@Theawkwardblonde hey, I haven't had my 20w scan yet but I have had previous experience. I don't think they test for anything. They measure baby, check and see if there any abnormalities and reveal gender(if possible) you can tell the sonographer that you want it a surprise so they will move screen

@tuxedocat hope you get better soon! I had to Google norovirus as hadn't a clue what it was, thought it was meant to say coronavirus at first 😅 glad its not!
@LAR96 oh blimey glad your OK and got checked over, got to say I feel more and more like a weeble! lol
@Theawkwardblonde depends where you are but south east uk is normally 30mins for standard scan,it varies with each sonograther some ask at beginning if you want to find out gender and look at that area first or the opposite way round and will do all checks and then ask if you want to find out! if you don't want to know i recommend saying that straight away and don't look when they look below the waste otherwise you could see it yourself! Lots of info online about scan and they provide info about your scan and what will happen 😊

Pompom2367 · 03/08/2021 14:28

@jade0881 thank you this is my first but my partners second

Curlymam88 · 03/08/2021 14:51

@tuxedocat I'm glad you're both doing ok. I've been finding myself off balance alot lately too.
@lovebeingmum9 I sent my partner a photo of me with my bump.out yesterday while he was in work, I was kind of looking for a compliment to say I still look beautiful etc...but all he replies with was a photo.of a weeble. I was a bit disappointed tbh but not mentioned anything. Maybe I'm being grouchy because of hormones Confused

JW2021 · 03/08/2021 14:52

Jezzzz tuxedocat be careful ! So pleased everything is good don’t scare us! - do you actually own a cat? I’m always super careful I don’t trip as mine is sooooo lovable & always wants to snuggle. He’s gonna have to take a back seat for a while when baby arrives! 😻👶🏽

xTinkerbell · 03/08/2021 15:06

Had scan today and all looks good with baby but I have an anterior low lying placenta. So back at 30 weeks to get scanned again and see if it’s moved.

Ultrasound tech didn’t seem too concerned by it and said the fact that I’m having a c section anyway meant it wasn’t much of an issue but from what I’ve read I’m a little terrified. Especially as I’d like more kids in the future

burtle4 · 03/08/2021 15:38

@xTinkerbell I have a low lying placenta too but I need to be scanned again sooner rather than later to confirm it as my bladder wasn't full enough to see properly. I don't think it's too much to worry about until the end, like you said, if it hasn't moved we'll need a c-section. Not sure how I feel about that, so weird because awful as childbirth is I kind of feel sad that my last experience might be a planned c-section and not a spontaneous birth as the others have been!

lovebeingmum9 · 03/08/2021 17:03

@Curlymam88 men can be so insensitive without even knowing it lol its surprising mine has survived through 5 very hormonal and temperamental pregnancies! lol He tries to say nice things but they come out completely backwards.....he once looked me straight in the eyes and said romantically "your everything I've never wanted" I burst out laughing because luckily I knew he meant it the other way round! 🤣
@xTinkerbell congrats on your scan today.....hopefully yours along with @burtle4 move so you can have the choice of c section xx

LAR96 · 03/08/2021 17:31

I didn't think you needed to have a full bladder for the 20 week scan??? X

tuxedocat · 03/08/2021 18:06

@LAR96 oh gosh, glad you got seen and everything is ok. It does take some getting used to having the extra weight when you’re slight. No socks on stairs!

I don’t think you need a full bladder - mine says too on the letter but the sonographer wrote down for the appointment empty!

@Theawkwardblonde the 20w scan takes a while as they scan the brain, heart, and as much of baby as possible. It should say on the NHS website what they look for. It’s quite through and much more detailed than the dating scan. Dont be surprised if they get your to move and wiggle around to move the baby about to get a better pic!

Thanks for the well wishes @Curlymam88 @jade0881 (I can’t remember everyone else so sorry!!) I feel much better, a little delicate but felt dreadful yesterday. I’ve read there’s lots of sickness bugs around at the mo 😩 i hate being sick! So glad it’s over with!

@xTinkerbell congrats on the scan! It can be quite common but great they’re keeping an eye on it!

@JW2021 haha yes I have two cats; they’re black and white tuxedo cats - my first babies!

burtle4 · 03/08/2021 19:38

@LAR96 that's what I said to her and she said you don't because everything with the baby she could see fine, it was only because my placenta was lying so close to the cervix and bladder was completely empty (had just been to the loo 🤦🏻‍♀️) that she said she needed a consultant to look at it again x

LAR96 · 04/08/2021 11:03

@burtle4 ah that makes sense! I cant wait for Friday.
