It is the right thing!
I'm not going to say there won't be any side effects, but I really think Covid could be a lot more nasty.
Good luck!

Hey @Rmw99 - I had my first vaccine when I was (unknowingly) 3 weeks pregnant. Hardly any reaction at all, just a bit of a sore arm.

Had my 2nd vaccine on Saturday (12 weeks pregnant) and it completely wiped me out. Bit feverish that afternoon, and my nausea was really bad plus headache for another 24 hours. However today I feel alright! Not 100% but definitely loads better and what's left might just be general pregnancy feeling crappy, as I've definitely been feeling rough for a few weeks! So if you do feel ropey after the 2nd vaccine it will probably be very short-lived.

I was really worried about having the vaccine too... but also worried about not having it. I'm glad it's done :)

choccrumpet · 09/08/2021 09:33

@Rmw99 I had my first dose at 3 weeks pregnant and felt icky, feverish, nauseous for a few days after, paracetamol really helped. Had my second vaccine last week at almost 12 weeks pregnant and was absolutely fine afterwards. Had my 12 week scan last week and baby was dancing away. It sounds like it's the right decision for you.

feb2022 · 09/08/2021 09:49

@Rmw99 yeah!
I'll be having mine after I've had my 12 week scan at some point

Sunshine8888 · 09/08/2021 10:06

@Rmw99, I had my first vaccine a week ago at 13 weeks. I felt a bit tired and run down after but nothing terrible. All we can do is go on the data that’s out there, I personally wouldn’t want to risk contracting covid in the 3rd trimester unvaccinated and feel the vaccine has to be safer. Can’t wait to have my second and wish I didn’t have to wait 8 weeks!

overtherainbo · 09/08/2021 10:38

My results are back from my dating scan.
I had the scan last Tuesday (3/08) and received my letter today.

1 chance in 25,845 for Down's syndrome.
1 chance in 50,000 for Edward's syndrome or Patau's syndrome.

glasspaw · 09/08/2021 10:44

@overtherainbo wow! That’s some reassuring odds right there! What was your 12 week NT out of interest?

babyD20 · 09/08/2021 10:51

@overtherainbo

I'm a bit worried as I'm only 20 and my results for downsyndrome were 1 in 904
Rmw99 · 09/08/2021 10:51

@Rmw99 I've had both doses before getting pregnant (work in healthcare). I was so relieved to get it and I'll be having a booster if it is offered in the autumn or winter. DH and I both felt a bit rubbish for 24 hours after the second dose, but nothing in comparison to anyone I know with COVID. Good luck!

whistlers · 09/08/2021 16:02

I'm absolutely broken with tiredness. Big family weekend anyway with a fairly long drive yesterday.

Put my son to bed completely fine, then at 10:30 he woke up really distressed and struggling to breathe. Drive to a&e and it was a bad case of croup that needed steroids.

Had to stay in for observations for another 2 hours! Ended up back home around 2:30am.

Sooo tired.

MoonlightApple · 09/08/2021 16:35

@whistlers me too! I’ve been waiting for this 2nd trimester second wind I had with my first pregnancy but so far just super super tired

Jenc1111 · 09/08/2021 16:37

Just had my 12 week scan today. Measuring 12+3 weeks… and it’s twins 😨😬 not sure it’s sunk in yet… in absolute shock!

@jenc1111
What a surprise! How are you feeling? What did your other half say?

Dreading the flight to my mum on Wednesday. I get exhausted from the littlest things and the thought of me and DS travelling for a full day is just too much.

overtherainbo · 09/08/2021 16:44

@Jenc1111 oh my god that's amazing news, wow!

ChaiTRex · 09/08/2021 16:46

@Skybooks and @Rmw99 congratulations to both of you!!!

Jenc1111 · 09/08/2021 16:46

@Peachi82 he just couldn’t stop laughing!
I just totally didn’t expect it as I’ve felt fine all the way through the pregnancy so far.. barely even felt tired!!

ChaiTRex · 09/08/2021 16:49

@Jenc1111 what a surprise! Double the baby! Hope you’re feeling alright so far, and glad you know now so they can take extra good care of you. You’ve got this!

Does anyone else feel like they’ve started showing? I’m 14 weeks now, and finally told family and close friends (well, my husband will tell anyone lol he’s so excited). It seems like within a couple days of sharing the news, my stomach popped?!?
My husband says it’s just because I’m “so relaxed” since our 12 scan and NIPT results were good and we finally got to share the news. But I feel like I can’t even suck it in! Scale hasn’t gone up anymore - still gained about a pound and a half.

ChaiTRex · 09/08/2021 16:55

@babyD20
Don’t worry!
Each pregnancy is different, and that calculation is based on blood work and ultrasound measurements. The reason they scan for this is because it’s unique to each pregnancy, and can’t really be predicted otherwise unless you have high risk factors.
Chances are that these “odds” are totally unrelated to “odds” in future pregnancies.
If it makes you feel any better, my odds (without a test, just based on age) as a 33 year old are 1 in 300, jumps to 1 in 100 at 35. So you’ve got me beat by a long shot, and I’d say that number you got isn’t too bad… thats like one tenth of a percent!

WinsAndNeedles · 09/08/2021 17:20

@ChaiTRex oh god! I'm going to be high risk at 38 aren't I?! Nuchal fold measurement was good though.

ChaiTRex · 09/08/2021 17:23

@WinsAndNeedles you’re fine! Thank god they do real tests for us and don’t just tell us the odds based on our age…
One doctor told me I was “close to a geriatric pregnancy” at 33…
I think they really need to rethink this term, it’s ludicrous. I know plenty of women who have had healthy, hassle-free pregnancies well into their 40s!

babyD20 · 09/08/2021 17:24
@ChaiTRex oh god! I'm going to be high risk at 38 aren't I?! Nuchal fold measurement was good though.
My baby's fold was 1.7 which I thought was good so it must have been my bloods that made the results not as high of a number 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rmw99 · 09/08/2021 17:57

Congratulations @Jenc1111 amazing news!

My results back were
Downs 1 in 4959
Edwards and Palau 1 in 18964
although these may seem low these were actually better than my first, I remember them being much lower than this and i was 23 I'm now 28. But midwife said me being mix plays a big factor with my blood results and also may be low papp a again but haven't heard anything yet but that can change it a bit. I'm happy with those results though x

@Jenc1111 wow how exciting and congratulations 🥳
@ChaiTRex I feel like I'm showing and only 12 weeks tomorrow! It's my first so don't even have the excuse of second baby. Weirdly only put on 2lbs tho.

Kinda dreading hearing my stats as I'm 35, I really wanted to relax after the scan, seems you can't relax at all during pregnancy 😬
