OK thanks for the info I’m in the same boat as you are first time mom but I live in the USA so things are slightly different I was measuring 33 weeks at 30 weeks so I guess you’re right - all along they said I would never get a growth scan now suddenly I’m going tomorrow I’d like to compare notes with you if that’s OK? Maybe boys are just bigger and built that way being is I’m not that tall and neither is my hubby? I think everything is pretty much guesswork at this point.

lovebeingmum9 · 03/11/2021 16:00

Hi ladies 😊
@jadey1991 glad your growth scan went well baby is measuring well....sorry might of missed the odd message have you been told you might need a c section?
I know the consultants go by growth scan but they aren't always accurate....people get told they are set to have a small baby and have a big baby and visa versa! I've measured normally each time but have had 2 bigger babies 2nd born was 13days overdue (no growth scans) and weighed 10lb 3oz at birth and our 4th child i requested induction because of previous complications and they said he would be no bigger than 8lb and was happy to let me go overdue, but went ahead and got induced on due date and he weighed 9lb.....and this time again baby is weighing lovely but I'm still adamant I want to be induced on due date x

JW2021 · 03/11/2021 18:19

Exactly that just proves my point - close your eyes & pick a weight from 6 to 10 lbs!
Ha! Ha! 🤣

tuxedocat · 03/11/2021 19:10

Hi ladies thanks for your kind words. I haven’t seen my midwife or consultant yet but had a liver scan today. I’m not worried about the induction per say (was induced with my so ) but it’s the not knowing about one week to the next with my levels. I will know more after Monday so fingers crossed.

@jadey1991 hope your placenta moves out the way and I feel you on the uncertainty. i think it’s difficult to go from it being smooth riding to having to worry about various things! As long as babies are healthy that's the main thing but it’s still hard to not worry.

The weight is often determined on the growth scans by the various lengths of what they measure eg head circumference - leg length etc (that’s what they said at my growth scan letter and baby was approx 4lb2oz at 31wks)

jadey1991 · 03/11/2021 19:22

@DecadeBCU haha seems like our babies may weigh the same at birth lol. Ohhh sounds someone is ready soon

jadey1991 · 04/11/2021 00:03

@cutejeans yes I am hoping so.. defo would be better knowing when I would have him but I still feel a certain way with csection. I don't know why

jadey1991 · 04/11/2021 00:06

@lovebeingmum9 yes hun I fully understand what your saying. I shouldn't be so anxious about it and worry for nothing. I mean I've had to children and nothing has ever been said about there weight. Eldest was 6.1 and youngest was 7.6 which I think are decent sizes

lovebeingmum9 · 04/11/2021 06:17

@jadey1991 Its all the unknown and uncertainty i totally understand hun.....its the not knowing but even those who think they know go into labour and have a totally different outcome/delivery than expected.....im more anxious than I thought I should be but its also because we have an idea of labour lol x

jadey1991 · 04/11/2021 07:48

@lovebeingmum9 totally agree 100%..

Theawkwardblonde · 04/11/2021 12:33

Hey everyone. Now anxious after midwife appointment.
I'm being sent for a growth scan tomorrow (how ironic after asking if I needed them 🤦🏼‍♀️😂)
Bump is measuring a bit on the small side and not as big as they would expect after my 28 week measurement.
In a total panic now! Everything else was absolutely fine but I'm now totally stressing! I've been so worried I'll have a big baby it didn't cross my mind it may measure small.

jadey1991 · 04/11/2021 14:21

@Theawkwardblonde hey hun, don't worry to much. Just be positive. Baby could just be more to the back.
See what happens tomorrow. What time is your appointment?

DecadeBCU · 04/11/2021 15:25

@Theawkwardblonde

Also, try to remember that bump size it very much dependant on your size too. Those with a longer torso will carry differently to those with a shorter torso and it will also depend on how your baby is positioned in there. Easier said than done but try not to worry too much. Bump measurement is notoriously inaccurate. Hopefully the scan will put your mind at rest.

tuxedocat · 04/11/2021 19:51

@Theawkwardblonde the exact same as me / baby was measuring just fine and they were happy I’m just a little below average. As long as baby follows their own curve that’s all that’s important. The tape measure measurements are so inaccurate. Good luck for the scan and enjoy seeing baby!

2020mission · 05/11/2021 08:12

@Theawkwardblonde the same happened to me at my 32 week appointment yesterday. They've booked me in for a scan today to check on him. I don't feel small at all so it was a bit of a surprise! Fingers crossed it's just inaccuracy of tape measurements.

cutejeans · 05/11/2021 11:53

Hi girls, just coming on to have a bit of a moanHmm we've just had the health visitor round who told me I can't breastfeed on the medication I'm on.. Can't believe I haven't been told until reaching 33 weeks but now I have to decide whether to come off, change it or not breastfeed!! So upset x

jadey1991 · 05/11/2021 16:46

@cutejeans oh no hun that's not good. If you don't mind me asking what is the medication for? I mean it's totally up to you on what u decide xxx

cutejeans · 05/11/2021 18:02

@jadey1991 it's an antidepressant called fluoxetine, apparently it's safe to take during pregnancy but not while breastfeeding! Spoke to GP and decided to come off it to try and breastfeed xx

AnonymousXXIX · 05/11/2021 18:09

@Theawkwardblonde my bump measured 2 weeks behind at my last midwife apt; she made an appointment for an emergency growth scan; and baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead! They just did another scan this week to confirm. All fine, baby 50-90th centile, I'm the small one. (And worried about being small and giving birth to giant baby now!)

jadey1991 · 05/11/2021 18:17

@cutejeans oh yes I have heard about that. Well hun only you would know if it's the right thing to do or not. Like you said, try and see. I hope it does go well for you hun

LouLou0505 · 05/11/2021 18:50

Hi everyone!

Our little man was naughty and we had episode 2 of reduced movements today. All is good we were monitored and got a scan which was nice to see him again as haven’t seen him since I was 20weeks.

They said his head is slightly above average and he’s measuring around 4lbs 15oz which to me sounds quite big for just over 33weeks. He’s now having a good fidget 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just can’t wait for them all to be here now! Can’t believe this was started when we were all so early!!

2020mission · 05/11/2021 21:48

@Theawkwardblonde have you had your scan yet? After measuring small at my midwife appointment yesterday (measuring tape) I had an ultrasound scan today and it turns out he's actually slightly bigger than expected. I also found out I have excess amniotic fluid 🙁 so they made me sit in a room and wait for a doctor to have a chat. It's called polyhydramnios. They are going to do diabetes testing first to rule that out. It seems quite uncommon and only seen in 1-2% of pregnancies. Definitely has worried me though!

Has anyone heard much about polyhydramnios? Still can't believe yesterday I was told I'm measuring small and now it's slightly big with this excess fluid!

lovebeingmum9 · 05/11/2021 22:11

Evening all and happy guy fawkes 🎆 we've spent ours in our own back garden, toasting marshmallows, sparklers and warm milk before bed for kids....while hubby cooked me a steak dinner! What a way to start my weekend 😊 hope your all well x
@cutejeans thats terrible they have thrown this on you last minute.....I don't suppose there's an alternative medication you could take and still breast feed?
I'm 34wks today and had an antenatal phonecall today.....basically just to confirm notes and go over lots of yes/no questions etc....hubby and I was out shopping for baby and hospital bag at the time lol but managed to juggle the 2,got some lovely baby grows, vests, bibs, hats and mittens for baby bag and hoping to pack them all over the weekend! 6 weeks to go! 😁

jadey1991 · 06/11/2021 11:34

@LouLou0505 oh that's good news hun. 4lb15oz is a good weight. I had a growth scan on 2/11/21 and lil Man was weighing 4lb8oz.. so we are around the same x

LouLou0505 · 06/11/2021 12:53

@jadey1991 - that’s good to know! I don’t mind having a chunky little boy but it makes me think I need to get more clothes 😂 I’d got a few packs of baby grows and vests from Asda which are up to 9lbs which I have a feeling he might not be in for very long 😂

Can anyone advise when their midwife starts to discuss birthing plans? I’m seeing my midwife next week when I’m 34 weeks and there’s a few things I want to discuss which I’m dreading because I’m really not keen on my midwife AT ALL!

jadey1991 · 06/11/2021 13:08

@2020mission oh hun, I've never heard of that to be honest. I might have to look it up. I hope everything goes well.
Did they say by how much? And did they weigh baby?
