I don't know if I feel movements. There might be something, but I'm not sure. If baby is still well on Friday at the scan, I would say what I feel is the baby. Until then I try not to think about it.
I felt my son around 16-17 weeks I think.

I slept OK last night, so I felt strong enough to go for a 2 hour walk with my son this morning, but this was a bit too much as I've been exhausted and nauseous for the rest of the day. It was also very sunny which didn't help I think. Meh. Can't wait to go to bed.

overtherainbo · 04/08/2021 19:36

I told people straight after the positive lines. We had a miscarriage earlier in the year and kept things to ourselves. I found it harder not having the support and people expecting me to be the chirpy happy self I usually am.

We don't talk to many people anyways, just our parents and siblings so I was open to spilling sooner rather than later. They've helped through the touch and go period when I had a haemorrhage in the sac, helping with childcare, bringing food and emotional support so I think I wouldn't have done it any other way ☺️

Peachi82 · 04/08/2021 19:56

Our families know and a few close friend.
My boyfriend was hesitant to tell his parents, but I urged him to do it and I'm so glad he did as it was the last time he saw his mom before she passed away from cancer a day later. What I've calculated as my due date is also her birthday. Weird coincidences. So if it's a girl, the middle name is already decided. I hope she is looking out for us and our little wonder.

I’m dreading telling my work, I’ve been with the company 5 years but just started in a new post 2 days ago, got my 12 week scan next week, I accepted the new job just before I found out I was pregnant but I just feel such a fraud! I hope they do take it well when they find out 🤞🏻

Jenc1111 · 04/08/2021 22:58

@feb220222
I also just accepted a new position at work. I’ve been stressing about it all last week… feel so guilty as the job was required to reduce work load across the rest of the department. Feel like I’m going to be dropping them in it. Told them I was pregnant earlier in the week and they were fine although did admit it was awkward timing for them… nothing they can do about it of course but I still feel a bit guilty.
They did appreciate me telling them now though as I could have waited a fair while longer.

haidri · 05/08/2021 00:16

For a first pregnancy, how would you describe movements? Is it a tingling sensation because I'm almost 13 weeks and I feel tingles??

feb220222 · 05/08/2021 06:26

@Jenc1111 ah nice to see your work were okay about it! Similar to you, employed to take on a specific piece of work that’s got deadlines for government attached! Providing my scan goes okay next week, I think like you il plan to tell them sooner rather than wait! I just can’t help but feel guilty! Will you be entitled to SMP or maternity allowance?

overtherainbo · 05/08/2021 08:00

@haidri I felt my first movements around 18-20 weeks with my first. It was like little flutters, almost a tiny swish feeling. Second I felt them a little sooner.
This is my third and I've seen some girls saying they are feeling tiny movements. I keep laying flat and really concentrating on it but haven't felt anything yet🥺. I'm 13 weeks, I can't wait to feel something 🤍🌈

Jenc1111 · 05/08/2021 08:33

@feb220222
The job is in the same company, just a different area of the business so no changes to my employment terms. Have actually worked for the company for 3 years now so will still be entitled to maternity pay.

feb220222 · 05/08/2021 08:51

@Jenc1111 ah that’s similar to me! Good your entitled to Mat pay, I’m fairly certain I will be but want to double check with HR once I’ve had my scan, I mean it is what it is now, but would be better to know what I’m entitled too!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/08/2021 09:16

Something that might be worth checking is your partners shared leave policy at work. Mine gets 4 months full pay, which is amazing, and surprised us both.

overtherainbo · 05/08/2021 10:24

Has anyone checked their scan notes. I've just seen my NT measurement is 2.2mm. I have a anterior placenta (isn't this the worst position?), I also get a 20, 32, 35 and 38 week scan

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 10:36

@overtherainbo anterior placenta is at the front, I think that means you might not feel as much movement until later on because it cushions the kicks and wiggles

overtherainbo · 05/08/2021 10:58

Yeah I read that, I read that it can cause placenta abruption, growth restriction, back to back labour. But also read it can change (hopefully)🤞🏼

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 11:02

@overtherainbo I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy and I had no problems at all and the most perfect birth with 0 pain relief so it didn't cause any problems during labour 😊

overtherainbo · 05/08/2021 11:21

@feb2022 oh that's good. I wonder why I've been offered more scans. Did you get offered more?

Rmw99 · 05/08/2021 11:37

How long did it take for your all to get your results back? Feel like iv been waiting ages 😖😖 it's been 9 days xx

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 11:44

@overtherainbo I had one at 12 weeks,14 weeks (rescan couldn't get measurements) he's still a cheeky boy!
20 weeks and I had one at 30 weeks just a precautionary one because I fell and hit my bump and I had one around 38 weeks to check cord placement
But that was only because my DS1 birth was pretty bad and the cord was around his neck 4 times, but these scans weren't planned for me before hand
Have you had complications before during pregnancy?
If so it could just be an extra precaution just to keep an eye on things x

Peachi82 · 05/08/2021 11:53

Usually extra scans scheduled so early are down to BMI or already established gestational diabetes? Or any other risk factors? Not sure.

With my son I had a rescan of the 20 weeks scan as he was being a monkey and then was scanned again quite late in pregnancy as the midwife couldn't feel whether he did a turn into breech position or was still head down.

Last night was awful. I was so nauseous, stayed up as I couldn't even move. Eventually shortly past 10, I was sick, then had a slice of toast and went to bed. Only good thing was that I must have been so dehydrated that I didn't need the loo last night, so slept through Grin
This morning I retched when emptying the bin. That was grim.
But I managed to hoover downstairs and empty the dishwasher and put a wash on. Small successes.

Mine were on the Badger app, no letter. No notification, I was just flicking through it and saw them there
Winterfellismyhome · 05/08/2021 12:10

Had my rescan today. All looking good. They gave me the results for downs straight away

@feb2022 I had a haemorrhage early this pregnancy, this is the third pregnancy this has happened. I had a haemorrhage in my second pregnancy which cleared up at 21 weeks (had extra scans then) and had a haemorrhage again in my third pregnancy but unfortunately lost the baby resulting to surgery. I was told I have high risk pregnancy so could be that? I'm down as high risk but low risk for labour.

@Rmw99 I found my NT measurement in my maternity notes on the scan page. I haven't had a letter yet, have been told it would take around 3 weeks😱

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 12:26

@overtherainbo ohh gosh! I'm sorry you've been through all that! 😘
Yeah I think the extra scans is because your high risk...
at least you get to see baby a few extra times 🥰

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 15:46

I feel really rotten again today! Not much housework has been done at all I'm just exhausted alll the time!
Feel so sick and I have a banging headache
And to add to my despair the boys are emptying toy boxes all over the floor, I pick them up.. repeat 😂
Every time I bend down my head feels like it's gonna fall off my shoulders.. sort of like when you've got the flu/ bad cold (maybe I'm coming down with something)

bamsquish · 05/08/2021 16:22

Hello everyone,

I'm new 👋 I have been holding off joining groups and what not due to a miscarriage at the start of the year.

But today I have had my official 12wk scan dating us at 12+2 EDD 15th Feb.

This pregnancy will be high risk due to my daughter having low birth weight at full term (5lb 4oz) and being hyperthyroid 👍🏻

So just wanted to say hi and I feel like crap 🤣
