@bamsquish welcome lovely!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one feeling like absolute shite 😂

whistlers · 05/08/2021 17:19

Hi all I'm back after being quiet for a while.

I had the harmony test but the sample was compromised, I was devastated.

Had to wait for the nhs screening today. All fine!

Feel like I can finally breathe. It's been a hard 2 years

So lovely catching up on all the posts. I think I posted early on the first thread and then disappeared into my world of ignoring this pregnancy since it's so soon after my miscarriage. I have my 12 week scan on Monday and my harmony test this Saturday.
I am so nervous the harmony scan is when I discovered the missed miscarriage last time and it's the same clinic. DH says it will be fine but he said that last time...
So lovely to see all your scans.

ChaiTRex · 05/08/2021 23:34

Holy moly I’m over the moon!

After an unsuccessful 12 week scan, I opted to get NIPT right there in the fancy ultrasound clinic. I’m in the US, and most insurance will not cover NIPT if you’re under 35, so it was a risk and I knew I could wind up paying a couple thousand dollars.

Met with my regular doctor yesterday and she warned me about this, as well it being a possibility for my genetic carrier testing.

Well, I called my insurance and they will cover both at 90%!

And I got my results back today! Baby is low risk for chromosome issues and she is a little girl!!!

Mamaux · 06/08/2021 06:59

Has anyone else been suffering from 'bad period pain' type pains at 14 weeks? I ended up being sent for an emergency scan at the EPU yesterday as doctor was concerned they couldn't hear babies heartbeat. Baby was absolutely fine thank God. But the pain just seems to be dismissed by all the medical professionals and I'm worrying myself that something isn't right 😔

bamsquish · 06/08/2021 08:06

@feb2022 Thanks, most of the other symptoms are slowly wearing off. Had a head ache like yours for about two days after a night shift and lord taking a step was painful 🤦🏻‍♀️

overtherainbo · 06/08/2021 08:15

I've been buying for baby. All things white, cream and stone. I'm a sucker for neutral colours without any characters or patterns

@overtherainbo that hat, so cute! ❤️❤️

CNMP · 06/08/2021 10:32

Hey guys 👋🏼 had my 12 week scan yesterday and the little bean was being a stubborn little thing. Had to jump all over the place so they could get the measurements haha.
I opted for the screening and was told if we were high risk we would be called in 2-3 days otherwise will get a letter in the next 2 weeks!
Over the moon and bought our first baby but yesterday! ❤️

overtherainbo · 06/08/2021 11:39

Thank you everyone. It's all getting so exciting now isn't it. I feel like I can breathe a little more now. I'm debating when to go buy big items. Is anyone else shopping/ window shopping?

WinsAndNeedles · 06/08/2021 12:14

We told the kids yesterday on DS's 11th birthday. I had wrapped a gift for each of them saying "To my big brother/sister. Love from Baby B' #3". We waited until the end of the day before dropping the bombshell and I'm glad we did because DS had a huge meltdown for about 5 minutes. It obviously came as a massive shock. Anyway, after a lot of cuddles and reassurance, he came round and started asking lots of questions and by the time he went to bed he was hugging my tummy and telling the baby he loved them.

Our DD was over the moon and she hadn't let me stop thinking about it since, first thing she said this morning was "morning mom, morning baby. Is the baby ok?"

DS suddenly realised how we'd "made the baby" and had a fit of giggles for about another 5 minutes (thanks y6 sex ed!) then said "I didn't think you were planning on having any more babies". "Well we weren't". "So why did you have unprotected sex then?!". I don't know who's parenting who anymore!

Off to tell my parents this afternoon. I'm even more worried about telling them because of my health issues and my mom's anxiety. I think it's going to floor them.

miracle2022 · 06/08/2021 12:24

Does anyone else keep thinking they need to be rigged up to a scan machine everyday so they can get reassurance that the baby is ok or is it just me? Going to scans makes me a little anxious and not going to them for a while makes me anxious too.

Peachi82 · 06/08/2021 12:34

12 weeks scan went well. It was quickly done and over with as we didn't opt for the screening. But everything looking fine so far. Heartbeat, 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 brain halves, little bit of wriggling.
So relieved now.

Sunshine8888 · 06/08/2021 13:35

@haidri, you could easily confuse them with indigestion - feels like bubbles popping or like a fluttering wings sensation. I didn’t feel anything with my first until 18-20 weeks.

@overtherainbo I had an anterior placenta with first baby, she was premature but I had a natural birth with no pain relief. I didn’t have extra scans.

I haven’t bought anything yet. If it’s a girl, I have so many clothes up in the loft! If it’s a boy, I will need to make some purchases haha. Trying to hold out until the 20 week scan but part of me is like you could find out in 2 weeks with a private scan - my gut says girl but people guessing boy from scan picture so who knows!

haidri · 06/08/2021 13:53

@Sunshine8888 I wonder if I'm already feeling them but unsure 😂

whistlers · 06/08/2021 13:56

I'm definitely feeling the baby. It's my second so apparently you feel it/recognise it earlier.

haidri · 06/08/2021 14:10

@whistlers I've had two miscarriages.. so I don't know if this is why I'm feeling things earlier? Or do I treat this as a first pregnancy and all?

whistlers · 06/08/2021 14:13

Oh I'm really not sure!

So with my first, I started feeling things around maybe 20ish weeks. After I'd felt a very definite kick I could look back and realise that some feelings I'd felt beforehand were also baby kicks I just hadn't realised at the time.

This time I have the benefit of knowing what a baby kick feels like so I can recognise it more easily.

I can only feel the baby when I'm lying completely flat and still. Baby's wake up when you're still!

ChaiTRex · 06/08/2021 15:43

@Mamaux
I wouldn’t worry too much. I would guess (and doctors probably assume the same) that your uterus is just stretching to accommodate baby and it’s painful. I’ve had lots of weird cramps in my abdomen, lower back, Fanny lol. 14-20 weeks - uteruses start repositioning themselves too. As opposed to being at an angle, they “straighten” up to start filling abdominal cavity so I imagine that feels unpleasant.

Skybooks · 06/08/2021 21:53

Hey all,

I'm back after a week away, I distanced myself thinking the worst but had my 12 week scan today and am 13w1d with a healthy, wiggly baby. After a MMC at 12 week scan before this feels so good.

I'm finally letting myself get excited and believing this will be our rainbow baby.
