 🤔😂
They've been lovely dreams tho because I'm cuddling them ect 🥰

Ive been reading the first time parent book & have enjoyed that so far.

How's everyone else doing?

PinkCheetah · 10/12/2021 16:58

I haven't bought a single baby related thing but I can see everyone else is on it more than I am. I just don't know where to start to be honest. Feeling a bit overwhelmed

Hayesdays · 11/12/2021 16:18

@Epli with baby no1 I wanted to breastfeed but waited for a few weeks after she was here to see how we got on with it. We got into a good routine and I invested in one (actually ended up buying 3…top tip don’t go on eBay whilst sleep deprived at 3am!). I found it really useful as I could express during the day, get to bed early and leave DH with a bottle or two so I could get some solid hours sleep.

The hospital will likely have a pump you can try if you’re in for a few days. However my milk didn’t come in until day 4.

I also found the haakaa really good, I stuck it on my spare boos whilst feeding and by the end of the feed it would be full.

Hope this helps x

Epli · 12/12/2021 19:20

@PinkCheetah I watched 2-3 videos with newborn & post partum essentials (I used 'new born' 'post partum essentials uk' in youtube search) and they helped massively with things I would not think about (such as sun shades for the car windows). I think UK youtubers are usually much smaller when it comes to reach so their videos are usually quite honest and recommended products are affordable.

@Hayesdays Thank you, this is super helpful! :) I did not know about the option to try one in hospital.

shannonl26 · 15/12/2021 11:28

@rosiej95 I feel you in the waking up early, baby likes to make herself VERY known from 4am so that’s my new wake up call 😂 that’s so lush dreaming of a baby boy. Maybe it’s a sign!!

I haven’t read any books yet but I would like too, I’ll have to get on Amazon!

Anybody else feel like they’ve POPPED lately? I know all bumps are different but there’s absolutely no denying mine now at almost 23 weeks, I feel huge! 😂

Epli · 15/12/2021 12:11

I definitely popped! It starts to feel uncomfortable when I try to lift something from the floor. But since it is not more visible my boyfriend is getting more excited and talks to my bump :D

wannabeamummysobad · 15/12/2021 14:10

I've got a pretty decent bump (I'm 21 weeks) easier to see when I'm not in a baggy jumper.
Honestly I'm loving my pregnancy body - received many compliments about how well I'm carrying. As I've always been a size 12 I was expecting to balloon but so far my bump is looking cute.
Still got a decent amount of energy and remaining active- bring on April 2022 🥳🥳

BrightSide1987 · 15/12/2021 15:14

How is everyone doing? Can't believe how quickly the time is going - over half way there!

@epli great shout on the videos - I would never have thought of a car shade! I totally get the feeling @PinkCheetah, there's so much to think about! But we're trying to buy bits and pieces as we think of it so it doesn't get overwhelming towards the end. And my mum friends have reassured me by saying you can get most stuff delivered to your doorstep pretty quickly these days if it turns out you forgot to buy it in advance!

@shannonl26 I've totally popped! I'm 23+5 and it's undeniable now Grin. I'm not a skinny person so wasn't sure whether the bump would be as defined as it is, but you can definitely tell it's a baby in there and not just me being greedy lol! Hope your start back to work hasn't been too stressful.

In terms of pregnancy books, I can recommend How to Grow A Baby (and push it out) by Clemmie Hooper - a friend has lent it to me and it's really comprehensive. It's also made me give some serious thought to what I want to do for a birth plan!

Hope you're all feeling good and looking foward to Christmas!

rosiej95 · 16/12/2021 08:49

Morning everyone

Had my 25 week midwife check yesterday & got to hear little ones heartbeat again 🥰
I'm only 23+5 today. I'm 25 weeks on Xmas day & am busy with work next week so had to do it a little earlier.

Can't believe how fast times going
I've had an obvious bump for a little while now 🥰 but I do get a lot of comments of "you sure there's just one in there" & "your due in April wow you've still got a while" 😂😂 I don't mind tho I love my bump 🥰
baby has been moving a lot more recently as well I absolutely love it! I'm really enjoying pregnancy so far.

@shannonl26 ive also read first time parent that's a good read too I've told my partner to read it as well.

@BrightSide1987 ive got that on my list to read! It sounds like a good read! :)

BrightSide1987 · 17/12/2021 14:41

Ah so pleased you got to hear little one again @rosiej95 - it's the best sound in the world! I bought a home Doppler and my wife thinks I'm crazy but it's so reassuring!

Epli · 17/12/2021 15:20

@BrightSide1987 which one did you get? I am getting a bit paranoid recently if I don't feel her moving and I wonder if that will help
