Hello MTB!
I’m getting my one hour glucose test next week however I am so confused on the order it says fasting optional do you think it makes a difference either way I would like to hear from you all and soon! - it’s Monday!

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 14:56

@Curlymam88 aww hun, yeah they are taking the piss so I feel bad for you...

Hope you feel better soon.
Aww your still young. How lovely..

I'm doing great. Baby is doing well. Moving around so much. How big has everyone got? So excited to meet him.

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 14:57

@JW2021
If it says opinion all then I suppose you have a choice. Speak with your gp it midwife first x

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 16:38

@JW2021 I have no idea about the glucose test as I'm diabetic anyway buy check with your midwife she should know more information for you. Hope your test goes well.
@jadey1991 I know I'm still pretty young but it still bothered me. Just made me feel a bit crap and why do I bother saying anything should just say yea all ok. Just easier. Im glad you and bump are doing well.

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 16:45

@Curlymam88 yeah I know hun would of made it easier x
Bless you.

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 16:59

And then what's the point in going to a midwife appointment if I tell her I dont feel well and then nothing gets done about it. 2 weeks ago I saw her and told her. Feel like the midwife appointments are a waste of my time as though shes just ticking her boxes in the appointment and pushing the covid jab on me. Fed up with them if you can tell? 🤣
Sorry for ranting.

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 17:10

@Curlymam88 rant all you like babes. I see your frustration. It's true tho. They should be helping you rather then push things on you and ticking unnecessary boxes.
What you gonna do hun?

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 17:19

I just want my iron tablets that I asked about not a covid jab which I've told them 4 different times I dont want. So frustrated with them.

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 18:30

@Curlymam88 yeah I can imagine hun. Why are they forcing you with the Covid jab? I don't understand

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 18:59

I dunno just every time I go there they tell me I should have it. Being diabetic and pregnant and all that. Keep telling them I dont want it but something I do need like iron tablets because I dont feel right the midwife just brushed me off. Just feel really annoyed. Need to try calm down about it all.

2020mission · 18/09/2021 19:03

@Curlymam88 I'm 33 too and it's upsetting me to hear anyone is saying 33 is getting too old - this is only my first! I'll be hoping to have another baby and that will likely be at 35 earliest now. It took 16 months for me to conceive this pregnancy. Things are so different these days from back when our grandparents were young. Most people married and started their families younger back then and people tend to have a longer life expectancy now. Woman also tend to settle into their career first in a way that wasn't as common back then. It's true biologically it's still ideal to conceive young but it's not always possible.

I also got similar pressure at my last community midwife appointment with the covid jab. I'm all for it if you're not pregnant or are pregnant feel the jab is more necessary due to your work or any other added risk. It's just not right for my situation I don't think. I'm fine with them recommending it and sharing the pros and cons to help us decide but I don't think they should be forcing us. Especially when earlier this year they weren't recommending it to pregnant ladies at all!

I'm trying to figure out which bedside crib to purchase. The Chicco next2me is a contender. I have no idea what the real difference is between all the brands and varieties. I just want something safe and comfortable that will adjust to the height of the bed and the incline feature might be good incase he has reflux. We're hoping to move to a bigger house soon and so aren't setting up a nursery for baby arriving so I'm not wanting to buy a large cot or cot bed yet. Anyone who's had a baby before, how long realistically will they be able to sleep in a bedside crib? Some of them say 6 months but then I hear the minute they can roll over you have to move them out of it and that could be after just a few months?

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 19:25

@Curlymam88 just try and relax hun, can you not get iron tablets over the counter.? I'm 30 and I already feel like I'm being pressured with letters and texts.
Please do try relax hun.
@2020mission I've had babies before, to be fair they were in Moses baskets until 6months and then they slept in bed with me and OH. I've never been a fan of cots

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 20:28

@2020mission thank you, its nice to hear someone talk sense. Im probably more sensitive and emotional at the moment where before I'd have just brushed it all off. I know its an age thing but it was the last thing I wanted to hear on top of not feeling the best aswell. I think I would like another after this baby too.
I have the chicco nex2me crib. It has the reflux incline option and it also swings. Its a pretty large size. Larger than a moses basket. My sisters 7 month old is still in her next2me crib!
@jadey1991 I know, im going to try be calm now ive had my rant to you guys. Nice to get it off my chest to be honest. So thank you for listening Smile

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 20:29

Why so they need to be out of the next2me when they start to roll? Its not like they have anywhere to roll to apart from into your bed i guess?

SouthwestSis · 18/09/2021 20:35

To be fair, none of these midwives are forcing you to get the jab, it's just that you are in an at risk group being pregnant and it's their job to tell you about the best way to mitigate that risk.
Plus it's pretty hard being a professional that has to look after all these people sick with covid in hospital, especially when you know some of it is preventable.
Of course it will always remain your decision at the end or the day, just thought it's worth considering this perspective.

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 20:47

@SouthwestSis it seems like forcing when they are going on about it at every appointment. No is no, if I want it then I'll ask for it. Im all for hearing the pros and cons but its starting to feel a bit like they're putting the pressure on now at every appointment.

SouthwestSis · 18/09/2021 20:50

But the point I'm making is that they are not going to physically pin you down and jab you are they, its their job to advise you at every appointment, the same way ladies who smoke have smoking cessation discussed at multiple appointments. It's the midwives job to try and reduce the risk to you and your baby, they are just trying to do their job.

Curlymam88 · 18/09/2021 21:24

@SouthwestSis I never suggested they were going to pin me down and force me to have it. My point was I went to a midwife appointment and told her I felt unwell and told her I think my iron was low so maybe needed iron tablets. But she didn't do anything about that what I actually need and want she was more interested in ticking boxes and going on about a covid jab which I've told her previously I dont want.

jadey1991 · 18/09/2021 21:44

@SouthwestSis it's nice that you are pointing things out but like @Curlymam88 I'm not keen on taking the vaccine either. However what @Curlymam88 is saying is that her midwife isn't listening to here and she needs help with her iron etc. Not to be told about Covid jab etc etc. There main focus should be her not feeling good and being low on iron.

burtle4 · 19/09/2021 09:12

@Curlymam88 glad you got to the bottom of why you've been feeling so crap and hopefully they'll get you your iron tablets soon so you can start to feel more like yourself soon. For what it's worth I was 39 when I conceived this one and I think it's become far more acceptable for women to be having babies in their 40's. Your grandad is just of a different generation where 30 was considered late because women were expected to have babies in their twenties!
Personally I can't wait to have my second jab now. Covid has started flying around my son's class and I know it's only a matter of time before he gets it and brings it home. I personally feel like I want to do anything I can to protect me and my baby from getting it knowing how bad it can be for pregnant women, but everyone is different and entitled to their own opinions about it.
In other news I finally made a decision on a pram and went for the out n about nipper as we do a lot of dog walking and I needed something that would stand up to a lot of off roading! Feels strange to have actually bought something for the baby, I've spent so long convincing myself not to get my hopes up and now it's starting to feel like it's actually becoming real. Next job is to get into the attic and fish out what we've actually still got and what's left to be bought!

Curlymam88 · 19/09/2021 12:31

Thank you @burtle4 I've bought some spatone iron water for now until I do get my tablets.
Wont be long now, a few months and they'll be here Smile
I'm quite looking forward to Halloween this year, never been bothered about it before. But I think as soon as Halloween is over with Xmas is usually around the corner 😬

JW2021 · 19/09/2021 12:48

Just think this time next year…….we’ll be thinking about what our little ones want be for Halloween!

jadey1991 · 19/09/2021 12:52

@Curlymam88 lol yes I thought the same thing about it too. I don't celebrate Halloween but I think think year I will do it my children. Then I know that my birthday and OH birthday will be coming up then baby will be here 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Curlymam88 · 19/09/2021 13:43
